SoNature: Nigeria's massive population has been more curse than a blessing. Sure, I know that Fareed is laying emphasis on Nigeria because of her population.
However, I don't see this pandemic going out of control because Nigerian government is already taking steps that her overseas counterparts are taking, such as lockdowns and fumigation of public places. Lastly, I think the weather is to our advantage because viruses, no matter the source, do not survive in hot conditions. One of the reasons why it has hit the US badly is that the virus attacks better in cold conditions. Yes, the winter has refused to go away in the United States.
People should stop playing this weather card. Is Spain, Italy and Florida cold ? Why is the vrus doing so well there.
While countries that are really cold like Russia, Canada and most of the scandanavian and Eastern European countries are not even having much problem with the virus.
As far as WHO is concerned they have said it that no evidence shows that the virus will not do well in warm countries.
Ibo has two world bank directors, our son is a Chief Judge of ICC, many elected officials around the world, including US, UK, Canada. The only African ethnic group that can be found anywhere in the world. Our sons are Lieutenants and Colonels in US Army. We created a special reconnaisance group called M-Branch, thr only African indigeneous security intelligence gathering force. Our M-Branch collaborate with CIA and Mossad.
Yoruba cannot stand us. They are jealous.
Lol, some people will never learn
i had to quote this post
samstradam: When we try and be our brother's keeper and tell them of their weaknesses, they laugh at us and call it jealousy.
Nigerians have been collecting top post in Liberia since time in memorial with no issues.... But when its their turn see what happens.
Now just to buttress this, see a similar thread on this forum years back, for two "Nigerians" (one Northerner and one Yorubaman) who both were honoured by being the head of the ARMED FORCES in that same "hostile" "ungrateful" Liberia .... pls note the reaction of the respective kinsmen on the thread.
Now compare and contrast to the wonderful respone from our "special" brothers here who did not even allow the ink to dry on their brother's nomination form before they inadvertently settled his case for him

Thanks a lot bro... though it is from abroad.
I was hoping I could get it already in Nigeria still, though that hope is now fading.
While in my self imposed isolation I still do procurement for members of my inner circle; sure, some of them still got their money's worth this year.
I think I allowed action of some bad pple kill my vibes and hustle...
Since reading that person's comment on that thread, I felt I let bad people win cos even after not posting anywhere on this thread in 2years some people still have nothing but positive reviews about me and that makes me wonder why I have up when I didn't loose my personality. Yes I lost the will to continue but I'm still the same person. I wouldn't reap where I didn't sow.
It's been good all the while.
I hope after the President allow us out again I can come out from this ockdown when everyone does. Hopefully!
Thanks to @ravensckar for the mention. How's Evathyst?
Welcome back and a beautiful post.
I also tried my best to tell the olodo Damzy that quick gain will not take him anywhere- but building trust and in particular a "brand" like you and so many others have on this forum , is the only true and satisfying way to make it in online business. Welcome back again.
damzyofficial23: I won’t trade words with you because you made a mistake calling me boy it’s fine I won’t say more on this issue I did my part like I circled out and as per waybill I will how about the faulty memory card will he replace it too ?
If there is anything every Nigerian should learn from what the whole world is facing now, is that there is more to this life than quick gain.
That 1k nor the full 8k itself would not make your life anymore spectacular..... I have been selling online for almost 20 years now and honestly you will only make it and be happy making it if people trust you. Once that is gone every other thing is pointless.
Choose a hustle, be a dignified entrepreneur or go and join our sly politicians. And I used the word "sly" because you promised the OP that you would not "sly" him, whatever that means.
