andrewbaba44:Last 3 actually. Chelsea beat him first before the international break. The defence had their worst performance of the season. We move. |
When Haaland was interviewed concerning his future, he said 3 major things will shape his next phase: a place where fans still watch the games in the stadiums to maximum capacity, a team where winning trophies was a habit and the opportunity to compete in the Uefa Champions League. You are just setting yourself up for heartbreak if you think Haaland will commit to any club that is not sure of qualifying for the Champions league let alone winning anything. Then if you think Haaland will receive €20M a year and play second fiddle to Mbappe who is reportedly going to receive €50M a year, you have a long thing coming. The reality is, Real Madrid cannot sign both Haaland and Mbappé in this coming window. Mbappé is their man for now. Forget his double-speak, he has all but committed 5 years of his life to Madrid. Haaland is currently stuck in limbo as only 3 teams can acquire him for now (based on his criteria) and one of them is in Germany playing with Lewandowski as their main man. The other 2 clubs are PSG and Manchester City. Real Madrid will only be able to get him in 2023 and sorry to say but Barca can neither acquire him now nor next season. Just put off your "fan mind" sometimes and be objective. It helps. |
ItisHi:I am not a Barca fan means I did not watch the game? ![]() |
FirstbornWds:Exactly. He was running from the Left wing to get those chances because he was reading the Napoli defence well. Me I know he is better than this at finishing chances because I saw him at City. Which is why I feel he will still come good in finishing his chances. |
ItisHi:Rubbish. I am not a Barca fan but even I could see that the penalty Adama got was lucky as the cross itself was bad. The defenders fingers barely touched the ball even though it was enough to get VAR to review it. If you see the truth, say it as it is. |
FirstbornWds:That is where the intelligence of a player comes in. If they are doubling up on you [Adama] it means you should exploit the channels with a pass since it means a barca player will be unmarked. That was what Dembele did when he came on. He was linking up quicker which was helping Barca find that open man which happened to consistently be Ferran. So the half full narrative is, if Barca creates high quality chances like this in the return leg, Barca will most probably win it. |
FirstbornWds:You are being reasonable. If I was a Barca fan I would be angry with the missed chances but what emotional fans can't see is, Auba or Luke would not have made some of those openings because they would not have been positioned how Ferran was to get those chances. |
ItisHi:Adama played absolute nonsense today but you won't see it because he played well against Español. Sometimes playing well just involves releasing a pass quickly which he never did all game. On 2 occasions he would have released a pull out to Auba but he focused on trying to beat 2 players. But you Barca zealots won't see it because Ferran missed chances which only came up by the way because Dembele was doing all the things Adama could not do all game. And you wonder why Xavi took him off. |
FirstbornWds:In how many games prior to today have Barcelona created high quality chances? This team was in the doldrums and is just getting back to form. A player can also be nervous and less composed because he knows the expectations on him. If his issue was misplacing passes, not being available where chances should have been etc then one can be worried. Not in a game that a good finisher missed chances. That aspect can easily be fixed with consistency and composure. |
andrewbaba44:Are you minding him? Gabriel Jesus and Sterling have more blood on their hands than Ferran. |
Debroslink:You are a pissy Barcelona fan. I watched this game because it was the only meaningful game currently going on. Most soccer lovers watched the game. Ferran missed chances which nobody is denying. Even the player was feeling bad after the game and you could see his teammates come to encourage him. He knows he shit the bed. But his overall game play was good and that should give you hope. There is not one Manchester City player in their current roster that finishes chances better than Ferran. Not Kevin, Mahrez, Sterling, Foden. Not one player. If you know any, name the player and I will show you misses from said player this season alone. |
Debroslink:Trust me I know his weak point and finishing is not it. If you see a player who will position himself well and link up with the forward you have hope that the finishing will come back. He is not Adama Traore who habitually misses chances. Granted, he missed 2 or 3 big chances in this game but those chances were not presented on a platter of Gold. He had to run into the channels to get them. |
Debroslink:This is a lie. I support City and Guardiola refused to sell Ferran until the player asked to leave. Phil Foden misses chances far worse than anything Ferran has missed today. Rather than complain about the chances what about his positioning and linkup play? |
