3 Pieces of Advice vs 20 Years of Salary"
A very poor newly wedded, young couple lived in a small
farm. One day the husband made the following proposal to
his wife:
- Honey, I will leave the house: I will travel faraway, get a job
and work hard in order to come back and give you the
comfortable life that you deserve. I do not know how long I
will stay away, I only ask one thing, please wait for me, and
while I am away, you should be faithful to me, because I will
be faithful to you.
So the young man left. He walked many days until he found
a farmer who was in need of someone to help him. The
young man offered his services. He was accepted.
Therefore he discussed the terms with his boss:
- Let me work for as long as I want and when I think I
should go home, please relieve me of my duties. I do not
want to receive my salary. I ask you to save it for me, until
the day I leave. The day I decide to go, please give me the
money and I will go my way.
They agreed on that. So, the young man worked for twenty
years without holiday and without rest. After twenty years,
he came to his boss and said:
- Boss, I want my money, because I am returning to my
home.
The boss replied:
- All right, after all, I made a deal with you and I will stick to
it. However, before you go I want to offer you something
new: I will give you all your money and send you away; or I
will give you 3 pieces of advice and send you away. If I give
you the money, I do not give you the 3 pieces of advice. And
if I give you the 3 pieces of advice, I will not give you the
money. Now, go to your room and think about your answer.
He thought for two days. Then he went to the boss and told
him:
- I want the 3 pieces of advice.
The boss stressed again:
- If I give you the 3 pieces of advice, I will not give you the
money.
And the man replied:
- I want the 3 pieces of advice.
The boss then told him:
- No. 1: Never take shortcuts in your life, shorter and
unknown paths can cost your life.
- No. 2: Never be too curious, for curiosity towards evil can
be deadly.
- No. 3: Never make decisions in moments of anger or pain,
because when you repent, it could be too late.
After giving these 3 pieces of advice, the boss said to him:
- Here, you have 3 loaves of bread, 2 are for you to eat
during the journey and the last is for you to eat with your
wife when you get home.
So, the man went his way, after twenty years away from
home and from his wife, whom he loved so much.
After the first day of travel, he found a man who greeted him
and asked:
- Where are you going?
He replied:
- To a distant place which is about 20 days away if I
continue walking.
The man said to him:
- Ol' boy, this path is too long! I know a shortcut that is very
safe and you will arrive in 5 days only.
The man began to follow the path suggested until he
remembered the first piece of advice. Then, he returned and
followed the long path. Days later he learned that the
shortcut led to an ambush.
After a few more days of travel, he found an inn by the
roadside, where he could rest. He paid for a room and after
taking a bath he lay down to sleep.
During the night he woke up as he heard a terrifying
scream. He rose to his feet and went to the door to check
what happened. As he was opening the door, he
remembered the second piece of advice. Therefore he
returned, lay down again and slept.
At dawn, after breakfast, the owner of the lodging asked him
if he had not heard the scream at night. He affirmed that he
heard. Then, the host said:
- Were you not curious to see what happened?
And he replied:
- No, I was not.
Then the host said:
- You are the first guest to leave this inn alive. My neighbour
is completely crazy. He usually shouts at night to call
someone’s attention. When some of the guests come out,
he kills them and buries their bodies in the backyard.
The man continued his long journey, eager to arrive soon.
After many days and nights walking, he was very tired, but
he finally saw his house far away.
It was night. He saw some light coming out of the window of
his house and was able to see the silhouette of his wife. But
he also saw that she was not alone. He came closer and
saw there was a man with her. She softly caressed his hair.
When he saw that scene, his heart was filled with hatred and
bitterness. He decided to rush at and kill them both
mercilessly. However, he took a deep breath and he
remembered the third piece of advice.
Then he stopped, reflected and decided to sleep outside that
night. He slept in the midst of the bushes, determined to
make a decision the next day. At dawn, he was calmer and
thought:
- I will not kill my wife and her lover. I am going back to my
boss to ask him to take me back. But before I go, I want to
tell my wife that I have always been faithful to her.
He went to the front door and knocked. When his wife
opened the door and recognized him, she cried and
embraced him warmly. He tried to push her away, but he
was not able. Then, with tears in his eyes he told her:
- I was faithful to you but you betrayed me.
She was shocked, so she replied:
- How did I betray you? I have never betrayed you. I waited
patiently for you for twenty good years.
Then he asked:
- How about the man that you were caressing yesterday?
And she said:
- That man is your son. When you left, I discovered I was
pregnant. Today he is twenty years old.
Hearing that, the man asked her forgiveness. He met and
hugged his son. Then he told them all the things he had
experienced while away. Meanwhile, his wife prepared some
coffee for them to eat together, the last bread given by his
boss.
After a prayer of thanksgiving, he broke the bread. When he
looked at it, he found all his money inside. In fact, there was
even more than the right payment for his twenty years of
dedication and hard work.
Friends, our God is like this boss. When he asks us to make
a sacrifice, he wants to give us more than what we give
Him. He wants us to have His unique wisdom as well as the
material blessings.

