Phew! After being told to stop eating at 9pm yesterday, and hunger finishing my life and lo kicking me like crazy because him no see food chop lol, went for the fasting blood sugar test this morning, and all is well.

Thank God for the journey so far.....its not been easy, God bless every mama here. Its surprising and heartwarming the extent we are willing to go for our los and discomforts we are ready to bear for the comfort of another human being. The love i feel already is so overwhelming , i find my self crying. Its so embarassing.

In other news, i officially feel like a trailer, pls mamas how can i ease this heaviness. I feel very clumsy.

I am 30 weeks pregnant and I have really bad burning sensation at the top of my belly - a little below the bra line. I thought it could be the bra irritating skin but this is not at bra line and I have already tried different bras/sizes/fabrics/ and even going braless I have tried extra moisturizing with various brands, massaging and also heat/cold packs. It feels like I have a blister. Skin looks perfectly fine... It is killing me. Anyone else had this? Any help?? Thank you!!

Yes sis, this is my biggest discomfort at d moment!
Mine started as rib pains just at that spot which i have if i sit for too long or lean forward for long while seated. Googled it and saw it was normal wit some preggies. But this pain or hotness on the skin is d one i dont understand. Its definitely not heartburn, Feels like the skin there is burnt but skin looks perfectly fine. Been meaning to ask here but laziness no let me comot from peeping mode. I'm 28wk plus. I hope we can get help from experienced mamas here.

Congrats to all mamas that have put to bed and grace to those still pushing. The good Lord is our strenght. I used to think i knew all about preggy cuz i read alot, i will just be explaining all the science behind it. But mehn! There is a huge difference btw book and reality, lots of discomforts i never wud have imagined. Experience is the only teacher in this case aswear. God help us.

Indirect coombs test. Let your mind be at rest. Didn't get a shot during my first delivery, 40weeks plus pregnant now and I believe i've got God by my side. I got my rhogan short on 40weeks exactly, but docs start giving it from 12weeks, 28weeks or 30weeks above. It's well with you dear

I did it in Qatar- just part of regular pregnancy checkup. I am not sure but maybe dy call it titer test in Nig. you can contact a lab(reliable ones) and tell them u want to do antibodies rhesus test- or ur doctor can recommend where to get it done -just to put ur mind at rest.

Please, don't worry urself much. Wt ur xplanatn, looks like d missed mc was early. It feels like dy always say if it happens wtin first 8weeks of pregnancy,dia is tendency for no sensitization
My advice still is don't worry urself, jst stay + on dis. In Nig, dy give rhogam after birth but outside like UK etc, dy give twice at 28wks and after birth.

My last mc was caused by IC which was detected dis year durin my scan at 15wks. Already funneling nd opening which is y I got cerclage but in Nigeria den, d doctor concluded it might av b Blood group which I didnt believe. Put ur mind at rest because u don't need stress wt the pregnancy. Please, calm down.

I only speak to my baby to hear the word of d Lord that our blood will not mix 2geda during pregnancy. I will carry him to full term. As d spirit leads sometimes d thoughts come.

If you've not had any previous miscarriages,abortions,still births,bleeding during preggy, then u need not worry. U only need to get a rhogam shot within 72hrs of delivery. But if u've had any of these previously without getting the shot, then issues might arise.

am R- but haven't had miscarriage. I was given Rhogam injection less than 24hrs after d birth of my first baby( lost her during birth) but now am almost 4months again. I think u need the rhogam injection to avoid future miscarriages, its about 34k or so.

You need to be given a Rhesus immunoglobulin shot(RhoGHAM) but it's effective within 72hrs of the miscarriage.Failure to get the treatment puts future pregnancies at risk of another miscarriage.

