A lot of fooooolish replies at the top. Please is there someone with sense who can address the OP's question of the cost of living in the two places he mentioned? |
UselessBuhari:This is why this country cannot move forward, dishonesty and pointless bigotry is in the heart of every Nigerian....even the so called oppressed. The OP and all the people that responded are educated and know that no police commander makes arrests on his own. Even when he collected all his awards and never knew his waterloo was around the corner, he always made reference to his team and men and used "We". https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/more-news/397226-reps-honour-abba-kyari-for-exemplary-performance.html Yes, its clear as day he was the main beneficiary of the bribe and gestures of Hushpuppi but calling him a psycho and blatantly lying that he never used "we" before is just pathetic. All of us from day one have always known our uniformed men share their bribes and operate like a mafia. Saying the plain truth does not mean Abba Kyari will escape justice, just say the truth and move on. Silly lies on a Sunday. |
S10+ makes more sense than Poco X3 pro especially if the former is brand new and snapdragon variant. |
skywalker240:Not true. |
Aunty, you have no excuse to advertise such a poor paying job for teachers especially since the location is Lagos. Please repent of this kind of behaviour; this is sincere advice. |
Forget the first 3 since they are used and I think you are a lady. Go for Redmi 9a. |
Honesty36:Please what is anyone suppose to learn besides the fact that you don't understand English? You say the SA girl is 20, Chidinma that is 21, is that not a similar age? Babies everywhere. |
SenatePresdo:Well to avoid arguing, since you concede that "on Earth" is actually the correct answer in English language I will just move to your airplane point. "Airplanes fly in the sky" , or better yet "birds fly in the sky" has always been a term people use in English- humans have always been able to differentiate between earth and the Earth, which is something that is actually quantifiable, compared to the sky, which has always appeared to us as boundless, both in history and religion....and even in science the sky actually consists of everything outside the planet Earth, which includes the atmosphere and out of space. Nothing is "on" the sky, everything is within, including the the Sun the moon, the stars (some will even say Heaven). Anyway, "in the sky" is correct in English because thats the way it has always been and not because of any scientific argument. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sky Now to stop you being clever by half, your original question was "If I may ask you mine, are flying Air planes on Earth, in Earth or outside Earth? where would you say they are? They are around Venus? To answer the question again based on your context, "Airplanes fly on earth" or in your peculiar choice of English, "flying airplanes (are airplanes not suppose to fly before) are on earth"....seeing as you pointed out we have no recorded sightings of airplanes on any of the other planets. So to conclude, the preferred preposition when refering to the planet Earth, or any other planet for that matter is "on"..... and I did not create the English language, that is just the rule, just like Igbo and Hausa have their own rules, end of. A similar example below and you can see how fast everyone corrects him. https://ell.stackexchange.com/questions/231473/which-preposition-to-use-at-earth-or-on-earth https://forum.thefreedictionary.com/postst156719_On-earth-or-on-the-earth.aspx |
GraceofGod2:I think they do. The funny thing is that both are of a similar age too. |
Following. |
SenatePresdo:Bro, you sound intelligent, so lets answer truthfully the question, not going sideways and move on. The original poster asked a question based on an English arguement he was having with his friend... and both you and me know that based on the chosen language here, only one answer is correct in this instance...unless you would have not unconciously repeated it yourself. We all get that scientifically we all appear to be inside this planet from space...but that is not the argument....and if he was to go to where real English speakers are and repeat this inside Earth jargon they would not look at him as some scientific genius but someone who can't speak English properly. Thanks for your Igbo song, which again proves what I said about the peculiarity of language. Every native Igbo speaker would understand what that means...just like every native English speaker understands what living on earth means....and living inside Earth means something entirely different to them. It's just like the way in Nigerian English we all universally understand when someone says "they have taken the light again"... this is incoherent and means something entirely different to any American or British person...but it is not illogical as our NEPA officials have probably shut off (taken) your electricity and given it to someone else (load sharing)... that is language for you ,just a tool for communication. But as seen in the example above, language always fails when the other person cannot understand what you mean. So we, live on Earth..... however I am typing this post while living in/inside Nigeria though I also hope to live in Heaven some day (you all can start another arguement again lol) ![]() Oooo and for your aircraft example, they fly on Earth...to the best of my knowledge. |
SenatePresdo:Funnily, just noticed you used the phrase "on Earth" yourself even without touching land ![]() You see bro, it so natural to any English speaker...only people not familiar with English would use the term "live inside Earth". |
