patrickmuf: Which one come be technical ability?
So Zidane is technical but not tactical? Una go just dey talk nonsense for here... Training players to improve their techniques is from technical ability, training them to execute team moves using said techniques is from tactical ability. Like when Tuchel came in newly he introduced small balls to improve the ball control of his players, we could also see Lampard trying to assist Kovacic with his shooting. I once posted videos of Tuchel while he was at Mainz using method of differential learning to pass tactical info. You won't know this because you don't follow football beyond shouting up whatever and shouting goal |

Tore Andre Flo: "He (Mount) doesn't think he is the best in the world, but always wants to learn and develop. That is what has made him take the last step. It is not such a big step, but it is the most difficult step. I cannot say that City are favourites when I work for Chelsea" |

BlueAngel444: The things you wrote here are simple media interpretations you buy into. Let's not make philosophy sound like some interesting course or subject, it is just the way of thinking of an individual. Your inability to interpret Zidane's philosophy, thought, or idea doesn't mean he lacks one. A static philosophy is usually a momentarily concept, even coaches change with team, but a dynamic philosophy in approaching the game, makes for necessary adjustments.. That's why Zidane could still manage Madrid without Ronaldo and got the best out of Ramos, Benzema, Varane players who were losing their legs without him.
... Most coaches with identifiable philosophy do change their game to suit the league or opponent just like Guardiola when he was at Bayern he had to change to guard against counterattacks due to the prevalence of gegenpressing in the league and how fast the league was. I don't watch games to watch goals only I watch to see the tactics deployed by coaches and I do read books on tactics so spare me the media tripe, understating the importance of tactics and how different coaches fare as regards to tactics shows your understanding of the game. Football goes beyond signing players and expecting to perform magic you may be lucky but you will be found out if you miss out on the following; tactics, man-management, technical training and psychological training. |

BlueAngel444: Wetin una dey talk, common FM will teach the average Joe that tactics is formation and setup, technique or technicals are instructions and direction of play.
So saying a manager is tactically poor is based on the players he picks and the formation he chooses, etc how Ole misbehaves at times but if such tinkering works, were you play a lb at a rw, you would be termed a tactical genius.
Abeg how is Zidane 6/10 tactically abi na the wind of public opinion una just dey follow.
Zidane rarely picks the wrong set of players who can't play to his instructions and techniques.
Be of Alex fergies old fashioned cross and nod, Mourinho's park the bus or modern day klopp Gen pressing. You can't say a manager who using simple tactics or possessions based passing and utilizes his players properly is tactically poor.
The problem una get, na rich pikin mentality if u no get style y u no follow us. Because zidane lacks a certain style or pattern to his football blind pundits watching mono, would think he isn't tactically astute yet he sets up his team to win trophies others would have lost. Outplaying Barca, atm, Liverpool and the set of teams and managers with so called better tactics Tactics is how you set your team to play with a defined philosophy and identifiable pattern of play regardless of formation you choose to play and how you manage the team while the game is still on. Take for instance when you look at Conte you will know that he's a defined philosophy which is positional play with great emphasis on fast transition both in defense and attack, as for PeP, Sarri and Bielsa their philosophy is to out possess opponents and attack vertically with relentless pressing when they lose possession. In the last game vs City Tuchel and Guardiola were switching tactics to counter each other moves as the game was going on they didn't wait for a moment of magic from a player. Zidane on the hand lacks the tactical astuteness of these aforementioned coaches but his man-management and technical abilities compensates for this deficiency which is a good thing because to have players on your side you need to be a good man manager |

Zidane 6/10 tactical nous is overcompesated by his 9/10 man-management and technical qualities. Tactically Zidane ranks lower than the likes of Simeone, Klopp, Flick, Sarri, Pep, Bielsa, Conte, Gasperini, Hen Tag, Nagelsmann, Tuchel and Marco Rose. |

