The American Series, LUCIFER, is probably one of the most watched series in recent times. A lot of people have gone on to either download or buy the CD (most probably) out of the inquisitive hunger to know what it would be about. The name of the series itself, LUCIFER, begs one’s rapt attention.

It is a story of an angel who has left hell — his abode and place of rulership — on a vacation to earth. He and his side-kick, Meis, have chosen to stay away from hell. In the series, he constantly blames God for all his misfortunes: being a fallen angel; living in hell; becoming a punisher and being a bad father to him. He then begins to work as a partner to a female police detective, Chloe Dekker to solve crimes and “catch bad guys”. This is somewhat ironical as he himself is a bad guy, and by nature, is a punisher (according to the series). Together, they solve numerous crimes and form one of the most formidable partnerships in the police department.

Hmm, the irony is why title a series ” the name of a bad guy” and make him “a good guy”? Perhaps, it is the director’s and producer’s wish to paint to the audience that LUCIFER, also called Satan by many Christians, can and has changed for the better. But in doing so, they will need to paint the other end of the binary –God— as being a wicked and inconsiderate father to his son, LUCIFER.

Still another irony surfaces. Because in trying to achieve what we may call their ” aim,” they – the producers and directors are subtly evangelising and painting a near-perfect image of who God is.

First, they paint him as a merciful father. In episode 8 of season 1, a certain reverend father tells his story of how he “found the light.” Apparently, he had been living a wayward and reckless life. Having lost his wife and daughter, he discovers God who with arms wide open, accepts him back.

Second is in the painting of LUCIFER as a punisher. The idea from the series is that God allows man to make his choices, be them good or bad ( really scriptural), and then when they make bad choices, he leaves them to the devil. That LUCIFER, the devil, is the only punisher and not God, is reason for celebration as it makes people want to meet a better and understanding father and not a punishing one.

Third, the series has also portrayed hell as being a ” very bad place” that no one wants to be. That is why , as LUCIFER, confirms, he ran away from hell. Because it isn’t a place to be. Also, in episode 7 of the same season, a particular policeman had died for just about 30 seconds before being restored back to life by an angel. When he returns, and is required by the angel to do him a favour on the condition that failure to do it will take him back to hell, he gets scared and becomes agitated. Apparently, hell is not such a good place to be after all.

A lot can be said in respect to the binary imposition of good as opposed to evil. That a good angel is “cool, calm and calculated” as opposed to LUCIFER’s reckless and exuberant lifestyle is another thing to note. Still, just as in the Holy Bible of the Christians, LUCIFER in this series, has a good voice and can play the piano.

Most muslims world over are currently observing the yearly ramadan fasting, a pre-islamic, pagan fasting ritual that was incorporated into islam as one of the 5 'pillars' of islam by the prophet of islam, mohammed ibn abdullah.

The islamic fasting is a rather uniques one because it not actually the real abstenance from food and water but refusing to eat between sunrise to sunset, more like skipping lunch. The eating of breakfast and dinner is however allowed and essential.

Yorghurt pot goes from 12.9 per person as against 5.4 per person (also monthly). The consumption of egg goes to 26 per person as against the monthly average of 12.8 eggs. Oil comsumption goes from 1.14 to 1.2 litres person, also on a monthly basis (the source of this data is natioal consumer institue of tunisia).

Also note that spending and waste also increase during ramadan. 5000 tones of food are wasted in every 1st week of ramadan in saudi arabia in addition to the collection of 28000 sheep carcasses in the first two days of ramadan. 45 waste compression machines are also deployed to and 8000 cleaners are employed to clean up the grand month in mecca during ramadan. The list of waste go on and on.

So why do muslims eat more, sleep more, waste more and work less during ramadan? The answer lies in the very heart of islam. Islam does not teach people to control their desires but encourages their people to carr their desire to perverse extreme.

Take for instance a non-muslim who usually go clubbing hence meeting different women, this act is bad and equally condemned by islam. Yeah, almost all the times, I'm sorry soothes the situation and opens way for the problem to be solved. However, in my dealings with people, I have come to understand that I'm sorry alone is not enough, a times it appears mechanical. A better way would be I am sorry for doing/saying/assuming so so an so things. That way the person you are apologizing to feels that you deeply acknowledge the situation and you are not just saying 'I am sorry' for peace to reign.

Yea, I know. When it's done mechanically, the recipient knows that it's not really meant for pasification. It dosn't really hide when you are indeed remorseful, your demeanor expresses it.
When I said, I say "am sorry" easily, It doesn't mean I just throw it at the person thinking "afterall that's what he wants to hear", am saying that because am sorry that I hurt his or her feelings indeed, and my attitude or actions are not nice.

I don't quite agree... and what motivates the flesh? isn't it the presence demonic manipulation? When u are tempted and eventually give in to the flesh, this is when they win and one falls into sin. You should also know that you must not even yield to the flesh before you are come after. That you are also going close to God or trying to be makes u bait for unknown forces. Also there in 2Corinthians 10; 3-4 (For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty to the pulling down of strong holds) my dear this verse says it all.

The most important weapon of the devil is to downplay activities of his n his mininons making us think they're not present or trying to bring up a false illogical explanation abt why things are or should be. The moment one realizes the essence of putting on the whole armour of Christ and to not attribute levity to issues, then you are one step ahead.

What am I trying to say to conquer the flesh is to be able to conquer demonic temptations, attacks and eventual oppression, remember 1peter 5: 8 - Be sober, be vigilant for your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour....

Whether you are a devout/pretty laid back or just there in the faith no one is free from this that's why we need to keep standing strong in faith and by the authority in the name of Jesus, who has given us the power to trample upon serpents and scorpions and every power of the enemy, and whose name at the mention of which every knee bows, in the heaven, earth, under the earth and that every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the father....
