BusinessZamfara APC Youth Group Rejects Governor Dauda Lawal’s Rumoured Defection by AmeboFeeds(op): 10:49am On Jun 09, 2025
Zamfara APC Youth Group Rejects Governor Dauda Lawal’s Rumoured Defection

A youth coalition under the banner of the Zamfara APC Integrity Network (ZAIN) has strongly rejected the speculated defection of Governor Dauda Lawal from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing him as a political liability with a trail of poor governance.

In a statement signed by its president, Comrade Murtala Sani Gummi, and made available to journalists in Gusau on Monday, the group said it had credible intelligence suggesting that Governor Lawal was lobbying to join the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections in a bid to realign with the centre and retain political relevance.

The group, however, warned that such a move would backfire, noting that the APC in Zamfara and across Nigeria “cannot afford to inherit a non-performing politician whose leadership has worsened the socio-economic conditions of Zamfara people”.

“We want to make it categorically clear that Governor Dauda Lawal is not welcome in the APC. He is a huge liability, and any attempt to accept him into the party will damage our chances in 2027. Zamfara has suffered under his administration. The streets are not safe, civil servants are groaning, and there’s no tangible infrastructure to speak of,” Gummi said.

The group described Lawal’s rumoured defection as a desperate political move “designed to mask his failures and ride on President Tinubu’s growing popularity in the North”.

“Whereas President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shown strong leadership, especially with the gradual stabilisation of the economy and renewed military operations in the North-West, Governor Dauda Lawal’s performance has been abysmal in all ramifications,” the statement added.

ZAIN alleged that under Governor Lawal’s watch, insecurity has escalated, salaries are delayed, and government institutions have weakened.

“What Zamfara needs is visionary leadership — not recycled politicians jumping from party to party for personal survival. APC is rebuilding its structures, and we cannot afford to dilute that progress with someone whose record in office has been marked by blame games and inertia,” Gummi added.

The group urged the national leadership of the APC not to entertain the idea of accepting Lawal into the party, cautioning that such a move would dampen youth mobilisation efforts in the state.

“We are already building strong grassroots structures across all 14 local governments in Zamfara to ensure APC’s victory in 2027. Bringing Dauda Lawal into our fold will discourage the young people who believe in the President’s vision but reject failure at the local level,” Gummi added.

The group further noted that the APC youth wing in Zamfara is committed to supporting credible candidates who can align with the performance of President Tinubu and deliver real dividends of democracy.

“President Tinubu is working. The projects are visible. But Governor Lawal has no track record to show. His defection will be viewed as an opportunistic ploy and must be resisted.”

The group reaffirmed its loyalty to the APC and its determination to defend the party’s integrity in Zamfara State.

“As youths, we have the numbers, the energy, and the will. We will not allow anyone to hijack our structure and create division within the fold. The APC of 2025 is not a dumping ground for underperforming politicians.”

PoliticsLawyers, Csos Storm Attorney General's Office Over $5 Milion Tuition Fees Paid by AmeboFeeds(op): 9:56pm On Jun 02, 2025
Lawyers, CSOs Storm Attorney General's Office Over $5 Milion Tuition Fees Paid For NMDPRA's Boss Children

Hundreds of lawyers and members of civil society organization, today, stormed the Attorney General's Office with a petition demanding immediate action against Engr. Farouk Ahmed, the CEO of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

The group alleges Ahmed abused his office, misappropriating over $5 million in public funds to fund his children in elite schools abroad.

In the petition signed by Barrister Aquila Kendo, the Concerned Nigerian Youths Forum claims Ahmed's children attended prestigious schools in Switzerland and India, with tuition fees running into hundreds of thousands of dollars.

It also alleges conflict of interest, citing Ahmed's son's employment with Oando PLC, a company regulated by NMDPRA, and accuses Ahmed of casting doubt on the quality of petroleum products refined by the Dangote Refinery.

“The actions attributed to Engr. Farouk Ahmed, if proven, violate a number of federal statutes and ethical standards,” Kendo stated.

“First is Section 172 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which binds public officers to act in the public interest and to eschew corruption. The diversion of public funds or influence-peddling to sponsor private education abroad directly contradicts this provision.

“Under Paragraphs 1, 6, and 11 of the Fifth Schedule to the Constitution (Code of Conduct for Public Officers), a public official is required to declare all assets and liabilities and is barred from engaging in activities that create conflict between their private interest and public duties.

“The Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act (CAP C15 LFN 2004) reinforces these rules and outlines penalties, including dismissal from office and seizure of assets not lawfully acquired.