Ibime: Portugal are getting better especially if Jota is fit.
CR7 upfront, Fernandes CAM, Jota LW, Bernardo Silva, RW.
Dias CB, Cancelo RB. Only hiccup is they didn't pick Pereira for that RB due to fitness issues so Guerrero at LB. Pepe at CB is the only concern there.
Rui Patricio in goal is solid enough.
Apart from Ruben Neves, their CM is looking shaky though Danilo of PSG with Ruben Neves and Fernandes will make a formidable midfield trio add William Carvalho if he's selected then you have a balance midfield. I see Portugal and France as favorites followed by Belgium because their golden generation will want to win something and they have the players to deliver bar mentality issues |

I am suggesting we give Trevor Chalobah a chance in DM or get Gravenbarch (I hope the spelling right), a CM/DM that can cover ground with a good pass on him will do us a lot of good. most of the games we lost this season have us conceding goals via counterattacks or setpieces, we need physical presence in midfield and defence. As for the attack we need goalscoring wide forwards like Sancho who can lay the ball for our center forward and also chip in with his own goals. |

Ibime: I've been watching Haaland recently.
There is something a bit Abrahamish about him. I'm not convinced. Oga Ibime that boy is not in the league of Abraham he's delivered both in Bundesliga and UCL at least if his Buli numbers doesnt convince you his UCL numbers should. Last week during DFB Pokal Final he bodied Upamecano just like what he did to Dias during their UCL QF tie. He is quick for his size and his positioning is like that of Cavani making him difficult to mark and he's aggressive too. |

donjazet: Fantastic foresight you've got there. As for me, I called him a relatively unknown person and as of then he was. It's fair to say he no longer is. He has shown the world the stuff he's made of.
i still feel iffy about our board and their characteristic shenanigans. They need to act now and give Tuchel his long term contract and stick to it. He has undoubtedly shown that he deserves it. You don't win the top 5 coaches in world football by luck or chance. He has shown a shrewd and uncanny ability to play to each players strength and set them up tactically to complement themselves. The board needs to back him up and give him the players he asks for and most importantly stand by him when his bad spell comes. Trust in him to get us back to this very moment we are. This moment where we look and feel invincible. TRUST is the keyword. We must not be reactionary. Tuchel has shown himself to be a rare gem. Hopefully we keep him this time and make a legend out of him. I can understand our board rash decision to hire and fire managers whenever they fail to deliver titles, we don't have a big stadium to increase match day revenue and marketability of the traditional European powerhouses so without trophies to boost revenue the club will run into serious financial crisis and lose its marketing appeal. Also, the club in their bid to buy players to achieve the objective they sometimes fail to buy players suitable for the team and this create squad imbalance thus leading to poor performance on the field of play. |

Nonsense. Since it didn't happen there is nothing to much say, a player that's a box-to-box midfielder having a recurring injury and also entering his 30s should be sold before he loses his playing value in a highly competitive league and club. My suggestion wasn't far from the truth that the coach gambled and it worked doesn't invalidate the fact also the unreliability of Kovacic and the inexperience of Gilmour were a factor. |

Amoto94: It is a sad development. I knew Lampard have a lot to learn when we Hired him and sounded the alarm before he was hired him but I was fully onboard when he was handed over the reigns. If the board were not going to back him through thick and thin to see out the project why hire him in the first place? To pacify the fans or warm up to media? The results have been underwhelming putting everything into perspective but the coach is not at fault for majority of the lackluster performances, from players committing silly mistakes to lack of energy in key moments. On the Tuchel appointment, he is a fantastic student of the game whom I rank alongside Pep, Sarri, Bielsa, Klopp, Conte when it comes to positional play and attacking with purpose but he is a combustible character when he doesn't get what he wants. For him to succeed he need to unite the players as the dressing room will be divided at present, the season is still salvageable especially with FA and a top four finish within sight. I hope he gives Gilmour and CHO a good run of games with Havertz playing centrally. Tuchel acted the way I expected him to do when he was appointed and the results are there for all to see. |