SenatePresdo:Poor argument and the person you quoted was 100% on point. English is not a natural science where you use scientific logic to win arguments....it is a language and culture just like Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa are. What wins an argument about language most of the time is usually precedent and culture, and 90% of English arguments are settled that way. The understanding of the term "earth" as soil came hundreds of years before scientist could prove to us that other planets existed. So the English were already saying "living on the Earth" way before they knew planets existed. So this argument is first of all won by precedent and culture way before you start thinking logically...and even then the fact and logic that 99.99% of human beings actually live on land makes it illogical to say "I live inside Earth" unless you are having a chat with an Alien or a fish. Also, to show you that precedent trumps it all... the English tend to say "life on Mars" instead of "life inside Mars". Finally, can I ask, does your native language even recognise other planets? Or how would you translate I live inside Mars in your native language? I am not insulting anyone here ooo, its just to make us think deep of how language came to be and what it actually represents. |
Cerebellum:Next time be braver and don't let people with envy push you. 5.11 is far above the average height in Nigeria ( 5.6) and in the world. The funny thing is most of the people who yabbed you with so much glee are almost certainly shorter than you in real life lol ...... link of average heights in the world https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Average_human_height_by_country |
showietee:The poster you quoted is well known on inverter threads in here and has very positive feedback. A lot of those goods are sourced from china. I would comfortably do business with him. |
Joysticks:You don't have to dismiss the other poster in such a way. Ilupjeu is in the middle of mainland and there are many ways you can get there. It does seem that the oshodi route might be the cheapest though. Once you get to underbridge the street you are going to is inbetween PZ and Spar, the okada riders know those landmarks. |
I am happy she has finally won her case....people should learn from this and never give up. https://www.nairaland.com/2811071/air-force-officer-raped-me |
Mods remove...fake news. |
The contradictions in the US is getting too much. In this story here, we have a white male (who is later found to be a drug dealer), dressed causually, driving a darkly tinted suspicious suv, with an assault rifle in his car which the policeman spots...however the policeman still treats him with respect throughout until he is shot dead (probably for handling the matter with too much leniency once he felt he was dealing with a fellow "white skin" ) https://www.nairaland.com/6503228/u.s-cop-fired-pepper-spraying In the story above, we have a black male, clearly dressed as an army officer, identifying himself as an officer and wearing glasses, driving a suspicious car but clearly tagging it.....however the policemen treat him as a criminal straight away without asking any questions despite the fact he cooperated with them at every single point.....the pepper spraying is so sickening !!! Honestly USA is beginning to seem like a shithole country..... especially if you happen to be black. |
COdeGenesis:Go to your bank, tell them you are a student and you want to fill a form A . The form A is how you buy dollar from CBN at official rates. |
ewawumi:This has now been cleared up....happy selling! |
aboyaji:Bros, before you kill market entirely for the lady, you are both right. Firstly Nonny400 post is confusing, he asks for the generation of the Laptop while telling her how to check for the generation of the CPU which she obliges. BTW, generation of the CPU is what almost everyone uses in nairaland. Her answer is correct and accurate, its a 6th gen core 5. Also you pointing out that the laptop is a model 1, is also correct, as the first Thinkpad convertible X1 Yoga was made in 2016.... which by her CPU, is almost certainly the model of her laptop. Now the model 6 of this laptop only came out this year and only a month or 2 ago, with an 11th gen CPU, so there is no realistic way she would be selling a model 6 unless she was crazy (retails like $2k methinks). So in short, you are all right but madam is more correct than all of you (seeing as she followed your instructions) and did not try any mago mago. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ThinkPad_Yoga#X1_Yoga_gen4 |
When she is tired of abusing Pete Edochie for saying his truth, please let her answer how old Mary the mother of Jesus was when she was married off to Joseph. History will help us all. |
KingAzubuike:Even if you wanted to use any argument against him, this point per game argument is extremely laughable. I mean someone improved from 2.1 to 2.7 in 2 seasons and you said that is not impressive? You obviously seem not to be aware that the highest points per game anyone can get in football is 3, unless how will a normal fan say 2.7 is not impressive...or you expected he win all his games?? Finally look at the best in the EPL ever, a whole mighty Ferguson is 2.16......let us always pause and think before some arguments are made. https://www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/the-seven-managers-with-the-best-points-per-game-record-in-pl-history-ferguson-klopp-guardiola/ |
OCTAVO:Nice review again bro. Even I was a bit disheartened by the bolded. I agree with you 100%, the whole aim of these kind of threads is firsthand experiences shared to enrich everyone. |
OCTAVO:Nice review Octavo. How did you determine the idle draw? Did you use a coulometer or any other device to measure the idle draw? Does it have any other functions that standout? How clean is the wave, any humming from any of your home devices? And you forgot to mention anything about its charging behaviour. Like the max amps it outputs to charge the batteries and float behaviour etc. |
It seems this has been going on for a while. https://www.google.com/amp/s/ranthq.org/blog/2019/12/19/married-woman-calls-out-her-husbands-presumed-mistress-who-allegedly-threatened-to-kill-her-video/amp/ |
mosdii:Yes indeed.... especially the ones that speak Portuguese!! Laziness |
Registered banks cannot do this. Only hungry moneylenders can do this as it is illegal. |
Nuyokoi:Lol, truth be told, you have never lived abroad, lol. |
Surprised no one has picked up on the part where he says OBJ is from the SE....our politicians are really dangerous/shameless people. |