“Additionally, Section 15 of the Public Procurement Act 2007 forbids public officers from authorising public spending not backed by lawful appropriation. No known appropriation or budget line justifies the alleged expenditure on foreign education in this case.

“Furthermore, Sections 19 and 26 of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act (ICPC Act) criminalise the use of public office for unjust enrichment and the receipt of any advantage that could compromise an officer’s impartiality. We believe the benefits allegedly extended to Oando and the regulatory latitude granted to fuel importers fall within these violations.

“Under Section 1 of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, any individual who disguises the origin of funds through layered transactions or transfers via proxy accounts is liable to prosecution.

“Finally, Engr. Ahmed’s alleged issuance of licenses to import high-sulphur diesel also violates provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) that empower NMDPRA to safeguard the health and safety of Nigerian consumers through environmental and technical product compliance.”

The group is calling for Ahmed's immediate suspension, coordinated investigations by EFCC, ICPC, and Code of Conduct Bureau, and swift prosecution if allegations are substantiated.

They also demand systemic reforms within NMDPRA to prevent future occurrences, aiming to protect Nigeria's petroleum sector from corruption and ensure accountability.

PoliticsTinubu’s Reforms In Oil And Gas Regulation Worth Celebrating — Energy Governance by AmeboFeeds(op): 3:52pm On Jun 01, 2025
Tinubu’s Reforms in Oil and Gas Regulation Worth Celebrating — Energy Governance Group

The African Centre for Energy Governance and Accountability (ACEGA) has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as groundbreaking and well-coordinated reforms in Nigeria’s oil and gas regulatory framework.

The group said the Tinubu administration’s support for the effective implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and its deliberate push to increase crude oil production are signs of genuine transformation in the energy sector.

In a statement signed by its Executive Director, Dr. Usman Bello Idris, the group said Tinubu’s approach to reform has restored investor confidence, revived production targets, and positioned Nigeria as a more responsible and efficient oil-producing nation.

“For years, Nigeria’s oil and gas sector groaned under inefficiency, uncertainty, and dwindling output. But what we are seeing today under President Tinubu’s leadership is a bold reset — one that respects the sanctity of the Petroleum Industry Act while pushing for real, measurable growth,” Dr. Idris said.

One of the most visible outcomes of the reforms, ACEGA said, is the steady increase in Nigeria’s crude oil production.

Since mid-2023, the country has seen a gradual climb in output levels, breaching 1.7 million barrels per day in recent months — a marked improvement from the lows of 2022 when output plunged below 1.2 million barrels due to theft, vandalism, and poor infrastructure.

Dr. Idris noted that this uptick did not happen by chance but was the result of deliberate interventions supported by Tinubu, including the relaunch of dormant assets, improved metering systems, and coordinated security efforts around critical pipelines.

“Nigeria’s crude oil production had been on life support, but through strategic regulatory leadership and presidential backing, the situation is reversing. Fields are coming back online, theft is being checked, and operators are regaining the confidence to produce,” he said.

ACEGA particularly hailed the president’s strong commitment to implementing the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), signed into law in 2021.

The group noted that Tinubu’s government did not just inherit the legislation; it has gone further to empower the relevant agencies, notably the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), to deliver on its promises.

“We must commend President Tinubu for not sidelining the PIA or paying lip service to its provisions. Instead, he has supported a robust implementation strategy that is already yielding results in licensing, fiscal discipline, community development, and investor clarity,” Dr. Idris stated.

The PIA, which took nearly two decades to become law, was designed to overhaul Nigeria’s oil and gas governance by introducing a transparent fiscal framework, separating regulatory responsibilities, and ensuring that host communities benefit from oil proceeds.

“From the Host Communities Development Trust to new fiscal incentives for marginal fields, and clearer guidelines for environmental compliance, the PIA under this administration is not just a document — it is a living, working tool of reform,” Idris added.

The group also applauded the leadership of Engr. Gbenga Komolafe at the NUPRC noting that his commitment to professionalism and transparency has contributed immensely to the success of the reforms.

It cited the commission’s efforts in reducing production costs, introducing real-time production monitoring, and facilitating a transparent bidding process for oil blocks as exemplary.

“The president has given NUPRC room to work, and they are proving that competent leadership can deliver results. NUPRC’s moves to enforce better metering, clamp down on theft, and promote decarbonisation reflect a forward-thinking agenda aligned with global standards,” ACEGA said.

While commending the gains so far, ACEGA urged the Tinubu administration not to rest on its laurels.

