Thank you for your response. I have learnt from my mistakes as it's my first experience. Once I am applying again, I will make mention of the incident and admit to my faults. I hope to apply next January to visit during the Easter period. Just thinking if it's too early so as to avoid desperation. I appreciate everyone's contribution. giselle237: When u applied to get a visa.. 1. U provided a bank statement showing proof of funds 2. U provided proof that you had adequate accommodation for the length of your trip and so you wont be recoursing to their public funds.
This is one of the reasons why ur visa was granted because you had satisfied them to an extent. The onus is on you to prove to the border agent whether you should be granted entry. We keep making these mistakes. That you have a visa doesn’t mean that you would be granted entry at the border of any land. To make matters worse you a tourist abi came for your company’s program carried only 40 pounds cash to travel to the United Kingdom and then you didnt have a complete hotel booking. It is not their business to look at your account statement. Have your money in hand .. to them this proves that you didn’t come with ulterior motives. This is a lesson for intending visitors, especially if it’s your first UK visa. You will be checked, cross checked and counter cross checked. ... my friends that came into the UK this week went through the same experience at Heathrow and Gatwick. U must clarify what you are here for, you will show your cash, no audio money allowed and then show your proof of accommodation for your whole stay... it is not compulsory it is the hotel you said in your application. Just make sure u hav proof of accommodation for the whole stay tallying with your return ticket and a contact number of whoseover’s address you are using. If these conditions are not met, you will be detained. ... and then interrogation starts... Try and watch Border force on DSTV, this is their routine. They will contact your office, seize your phone, read everything inside.. incase you were discussing any ulterior waka, it will be seen.. all these while you will be kept aside and then all your expressions will be judged.. whether you are looking guilty.. this and that. It is not a pretty sight. It can be avoided especially if it’s your first trip.
If your visa gets canceled at the border of any country, Even the Uk government believes the border officer that did that did so to protect the United Kingdom from an intending overstayer or non transparent visitor and so they will stand on the side of that officer and you cant win any appeal against any visa cancelled with prejudice such as in your case. I am yet to read of such. I am sorry that you have found yourself in such and I do hope earnestly that you could explain yourself better in your next application and then come here to share the testimony. |

oak202: Thanks for your response. Yes, I did state in my application that I have someone the UK.
Secondly, I booked hostel with free cancellation. The amount of 40 pounds was just for cash at hand since I have paid for the train to the hostel .
Please i need more information before responding. Do you fill in your application that you have someone in UK ? If yes is that why you said you have contact in the UK because i didnt really get that part. But if you do otherwise, thats a lie which attract penalty which will determine if you can apply immediately .
Secondly, you could have booked hostel with free cancellation for the entire trip which you can cancel if you don't want to sleep there after passing POE
Thirdly , the 40 pounds cash is too small considering you are a visitor which might not take you to your destination depending on where you are going. I know Oyster card is used within London for buses & train except you are traveling to other cities thats when you need train ticket. |

Dear Justwise and other Gurus in the house.
Pardon me for my lengthy narration. I am part of a project execution in my office and as such, were told to go on annual leave early this year so as to achieve the project's goals.
I applied for a Visa last year with my family but was refused, applied personally in December based on the office project and was issued successfully. In my preparation, I moved funds to my GBP account but with 40 pounds cash with me when I got to Heathrow's airport because I don't want to be moving cash around since I have paid for my hostel and trains within London ahead while in Nigeria. I have evidences of the train tickets with me.
However, in March this year when I got to Heathrow's airport, the border officer complained that the cash I had with me was too small. I showed him the funds in my various accounts even with my GBP account but was denied entering. My office in Nigeria was contacted to confirm the veracity of my status and also my contact in the UK. The major reasons were: 1) I have 40 pounds sterling with me, paid for 7 days hostel but have a return ticket of 12 days
2) I said I am seeing my contact in the UK.
I was told I have to be detained of for investigation but have the option to appeal but will take 28 WORKING DAYS to complete. In order not to jeopardise my project work in Nigeria and lose my job, I opted to fly back home immediately.
Before leaving, my Visa was CANCELLED on the spot.
I later appealed the cancellation in Nigeria and the decision was neither rejected nor accepted with a condition that I should have appealed in the UK. Even the appeal fee was refunded. I want to apply for visa in January to visit during Easter period and will state all the incidences with appropriate references. I have a printed statement of account for the GBP as at then and the response I got when I appealed the decision.
Can I go ahead to apply and hope this will not be seen as a sort of desperation?
Thank you. |

