It's always funny when you watch people complain about a monster they created. We need to bring back the classics in Nigeria and have the younger generation conversant with tales like Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. |
These grown men in this state are just too childish. If Rivers was ever to be a republic on it's own it would be no better than DR Congo. |
As usual another insincere OP and media outfit. He will not put it clearly that the record low is measured from January 2025.....wow, a 3 month low is what we should kill ourselves for! Everyone is clearly learning from Trump nowadays. |
advanceDNA:Well it is a bit possible..... Imagine you've been dating someone for long while you had nothing. Then you meet another female who likes you, is connected, acts as a friend and helps you get a work or start your business. She does things that helps you grow at work or in your business. Unlikely for men, but still possible. Now change the subject of the story from a man to a woman. You will see this is not strange at all and happens to women all the time. Usually they (women) will marry their helper. |
So a thief like Malami that has never won an election and a Chukwuma that I have never heard of are now the KEY heavyweights....man some people are really clutching at straws |
Lagos figure must be a joke!! Either that, or the people in the LGs are stealing 90% of all their levies. |
...see this guyman ooooo.....so now since they know their league isn't so great their plan is to entrap him by getting a beautiful turkish babe with wide belly dancing hips to confuse him so he will stay ....abeg Victor show dem say you be true Edo man and you are immune ooo, na only Yoruba boy wey fit fall for this trick lol |
Penguin2:Any human being will struggle to change prejudices and biases people have built into them since they were born, that was why I used the Obama example with you earlier. I mean do you really think the vast majority of white people that voted for Obama still don't have biases and prejudices against black people. Are a lot of those same white people still not the same people that voted for Trump? The trick when facing bias is to recognise it straight away (which the landlord allowed Osibanjo to do by saying it out in the open), not take it personal, and do your best to reflect who you are and not who people (who don't know you) say you are. I have seen your posts before and I assumed you lived abroad (the US in particular), I had thought you would have known this from personal experience. |
seanfer:The guy is just a fool, of all the stories he could use this Friday to attack Yoruba... it is this one which only shows again how accommodating we are. My grandmother (of blessed memory) could not speak English and was a typical core Yoruba landlord who always preferred to rent her flats to people she felt had good manners. She was from Ife, so she mostly preferred people from her place in particular. When I stayed with her for a while, I saw the easiest way to confuse her was to pretend to have manners, bring your personal problems to her to solve and so on. So many of her Yoruba tennants did this before still eventually falling out with her as she was a shrewd woman. One day she wanted to do a general renovation of her property ...all the tenants as usual started to bring in their contractors with silly quotes since they knew Mama cannot go to the market to verify anything. I was getting angry until she told me she already had a plan. She told me she would call one of the best tennants she ever had ( who happened to sell building materials) that would never cheat her. So one fateful day I came back from work, saw a strange car in front of the compound and I guessed she had a visitor. When I got to the parlour I saw her laughing with someone who was clearly struggling to speak Yoruba but understood what she was saying. In short, it was a typical Igbo businessman who in a million years I would have never expected to be the tennant she had praised so much as being honest and industrious. He was clearly a big man and one could see this job was too small for a big man like him to come all the way down. The quote he gave was almost half what the others had proposed and far more extensive than all I had seen. My grandmother did not even look at it....it was like her main aim of calling him over was to gist and reminisce. His boys started the work the next day and this was one of the few times my grandmother did not have any complaint or anxiety. The renovation stands till today. Everyone has biases and prejudices, but in my experience most Yorubas don't allow that to stop them from knowing people should be ultimately judged individually for their unique personalities. Which is still what Osibanjo and his landlord actually did. I stay in Surulere now and I can tell you that a lot of Surulere landlords that happen to be Igbo still prefer not to rent their flats to fellow Igbos. Prejudice is part of life, its if you allow them to rule and control your life, that's what ultimately matters. |