The group said there is a need for deeper investment in energy infrastructure, faster resolution of legacy disputes, and strategic planning for Nigeria’s energy transition in the face of global decarbonisation targets.

“The work is not done yet. Nigeria still faces challenges in refining capacity, gas monetisation, and energy access for its people. But what this administration has shown is that with political will, the sector can be revived. The future of oil and gas in Nigeria can be cleaner, more transparent, and more rewarding for all stakeholders,” Dr. Idris said.

ACEGA concluded by calling on stakeholders in the oil and gas industry — from international oil companies to local investors and host communities — to support the government’s reforms and work collectively to secure Nigeria’s energy future.

Reflecting On Engr Jamiu Ogundele's Journey Of Life

........Diary of his journey so far

By Agboola Kunle Opeyemi

Episode 2

As I reflect on Engr. Ogundele Jamiu journey as a people leader over the past decades, there are valuable insights I’ve gained along the way — wisdom I wish I had possessed when I first stepped into a leadership role.

1. It’s All About the People: When I began my leadership journey, I focused primarily on tasks and goals. However, I soon realized that the heart of leadership lies in building relationships, inspiring individuals, and supporting their growth. Your success as a leader hinges on the success and well-being of your team members.

Engr. Jamiu Invest time in understanding people aspirations, challenges, and strengths.

2. Embrace Humility: Leadership is not about having all the answers; it’s about being open to learning and growth.

Acknowledge that you don’t know everything and be humble enough to seek input from your team.
Embrace diverse perspectives and encourage open dialogue.

Remember, your role is not to be the smartest person in the room, but to bring out the best in your team and harness their collective wisdom.

3.Communication Is Key: Effective communication is the lifeblood of successful leadership. Be clear, transparent, and concise in your messaging. Foster a culture of open communication, where team members feel comfortable sharing their ideas, concerns, and feedback. Remember that communication is a two-way street, and effective leaders know how to convey their vision while also valuing and incorporating the insights of their team.

4.Lead by Example: As a leader, your actions speak louder than words. Your behavior and work ethic set the tone for your team. Be a role model by demonstrating integrity, accountability, and resilience.

Celebrating a phenomenal leader birthday Engr Ogundele Jamiu in advance.

I love you sir.

Suspend Probing Of Ex-Chairman, Adesina Sikiru Now - Leagues Of Registered Political Parties Tells Ogun Assembly

The League of Registered Political party has requested for the suspension of Probe of Local Government Chairmen most especially the immediate past Chairman of Ewekoro Local Government Hon. Sikiru Adesina (ESKAY) by the Ogun State Assembly.

It is on record that a few days ago a group that called itself Ewekoro Concerned Citizens wrote a petition to Ogun State House of Assembly against Hon. Sikiru Adesina ESKAY out of political bitterness to stop his second bid ambition of returning as Ewekoro Local Government Area Chairman .

Recognizing the fact that the said petition was born out of ill feelings and the fact that the timing is very wrong because of the ongoing processes of Primary Election Exercise to select candidates for the November 16 Local Government Election, the League of Registered Political Parties cautioned the Ogun State Assembly from been use as an agent of vendetta and blockage for the aspirations of notable politicians who have served the State in one or two capacities.

In a letter written to the House through the Hon. Speaker by The League of Registered Political Parties signed by it's Chairman Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday and copy made available to newsmen in Abeokuta today, LRPP asked the House of Assembly to suspend any probe/ panel of the former Chairman of Ewekoro Local Government Hon Sikiru Adesina ( ESKAY) until the conclusion of the November 16 Local Government Election.

"The above named Organization is using this medium to call on the Speaker and the entire members of Ogun State assembly not to allow some desperate politicians to use the hallow chamber of the assembly Probe Panel as instrument of vendetta and blockage for aspiration of some immediate past Council Chairmen who are willing to re contest the November 16 Local Government Election.

The League of Registered Political party frowned and condemned in totality the timing of the invitation of Hon. Sikiru Adesina (ESKAY) the immediate Council Chairman of Ewekoro Local Government by the House of Assembly.

It' is pertinent to state here clearly that we are not shielding the former Chairman from making explanations and clarifications on the allegations at an appropriate time but not this time that the Primary Elections that will provide candidates for the November 16 Local Government Election is ongoing.

