For the educated illiterates who seem to be mainly from one part of the country these two sentences below are the only things David Mark contributed “Let’s forget the business of state of origin and go to state of residence. Once you are resident in a place and you perform your civic responsibilities for the period, there is no reason why you should not benefit, provided, of course, you don’t claim dual residency”The rest of the academically challenged piece was written by a Ochereome Nnanna, I'll leave u to guess which part of the country he comes from. SCORES REMAIN FREE EDUCATION 10 v EMPTY IGBONESS 0 |
Desola: what is it with you people and lies, propaganda et al? Why do you choose selective texts and rewrite it to make it appear as a quote from another? You lot cannot and should not be trusted. Here is the full article and I highlight senator Mark's quote:Surprise surprise, the bigots don't know how to READ or what QUOTATION MARKS do- this is truly pathetic and sorrowful. May God continue to bless the man and his family that gave Nigeria free education- even my 8 year old niece couldn't make this mistake. |
Abagworo: I love Nigeria with all its diversity and want us united as one people forever. What I'm only saying is that self-praise is not same thing as tribalism. It rather encourages competition and not hatred as exhibited by those who stated that they wanted all Igbos dead. I've heard people say Igbos have occupied their land but why can't those same people go and occupy Igbos land and compete with them too? Even recently I read where someone stated that 40% of voters in Kano were Igbos and it angered a section of the country but why can't those people just move to Onitsha, buy up land and become 40% of Onitsha?Again you are digressing but you have asked a question I have contemplated myself many a time. First of all, how familiar are you with the SE, I mean have you lived there for any considerable length of time yourself?? If you have you must have an answer to the question you raised and I would be interested in hearing it. Personally I have never lived in the SE nor visited the region, so what I am going to say next is what I have been told by the people I asked. These people were mainly from the two earlier generations (that ruined this country) and had all lived in the SE for a considerable length of time, most with family ties and some even born their. Again though a majority of my sampled opinion was Yoruba a considerable minority wasn't. In fact the only things that linked all of them was that I met all of them in Lagos and surprisingly they all seemed to say the same thing, which kind of goes "Igbos are too fetish, Igbos are too clannish etc." There main gist was anytime they started doing a business or seemed to be doing well in the SE, their Igbo friends would turn against them and some sort of calamity would befall them. Now I took this with a pinch of salt, seeing as most of us love to blame our failures on others and as I said these people had returned to Lagos after their sour adventures in the SE, so I could expect them to be bitter. But it does seem empirically, at least if one looks at the list of the richest/ most popular Nigerian entrepreneurs, I know of none who created their wealth from the SE and were non-Igbo. I mean its easy for me (and most Nigerians) to come up with a list of Easterners and Northerners that made their fortune in the SW, and also easy for me to come up with Easterners and Westerners that made their fortune in the North, obviously the same can be said for the SS where everyone makes their money from in Nigeria; but how easy is it for any one of us to come up with a list of anyone that was non-Igbo,that includes other fellow Eastern ethnic groups, that made their fortune in Igboland? I would find it easier to talk about other Nigerians making their money in Angola and SA than that of Igboland! Anyway I am not suggesting that this conclusively proves what those people said but I do wonder if some of our SE brothers realise how absurd and hypocritical they sound (to people like me familiar with the stereotype and the evidence that seemingly supports it) when they say "the Igbo would dominate Nigeria if their was a level playing field"-why not try creating one in the SE to test your supremacist theorem first? BTW this is mainly a personal opinion formed on opinions, evidence to rebut it would be much appreciated. |
Abagworo: The Igbos must be considerably reduced in number" (Lagos Policeman quoted in New York Review, 21 December, 1967)Again you are missing the point in your effort to whip up a pity parade. Every single quote their is either during the civil war or after- by this time my reply to you had already pointed out 12 separately significant situations that made you look like the domineering ungratefully hostile tribe that your detractors paint you out to be. We are not asking who made the most hateful or sectional comments/actions, we are asking who started it? Who initially breastfed the Baby turned Behemoth that is now Tribalism in Nigeria and in particular Southern Nigeria? Many people have created self inflicted situations that they could not control in history, Hitler and Osama can testify to that- I'm sure if they both had chances they would do things a bit differently but that doesn't mean they aren't largely to blame. Anyway my only reply to your post as a Yorubaman is that the best you could come up with is an unidentified Lagos Policeman and a Soldier, two government employees, making regrettable wartime statements (at least Black Scorpion has said publicly he did not know this was the Nigeria he was fighting for)- I wonder how that factors in for Yoruba superiority over all ethnic groups. Again all I ask is honesty in this exchange. If your leaders had not forced Northern Nigeria on everyone (against the advice of ours and theirs) how would the civil war have come to fruition??If your tribe had not violently grabbed power, murdered everyone elses leaders and spared yours alone, how would the 2 million supposedly starving children have come about?? Let men be men and take responsibility for their history. Inducing pity parades and regularly re-writing history is leaving all of us in this country lethargic. |