TechBaron:I don't agree with you. Banking is one of the oldest professions in the world and employees have found various ways of stealing and mismanaging funds from time in memorial. Anyway 35 billon NAIRA is still small compared to Nick Leeson (who I believe still holds the record) of $1.3bn, and that was Barings Bank, one of the oldest and most respected financial institutions in the world, before he irretrievably bankrupted it. |
ElevationD:Don't mind them. Someone worked in the settlement department of the biggest bank in the country and they are still disputing the story. Anyway, definitely other people would have been involved and compromised but it only takes one mastermind to take advantage of weak controls, which by now everyone should know Firstbank has had for quite a while. |
Balistic4:I think one of his daughters is dating a black guy, but I am not sure if he's Nigerian sha. |
RuggedBiafran:We don't do that in my ethnic group. Its only you people that always find one reason to disown someone (Osu, River Niger, Ebonyi, Edoid and blah blah blah). However once they have proved their worth you start claiming them for the flimsiest of reasons. Kindly go and rehabilitate your brother Oluchukwu and please tell him when he wants to beat women and commit crimes, he should be bold enough to speak his language like his forefathers use to do before Lugard. |
madridguy:God bless you, you have even found the guy sef. I guess people in Ondo are now also bearing Oluchukwu ![]() Even half of the so called Agberos in Mushin and Oshodi are actually Igbo. A significant number also in Lagos Island to my surprise. |
RuggedBiafran:Oga you are deceiving yourself. Next thing you will start telling us Okoro is a Yoruba name. Somebody named FRIDAY and then ONU can never be Yoruba. Also if the your imaginary Kayode actually exists, did you ask him when you were in nursery school if his father was Igbo? Or are Bamidele Azikwe and Rotimi Amechi now Yoruba? |
This is why I think envy is an overrated and silly emotion. Look at this one, with her privileged background, all the money and the good schools she went to, and what she has now achieved at a young age, even with all that, her insecurities still shines through her and now she is not even bright enough to know "nee" is for her maiden name. Also if you are asking me why I say her insecurities are so obvious, look at how she dresses, wanting everyone to notice her which fits with her need to identify with Tuface, a superstar, that was born into the humblest of families and made it in this world by his talent and hardwork alone (and of course God's blessings). In 20 years time, we will still remember Tuface (hopefully still for the right reasons) and he would likely have moved on from this lady. Even the recent revelations from Aunty Kemi (who would have been envied when she was young) shows that "the rich also cry", you just don't see those tears. Envy is pointless and misleads, as it generally confuses you to see irrelevant things as important. |
obembet:Something una do to compete against yourselves, you will be claiming you are doing it for men! I am yet to meet a man that will tell me that he finds his partner attractive because of the outlandish nails she does....keep deceiving yourselves. |
This man is just an inconsistent clown and will achieve very little treating the world like some sort of poker game. As for China, they will continue calling his bluff. The way he is looking for respect up and down you would think his father was named Adigun ![]() |
Yoruba children (I am purposely using this word) need to calm down. Being Yoruba has always been more than where one of your parents come from....or are these kids going to claim they are more Yoruba than Sango or Priestess Wenger? Historically we've never acted insecure and should not start acting like any other insecure ethnic group. |
abbey621:You must be thinking you are dealing with your fellow dunce, you are a true reprobate. |
MadamExcellency:See her smiling sef, women, when they want to cause havoc they don't care if they burn the whole house down! Mark my words, she will eventually apologise. |
abbey621:See this fake yankee trying to outsmart people that can actually read and write.....na you state your argument was on VOLUME & QUANTITY, please bring your data of how they were counting bananas and grapes for your ridiculous " For every 4 items China send to to USA, USA sends 1" argument. |
ElevationD:One of the few sensible comments so far. The problem is some people will almost choke on their saliva when the SC gives their FINAL judgement, just like the way they did when the called out a governor, who was to every independent mind, unconstitutionally behaving like a Tyrant. |