Maybe a muslim, but he asked me, who is Jesus?’’ I was preaching he is not God, but the question is who is he? To know who is Jesus? I read the entire Koran once again: 114 chapters, 6666 in the Koran when I read it, the name of prophet Muhammad. I found it in Koran 4 places, but the name of Jesus I found in 25 places. There itself, I was a little confused. Why does the Koran give more preference to Jesus? And second thing, I could not see any woman’s name in Koran: the Prophet Muhammad’s mother’s name, or wife’s name, no, in the Koran, there is only one woman’s name that i found is Mariam, the mother of Jesus no other woman’s name. And in the holy Koran chapter 3, the name of the chapter is family of Mariam,’’ and holy Koran chapter 19, the name of the chapter itself is ‘’MARIAM’’ one chapter is ‘’MARIAM’’ so I was very curious to know why does Koran says all these things about MARIAM, holy Koran chapter 3 verse 34 onwards says that Mary was born without original sin, she never committed any sin in her life, she was ever virgin.
Koran chapter 50 verses 23 say that she went to heaven with her physical body. Even the assumption is writing in the holy Koran and then about Jesus, when I read chapter 3 verses 45 to 55 verses, there is 10 point which the Koran makes about Jesus. The first thing Koran says (kallimatulli) the arabic word which means ‘’the of God’’ and second thing is ( ahimokuli ) which mean spirit of God and the third (isa masi) which means Jesus Christ so Koran give the name for Jesus WORD OF GOD, SPIRIT OF GOD, JESUS CHRIST. And then Koran says that Jesus spoke when he was very small, like 2 days old. after his birth he began to speak , Koran says that Jesus created a live bird with mud. He took some mud, he formed a bird; when breathed into it, it became a live bird. So I think Jesus can give life because he gave life to mud, clay, and then Koran says that Jesus cured a man born blind and a man with leprosy, e.t.c
Curiously, the Koran says that Jesus gave life to dead people; Jesus went to heaven; he is still alive and he will come again. When I saw all these things in the Koran I taught of what Koran says about Muhammad, according to the Koran, prophet Muhammad is not the word of God, not spirit of God he never spoke when he was 2 days old, he never created any bird with mud, he never cure any sick people, he never raised any dead people, he himself died, and according to Islam he is not alive and he will not come back. So there is a lot of different between these two prophets. I didn’t call Jesus, God, you know my idea was ‘’He is a prophet but he is a prophet greater than Muhammad; so one day I went to my teacher, the one who taught me 10 years in Arabic college, and I ask him, teacher, how did God created the universe? Then he said God created the universe through the word,’’ THROUGH THE WORD. Then my question is: ‘’WORD’’ is creator or creation? He must clear this, my question is whether the WORD of God is creator or creation. Koran says Jesus is WORD of God. If my teacher says word of God is creator, which means Jesus is the creator, then muslim must become Christian suppose if he says the word is creation he will be trapped. You know why? He said everything was created through the word. Suppose if he said the word is creation, then how did God created the word? So he cannot say that the word is creator, or creation, so he was quite angry he push me out of his room and said word is not God, not creator or the creation you get out of here, ‘’he said
The reason why Muslim doesn’t accept to be Christian is because they are blinded with the wrong teaching of their priest, Imam. They said that the word is creation they try to prove it wrongly…… they say the word is not creator, not the creation, but not God. And no creation also. They don’t equal with God, that all their problem. So when he said that I told my teacher, word is not the creator or the creation.’’ So, that is why Christian says the word is son of God. Then he told me if there is son for God, I must show him the wife of God. That without wife no chance of having a son then I showed him a portion from the Koran. Koran says that God can see without eyes, God can talk without tongue, God can hear without ears. It is writing in the Koran. I said if that is the case, so God can have a child without a wife. I took my Koran, I put it on my chest, and I said ‘’Allah’’, tell me what I should do because your Koran says Jesus is still alive, and Mohammad is no more. Tell me whom should I accept.’’ after my prayer I opened the Koran, I didn’t asked anyone, I asked only my Allah. When I opened Koran, I saw chapter 10 verses 94. You know what Koran says? It says if you have any doubt in this Koran which I give to you, go and read the Bible, or ask the people, those who read the Bible. The truth is already revealing that.
I beg all muslim to give their life to Christ because he is the only way to the kingdom of God. Please don’t perish like other muslims that is serving the god they do not know. I welcome you into Christ Jesus as you change your mind to accept him today. God bless you.

Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, (JAMB) – Great relief for admission seekers as JAMB has revealed that the discrimination in degrees in the country will soon come to an end when HND is transformed into Bachelor Of Technology.
The Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, (JAMB), Prof. Dibu Ojerinde has said President Muhammadu Buhari is willing to implement the waiver that will end the B.Sc and HND segregation.

Buhari had received the updated report on the B.Sc and HND controversy, which was presented by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, MacJohn Nwaobiala last Tuesday.

Ojerinde, who spoke with reporters on Wednesday, recalled that the last administration set up a committee to look at how the two could be merged.
He said, "The system has not given adequate vision for the other levels of education. We have not encouraged technical education, we have not encouraged Teachers education also; in fact, we have not encouraged agricultural education to the extent that everybody feels that the only way to survive is to go to the University.

"The only way to make it is to have a degree; so I am saying we should revisit our system, we should look at why candidates don't want to go to polytechnics, and we should look at why they don't want teachers’ education; we should also revisit why they don't want agriculture.

"By our experience, most people will like to study law, engineering, medicine, accountancy, these are the top courses being sought for in the universities; nobody wants to study education. So, I see we have problems in that area and I am sure the Federal Ministry of Education is trying to solve that problem.

"First of all Technical Education, there's dichotomy between Bachelors degree and National Diploma or Higher National Diploma, (HND). It was one of the things presented to Mr. President to find a way of implementing the waiver of the dichotomy between HND and the B.Sc degree. The so called HND should now be changed to B.tech which means Bachelor of Technology.

"Former President Musa Yar’Adua may his soul rest in peace, said he doesn't have any problem with B.tech. Unfortunately, government also has not sorted this entire problem. And there are such cases of people like me in this country, I wouldn't have been able to read, I wouldn't have been able to go to school. So what I am saying is, government should look at how we can improve technical education.

"Four colleges of Education have been upgraded to universities of Education, you will see the rush into those universities now because they can now get bachelor's degree. And when they come to the public, they will not be a push away. So this is where we are, I think if I go by what we saw on Wednesday, President Buhari and the Vice President listened and they were interested in what we presented".