Andro Blaze: I don't get the educated people offended by this writeup, FFK has given exact quotes and dates when he feels the first overtly sectional supremacist sentiments were publicly expressed in southern Nigeria- is it to academically challenging for his bashers to look for a date that precedes his when their regularly scapegoated tribe made theirsBy the way, here are a few popular pre- indepedence Yorubas who have enough written (by them and about them) in the public domain that could be tested for supremacist tendecies pre 1945: Bishop Ajayi Crowther (also the first man, black or white, to take the Igbo language seriously and write a book on Igbo grammar as a cohesive language of study), Samuel Johnson, Herbert Macaulay, Amos Tutuola etc. Hell even add FFK's father RFK- I really just want us to sort this matter out on who pushed tribal supremacist ideologies to the forefront in this country and thus encouraged tribal hatred. |
Abagworo: What those Igbo icons did was self praise and not tribalism as alleged by FFK. I still believe in what they said. Trying to suppress Igbos is one of the bane of our national integration and development. Let us leave our doors open for competition and let the best work for our country. Look at what Soludo did in our banking, Ndukwe did in communication, Akunyili did in NAFDAC and Nnaji just did in power. So what they did was self praise while what Awolowo did was genocide eh? Anway you are choosing to miss the point and as usual steer us away from the topic. Over and over again on this forum one particular tribe is accused of all of the historical woes that has befallen another tribe when it is there for everyone to see in black and white. 1.Who started making sectional superiorty comments in public?? 2.Whose leaders insisted that Nigeria must include the Northern region who were so fundamentally different because they were so far behind the other two (and even Northern leaders saw no hope in Nigeria for themselves until they were sweet talked and made foolish promises that have come to haunt the rest of us in Nigeria who don't happen to be Hausa/Fulani)?? 3.Why was this insisted on- could it have been because this particular tribe had gone so far from their home that they found themselves lording it and being a privileged class over that largely illiterate region? 4.Also- after coexisting peaceably with Yorubas and other minorities in the North for almost a 100 years, why was the first Northern (and Nigerian) genocide commited by Northerners against the Easterner ? 5.Why did these Eastners still insist on a Nigeria despite this happening pre-indepndence (go back to question 3 for the answer)? 6. What tribe was the first to publicly accuse the other of tribalism all because they didn't let the Zik of Africa (indeed Africa) rule over a region he did not exclusively call home? Were their no literate leaders of that same region who could lead their people themselves? Why did Eyo Ita not remain premier in the east then if this tribe was truly as detriablised as they claimed? 7. Who shared power with the North after independence creating the template for the modern Nigerian "born to rule mentality"?? 8. What tribe openly canvassed and got the breaking up of another region to increase their sphere of influence?? 9. Who later decided that they couldn't stand being subservient to the North in the center and wanted to renegotiate terms?? 10. When they failed politically who committed the first military coup to renegotiate those terms?? Was he Yoruba- despite the fact that the Yoruba had lost out politically since 1960? 11. Whose leaders died? Whose leaders all lived? Who is Ifeajuna's (the man behind the coup) cousin? Who was conveniently out of the country when this took place? 12. Which tribe benefitted from the coup, whose son and army of advisers led?? Which tribe forced Nigeria into a Unitary system, knowing they dominated the civil service in 2 out of 3 regions?? 13. Which tribe voluntarily engages in a war and then singlehandely blames one tribe for not feeding them and their impoverishement?? Despite the fact that in the whole of Nigeria, only their did they feel safe during the war, get their property back and not even one Igbo hair was reported harmed as vengance or any mob action recorded their. 14. Then what old fool rehashes all of this, puts the blame on Yorubas for their starving dead, impovershiment, defeat, political irrelevance etc. (while choosing to absolve his first cousin of any blame) propagating disdain/pity in so many like me who loved his dignifed Igboness before. You people always say we should be honest, but why don't you try it for once. |

Weren't most of the early pre independence political and historical books about Nigeria written by Westerners?? Surely they should be able to find where an eminent Yorubaman expressed their disrespect and superiority over the other inhabitants of southern Nigeria and Africa like FFK feels those Igbo Icons did?? |
Apparently the pictures of the wife are fake and not original- it seems those pics are of a Japanese woman who took part in a reality plastic surgery show. Anyway here's another link, that seems to have the Adonis himself- don't know if they are real but definitely the people in it look more Chinese than the other one. http://stunninginterestingfact-s.files./2012/10/-418154_423443167710640_1679428-57_n.jpg http://stunninginterestingfacts./?ref=spelling |
Why are they delaying?!! Where is that Yoruba Otimpku SAN Falana, the Yoruba Otimpku Political Pastor Tunde and co.. Oya o!! Time to occupy NNPC, DPR and CPC..