abbey621:No wonder, that explains your dullness and insincerity. To think people are always assuming we are losing our best minds |
Kelklein:Na wa oooooo..... Why did Elon Musk borrow to buy Twitter? Why did Dangote borrow to build his refinery? Why did Stan Kronke borrow to buy Arsenal? If the money the FG borrowed was to create wealth (which is what proper budgets are meant to do), then it is in line with what rich people have been doing since the invention of loans. |
abbey621:Unfortunately, it is clear you are a simple dishonest quack who discusses things he has no understanding of. There is clearly no need to engage you further as you will keep on repeating and conflating the same old drivel. For the sake of Nigeria, I hope you never have any students or anyone learning from you as you clearly have no reliable knowledge to impart. |
abbey621:Why are you elongating this thing, have you no shame? I know you are aware that when economists and financial experts talk about Trade Balance it mostly the VALUE anyone cares about and not the QUANTITY. Even in your second post to me to justify your fabricated first post, what you referenced was VALUE....and now just to win an internet argument you are willing to bend Maths, English and Logic ??! Oya ooo, I humbly ask that you share with us independent data that shows that for every 4 items China exports to the USA, USA exports one item....because even AI can not be bothered to bring up the stats of such an irrelevant criterion. |
abbey621:Oga shut it. You are talking from all sides of your mouth at once. 75% and 25% is not a ratio and is not 4 times of anything. Your Maths is poor, your English is poor and your logic is non existent. Also your figures were fabricated from your first post, so why should I go back to fabricated rubbish when you can't accept you erred like a normal human being would have. See him lying and talking like a true economic illiterate " for every 4 items China exports to USA, USA exports 1 to China" .....so VALUE of exports has now turned to QUANTITY ?! So if China exports 4 phones to USA its now comparable to USA exporting a single car shey? Stay in one lane as the amount of nonsense you are freely and boldy saying is mindboggling. But I guess its the bias that is worrying you that will not allow you to see straight, so any meaningful discussion with you is impossible. If you like you can keep posting rubbish for those who are unintelligent enough to research for themselves. At least your idol Trump has made a living with this kind of nonsense but doesn't pretend unlike you. |
MadamExcellency:Aunty, Samsung has never manufactured most of the iPhone and at best has supplied things like the screen and a few other parts. A simple google search will tell you Foxconn has done this for a while. Again that does not change the fact that both Foxcon , Samsung and practically every other serious electronic manufacturing company have their biggest factories and supply ecosystems in CHINA. I cannot be arguing with all of you ONE DAY economist and financial experts. Go and read this and plenty of other material online to understand how the business world in terms of manufacturing has since evolved and how forcing it to evolve again within such a short period of time is economic sabotage. https://edition.cnn.com/2025/04/09/tech/apple-iphones-cost-tariffs-impact-intl-hnk/index.html
|
abbey621:If I had known English (and Maths it seems) was your problem, I probably would have not bothered to waste my time replying to your obvious nonsense. You do not "import to a country" but you "import from a country". Your screenshot indicates what USA imported from China compared to what it exported (trade balance reported by US), how does that co-relate with your original claim that China was losing 75% of its export market by fighting USA, while USA was only losing 25% by fighting China (also incorrect). Just take your time and listen to analysts and professionals before you start making up stats to justify your stupid biases. Or are you now more financially educated than Elon Musk who hates these tariffs and what it is doing to his business? https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cdrgx4ky1xxo

dozymars:I think you might be a bit confused. Apple and the iPhone will be significantly affected as most of the parts in the iPhone (like most other phones) also come from China. This is one of the main reasons their stock price has taken a big hit. There is no doubt that iPhones will be more expensive to make, however, Apple could choose to take most of the impact and still sell their phones at an affordable price as their profit margin on a typical iPhone is already ridiculous compared to other phone manufacturers. The guy you quoted was mostly right. |