The curious case of the young generations by FEMI PEDRO
"Sometime in 1988, I received a call from a good friend, Mr Akin Akintoye, about an interesting investment opportunity with a few colleagues. After a series of meetings, it became very clear to me that we were about to embark on an audacious but incredibly special journey, and I was excited about the prospect of being a part of such a project. For almost 2 years, I worked alongside the likes of Akin Akintoye, Fola Adeola, Tayo Aderinokun (of blessed memory), Gbolly Osibodu, Bode Agusto and a few others on this investment project. As of 1988 when we began the journey, Fola was 34, Tayo was 33, Gbolly was 33, Bode was 33, Akin was 35 and I was 33. The objective: To own a BANK.
It was a bold objective considering our respective ages at the time, but certainly not an impossible task in our eyes. So we began to hold countless meetings at Fola’s residence in 1988, until we eventually shifted base to Tayo’s First Marina Trust office in Victoria Island. By late 1989, we were ready to put in our bank application at CBN, along with the required minimum capital. This effort was spearheaded by Fola and Tayo (the two brains behind the entire operation), and supported by about 40 persons (including myself), most of whom were in their early 30s and working for different organizations at the time. The end product? We formed arguably one of the finest financial institutions Nigeria has ever seen- Guaranty Trust Bank (known as GT Bank today). The bank was licensed on the 1st of August, 1990 and we commenced banking operations later that year. A group of young boys in their early/mid 30s OWNED a bank! We simply dreamt big, and turned this dream into reality.
I am taking the liberty to reflect on this chapter of my personal history against the backdrop of some of the criticism about the ages of some of President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial nominees. The argument being brandished about is that by nominating the likes of Chief Audu Ogbeh as ministers, our President is somehow blocking the destinies of younger Nigerians by preventing them from occupying such positions. People are quick to reference Yakubu Gowon and Murtala Mohammed as being relatively young when they ascended to power, and they argue that the same opportunities that young people had in the past are no longer available today. They also argue that around the same time we were forming GT Bank in the late eighties, there were also a number successful young entrepreneurs who distinguished themselves as well - Bola Tinubu (Treasurer at Mobil Oil), Gbade Ojora (ED Mobil Oil), Jim Ovia (Zenith Bank), Erastus Akingbola (Intercontinental), Dele Momodu (Publishing), Tony Elumelu (Standard Trust), Liyel Imoke (Politics), O’tega Emerhor (Standard Alliance Insurance), Aig Imoukhuede and Herbert Wigwe (Access) and Atedo Peterside (IBTC) are some of the noteworthy youngsters who made an impact in various fields in Nigeria at the time. But what some of the proponents of the argument against the older ministerial nominees fail to realize or remember is that even in my early thirties, we also had very established industrialists like MKO Abiola, Otunba Subomi Balogun, etc, who all operated during our time. We respected them, but neither felt overwhelmed by their success, nor daunted by the prospects of climbing up the ladder. We simply forged ahead with our plans and damned the consequences. The point is nobody cleared the way for us back then, so young Nigerians today should not expect that anyone would clear the way for them either.
Perhaps, at play is the venting of some on-going frustrations by the younger generation today, but it is important to put things into proper perspective. I have spent a lot of time mentoring, observing and interacting with young Nigerians. Today’s youth are no different from those of my generation about 30 years ago. They are faced with the same pressures, frustrations, uncertainties and life vicissitudes that we faced then. If you they can have the knowledge to vote for you, then they can likewise have the knowledge to lead.

Ile-Ife is an ancient town with many historic tourist attractions,ranging  from the Palace of the Ooni in Enuwa, the Ife Museum and many others.

One of the top attractions at Ile-Ife is the Oranmiyan Staff (Opa Oranmiyan). The staff is above 18 feet and has some intricate designs on it. It has myth, history and culture around it.

It is a must-see for tourists. A visit to the ancient city of Ife would not be complete without seeing the staff. The Oranmiyan Staff can be seen at the Oranmiyan Shrine at the Arubidi quarter of Ile-Ife. Although certain traditional rites are performed there, it is still open to tourists. But there are some parts of the shrine that could only be accessed by the initiates.

On entering the shrine, the staff could be seen just about 40 feet away. It has a square shaped elevated demarcation made with stones. From atop the demarcation, there are three steps to walk down and get to the staff. It is further demarcated by a metal chain. The base of staff is covered with white clothes.  On the left is a small grove with tall trees shielding it from visitors. Walking further behind the staff will lead to the inner sanctum said to be for only the initiates.

The Oranmiyan obelisk is hundreds of years old and has history behind. Lawrence Omidiora, an Ife indigene, acted as a guide on the tour of the shrine.



“Opa Oranmiyan symbolizes the essence of Ile Ife, first as the traditional source of the Yoruba people because Oranmiyan is a descendant of Oduduwa, the progenitor of the Yoruba race. He was the grandson of Oduduwa,” he said.

“As at the time the other Yoruba towns were being established, Oranmiyan played a prominent role in the establishment of traditional rulership in these new locations in Yorubaland. It was Oranmiyan that established dynasties in Benin and Oyo. Benin was first before Oyo,” he said.