etidy:The warriors fully fit can just about beat every single team they have played this season in a 7 game series. Some will be tougher than others of course. They did not return to the mean, they have just lost their defensive glue which also happened to be their best creator. And it has coincided with trying to help Klay get back into his rhythm. Steve Kerr's issue has always been being too intelligent for his own self. How he sees things is from a long term perspective- it will favor the team for Klay to be back to his best. But short term it has distorted Wiggins and Poole who were having great seasons with the former even making an Allstar team for the first time in his professional career. What I do find incredibly stupid is the stubbornness not to get a center. We could have even tried to acquire Serge Ibaka. The front office believe so much in Wiseman which is fine but Wiseman and Loon as our only centers is next level asinine. The next issue is in game management. Steve Kerr took Curry out when he was burning hot against the clips when we led 52-44 and we lost the lead and never recovered. He sees Klay shooting us out of games and does not bridle his excesses. Klay did same again yesterday. Then we are up 2 with few seconds to go and let the opposing team shoot a 3. Like who does that? Gary Payton 11 was having a defensive game for the ages but he did not play the last 5 mins of yesterday when we blew away our 8 points lead. It has been a shit show in the last 5 games 4 of which were very winnable. I know that with Wiseman and Klay (Draymond) back to who they can be, then we can win it all. But that is just leaving everything to chance. Teams just eat us in the paint because our defense has become porous. The season has more stories to tell but I don comot my heart jare. |
Debroslink:I am trying to watch the game. Apart from the chance laid off by Aubamayang what other glaring chances has he missed? The only issue I see with him is he is not looking around before deciding to shoot. One time he should have passed to Alba to his left. |
Steph Curry, Steve Kerr, Klay and Wiggins. I don't believe in you guys anymore. Even without Draymond, you can't throw away a 16 pt lead at home and lose to a buzzer by overhelping when you have a 2 point lead. This hurts as bad as the Knicks game. I am too young to be doing this to my heart. I will revisit during the playoffs. Signing out of basketball till then. |
OhBritannia:LOL. Mbappe has 99% signed for Real Madrid. He is not coming to Barca and was never going to. Haaland may have considered Barca but not this current set up under Xavi as this Barca will still be in Madrid's shadow in the next 2 years at least and Haaland wants to meaningfully compete. Real Madrid cannot afford Haaland and Mbappe at the same time as well. They knew it which is why they prioritized Mbappe over Haaland. There are speculations that they have told Haaland to stall with Dortmund till 2023 when his current contract will allow him leave for free so they can get him but both players have some ego and we know Haaland will not want to play with Mbappe at Real Madrid. |
kevwe419:Jealous people. As if City did not beat Zidane's RM home and away in 2019/20. |
oluplus:Chelsea should stop them this season too kwan. |
donstan18:He has already signed with them. |
oluplus:Nonsensical question. Last season and this one are not the same. |
popizaino:Some people prefer copium. Why discourage them from drinking it? As if City did not try to buy Bruno, Fred, Maguire, Pogba, Ronaldo to mention but a few. Sancho was a player City begged to stay when he left. How will someone then turn around and call these same players inferior to what City has if it is not ...ment. |
benji93:You know how it goes. Regular season games matter when the Suns win but when GSW does, they are just regular season games. |
I guess the refs could not give out any more imaginary calls. Either that or we just have to thank God that they missed many of the free free throws otherwise we would have lost to this bum squad. How did the front office not see that we are too small? Even if Draymond comes back, he is not that tall to compete with the Ayton's and McGee's of this world let alone the Giannis' and KDs. I don't know whatever shape Wiseman will return in and at this point, I don't know what to expect. Wiggins has to make free throws and a vigil has to be held concerning SCs 3pt shooting. Something is definitely wrong somewhere. We should have won this game by 15. |
andrewbaba44:Capricious Dan. |
andrewbaba44:Liverpool fan so a Kloppist. |
raumdeuter:Liverpool fan. |
andrewbaba44:I wonder why people think RM can afford to pay all these players at the same time. lol. As for Salah, they will announce his new contract in summer. People think you can just replace a player like that? |
DeeMain:Although he has not taken care of his body, I still believe in Philly, he will be formidable. My issue is, he folds in the playoffs and has done so consistently. I hope things are different this time around. He got what he wanted as soon as he was done with Brooklyn and if memory serves us right, he also wanted to go to Philly from Houston when he was trying to force his way out. |
DeeMain:The Nets when fully fit are the team to beat. Philly got better but James Harden in the playoffs is still... As for my warriors, we need a center. Right now my money is on Phoenix. But I personally think the East (say Nets) are the team to win it all. |
50d33q:Pjanic |
andrewbaba44:Cancelo is a fraud. Liverpool have the best RB, LB, CB, DM, Wingers, Strikers and best coach. |