zotorux: So I bumped into this @Damzyofficial23 thread, he needed a PSP console, I have this PSP vita I don’t even use cuz I need to hack it so I just dropped it at home. So I told the guy I have, he requested for my number and we got talking on Whatsapp. We negotiated the price he was like 8k I just said yes cuz that 8k is small but def something in this period besides I’m accumulating money to buy another phone. But issue is he’s in Lagos and I’m in Ilorin and there’s lockdown in Ilorin but there are movement low key. So I went out that Sunday evening to check if I can get a bus going to Lag, luckily I got one and I told him wassup. We agreed on him paying on delivery, like he’ll transfer my money before he collects his console (I played a game of trust, biggest mistake I ever made) not my fault tho, the guy sounded like a very reasonable and sincere person on chat. So the park people said 2k, I didn’t meet the main driver it’s those secretaries and all. So I shaa paid the 2k (Lol stupid yeah? It’s my free mind that’s killing me) so we agreed again to split the waybill, but the car park people insisted I put a balance of 500naira on the envelope, they said that way he’ll appreciate what I did for him. Little did I know that they wanna run the driver street too. The car left very early on Monday, they got to Lag before noon, driver called me that the guy is there and he needs to collect 5h before he gives the guy the console, that they didn’t give him anything. The guy was calling me on video call (why tf he was doing that I dunno) Baba pay the man 5h he was saying stories that he didn’t come out with cash, my on transfer nko he was like he dropped money at home, he wanna use paga people to do the transfer. At that point I knew I bleeped up already. He’s tryna play smart and all. Cuz I even explained to him the driver would collect extra cash like 200naira when he arrives. So I don’t get the part he’s saying he doesn’t have any cash with him and if he’s to use paga why didn’t he come out with my money in the first place?? I texted him on whatsapp to know wassup, he said he’s going back home to pick cash and then collect the PSP, that under an hour I’ll see my money. Waited like 2hours called him, he didn’t pick next thing he called on Video call saying he was at the engineer guy that’ll hack it (Niggah you moving mad? You refused to pay me, you going to hack game?) I just locked up and said okay. He’s been ignoring my whatsapp texts. I told him I can’t drag him to pay obviously, just woke up this morning and one spirit just told me to call him out on NL here and warn other people to be careful. Trusting people these days is suicidal, please if you’re the type like me that trusts easily I urge you to please reduce it. People in this world don’t deserve it, they take your trust as being stupid. As for you damzyofficial23 I hope you build house and raise a family with that PSP Stay safe people.
Mr man, you must never take down this thread no matter what.
People should learn to take responsibility for all their actions.
Imagine, 2 grown men feeling proud that a whole forum had to beg them before they could send ordinary 8k.... and the shameless boy still only sent 7k..... Kai!!
lexander: Since he has paid I hope all those calling him names should know the right thing to do (apologize) and to the seller since he has paid you although he delayed the payment due to circumstances beyond his control take down the thread and lets put this matter to rest
Oga, people have told you gently, keep quiet and mind your business.
What kind of children do we have on this forum nowadays.... later they will open mouth and call Buhari!!
Sadteen: I disagree. There's a general Nigerian accent. This is the accent that is spoken without little to no mother tongue interference. This accent is also common in federal and private universities. For instance if you go to covenant university and pick two Nigerians of different ethnicities, you likely would not be able to tell they were of different ethnicities from their accent because they both speak little to no mother tongue interferences.
So yes theres a general Nigerian accent and their also regional accents. An Igbo man who grew up in his village would likely sound different from an Igbo man that grew up in the city. Wole Soyinka and Chinua Achebe are Nigerians of different ethnicities but they both speak a Nigerian accent
Though your post makes sense, I feel you are mixing up a few things.
Firstly, IMO the late Chinua Achebe spoke with an accent where you could tell he was educated in the East. Though he and Soyinka both went to UI, he kept a slight Eastern twang that is audiblie. And even if you insist both sound alike, that generations accent is not similar to your typical Convenant generation you talked about earlier.
Now I do agree with you that it would be hard to tell the ethnicity of a typical Convenant student nowadays and that they sound similar. But I, nor the English Language, actually ever linked an accent to exclusively your ethnicity - I used the word groups when diccussing accents; as I am aware the main determiners of your accent are the people you learnt it from and that you practice it with.
So if we agree that a group of young people who go to Convenant and UNILAG and co have the same accent, which has little mother tounge influence, would we now call that the "Nigerian" accent? Does that mean we did not have a Nigerian accent in the 30's or 40's? Or what about the majority of the other millions who speak English and did not go to these privileged schools, are their accent snow in the minority?
So I do agree with you that their is a Nigerian young educated people accent with less mother tongue influence, however I do not think it has risen to such prominence that it should be called the "Nigerian Accent" and not just another nigerian accent like the many others accents of English we speak within this diverse country.
