We know how the elections were "won". They were paying as high as 25k per vote in some polling units and as low as 500 naira in others. It was a bazaar and a stark weaponization of poverty. The general election will be a different matter as general performance and momentum will determine the winner, not necessarily paid cash. How many people can you afford to buy by then?

They are not arguing that Tinubu has failed, they are simply saying that he's the best failure amongst others. |
DeepSight:When loyalists and erstwhile allies of BAT like Aregbesola leave, they are termed betrayals but they blame others when the roles are reversed. |
Mynd44:This is a tired and dishonest argument. What happened to Okowa's 1.3 trillion naira investigation by the EFCC? Adeleke still has his local government funds withheld, it will be released if he decamps to the APC. If Fubara decamps from the PDP to APC as a conditionality to return to power, your lot will still point fingers somewhere else other than to the one who is using apparatus of state to coerce, induce and weaken all opposition and undemocratically causing rancour in all political parties. What can Atiku do about that? We are simply back to the dark politics of yesteryear. |
It's not an ordinary birthday visit. It's political consultation. |
yarimo:Is it still lamentations if it's true?
|
EvilMerodack:This was how it happened in Kaduna yesterday. The security agents and electoral officials were right in the middle of it. You simply vote and collect your money. Like I say, impoverishment is an election winning strategy that APC will be hoping to capitalise on but the stakes will be different in 2027. Reason being that all the contestants are well known to the few electorates that turned up and enthusiasm was lacking as is always the case in all by-elections.
|
ChiefOloye:So, in summary. It's about the best loser? Well, if you really believe that everyone who voted APC yesterday will vote Tinubu in 2027 and vice versa, I cannot really argue with that. |
Ameboperoo:The only difference now is that only the parties in power were allowed to share money yesterday with security personnel turning a blind eye. They only became very vigilant when they caught the opposition party with cash. It's nothing to complain about though. It only goes to show that APC keeping the people perpetually impoverished is an election-winning strategy in itself. |
helinues:Of course we are. So I ask again, going by the results of the by-elections, does it mean Tinubu will lose Oyo State in 2027? Yes or no? Whatever your answer is, simply apply it to other states where elections held yesterday. Goodbye. |
helinues:So what's your point? Tinubu lost Lagos, but Sanwo-olu won the gubernatorial in Lagos. This was replicated in many other states with APC governors. This goes to show that local elections are a different ball-game from presidential elections. The stakes are also much higher. It's good for optics but only naïve people will use this by-election as a testament of what is to come in 2027. |
helinues:By your logic, I guess it's safe to say that Tinubu will lose Oyo state in 2027 with APC having failed to win Oyo North which is even traditionally an APC stronghold. Or are you telling us that Yorubas who voted Tinubu in 2023 in Oyo state simply voted for their tribesman? If you believe Tinubu will still retain Oyo state in 2027, what makes you think Obi will fail to win Anambra state in 2027 or that Anambra and other locations in this by-election will vote Tinubu? |
zero8zero:Okay. If you insist Tunde. |
zero8zero:This is why when I see you Agbadorians talking about Northern politics, I laugh. Is Barau the Speaker of the house of representatives? Lol. Also, don't foolishly make the mistake of thinking those people you see in the pictures in Kano will vote Tinubu in 2027. |
We are back to the dark days. For what it's worth, Buhari tried to conduct free and fair elections under his tenure and he wasn't afraid to lose elections to the opposition. |
Tinubu going after any Northern opposition figure right now will only make a hero out of them. I'm sure they never anticipated the backlash and reaction of the North to Tambuwal's intimidation. Tambuwal is not Okowa neither is he Sim Fubara. Most of the Northern figures around Tinubu today are lightweight and will not be able to sell his candidacy to Northerners in 2027. Time is a gentleman. Tinubu is throwing away every ally and the ambitions of most APC gubernatorial candidates in the states in exchange for his own victory. Such selfishness and covetousness will only lead to anti-party in 2027. |
Kastonkastroll:You wish. That was the convoy of the speaker of the house of representatives. APC decided to fix their campaign on same day. Elrufai campaigned in Zaria until far into the night. He was on his vehicle throughout. See video for yourself.
|
abc115:Peter Obi is with the coalition. He has said so times without number. APC is now desperate to have Obi go back to LP where they have already set landmines for him. Abure still has a case filed in Nassarawa state. Wike and Abure planned to have Obi fighting endless court battles until it's too late but some top Obidients are too naïve to see it. Or maybe they know but just want to corner donations from campaign funds again. |
Tinubu is really trying to provoke the people of Rivers State. A calabarman from cross rivers calling the shots in Rivers does not sit well with the people after they queued and voted for their own governor, Fubara. The sole administrator has even been empowered to oversee the conduct of the local government elections, the winners may struggle with legitimacy in the eyes of the people. This is how nations fail. |
Yet another loyalist humiliated and betrayed by Tinubu. Shettima is probably next. |
SadiqBabaSani:Does Atiku have any pact with Jonathan? If Jonathan joins the ADC, contests the primaries and wins, Atiku would definitely support him. Otherwise, Jonathan should join any party of his choice and contest the election. He's a formidable candidate in his own right and does not need Atiku stepping down for him. |
These ones are scared to their pants on the prospects of Jonathan joining the race. How is it disreputable to aspire to be president? John Mahama of Ghana contested twice after losing his re-election bid before becoming successful again. If Mahama can do it, why not Jonathan? Afterall, Tinubu is far older than GEJ. Has the seat of the president now become such a dishonorable position that one would lose their reputation by simply contesting? |
kentokay71:Is the Tinubu you want us to believe not a politician? Don't pity us, pity yourself. Aregbe is a far better leader and Omuluabi than Tinubu can ever dream of becoming. Tinibu is only after himself and amassing wealth. If Aregbe is no longer relevant, why worry about him and why are you on this thread? Just go on living your life then. |

Tinubu has been given a cold shoulder by the West and the rest of Europe so he only shuttles between a few countries. The Carribeans, Dubai, Brazil and France. No level. |
Lithiumite:If you think Tinubu has become more popular now than he was in 2023 in any region outside the Southwest, then I have a bridge to sell to you. Go check election figures, no incumbent has ever surpassed his vote tally in a re-election bid in the history of the country. They always get less votes. Tinubu and the APC have been putting too much hope in governors and so-called allies. If Okowa as a sitting governor and vice presidential candidate could not deliver himself in Delta, how does Tinubu now expect Governor Sheriff and his likes to deliver him in their states? |
Aregbesola is really doing the Lord's work in the grassroots of the Southwest. They have no other answer than to call him a betrayer. Tinubu does not have the Southwest in his grip like the Agbadorians like to pretend. There is serious disillusionment and disenchantment within. His defeat in 2027 will start from the Southwest.
|
Akpakomiza2:If governors were that influential in the South, Okowa would have delivered his state as a sitting governor and vice presidential candidate from the Southsouth. Bold of you to now assume that Southern governors will now deliver their states in 2027 to Tinubu against the will if a majority of their people. |
bankyblue:Those are the lies fabricated and told to you by propagandists of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway media merchants. |
dalongjnr:Aregbesola is also doing the Lord's work in the grassroots of the Southwest. Tinubu won with 5.6m votes from Northerners using muslim-muslim ticket, how did he suddenly become the "Southern president"? The South didn't vote him in 2023, they voted Peter Obi. |
