Autos / Re: Does Any Car Dealer Offer Intallmental Payments For A Car? by ambyzown(m): 4:12am On Aug 15, 2009
I'm also interested in this instalmental payment plan. I want a vehicle of not more than N1.5m & payment spread in 3 equal monthly repayments. My email is ambyzown@yahoo.co.uk
Include photos of vehicles you have that fall within this price range, prefarably corporate looking cars as this is intended for official use. Thanks.
Autos / Re: Honda Accord 2004 Eod. Toks by ambyzown(m): 2:35pm On Aug 14, 2009
N1.5m is my offer my email is ambyzown@yahoo.co.uk

Manual transmission cars with fabric upholstery tend to come with cars that are base models and as such are much cheaper than those with auto trans and leather.
I suspect this car also comes with steel rims and wheel covers.
Autos / 2005+ Nissan Frontier (crew Cab): Anybody Got One For Sale? by ambyzown(m): 1:08pm On Aug 10, 2009
I am in search for a clean Nissan frontier from 2005 models upwards. If you have a decent 2003-2004 model, you can also contact me.
Also I would be interested in a 2005-2007 model Toyota Hilux if anybody has one. Remember it MUST be very clean, without prior body works having been done.

Autos / Re: The Pics Nissan Pathfinder 2000 Model by ambyzown(m): 3:14pm On May 25, 2009
The pictures you have posted here are quite misleading.
Your first photo clearly is that of a sedan and definitely not an SUV.
The exterior photos show clearly that this is an LE pathfinder, while the interior photos show that of an SE Trim (White speedo dials)
Please be more honest in your dealings here, as there are very observant nairalanders here.
Autos / Re: For Sultaan, Sienna + other professionals: What Is The Meaning Of V-tec Engine? by ambyzown(m): 3:00pm On May 25, 2009
VTEC stands for Variable Timing and Emmision Control.
This is a computer controlled process of making the engine run more efficiently and more environment friendly.
VTEC is the Honda badging of the system, while Toyota uses the VVTI (Variable Valve Timing and Injection
Honda also uses i-VTEC in their later cars.

Hi Inspired_m, just a suggestion here; Is it possible that you respond to the request for car prices on the open board instead of via emails? This would help some of us who are still saving for our dream cars to know when to stop wearing rags and send you our life savings. grin grin
For instance, someone asked you for the price of an Infinity QX4 2002 and another asked for an Acura MDX 2002. These are cars I'm interested in. If the prices are openly stated, I may not have to bother you with a private request.
Thanks.

Ok Larry, you are perfectly in order if that is the Maxima you got for your client for N2.2m But bear in mind that those are 2004-2008 maxima designs. I am interested in the 2003 model which is less flashy, but sports the same 3.5l V6 engine. Do you think I can get my specs landed in Nigeria with authentic documents for N1.2m?
Autos / Re: ANYONE NEEDS TO BUY A CAR FROM COTONOU & NEEDS A CAR DEALER...... by ambyzown(m): 8:55pm On May 05, 2009
@ambyzown,
That was exactly what i got for a nairalander on Monday and was delievered on Thursday. He hasn't upload it yet as i still want to help him fix some few little things with it. i think he should upload it soon. We got that landing in lagos with custom duty and Registration and my commision 2.2million naira. No single Dent on it.

I think thats too pricey for a 2003 maxima. There are several 2004 nissan maximas available for sale on this forum for that price. Maybe you do not know the car I'm talking about. Here's a photo.

Autos / Re: ANYONE NEEDS TO BUY A CAR FROM COTONOU & NEEDS A CAR DEALER...... by ambyzown(m): 12:01am On May 03, 2009
Hi Larry, I'm interested in a 2003 Nissan Maxima (3.5l V6), prefarably the GLE (Luxury) Trim. A full option SE trim will also do. But whichever one it is, it MUST come with digital airconditioning unit and Bose Premium Audio system. Also, a boot spoiler, fog lamps and mud flaps (All factory fitted) are a must. I'm not particular about colour, but my preferences are Black or Silver (No white). It goes without saying that it MUST come with leather interior. If you find all these in a 2001-2002(3.0l V6) or 2002(3.5l V6) I won't mind.
I will not compromise on the cleanliness of the exterior! No dents or scratches please. If it has been re-painted, I'm not interested. I'd rather the engine is smoking than to have body filler on the car.
How much do you think I should be ready with? Thanks in advance.