Although the Oranmiyan staff is said to have been used by Oranmiyan, the round obelisk   does  not look a staff a human being could carry. Omodiora said he was not aware  of any known archeological research on the obelisk to confirm the veracity of this myth about the staff.

Omidiora explained the myth and story behind the staff.

“Oranmiyan was a great warrior and he had a sword. At the point of his death, he dropped the sword and it transformed into the staff as we see it today. The marks you see on it are letters that some scholars said have close relationship with Greek letters.”

Although tourists to the shrine are allowed to stand at the elevated demarcation and take pictures, they are not allowed to go near and touch the obelisk.

According to Omidiora, the obelisk still has strong supernatural powers: “There is a belief that the staff is a living soul and must be appeased.  That is why members of the two families, Eredumi and Akogun, are involved in its worship up till today. In the period of the inter-tribal wars, the staff was always consulted before wars and the powers from the staff helped to secure victories over enemies,” he said.

Despite its age and history, the staff still plays an important role in the installation of traditional rulers of some towns and cities. He said: “Before some kings are installed, the sword of  office for each of these kings must be removed from the the Oranmiyan Shrine and given to them.”

Also, according to the guide, the Oranmiyan Staff plays a role in the installation of a new Ooni of Ife since the staff, an embodiment of not just the spirit of Oranmiyan, but of all the other Ooni that had ruled Ile-Ife.

The guide further said: “The attributes of Oranmiyan must be embraced by the Ooni. He  needs these to effectively function. Some of these attributes are within the shrine and with the staff of Oranmiyan. So it is important for a person ascending the throne of Ooni  to be familiar with the shrine and staff.”

Approaching a place of worship and seeing security operatives and military officers armed with guns, war weapons, amoured tanks and security dogs surrounding and scanning the entrance gates and the walls, do you see a tight security or do you see the abominations that cause desolation now standing in the supposed holy places?
In our mega churches today, every one is being subjected to thorough searching before allowing entry. "The Lord is my Shield" verse in the Bible has since been forgotten as our religious leaders are now being guarded, even on the altars by men on long black suit with black guggle covering their eyes. Those who come with babies no longer keep them on seats while giving offering, this is to avoid the babies being kidnapped by others in the same temple. The children departments are being "protected" by military men to avoid paying ransom to kidnappers. Anyone who chooses to close eyes while praying may open the eyes to found himself or herself in another place. Mobile phones and cars are often being stolen from their owners by some people among the multitudes. What an unsafe place to be!
It all started long ago. It got started when some pastors, for greedy purposes will lobby to be posted to where there are more members. It got started when some elders will be fighting and even killing themselves in orser to become their church treasurers. It got started when some men in the church will kill themselves just because they want to become the Harvest Committee Chairman. It got started when some well-placed people in the church will connive with armed robbers who still happen to be members of the church to cart away with offerings and tithes. It got started when some pastors will connive with some elders to dupe the church. It all got started when greed was placed ahead of salvation. Now what we have today is unnecessary competition for wealth and vanity which have led to serious insecurity in our places of worship.
In our churches today, Brethren have betrayed brethren. Love of many have grown cold. The elect are stumbling. Soothsayers and fortune tellers are being celebrated as men of God. False prophets and diviners are getting much domination. Miracles are for the highest bidders. The rich are glorified as servants of the Almighty. Testimonies are all about material acquisitions. The Measure of church progress is in the number of members. More lands and houses built determine if the ministry is moving. Power brokers have politicized the holy place as Pastors are seeing campaigning for politicians. Immorality and social vices are on the increase. The poor are alienated as cursed and demonized. The rich are celebrated and called "blessed". No provision for the down trodden and hospitalized. No help to those imprisoned and inmates. The motherless and orphans are left to NGOs. And finally, the global nude life style and legalization of immoral practices announce another era of damnation.
This is where we have found ourselves. This is what we have converted the religion to. We have wandered too far away from the truth. The same question the Apostles could not answer when Jesus asked if He will meet this faith when He comes back, we are gradually telling Jesus that He might not meet the faith again when He comes back. Our father's houses should be places of prayer and worship, but now occupied as dens of robbers. I ask once again, who shall ascend unto the hill of the Lord? Religious people, good Afternoon.

