Politics / Re: How Europe Underdeveloped Africa by AncientAlien(m): 4:08pm On Jan 25 |
I read the preface and the first chapter of the book explaining what Development is in its complexity regarding history of mankind from the stone age to the later 19th century when the book was published. The conclusion I could draw from this book is this: Walter Rodney was an adherent follower of socialism and this, he fought tooth and nail to seek support for socialism across Africa. The whole book is a joke. I was induced to wanted to read and know how europe underdeveloped us through the catching title but instead of the author to make logical views, he was overwhelmed with his love of socialism, and using all of his academic power to construct a delusional foe where there is none. Almost 50 years after the publication of the book and additional decades after Africa emancipation from colonialism, Africa is still stagnant, even if not on a reverse mode. Walter Rodney failed to mention the African lands that where never colonized. What is the rate of their development if we are to compare and contrast them with examples from Europe. Imagine Walter making a point that "capitalism has created a wastage of resources channeled for advertisement while poverty ravaged the lower class." I laughed when I read that lines, what did he expect from a manufacturer bringing new items into the market amidst high competition. I wouldn't say that submission of his was daft but will leave it to everyone to term it to whatever that their discernment refer it to be. The book could have been better represented under any kind of title that idolize socialism. Not disguising under ideas that have no qualified basics to influence the the minds of the new generation of Africans towards a tide of no port. In my own conclusion, this generation should just know that slavery is not the fault of the Europeans, slavery had been practiced from antiquity. Our ancestors indulge in it even before the whites explore Africa. If anything is to be remind of slavery, we should be celebrating every individual parties and governments across the world that eradicated and put final stop on slavery( especially trans Atlantic slave trade). The likes of Abraham Lincoln, Olaudah Equano among the rest. European colonialism is not our problem, but our culture and way of life. |

Some states acting like local government. No mind me, their IGR and allocation might not be enough to make this colorful. Moreover, I appreciate two states as their combative army stood astride with their heads inside their helmets down facing the ground, while they held to their guns like wounded soldiers. Imo and Ogun. |