Autos / Re: 1996 Nissan/maxima Gle/gxe/se/ by ambyzown(m): 10:23am On Mar 12, 2009
Hey friendl, SE, GXE and GLE are diffrent trims for the car you are advertising, so your car has to be one of these. And from your pictures, I can tell its an SE (Sport Edition) because of the white speedo dials, the boot spoiler and the body coloured door hanles. If you really want to sell this car quickly, I suggest you reduce your price to about N750k, and this price is suggested under the assumption that your car features a 6-speaker Bose premium cd/cassette/radio player and digital climate control A/C system. If not, your price should even be lower.
I also noticed the disparity in interior colour. The SE usually comes with fabric seats (Except of course you ask for leather at purchase as an optional extra) Even at that, Red exterior coloured Nissans usually come with Tan interiors. I suspect that the seats and door panels currently in your car have been salvaged from another car, hence the black against Tan interior you now have.

Absolutely not. If you want your business to be a success, then you need to attend to it yourself. Except of course you have someone you can trust,, And note that the operative word here is TRUST

I'm very impressed with the responses from almost every poster on this thread. So much maturity has been displayed in every reply. Its such a refreshing change from the sort of things we experience on other threads. Kudos everyone.
@Springjoys: At the prevailing interest rates, do you think it is still wise for any businessman to lease-purchase equipment? Interest rates are now at an average of 25% per annum. If I were to buy a Dozer costing approximately N6million using your lease scheme, I will be paying you back N9million in 24 months. Insurance and Anniversary fees have not been included. If you offer a different and more consumer-friendly package, please let me know.
Autos / Re: Want To Purchase A Bulldozer Need Help by ambyzown(m): 2:50am On Mar 02, 2009
@Larenz & EzeB: I'm still a small shot in the equipment rental business, as I only have one dozer and one pay loader. Hopefully before the end of this year I will increase my fleet. Rental rental rates are as follows.
D8 dozer ------ N120,000 per day
D6 dozer ------ N 90,000 per day
Pay loader ---- N 80,000 per day
Grader --------- N 70-80,000 per day
The general terms of leasing are:
Lessee pays rental for the number of days required in advance.
Lessee pays for transportation of equipment to and fro in advance.
Lessee pays Operator daily allowance (N5k)
Lessee is responsible for Diesel and security of the machine.
Machine works 8hours a day.
Check my profile for my contact details. Email me, its as good as sms as I get my emails in real time.

I'm being forced to eat my words by posting on this forum again, but I couldn't help but say something in response to Larenz.
We have excellent mechanics in Nigeria who can fix heavy equipment for you, but you will be helping them a great deal if your equipment isn't so Hi-tech. You are very correct in your business analysis and the redundancy factor, that is the textbook approach to business management, but you have overlooked one critical point. Your potential Market I see you are siting your quarry in Cross rivers state, so that means your target market is the south east, assuming yours is the only quarry there, can your target market take 1920tons of granite daily? Thats 64 trailers per day. This is key to the success of your plan, as this is the figure you have used to determine that you can afford a dozer with an airconditioned cab for your operator.
Don't get me wrong, I would really love to get a good-looking aerodynamically streamlined dozer with ABS and skid control grin But my competitors are using $35,000 D8k's and can afford to crash the market with lower rental rates because they can buy 4 machines with the same amount it will cost me to buy 1 state-of -the-art dozer. So technically they'll be making 4 times what I will.
If your competitors are JB and Setraco, by all means buy brand new equipment. And I like your strategy of using a machine for just 4years and then selling it. Maybe I will be opportuned to buy one off you when you decide to sell at rock bottom price grin
D8N's are very recent machines so you can expect them to be expensive.
I am more interested in D8k's as they are rugged and basic. The parts are readily available and I do not have to buy from CAT offices alone. Also the engine is the same as the D8H which Dumez used when they were in Nigeria so there are a lot of mechanics trained by Dumez out there looking for work.
I'm located in Benin City Edo state, and I'm into equipment rentals.
Cheers guys.