NACE13: I wonder how AY would feel if he is a Nairalander; see how folks shifted the main topic of discussion to "Accents of Nigerians in diaspora";-D ............ But I just love the British accent; I consider the scouse accent the sexiest, just like that Ammunition expert in John Wick: Chapter II, Alfred The Butler in Batman, Idris Elba, Jason Statham, Chris Hemsworth and many more
I've not watched John Wick, but none of the other people you mentioned have a scouse accent, Chris is even Australian, though he does attempt to do a southern English accent in some movies.
Here are examples of the scouse (Liverpool) accent:
Stevecovey: They were talking about the yoruba accent when they rated Nigerian accent as sexy. The examples given were sunny ade & omotola.
6. Nigerian
Famous tongues: King Sunny Ade, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde
Dignified, with just a hint of willful naivete, the deep, rich "oh's" and "eh's" of Naija bend the English language without breaking it, arousing tremors in places other languages can't reach.
This is exactly my kind of point, a typical person raised in the north will not use "ohs" and "ehs" while talking like the way we do it in the south. If there is a particular accent Oyinbos like from us, we need to identify it and call it its proper name and not the "Nigerian" accent.
Also I wouldn't really classify Omotola as speaking with what people generally refer to as the "Yoruba" accent. Yes there are accents than when people speak English you know they are Yoruba or heavily influenced by Yoruba, but for example I do not think KSA's and OBJ's accents are the same when speaking English, though I would classify both their accents as being Yoruba influenced.
KosiGee: Ay spoke with a clear and an understandable voice. He pronounced his words well. What is wrong with that. Anyone could easily understand what he was saying. I don’t believe that he must try to sound very Nigerian whatever that means to express himself.
Nigeria way of speaking varies...Sanusi Lamido communicates well, Chidoka Osita communicates well, Donald Duke and Peter Odilli all communicate well. Osita Chidoka’s accent is different from Peter Obi’s. Both are from the same state and educated in the same region. Sanusi differs from Ganduje. Tinubu, Fashola, Fayemi all speak differently.
Ay is different from Bovi. Basket mouth is different from Okey Bakassi.
People speak the way that is convenient for them. Being able to hear them and understand them is what matters. Ay was not faking the accent in my opinion. He was clear and understandable.
It always struck me when I was younger and people will say Nigerian accent, as to me we all speak so distinctively.... anyway when we throw our phonetics or speak pidgin, I think thats the closest we get to Nigerians sounding similar or uniform.
Or11: Why do most Nigerians feel they need to change their accent when they speak with a foreigner? Nigerian accent is rated as one of the sexiest in the world. People should learn to embrace it.
I will have to disagree with you on this brother.
First of all, we don't have a Nigerian accent as groups in Nigeria speak English in very distinctive ways... so which one is it that Oyinbo find attractive, Buhari accent, Obasanjo accent or Orji Uzor Kalu accent?
This point I am making is the same for England that has got many different accents, are you telling me people are rating a Scouse accent (Carragher's) the same they would rate Prince William's accent?
Anyway, we don't have a uniform accent, just like the English, so when people are rating our accents they are rating what they hear us speak to them, which is when we drop the local attributes of our accent and try and internationalise it usually by trying to copy the dominant English accent, the US tv acccent.
The British do this too, as no Scouser or Glaswegian will speak with their thick local accents when abroad..... they change their English to the clearer accents. Language is about communication foremost, and though I don't like "funne", it's more than understandable when you are in an international crowd.
adedejis2: Hi, please how can i get to arena from yaba, any idea?
The way advised earlier is long tings.
From Yaba walk to Jibowu and take a bus going to Mushin. Once in Mushin proper you will see buses going to Oshodi. Tell the Oshodi bus driver that you want to reach Arena, either he will drop you at Oshodi last bustop or he will drop you at Arena. From Jibowu to Arena is one straight road and can even be one bus. Its quite easy.
What we should ask ourselves is why can't he keep to his words and just leave?
Well first of all he is a serial liar and more importantly useless theives and crooks like him can never function in civilised society.... theivery and chaos is all they know.
ajl: You guys are simply lazy. I visited Lagos last August and stayed in a hotel around Agungi in Lekki. I normally went to Megachicken by the 2nd toll gate to eat. I usually trekked back and forth. And that was like 5km in total. By the time I returned to my base, I already lost some weight. I loved it, and the breeze was cool too. Only problem was there was no good walkway.
Though I suppot your sentiments on walking- your agungi to megachicken example sounds like pure exaggeration.