I don't think South African Embassy is serious. My application was done on 25th July but till date, no response. They just confirmed my documents this month from my employer but has not returned my passport. I sent a mail to Veronica and she responded to the mail that the embassy should provide a feedback ASAP. She even copied me in her response to them. Once I didn't see any response by tomorrow, I will send a mail to withdraw my application. hotice1954: Well, mine is 2 months and 2 days. The price is higher compared to Ethiopian Airways.
Your response is highly solicited on this. |

I get your point but I am not sure if you really get me
So you are trying to say I can't use my yellow card I used in applying for South Africa visa to travel to another county ? From my own little understanding, once you get the vaccine, you can't take another one as it's for 10 years. You only submit the card for another country that requires the card. I am bound to be corrected. |

Mimicle101: My learned people, how true is this information that someone need to book appointments at VFS before submission.
Your response is highly appreciated.
Guys what's these new thing happening at vfs now.
You now have to make an appointment and will be giving a submission date.
I need to understand does that mean someone will travel all the way from eastern part of Nigeria to lagos just to make Visa appointment to be told to come back on another submission date.. Or is there a way to book the appointment online.
Because if there is no provision for online that would be very bad, wast of money, risk and time except they have to open a new vfs center somewhere at the East.

Good evening wonderful people here. I have been a silent reader and want to appreciate everyone's contributions.
I want to know if its possible to make payment for the Visa fee before going for submission at VFS. Or the payment must be made on the submission date?
Also, can the application be done now when the proposed date is 19th September considering the delay in the process.
Thank you all in anticipation of your responses. |

My gurus in the house - Justwise, Ekpotek and others, please i need your opinion on this issue.
I applied for Visit visa with my wife and son last April but was refused on the basis that i did not state what we intend to do during our stay and i did not show much ties to the country. However, these were stated clearly with evidences in the application as my two other kids are staying back in Nigeria. i travelled alone to African country to use my leave then.
I want to apply for myself alone now to go for my vacation next March. Is it not too early to apply now based on the refusal in May this year? So as not to show desperation? i intend starting the application by December (3 month to intended time of travelling).
Thank you all as i expect your responses. |

OmoBendel24: Oh, really.... I have always known almost all of these from those who work in the department saddled with this responsibility (despite my having not worked in the bank) and have wondered how people are bold to use fake/doctored bank statements for their visa applications that can easily earn them some ban.
But then, @Ekpotek wasn't far from the correct approach at all which made you use the words NOT ENTIRELY. I know we actually give powers to them to do these confirmations you listed above (up to account balance as at when statement was printed) the moment we sign those visa application forms with conditions attached, the new twist to the knowledge for me now, and maybe him, is the concluding paragraphs as bolded above and your emphasis in between on the word MAY too. Do they really exercise this much ability to verifying statements, I mean transactions from a day after statement is printed? Will ask around still sha.... Ekpotek and Justwise, I need a clarification on this- my wife's sister and her husband in UK invited us for a family reunion but the documents submitted and account statements were for the husband (being the sponsor). We were rejected on the basis that the documents sent doesn't show we re related. However, we intend to reapply with my wife's sister birth certificate, marriage certificate and pictures of my wife and her sister. Also, we are attaching the various emails, telephone chats etc. I have included this in the cover letter that the wife is a sister to my wife. Are we in order with this application?
