Not falsehood brother but common sense.
When u get to that point in life where u realize that somethings will never be in ur control... that's when u start to be mature.
Following the manufacturers recommendations (fully)is out our control we must use our heads to keep the cars running.
It doesn't make any sense to use expensive probably fake oil on a vehicle that is more than 10yrs old when u know that u can't follow all d manufacturers recommendations.
It is hypocrisy when u follow recommended oil and not follow (required) fuel type
Using d wrong type of fuel for any car will do more harm to the vehicle than non recommended lubricants.
The primary purpose of engine oils is to lubricate moving parts in a vehicle...most oils will do this.
Any oil u use to service ur vehicle..u will still need another car in the future.
Even the manufacturers are not perfect....this is why u have recalls.
Whatever works for u follow it, don't say u r right and I am wrong.
That is what I have been telling these guys here... I have driven benz for years now
.. it is just madness to use premium oil on a car that is over 10yrs old or over 100,000 kilometers... It's just doesn't make sense

If the engine is new then you can use such oil it would reduce the wear and year but not when you buy a tokunbo 2006 benz that you don't know the oil the previous owner used or even ha w access to know the level of depreciation and wear that has happened. You go dey shout Mobil 1 up and down

Abeg those that are hawking Mobil 1 here make una no vex... Have to tell them the truth

Not all cars recommend premium unleaded fuel. For those that do, there are consequences of not using it. I know because I have a Nissan that recommends minimum of 91 RON, of course it is not available here. Guess what, my knock sensor get bad within 3-4 months of use. My point is there are consequences for not following manufacturer's recommendations, no matter how little. Those little consequences can now snowball into major issues in the long run.

All engines have wear and tear from use, yes. But use of the right fluids is going to greatly reduce that wear and tear, for example, using coolant instead of water slows down the spread of corrosion in your cooling system.

There are cars that are on 5W-30, and are already over 300,000km, no oil shorts. That our 99 Avensis comes to mind. Stop wallowing in ignorance.

I'm not convincing you to use the right fluids, but stop selling falsehood as facts.
99 Avensis...that one Na grand father! That car should be totalled if it was in USA ...the engine has seen the greater part of the day ...my take is simple . ..don't make it look as if Mobil 1 is the best ans beside that factor climatic conditions also...it's not the type of oil you use in Alaska is the one you use in Nebraska or Jeddah or even Lagos

So that is the take and factor depreciation and wears

Theres one thing you forgot to add in this narrative. The Igbos of the old Western Region, that later became part of the Midwestern Region, were never given a referendum to join the Eastern Region. The referendum was about giving a group of ethnic nationalities who were not predominantly Yoruba, a separate Region. So when you say that the so called 'Delta Igbos' didn't ask to be united with the East, that does not even arise since that option was not on the table.

Also, you talk about 'unique ethnicity'. No such thing ever existed in the Regions. The Eastern Region had Ijaws, Igbos, Ibibios, Ogonis

The Northern Region had Hausas, Fulanis, Berom, Tiv

The Midwest had Uhrobo, Igbos, Edo, Itsekiri

So where is this unique ethnicity the Regions were based on?

The most laughable thing about all this is you saying that the so called 'Delta Igbo' has nothing in common with Eastern Region. Somebody speaks Igbo as his ancestral language, has an Igbo surname but he has nothing in common with Igbo? Are you for real?

Agbor is a town close to the border of Edo state, yet, an Edo man cannot understand the Igbo language of Agbor people. The king of Agbor is a man called Ikechukwu Keagborekuzi, an Igbo name. Yet you say that these Agbor people have more in common with Edo than me, an Igbo man who speaks the same ancestral language as them and have the same surname with them.

You people are just too much
Their stupidity is legendary...trust me he wouldn't respond again

When the Truth Prevails

When Sam Amuka with Sad Sam as his pen name came up with the idea of Punch Newspapers, he invited his friend Olu Aboderin to take care of the finances for him to stay focus on the publications.

They became partners on equal percentages on the ownership of Newspapers ready to challenge the control of the market by Daily times, Nigeria Tribune or so. The market wanted a fresh idea and Punch became the new thing then.

Unknown to him, his friend Aboderin an Accountant was playing with figures in the share distribution and by the time Sam Amuka realised what Aboderin did, it was too late.

Aboderin had used surrogates to acquire the shares of Punch until one day, Sam Amuka found his office locked up. His capital shares in the company had been reduced to less than 5 percent.