If you're Rh-negative and were not given RhoGAM during your previous pregnancy or 72hrs after birth, and tests reveal that you've developed Rh antibodies capable of attacking an Rh-positive fetus, amniocentesis can be used to check the blood type of the fetus.
If it's Rh-negative, you and your baby have compatible blood types and there's no cause for concern or treatment. If it's Rh positive, and thus incompatible with your blood type, your antibody levels will be monitored regularly.
If the levels become dangerously high, ultrasound tests are done to assess the condition of the fetus. If at any point the safety of the fetus is threatened because hemolytic or Rh disease has developed, a transfusion of Rh-negative blood to the fetus may be necessary.
Just speak with your gynea to know how to proceed.

Am also Rh- but I got d rhogam inj after d mc (7wks). Though I got d one after d first MC late due to leftovers of d foetus and took me 3mnths b4 I got cleaned up. It was after d DndC dt I got it. Wen I got pregnant again, a test was done and everytin was stil fine.
To 2016 now, Anoda test was done at early Preg to be sure no sensitization and it was fine. I wil be getin rhogam at my appt on Tuesday at 30wks. I was always scared b4 and worry say y only me among my siblings is just rh- but sometimes, we don't have control over some tins in our life. Just be hopeful and trust God to help. It's also important we watch our diets too. Ur doctor will be best to tell you how well to manage it cos our experiences wt dis tin is different and we just have to be positive that things wil turn out good.

The thing is i didnt get a rhogam shot when i had the miscarriage cuz i didnt know my blood group then.i didnt also know i was pregnant, just that my period came about 5days late that month and wouldnt stop after the usual 4days, on the 9th day we became worried and went to see a doctor who ran a pregnancy test that came out positive. She called it a missed miscarriage or something like that. I continued bleeding for about 14days during which i passed the tissue. Wen d bleeding stopped i did a scan that showed there were no retained products. The doc didnt say anyti about blood type and me too i didnt know mine then. Nw i'm pregnant again, 25wks gone. No issues at all so far but i'm just worried about baby's well being. Tho my doc has said he doubts if i'm iso immunized and should just relax till i'm 30wk. Bt i'm too worried i cant kip calm. What if m already iso immunized? Doc cant just know by guessing and what if sometin goes wrong before 30wks? God forbid.
Dont know the next step to take, thats why i'm asking here.

No need to worry, just do d scan first. Some people measure ahead. The part i'm not too comfortable with is Cefuroxime(antibiotic) for pains. Or did u hv other complaints? It's safe in pregnancy though.

My dear, hospital gave me 29th but babycentre said 27th. Scan at 8wks gave 25th while the first at 6wks gave 30th.

For mamas in abuja pls be careful when choosing hospitals. I had the worst experience in a so called top govt hospital. The negligence and sheer incompetence no get part two. When i went into labour at 27 weeks the hospital i registered in said their incubators were full that they would refer me to the GH. I said ok on getting to the GH now as i entered the ward i was reprimanded for wearing trousers . I had to leave work to go to the hospital hence my dressing and its not like i was due yet. I was given a bed in the ward and that was the end . No one checked me or the baby my bp was not checked babys heart rate not checked. This was like 11pm and i was in full labour contractions and all
From my bed i could see the staffs on duty fast asleep i was calling to be checked one of them came broke my water and left . Before i knew what was happening my baby was half out his legs and body just dangling while his head was stuck
I screamed for help that is when they started running helter skelter calling for the doctor to come. The doctor pulled and pulled the baby it took more than half an hour to get him out he was already gone with bruises everywhere from being pulled. I was bleeding in buckets my family members were already weeping as the placenta refused to detatch i eventualy ended up in the operating room for the placenta to be removed surgically. I complained to the hospital about my treatment but did not get any tangible response. I discharged myself the next morning. Pls i will appeal to everyone i had heard the bad reputation of this GH before i was referred there i should have insisted on not being sent there
If two or three people have bad experiences in a hospital please run i thank God for my life but i still shed tears for my baby boy . It is well people if ur in abj pls pm me i will give you the hospitals name so you can make an informed choice where to register.