The late social crusader, Fela Anikulapo Kuti has turned out to be the veritable prophet who saw tomorrow.  In his songs he prophetically predicted that the same failed leaders who ruined Nigeria in the past will be continually recycled to come back and rule the nation again and again one way or the other.

How true his prophecies have been. In the last 16 years Nigeria has returned Olusegun Obasanjo who was a military head of state in 1976 and Muhammadu Buhari who was a military head of state in 1984. In between, other rulers such as Musa Yar’Adua who is a younger brother to late General Yar’Adua was facilitated by Obasanjo as a continuation of the dynasty of returning former rulers.  Likewise, many of the top government officials that have continued to dominate the political scene in the last 16 years have been men of yesteryears. The likes of Audu Ogbeh, Bamangar Tukur and Ahmadu Alli amongst others have been in the political ring for more than three decades and counting. Interestingly, Buhari’s recently revealed ministerial list, an obnoxious roll call of recycled governors and politicians did not in any way depart from Fela’s prophecies.
Yet of all Fela’s prophetic songs, there is one that stands out as a defining description of the present times and that song is “Zombie,” a song in which the Nigerian army was characterised as a Zombie army that follows  their leaders blindly without any  interrogation. In today’s Nigeria, we have a new set of Zombies in Buhari’s followers who have chosen to be led by the nose even as Buhari has repudiated all the campaign promises, principles and essence of the change movement that had supposedly galvanized their support. Even though there was always the undercurrent of sectarianism as a driver of Buhari’s support base, I was one of those who initially thought that many of those who supported him did so on principle believing him to be a genuine vehicle of change. I only began to change my mind when some of those individuals  continued to blindly defend Buhari even when the facts had become obvious to the contrary.

In the course of the campaign, certain key fundamentals were cited by Buhari’s supporters as the major planks of the basis of their support.  Most important was the promise to wage a relentless war against corruption, declare his assets and encourage others to do same, make EFCC independent so as to be able to fight corruption more effectively, quickly constitute a cabinet of incorruptible technocrats to tackle critical deficiencies in all sectors, end the war against Boko Haram in three months, pay a minimum of N5000 social welfare to the poor, introduce free meals in schools, take new initiatives on nation building and embark on a massive push for job creation. By any standard, these are lofty promises that would easily lure the unsuspecting. But soon after Buhari came to power the process of reneging on his promises began.

First he claimed he never promised to declare his assets, even though that declaration was the face of his campaign, but surprisingly his followers supported and even defended him, when he  eventually only partially declared his assets after much pressure and there were glaring discrepancies and outright lies from what had been earlier claimed, they still supported him. Then there was no move to make EFCC independent and the  promised corruption war turned out to be only noise in the media with no real action they still supported him, when his sectional appointments exposed him as a bigot who represents a danger to Nigerian unity they still supported him, then he denied all the campaign promises and they still supported him, finally when the promise of quickly appointing a ministerial cabinet of  incorruptible technocrats dragged on needlessly for 5 months and eventually he appointed only recycled corrupt ex-governors and politicians and they still supported him, I  realised that the nation is confronted  with a new generation of Zombies in Buhari’s followers who are not driven by any principles but are rather  content to be led by the nose without interrogating the lies, inconsistencies and repudiation of everything the Buhari campaign had promised.

If Nigeria was a nation driven by principles, Buhari would be on his own by now, having disowned every promise and principle that brought him to power, but like Fela Kuti prophesied, ours is a nation of Zombie hordes and thus no matter how much wrong he does his Zombie followers will continue to support, cheer and defend him as he rides roughshod on an already traumatised nation.

Aside that, uur kerosine allowance is steady paid by their principals. So don't confuse people. I served their and despite my lavish spending, I still came back to lagos with 200k+ maybe because of my xtral PPA sha. Cause I taught in one private skul and they were paying me 5kmonthly too. But I spent like crace and I saved 200+. So is good if people don't consider distance. And they are very nice and caring. But how could these be a reality when we go on a bottle of beer which is 180 (in a local joint), now check it out, if you drink an average of 5 bottles a day, that makes it 35 bottles a week. In a year you would have consumed 1820 bottles which amounts to N327,600. Just imagine if you have been drinking for 30years that will amount to N9.8million.
Many of my fellow youth out there have drunk bungalows, duplexes, estates, time for ideas, etc yet we sit aside insulting our elders without taking the bull by the head.

