Like I said i've never been, it seem to me that Yorubas like living in closer proximity to their nieghbors than igbos (or prehaps this is a result of larger families/polygamy?).

Even in the cities, Abeokuta, Ibadan and so forth fit a lot of houses and people into a small compact area, where as igbo cities are more delineated and spaced out, even very populous ones like Onitsha and Aba aren't as compact as Abeokuta and/or Ibadan. I think that's an interesting cultural difference.

For your information those monarchs are speaking for themselves not the Yorubas. Those are the monarchs that feed fat on smuggling, the farm produce thing was just to blackmail the government policy on the border closure.

The Yorubas support fully the closure of the border most especially to prevent the criminal Igbos (hardworking Igbos) that snuggles weapons through those borders.

Progress is progress, and the fact that he does such feat in another part of Nigeria shows the kind of value he's getting from there. He is a business man afterall and, such acts improve his credibility and customer loyalty, not to talk of the increased traffic to his business as a result of the fixed road. He is investing, dummy. If he does this in the East, it will be cos of the return value not stupid ethnic sentiments.

She kept lying about this guy who happened to be a medical doctor, I am unemployed but sell phone accessories and do mini importation on the side but doing my Masters.

It happened that one time she told me she was to travel to Asaba to meet her family members, on hearing this I was happy and looked forward to talking to them.

After spending the night at my place I put her in a bus to Asaba, she didn't pick my calls till the next day.

The next day she posted an outing pic of herself in an eatery I didn't see it as anything but it's the next one that broke me.

A guy took a picture of her with her phone while backing a glass door so I could take that he wore a blue shirt I called that day and when I asked playfully to talk to the family members she asked me "what kind of talk is that ?"

Not long from then I got tagged in a picture on her wall on Facebook, low and behold it was a selfie of her and the Medical doctor in blue shirt and the caption "I love you forever, my personal person" someone she said I shouldn't worry about but he is asking her out, that she knew months before meeting me. She was supposed to be away for 2 days and ended up coming back after a week.

On seeing this I called to demand for an explanation if they were related, she sighed cut the phone on me and didn't pick my calls ever again.

She left me for a Medical Doctor!!

One month later now she calls me out of the blue to ask for 2k to buy foodstuffs. Which I gave without saying a word.

Fast forward to today I got a job with the government and relocated to Abuja.

She called me later shedding crocodile tears and begging for me back.

People of Nairaland, what would you have me do? What will you do if you were in my shoes? It's not my fault she didn't see the bigger picture.

She isn't the first woman that has left me for a better person.

the real question you guys should ask yourselves is if you are the best at what you do in your different profession? and maybe collectively we can make the country better.

With Hausa as President, don't expect a revamp in any institution. They are the most daft, most backward race in Nigeria. Nigeria will never Progress as long as Hausa still hold the position of Power. Nigeria is stunted. You cannot have the best University, they are backward. No institution in the North is classified best in anything, Nepotism is their styles, where they remove every southerner and put a dull person in every position of Power

I dont think the OP intent is to steer up any anger or tribal bashing here ...It is just an innocent question that i found fascinating too. I too from the Niger Delta sometimes do wonder why so many Igbos travel to the east during the festive period especially in Decembers; even if it takes them to start their journey on the eve of Christmas and arrived there on Christmas day..It is just a question that requires a simple answer to educate others. Though this practice is not only peculiar to the Igbos but the Igbos travel more than other tribes to thier villages during the festive period and it is a big deal for them...Anyway sorry you took it the wrong way.