Promise72 wrote:
Just bring in anything" mentality is why we see a lot of broken down trucks/equipment on the expressway in Naija everyday. Why would a $80,000 machine just give you only 6 months of work? Especially a dozer.

The reason why dozers in Nigeria cannot give you more than six months of trouble free operation is basically due to the Nigerian factor. You can hardly find unadulterated diesel to buy. Because kerosene is cheaper than diesel most petroleum marketers mix diesel and kerosene and sell as diesel. Prolonged use of such fuels causes damage to the injector and nozzles, when this happens power output from the engine drops and in a bid to compensate for the power loss, many operators drive the machine to its limits which takes a toll on the crankshaft.

Lets make some cost comparisons, One brand new D8h/k cylinder head costs N220,000 while the same costs $2100 in the US before taxes
Transmission pump is N60,000 here while it costs $1100 in the US. One brand new crankshaft here will cost you N500,000 but its almost $10,000 in the US. This is the reason why rebuilt dozers cost much more in the US.
My argument is this. If I can buy a machine for $30,000 and it gives me 1 month of operation, (most will give u 2) at N120,000 per day, I can comfortably budget N1m - N1.5m for a spare engine, and be good to go for another 4-5months.

As for the man who spoke about Iron clad insurance, what happens if the dozer you bough with an "Iron clad insurance" breaks down? are u going to ship the dozer back to them for repairs? Have you seen the way bulldozers work in sand quarries? or the way they are used for demarcation work?

I have made my point, He who has ears, let him hear. I currently own a dozer that cost me less than $30k and its steaming quite well. I plan to buy another one sometime in September in readiness for the 2010 season, and I will not pay more than $30k for it. This will be my final post on this matter.

Its amazing how most Nigerians in Diaspora quickly forget the peculiarities of doing business in this country. You cannot profitable run a dozer business if you buy a machine that costs as much as $80,000. when will you recoup your investments? How many of you giving advice to buy a $80,000 machine have actually brought one in?
@Eze-B: My advice to you is this. Search the internet for a cheap D8h CAT bulldozer (Try www.machinerytrader.com)
Ensure that you are getting a machine with a relatively good undercarriage, it doesn't matter if the engine is bad (it costs only about N1.2million to build an engine in Nigeria) so if you get a machine with a poor engine, but with good transmission and undercarriage, for under $20,000 buy it.
It costs a lot more to put a machine in good order in the US than it does in Nigeria. Dont kid yourself that if you buy a $80,000 machine, it will give you six months of trouble-free service. Definitely not in Nigeria. So the cheaper you get your machine the better for you. Just ensure you keep your budget under N5million.

I've even gone one step further, and done a search for you, and I found this 1979 CAT D8k for under $30,000
http://www.machinerytrader.com/listings/detail.aspx?OHID=6199874&GUID=94EC583A0ECB46CD93D634849D3C8D26

Call the company and haggle with them, you might even get a further discount, then find someone there who can arrange with a technician to inspect it before payment. But from the photo's I can tell it will be in good condition. (Its actually on a work site and in use. See the tracks?)
Autos / Re: Want To Purchase A Bulldozer Need Help by ambyzown(m): 4:58pm On Feb 20, 2009
I've replied your email. My dozer came in from Texas, and it cost $12,000 to ship to Nigeria
Autos / Re: Want To Purchase A Bulldozer Need Help by ambyzown(m): 1:45pm On Feb 19, 2009
EZE-B I believe you can get a good CAT D8h series for your budget. I currently have one in Nigeria and it cost approximately USD42,000
Look around and you will find something in that region. If you cant find one, let me know and I will connect you with the person who helped me buy mine.
However, if its a D8k series you want, you might need to up your budget to about USD 50,000 landed cost.