It baffles me why our graduates like to waste their precious time. Why is it that people don't struggle to set up a business or a system that can give them a lot of money. Listen my brother formal education will give you a cheque while self education will earn you a fortune. Stop wasting your time, not even for a job you can be sacked at any time. There are numerous opportunities out there that can make you rich and certainly its not paid employment. So please my dear brothers and sisters think beyond this contract job. One problem I know majority of our youth face today is this "quick rich" thing. Believe me if you can think very well you will understand that its only a matter of time, you will say thank God you were not given any employment letter because most of the jobs out there are total slavery. I have ideas that can make you rich. Feel free to ask me. All of us can do better than this please. I look forward to a day banks will start begging people to work for them. This is possible if only we could think outside the box.

SECOND Republic Politician, Dr. Tunji Braithwaite is not happy over the deep rot in the polity occasioned by mindless graft especially among the leadership class. This was the reason he made eradication of corruption (clearing rats, mosquitoes and cockroaches) the fulcrum of his presidential campaign in 1983 when he ran on the platform of the Nigeria Advance Party (NAP) which he founded. Currently, Braithwaite says President Muhammadu Buhari has not started fighting corruption despite claims to the contrary.
He said the arraignment of Senate President Bukola Saraki before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) is a misstep that will make Saraki a free man soon in spite of the criminal charges slammed against him. Braithwaite, who has been practising law since 1961, in this interview at his Victoria Island, Lagos home, fears that Nigeria is not completely free of military opportunism and its influence in the polity. Going down memory lane, he disclosed why Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Malam Aminu Kano could form an alliance in 1979 and why he ran against Awolowo in 1983 in spite of their closeness.

His assessment of  President Muhammadu Buhari administration so far
I spoke on a TV programme where people asked me questions on the latest appointments that he made – chief of staff, secretary to the government of the federation, etc, whether they were not slanted to the North.
Latest appointments I said may be so but I have other insight to the latest appointments because I know Buhari very well and he knows me. I said forget about the northern slant and look at other more significant things. The date of the announcement of those appointments was significant. The announcement was made on August 27, which was the anniversary of the Babangida coup that toppled Buhari in 1985.
I said people should think about that. Why would he make such pivotal announcement on such an anniversary? People should think. We should not take things on face value. So, it is clear to me that, Buhari for the moment, is not thinking about North and South. My analysis is that Buhari is thinking of the military. He wants to do something about the Nigerian military. If you looked at his latest appointments, two of the appointments were his former military colleagues. It shows that Nigeria is not yet out of the woods when it comes to military opportunism and he wants to clear his backyard first.
Much noise, no action against graft
We have heard a lot of noise being made about attacking corruption. What has he done about attacking corruption four months after he was sworn in? The fact that we are having better electricity supply and the refineries are working cannot be what he has done.
His body language, may be. But what we got all this time is military news. To me, he wants to make sure that military opportunists, military looters, who are still very much around in the  control and administration of this country directly or through their proxies are adequately handled.
How many people have been charged for corruption? Nobody. One military fellow, Sambo Dasuki, the former NSA has been taken to a Magistrates’ Court. Put your two and two together if you are a thinker.
What about Senate President Bukola Saraki being taken to the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT?
That is what I am saying. Saraki’s arraignment before the CCT will die a natural death. The charges that I heard read against Saraki were criminal, why take him to the CCT, which is like a bull dog without teeth? The CCT has not got criminal power.
Where should Saraki have been taken to?
He should have been taken to a court with criminal power to send people to jail if found guilty. The CCT cannot jail. You will find that this circus show will die a natural death.