Sam took the case to the regular Court and public opinion court. it was hopeless for him to win in Nigeria Court. I believe the court blamed him for given open blanket trust to his friend. Some of the document he had signed without reading them, unknown to him the document were not in good faith.

Aboderin breached the trust his friend Amuka had in him however, Sam won his case in the minds of most Nigerians. He was cheated by a smart Accountant was the views of the public or what else could it be?

Somehow, Sam Amuka survived the depression, he rolled up his sleeves, he renewed his faith with his God, if he did it once he could do it again.

Punch Newspapers almost the favorite of all Nigerians was his baby, his sweat and production, his friend or enemy, an accountant confused him with figures not only in the board room but also in the Court.

Sam Amuka did the obvious with the support of Nigerians who saw his pain and tears. He established Vanguard Newspapers and his goodwill became the very foundation of his venture, he has learnt to show interest in figures of his new company more than just publishing news for Nigerians.

One good leason from the economic history is this simple, Sam Amuka never prayed for Punch Newspapers to fail, instead, he focused on Vanguard and both papers kept faith with the fresh ideas Sam Amuka laid down for the industry. He avoided Aboderin and never granted any interview on the matter, a decent man with a pen, a prolific writer with conscience is just one of the ways to acknowledge this man called Sam Amuka.

The smart man who took Punch from him is dead. Sam Amuka is still alive and will still be with us for a long time. God willing is the prayers of the Oracle whose pen name then was Sad Sam. God has been kind to Sam Amuka, he saw the end of his misfortunes and will never have to worry again.

Each time, the two newspapers are seen on the streets of Nigeria or online I still remember the legal matters of the seventies or eighties or so. It was a complete story on breach of Trust among friends.

Please let us learn something from this story. It is well , even in the well. Beware of greedy friends.

After a hundred or so thousand miles on your engine, engine internals start to display a certain level of wear after millions and millions or revs over the years. Moving parts like crankshaft, pistons, valves, camshafts and so on are no longer precisely fitted inside of the engine block or engine head and the car loses compression and therefore performance and fuel economy. In other, simpler words, the car is old and tired.

Why can't we hold civil convos on here, without making it personal?

Anyway, I'm an accountant, I'll permit you to lecture me more on salvage value - or the glaring fact that depreciation expense is used to allocate the cost of a tangible asset over its useful life. Humor me more, since I may not know how to determine the book value of an asset sorry in this case a liability.

You've a personal car and consider it an asset? Apart from the obvious ease of movement, how much does it make for you? Can you quantify the amount the car saves you? Do you know how a balance sheet works in real life? The question is what is your car's current Book Value? Maybe physics can solve it for you
My dear it's a two way street... It is either you agree or not .. the truth is that an engine that has over q
100,000 kilometers has seen better days and have depreciated. The salvage value of a car is calculated by determining the average life of your vehicle, then factoring in depreciation of that car. ... You are an accountant so I shouldn't be telling you this bro...

Don't even think that your clean looking engine with over 100,000k is still amazing .. it has seen better days are with any. At from 2005 to 2009... I am realistic

Big man, I understand you perfectly, at least we are both very practical men. Although your 100k odometer analogy is a bit off.

Now take a look at both attached pictures (daily drivers); Lexus IS is at 159,510 km (almost at 100k miles on the dot), Merc E320 is at 376,527 km (236k miles or so). Lexus still runs on factory recommended oil, Merc runs on 15w50, thinking of changing to 20w50 if oil shortage intervals increase beyond the current threshold.
Irrespective of popular opinion or expert advise - I'm not going to replace or repair/rebuild anything, that engine go work him money complete, but you see that IS? Na only fresh Mobil 1/Castrol we go give am until him cheap engine decide kaput too.

The long write up you are referring to by AmuDimpka is very true. That is how Physics/Mechanics work.

You are right that Mercedes recommends Mobil 1 0w40 for the C230 (recommendation as at when new) but not when the said car is 13 or 14 years old.

Let me ask you, the HID lamps some people use on their cars, is it factory recommended?

The PMS rating you use in driving your Mercedes, is it the Mercedes (Premium Unleaded petrol) recommended?

Bros, na Physics here. If the engineers of the C230 were to come and give a recommendation on the appropriate viscosity for this 14 year old car today, it won't be Mobil I 0w40.

Get a high mileage oil...Forte has it.

High-mileage oils are specially formulated for older vehicles or newer vehicles with over 100,000 kilometres on the odometer. High mileage oils, with a special blend of additives and formulation, helps to reduce burn-off of engine oil and concurrently helps to prevent oil leaks that may occur in older or high-mileage engines.