In the interest of Justice, equality and fair play we hereby request for the suspension of any probe or panel with connection to any Local Government Election Aspirants till after the November 16 Election"

ABEOKUTA – As Dangote oil refinery begins supply of 25 million litres of petrol to the Nigerian market daily, a chieftain of PDP in Ogun State, Otunba Segun Showunmi has appealed to Alhaji Aliko Dangote to be moderate in the price of his PMS.
Recall that the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) had disclosed on Tuesday that the 25milllion litres supply will rise to 30 million litres from October.

The NMDPRA said it met with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to agree on local crude supply to the refinery.

The President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, formally announced that the 650,000-capacity oil refinery in Lagos has commenced petrol production.

In a live broadcast on Tuesday, Dangote said the supply of petrol into Nigeria would change the country’s energy landscape.

But the PDP Chieftain, in a statement issued in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Tuesday commended Aliko Dangote for redeeming Nigeria’s pride as black nation and contributing value to Nigeria economy with the coming on stream of the PMS from Dangote refinery.

Showunmi noted that, Nigerians have bored heavy burden of fuel hike for so long from NNPC and other major marketers, urging Dangote to take the masses into consideration.

He urged Dangote to consider nationalism, patriotism and empathy above profit.

He said, “Thank you, for on this day you redeemed our pride as black people, as humans capable of contributing value and engaging in the activities that others do. With the coming on stream of the PMS from your Dangote Refinery.

“A grateful nation thanks you.
As a pan-Nigerian Patriot, I thank you from the depth of my soul for the shame had gone on for too long.

“You must try as much as possible to be moderate in your pricing for our people have bored such a heavy burden for so long, I get sustainable pricing but ensure that the markup takes into consideration our people.

“You come from a long-standing historical business family from the great Alhassan your great-grandfather to Sanusi your grandfather to your beloved father Mohammed Dangote, not leaving out your supportive mother Hajia Mariya, whose stories of charity and zakat I was told way back in 1998/1999 by locals in Kano.
“Profit is good but nationalism, patriotism and empathy must be your guide.

“Oh, Our Creator bless and preserve Dangote Refinery, The Workers, and all that have dealings with it. Let this effort be preserved, let it grow from strength to strength. As you have preserved Rockefeller does preserve and sustain Aliko Dangote for generations.

“Now let the giant called Nigeria awake, stand up, and take its rightful place in the comity of nations.”

Ogun Calls For Mutual Understanding Among Stakeholders In Forest Reserves

Ogun State government has called for peace and mutual understanding among investors, farmers and other stakeholders within its forest reserves.

Commissioner for Forestry, Engr. Taiwo Oludotun, who made the call at a peace meeting with stakeholders from Ilaro, at the Ministry's Conference Room, said investors were partners in progress, assuring that government was determined to protect their interests and investments.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Forestry, Mr. Timothy Olatunji, the Commissioner frowned at the influx of herdsmen within Ilaro Forest Reserve, warning that such unwholesome act should henceforth stop, while calling on the leaders of the herdsmen to be more proactive at ensuring their members keep off the forest reserves.

"Government would no longer fold its arms and watch herdsmen threaten law-abiding citizens with dangerous weapons and AK-47 rifles in and around the Forest", he said.

"In the olden days, it was only spears and long sticks that herdsmen are known to carry, unlike nowadays when they handle dangerous weapons when they are not going to war front", he said.

PoliticsNigeria's Democracy Under Threat: Dr. Kumo Speaks Out Against Arabi's Ouster by AmeboFeeds(op): 5:43pm On Aug 28, 2024
The sacking of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria's (NAHCON) chairman, Mallam Jalal Ahmad Arabi, OON, fwc, has been seen as a violation of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Dr. Mohammed Aliyu Kumo has kicked against the removal of Arabi by the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was alleged to have misused N90 billion naira allocated to the commission for the 2024 Hajj operations.

According to Dr. Kumo, the appointment of Arabi followed due process because the office is statutory in nature, and his removal must have followed the same pattern to have him properly nailed. He stated that the appointment is saddled with a five-year tenure, and before an officer of his type can be removed, there must be a committee that will write a report indicting him for falling short of the country's constitutional provisions.

Dr. Kumo said the 2024 Hajj he witnessed was one of the best, and the operations were one of the smoothest. He believes the government should have commended Arabi for bringing up the image of Nigeria in a good light. He called on the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to give Arabi a fair hearing.

"Please, follow due process and be fair to Jalal by giving him a fair hearing. This is a man who retired clean and sound, having served four former presidents as a permanent secretary. I'm sure he wouldn't have done anything deliberate to tarnish the good name he has built over the years."