You heard he is a cultist. You snapped and developed hatred immediately, the hatred was not just a conventional hatred that might diminish soon, the hatred was directly proportional to the story you heard about him. Therefore you could not believe it, you said “He is so young and He is just 16 and in SS1”. Out of the hatred, you still decided to investigate a little, and alas! You confirmed it! Now, you have seen him; Marijuana parting his lips, a tattooed of snake embrace his arm, and in his hand is a bottle of Vodka which he happily refer to as "AK-47". With what you've seen and heard of him before, your hatred towards him grew at a geometrical proportion, you stood afar and criticized him, you concluded within you that he has gone beyond "repair", you believed he had traveled beyond the path of redemption. With this, you happily told your friends that hell awaits him, you shook your head and said to yourself, “He is already doomed”.
But you do not know that within the “bad, hard guy” lies a fragile, aching heart, wanting to be loved and showed a little care. He only finds solace in his gang because his parent are on the brink of divorce. Since your types who are the "saints" and "religious" had already condemned him, he believed he's also doomed. But because his gangs showed him "love" and unrivaled "compassion", he believed them and will do whatever they asked him to do.
You failed to bring the “bad, hard guy” close and show him the truth, and now, he has fulfilled the request of his gang by raping his younger sister, leaving his whole family distraught and confused. His gang finally metamorphosed to robbery gang, he was caught and burnt beyond recognition. Though people are happy that they've killed a thief, but in the real sense, you have just contributed to the death of another soul.

Without asking her any questions, you managed to give her a rumpled ₦100 note, sent her away and told her never to come back to you again. She leaves, fighting tears, wondering how she would go back to her uncle who had sworn not to take care of her except she warms his bed.
Your ₦100 could not help that young girl, for she had finally yielded to the advances of her “rich and religious” uncle. Now, she has been deflowered, and all hormones have been let loose. She has been selling her body to all and sundry, and she has gotten pregnant. At present, her cold body is lying in a mortuary because of a failed D&C, just because you refused to bring her close and show her the ideals of life.
That man that stepped on you recently has been going through a hard time. He is a job-hunting father who just lost his only son and has been pondering on how to bury his dead. Yes, he bumped into you out of thinking, and before he could apologize, you have rained insults on him. You saw the tears well up in his eyes, and you think you have scored a point by treating his "Bleep up", because of that, you did not bother to show any empathy. To you, he is just a depressed fellow who should not bother others with his woes.
That depressed man you insulted was seen hanging from a mango tree recently. His suicide note read “I am too weak to carry on”. If you had shown him any form of sympathy, perhaps, he might have shared his burden with you. Then you would have let him know that in his weakness, God's strength is manifested.
You saw her in a bar, wreaking of alcohol. She kept laughing and muttering to herself “Why me? Why me?” You walked past her, even though a voice inside of you kept telling you to find out her problem. You shut the voice down and tagged her “A cheap drunk. A woman for that matter”. You even went as far as taking a photograph of her in order to put it on Facebook so that you can warn other females to be more "responsible".
But that "cheap drunk" is a widow who had just been diagnosed with breast cancer. Moreover, she just lost her job a month ago. Now, she thinks those bottles of alcohol could wash away her sorrow, or at least to temporarily forget her situation.
That “cheap drunk” is now on the hospital bed staring into the space in despair, waiting for death to knock on the door. All she needs when she was drinking was a message of hope, a message that would give her life – the God kind of life. But you ignored her and called her unprincipled names.
You claim to have the light, you claim you have the calling, you neither use earrings nor lip sticks so as to show the world that you are not worldly. You boast in the scriptures because you know only the letters, but yet you did not understand the revelations in the letters. You see many Biblical Prophets and Apostles as your role models, but yet you did not practice what they stood for.
Many are dead today, not because they deserve to die, but because you and I contributed in one way or the other. We love the word of God and many of us never go late to church services, but the main ingredients are missing, the main creation of God, creation of His own image are ignored on daily basis. We tag them "useless", "cheap", "witches", "good-for-nothing" etc. These set of people are the ones we are sent to touch their lives, these are the people that deserve our attention most, not our over-fed Pastors, not the wig-carrying chief Imams, not the already-satisfied deacons and not the ready-made Pastors' wives. We are sent to the LOST and the DEPRESSED, but instead of locating them, we are compounding their woes. Who knows? You and I might have contributed to someone's death.
When you have a chance to touch lives, please don't delay it, you might just be saving souls heading to perdition. Religious people, good morning.