Sad little boy......... he thinks calling Yoruba up and down will help his campaign for Eze..... shows how intelligent you think your constitiuency is :shakeshead: |
charlsecy4: What does it mean to sin against the Holy Spirit?God bless you for this link, its so beautiful!! |
tiarabubu: See the kind people wey suppose get national award for bringing qualitative education to NigeriansGod bless you!!!! R.I.P ma and I pray you find your reward where it truly matters. Also may your family's legacy remain enviable. |
violent: MI was kind enough to have dedicated "all of 10 seconds" of thought to it! He even wondered "briefly"!!!Nice piece but would it have been asking too much for you to have properly read what M.I. actually wrote? You would have seen that both of you are trying to make the same point on the "10 seconds" analogy. |
VoodooDoll: Chinua Achebe has fallen apart. This is why I hate idolising that generation of Africans, the saboteurs who brought us to where we are now. What I hate so much about that generation is how hypocritical they were, most of them wouldn't admit they were tribal supremacists and practically all of them were. What I still can't get is that, in my opinion they had less reason to be tribalist than we do. I can't express how disappointed I am with him after reading that biased garbage. |
ACM10: I'm tired of your hide-n-seek style of debate. You have been making ignorant assertions and you expect me to prove you wrong. I think the onus is on you to prove your assertion. You cannot tell me that starvation is not a war crime and expect me to prove that it is a war crime. If you continue in this fashion, I might be forced to ignore you.So you took your time to dig this out but you refused to read/comprehend the part in bold eh...... kai!!! |
can't you people just have a little bit of self-control? This is the kind of behaviour that made northerners kill almost 30,000 people before the civil war. igbos are dominating abi? common sense. i just hope ihejirika does not try to high-five the president again in public, you know, in response to his reappointment.
Immediately prior to this shake-up 2 well known Yoruba sons were service chiefs at the same time and NO ONE saw this song and dance on a supposedly "Yoruba Forum". In fact most of them didn't know Ibrahim was Yoruba as we purposely kept mum, allowing them to celebrate Ihejrika's achievement uncontested (seeing as every fool could recognise that was actually an important symbolic milestone worth celebrating that was long overdue).Anyway, rock on my brothers east of the Niger, they have still not heard you in Borno ![]() |
acidtalk: This man called Olusegun Aremu Mathew Okikiola Obasanjo still remains Nigeria's FUNNIEST and WITTIEST president Ever.OBJ would have commanded undying love from his kith and kin if only he didn't have that Nigerian syndrome of pulling down his betters and promoting mediocrity (especially concerning his own knismen). Anyway I think deep down we Yorubas do appreciate him, but we can't pretend his failings weren't monumental. |
airmark: It means ZUBBY77, has been truthful with his claims about Anambra's criminality. I am ashamed of all those who have been attacking ZUBBY77, for uncovering the truth. Truth is scary. That's NL for you, tell the truth and you are accused of all things under the sun. Anyway I don't agree that the truth is scary- it is the only thing that is able to set us free in this nation of chains we find ourselves in. Zubby77, I hope you get your brother back soon in Jesus name. |
People forget that Buhari is first and foremost a soldier and by most accounts a soldier's soldier. Anyway there is nothing surprising that in the military a junior pays respect to his senior by many years and ranks ATT. Ojukwu might have later turned out to be a failed political figurehead, but a good soldier would always give him the respect his sojourn in our military deserves. If still unsure go see the way Buhari was talking about TY Danjuma and Gowon at the last Silverbird Man of the year event- OBJ could never humble himself to talk about Gowon let alone Ojukwu like that. |

Funnily, the only way I can see the core North taking over power in 2015 is if GEJ contests. So ethnic champions, muse on that! |