How do these people sleep at night? Cant even begin to imagine all u went through yet with no baby to go home with, how sad! And if u see these ppl on sunday in church ehn, very sanctimonious. God help us in this country. Thats how on my first Anc , the matron was scolding a nurse seriously for asking a woman in labour to go look for her file herself bfor she will be attended to. My God, i was in awe. A woman in labour already in so much distress. Hmmm

Me i still look like sumone that just has a big tummy or that has just had a large meal at 19wks + too. Thank God e don dey come out atleast sef because i beg am before e show face. Cant wait to start showing properly jare. One day i went to withdraw money from the atm and the queue was very long. The security man just came and picked two preggie women from the queue and asked them to withdraw first. In my mind i dey say, u no dey see me ni? I vex ehn. And that time in my mind i tot my bump was out oh. Even to allow me sit down for slab till my turn, the wicked man no gree me. Mtsheewww!

hmmmm............I dunno what to say tho! let me just assume it's cos its ur first ANC visit. I'd advise u talk to the dr when u go for ur next visit, u have a right to!
Another thing u can do is ask mamas who came have been coming for ANC at the hospital, i want to believe ur not the only ante-natal patient there. Make friends with them and ask them questions on what and what they were given when they started and i'm sure that will guide u on what to expect.

Think thats wat i'll do , thanks jare. Some of these doctors sef.

Your doctor should have told you to do an anomaly scan between 18-20 weeks. You can then find out the gender of your baby and it might help you shop. If he doesn't, you can still book a private scan to check baby's sex if you are really keen on it, you don't have to wait for your doctor.

Congrats on your bump showing, it's a wonderful feeling to get noticed. It's not too early to start shopping, you can start now before you get too tired in the 3rd trimester. Your EDD should be approximately 27 Dec and you should be exactly 20 weeks pregnant today 5th of August. The next scan you do might give you a date close to that but it's an approximation based on baby's measurement.

At your next doctor's appointment, ask them if malaria and typhoid tests were part of the bloodwork done in your initial test. It may have been part of it but if in doubt ask! Pls don't hesitate to confirm information with your clinic and you should never be scared to ask questions, after all it's your baby and your body.

I started ANC about 6weeks ago and I was placed on a weekly anti-malarial drug (I didn't have malaria and wasn't tested for). I was also given my 1st tetanus toxide shot... I am due for another at my next ANC which is on the 18th of Aug.

I am going for another scan cos they detected something during my 14weeks scan, so I need to do another scan so d Dr would look at d results and advice.
How many scans have u done so far?

I'd advise that if ur worried about anything or u feel there is something they r supposed to do and they aren't, u can politely ask them just so u guys r on d same page. I always ask as many questions as I can cos I need to know wat drugs I am ingesting and y.

Nw i've started ANC, there are certain expectations i have of my doc from the experiences of other mamas here that i'm not getting.im beginning to lose faith in them. Anyway let me see how the next one goes.
Even the tetanus shot wasnt mentioned. It was a matron friend of MIL that casually asked as i was leaving on a personal note oh. I couldnt help but wonder why the doc didnt mention it.

You don't need any instruction before you do a scan. Walk into any scanning and take a look at your lil one anytime, anyday.

As for malaria and typhoid test, it is not a prerequisite. They must not test you for it except you present yourself with symptoms that predict the ailments.

my LMP was 12th march and I'm about 21 weeks, so I'm guessing ur somewhere between 19 and 20weeks. I'll try n help u calculate it.

I'm going for a scan on Saturday (as directed by my Dr) for a routine check, and if baby co-operates I LL check the sex....but if baby doesn't, e go b till e ready. Eitherways... gender or not, I plan t start shopping by next week now that I still have plenty energy. I can always buy neutral colored clothing for my LO

My doc didnt ask me to do any scan, i'm beginning to worry they arent thorough. Tho i only started ANC last month and my next appointment is thursday next week. I dont knw if i will be directed to do so.
Another thing is i heard they are supposed to run malaria and typhoid test on me last month at the start of my ANC. Tho other tests were carried out but not malaria and typhoid. Maybe i'm worrying too much sha because i feel fine. Just worried my hospital might not be thorough.
