![]() Many will avoid this thread or simply scan through the heading and proceed to another thread. Men of colour detest long read. Anyway let me help them and highlight the key Policy reversals mentioned here; 1 Naira redesign 2. Fuel subsidy removal 3. National population census Also of mention is the planned salary increase for civil servants and adding my own the report missed out, planned takeoff of the seemingly imaginary Air Nigeria. Commentators opinion varied between not properly thought through policies, constraints of time and victory of democracy due to the government yielding to the citizens rejection of some of the policies. Mention was also made to vested interest in the formulation of some of the unpopular policies and the interest of the coming administration. |
Jennyclay: ![]() With this kind of prayer which you know will never go beyond your house ceiling, how can people differentiate between the guy the prayer is meant for and yourself. Try to choose your words carefully in a public platform next time...in trying to antagonise a guy that has exhibited indecency in his post you committed a bigger one. |

I don't get it...was that little girl involved in a ufc bout. Poverty is bad, parents now trade their children wellbeing for survival. |
Itzallison:I sympathise with those affected but the needful ought to be done..if you go the the Rivers state government Facebook page when the governor went for project inspection at the now commissioned magistrate Court about 4 months ago, he specifically spoke about the structures defacing the old GRA area and government plans to do something about it. These issue of enforcement is not limited to Nigeria alone..in advanced climes you dare not allow your building to appear so dilapidated, there are consequences. Sentiments has no place in the business of governance, if the occupants on their own routinely maintain the buildings without waiting for the government of Bayelsa that can't even maintain her own buildings in Yenegoa to do it for them, I'm sure it wouldn't have come to this. The situation of those buildings speaks volume of the attitude of people toward public structure and buildings. There are reasons why humans are different from animals, the way we live is one of it. |
topatee:Don't mind the rabble rousers and sentiment stokers...that's why the country is the way it is...most people don't see beyond their nose bridge. |
Deefirm:The new GRA initiative is private sector driven, the government puts in place the basic infrastructure while individuals and property developers do the rest...if your pocket is fat enough you can go get yourself a plot there and develop to enjoy serene living in a decent well planned environment. |
Deefirm:And you got to know the owner of the buildings assuming in this case the government of Bayelsa was not communicated ab initio before issuing the 14 days eviction order just by reading this one sided reportage from Nairaland huh...how are you even sure the buildings have not being acquired by private individuals or some government officials collecting rents there without the knowledge of the Bayelsa government. What is paramount is if the Rivers state government has acted within the armbit of the law and as demonstrated the government seem every inch in order. Whoever is aggrieved should go to court. |
Itzallison:Understanding seem very far from you...if it is not you would have differentiated between the concept of old and dilapidated. The government statement highlighted defacing not because the buildings are old but rather poorly maintained. If you haven't been to that area you should try and visit there and see for yourself. |
Deefirm:Everything about most of you people here is sentiments as against logic, did you read the part where it was stated that the buildings were defacing the urban renewal plans of the state or at least have the patience to hear the government side of the story. You guys think the modern China and mesmerising structures you see in UAE, Saudi Arabia etal came about by those governments listening to people stoking petty sentiments such as this. It will interest you to note those buildings were not the only buildings marked for demolition in that area, some old and dilapidated railway corporation buildings are also going down amongst others. Those buildings look like the typical Nigerian police barracks and such structures does not befit the standards in the highbrow Old GRA Port Harcourt. |
![]() And this made front page... |
onadana:Have you ever heard of the term Carbon dating.... if not I advise you get enlightened. |
![]() They should deport him again this time around they should dump him in the battle front in Sudan. From what I can see he is a real fighter and survivor, he will do just fine in a war zone. |
![]() But there's no mention of the gender of the recipient in that man's tweet. The hate some guys have for women in this country is getting out of hand. |