Dr. Kumo asked if the government had received any report from Arabi to uncover the infractions in the N90 billion allocated to the commission for the successful operation of the 2024 Hajj.

He called on the present government to give Arabi a fair hearing by letting him submit his own report and then forming a panel committee of investigation to write an independent report that would indict him of any criminal offenses.

Dr. Kumo continued to say that he suspects foul play and is coming to terms with the many rumors that there are cabals in the presidency who may be operating without the knowledge of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

"My little understanding of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is that he will want to work based on the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria and be fair to all people, irrespective of their religion, tribe, or political background."

Dr. Kumo reiterated his call to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be fair to all Nigerians, especially at this time that Arabi is bearing the brunts of wrong accusations coming from all corners under whichever guise or pressure, due to primordial sentiments vested in the hearts of many political associates.

PDP Chieftain, Toyin Amuzu Urges FG to create solutions to tackle hike in price of PMS, AGO

ABEOKUTA- Renowned Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Egba born philanthropist, Chief Toyin Amuzu, has advised government to create solution by tackling the hike in prices of petroleum products and subsidize citizens’ essential needs to boost economic activities in the country.

Chief Amuzu was reacting to President Tinubu’s directive to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to use funds meant for the Federation Account to offset fuel subsidy costs.

Amuzu stressed that government intervention is crucial to drive the economy and protect citizens’ well-being, noting that Nigerians are presently languishing in pains due to the hardship caused by the fuel subsidy removal which has greatly affected the prices of foodstuffs.

According to Amuzu, subsidies for electricity, fuel, healthcare, grants and loans among others are necessary to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

“It is only when businesses and people do well that they can be taxed,” he said.

“Any responsible government, whether federal, state, or local, must intentionally make things work for the people, so that their efforts can enhance micro and macro economies to serve the nation.”

The Egba traditional chief also highlighted the importance of utilizing Nigeria’s youth and resources to drive development, emphasizing that Nigerians must take charge of developing the nation as only Nigerians can develop Nigeria.

He criticized the lack of electricity supply and fuel, stating that “nothing developmental would happen” without these essential services.

Amuzu urged the government to tackle the Nation’s challenges head-on, rather than paying lip services, to ensure meaningful progress.

PoliticsThe Potential Consequences Of Governor Jackson Adeleke's "Omo'wa Ni E Je O Se" S by AmeboFeeds(op): 1:21am On Aug 20, 2024
The Potential Consequences of Governor Jackson Adeleke's "Omo'wa ni e je o se" Sentiment in Osun State

Governor Jackson Adeleke's administration in Osun State has sparked a concern in me with its way of promoting the "Omo'wa ni e je o se" sentiment, loosely translated as "Let our own people lead." This approach, seen in the disproportionate focus on developing Ede, Adeleke's hometown, and appointing key figures from the same locality, risks setting a dangerous precedent for the state's political landscape.

Historically, Osun State has benefited from a governance style that prioritizes even distribution of resources, particularly in the capital, Osogbo. Previous administrations, despite their origins from different towns, have worked to ensure that infrastructural development was not confined to their own communities but spread across the state. This helped maintain unity and reduce unhealthy competition among towns.

However, Governor Adeleke's strategy could breed a toxic political culture where every community becomes desperate to produce the next governor, solely to channel state resources to their own areas. This is evident in the massive and focused development projects currently transforming Ede, compared to other parts of the state. While development in Ede is necessary and commendable, the extent and exclusivity of these efforts may fuel resentment and rivalry among other towns.

The appointment of Mr. Kehinde Alabi Adeyemi, also from Ede, to replace Dr. Kola Odetayo as rector of the state’s polytechnic further amplifies concerns about favoritism. Such moves might undermine meritocracy and foster a perception of exclusion among other communities, leading to increased tension and division.

If this trend continues, Osun State could face a future where political decisions are driven by parochial interests rather than the collective good. Each town might become fixated on securing the governorship for its own, leading to unhealthy competition and a fractured state. The resulting political instability could stifle development, as the focus shifts from state-wide progress to localized power struggles.

For the sake of Osun State's unity and progress, it is crucial that the current administration reassess its approach and strive for a more inclusive governance style. A balanced distribution of resources and appointments will not only enhance fairness but also strengthen the state's cohesion, ensuring that all communities feel equally valued and represented in the state's governance. Sentimental approach to governance can indeed foster tribalism, prioritizing one's own community or group above others. This is gradually encouraging division, creating an "us versus them" mentality and promoting populism, Fueling power struggles, encouraging competition for dominance rather than cooperation.
