AnfieldFan: Ever since you said The Etihad fills up more than Anfield, I do not want to continue on some lines of argument with you because I find them(the arguments) exhausting...
The Super cup is a major trophy.. This is 2022 and emotional blackmail still is not evidence. It won't hold up in court nor in any sensible argument. Your own screenshot says the competition is NOT a major event and yet you insist it is? Haha. Even without your screenshot how do you think it would make sense that the winners of 2 competitions played one game but you want to uphold one of them and disregard the other? So again, the evidence defeats you just like it did with stadium attendance. By the way, since 2003, City has recorded better attendance than Liverpool in the EPL. Long before Sheikh Mansour took over. City always maxed out their 46K capacity before the investment to increase capacity. In fact, a somewhat irrelevant FA Cup game against Fulham has been sold out for at least a week now but continue with your emptyhad narrative. Facts don't care about your feelings my man.

AnfieldFan: Man City 2008/09 -21/22
1447.55b net spend /13 trophies =111.35M per trophy
Liverpool 2008/09 - 21/22 454.92m net spend / 5 trophies =90.984 per trophy won..
Community shield isn't included...
This argument is mischievous too as Liverpool as a traditional big club will win a trophy here and there.... hehe hehe. You removed Community Shield but counted Super cup and you are talking about mischief. You either count City's Community shield or you throw away Liverpool's European Super cup - they are both tinpot in weightage. When you do the math again, post the figure here in highlights. I want to check something. |

When VVD or Salah sign a new deal we can compare. From what year do the comparisons come into effect? City have a much higher NetSpend than Liverpool over the last few years... From even when Sheikh bought City till date. If you like, we can focus on from when Klopp was hired it is the same because Liverpool have not really won much compared to City. |

WhoDeyHause: Okay. They saved his wages. But they should have at least tried to get a loan fee from Barka before deciding on that. If they are daydreaming of signing haaland they should at least have some money to pay. Now he might go and shine there after going at nothing. Barca now own the player 100% so no loan fee can be involved. |

No rumour has been debunked till the new contract is signed and announced. As for incentivized, how would we know? John Stones figure there is an improved contract that was recently signed. He earned far less in 2015-16. |

AnfieldFan: What is D'Bruyne's base Salary...What is Virgil's .. Sportrac is the go to site for player wages...I pulled my info from there..
City have a higher NetSpend than every other football team in the world... Nobody forced them to spend on players they wouldn't use... Between 250-320k a week before bonuses which pushes it to 385K. That means the base is 250K. Sportrac is not tier 1 for City - anyone who knows City should know this. Netspend means nothing, after all, trophies/money spent City is doing far better than Liverpool which means, they spend less to win more than Liverpool.

AnfieldFan: Android22
Details here Bro
This was when he signed a new contract back then... Nobody is arguing that Liverpool's wages were not incentivized. Even Salah's proposed new contract, Auba's last contract at Arsenal, Alexis Sachez's at United were all incentivized. DeBruyne's nonetheless. That figure you have for him for e.g is a contract he signed in 2021 and Salah is asking Liverpool for 500K because Liverpool pays very good wages even if they spend less than City on transfers. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Android22: 10:48pm On Jan 31, 2022 |
AnfieldFan: The irony in accusing me of lying when I'm right...City doesn't need to shell out incentives because the pay players well enough on base salaries already... City's incentives to the best of my knowledge is tied to trophies ..
Liverpool's incentives are tied to player performances...(If Arnold assists in 4 consecutive matches, he gets (*) amount, if Allison saved 5 shots per match, he gets (*) amount, Bobby gets 20k for each 5 goals scored) etc...
Now you brought up salaries, I'm talking salaries but you've shifted to players City have moved on which has no bearing on this debate because Liverpool and every other club has also moved on players within that time period. Also, the players moved on most times didn't go for free which also factors into the NetSpend. Liverpool having a larger squad means higher number of people earning wages... My friend who accused me of comprehension issues again. Those figures listed there are nonsensical. Grealish's base salary is nearer 250k - it was discussed on this thread when he was signed. DeBruyne earns 385K per week with incentives. The argument did not shift and nobody was focusing on moved players. City spent whatever figure you had on 477 players compared to other English big teams that spent comparable amounts on 369-417 players. So my point was, City bought more players with more money even when many of those players never featured (which means they did not play a role in City's success). In fact, City have spent less for more trophies than Liverpool if we divide the number of trophies won per money spent.

Kilishihunter: Even that Diaz Porto were first of all quoting 70-80m for Liverpool and totenham but due to good negotiations and Porto not wanting to lose him for less in the summer they agreed to the deal, Had it been pep was interested and bought him higher than 50m, All hell would be let loose Tottenham were being told to pay 60M flat but they let Liverpool take the player for initial 37.5M. The same player would register different "transfer fee" if he had gone to a different club. |

AnfieldFan: Liverpool has the most incentives of any top club in EPL, Virgil's wage bill is not 300 and above whereas D'Bruyne's own is but I don't want to dwell on that... City pay more in annual wages than Liverpool bases solely on First team players.. Secondly, Liverpool has a much larger squad.. Your response is defensive and obviously mostly false - the team with 3 (soon to be 4) EPLs in 5 (6) years will pay out more bonuses than the other with 1 in the same 5(6) years. Then Liverpool squad being larger is the 'rules for thee but not rules for me' argument because when you listed how much City had spent on transfers, they have bought significantly more players per the overall transfer fee compared to all the other teams. Pablo Mari that was just loaned out by Arsenal, Douglas Luiz in Aston Villa are 2 players whose names are amongst those listed as the players City spent billions on even when those players never played one game for City. And there are like 15-20 other names like that. |

He may be having problems in his marriage? This has to be psychological........ Steph Curry's issue...hmmm. Let us just hope he will figure it out during the playoffs. I don't think he has marriage issues (forget the rumours about an open marriage). His wife sternly denied it and I believe her. If his shooting issues had started beginning of the season, I would have suspected maybe even his parent's marriage. But for now, I think maybe he is distracted by his life outside of basketball especially after eclipsing Ray Allen's record. Personally, the epiphany dropped when I saw the Neymar docuseries on Netflix. I know there might be mechanical reasons as to why his shooting is off but I agree with you that to me it is more psychological than otherwise (at least staying on the politically correct lane). |

AnfieldFan: I don't know how this is relevant as I'm not even talking wage bills here though they factor in the argument as well....
Secondly, Liverpool's wage bill is highly incentivized by certain performance accomplishments... Virgil didn't play almost throughout last season, how much do you think he earned pee week? The underlying issue was that Netspend does not factor wage bill. Believe me, every club's wage bill is incentivized. As City did not win the UCL last season, many of the figures you saw there would not be maxxed out. |

raumdeuter: Players are deliberately running down their contracts now to move on a free transfer and eat all the money alone without their parent club getting anything
Chelsea can lose Azpi Christensen and Rudiger for free meaning Newcastle or PSG can just get all 3 for free by promising huge wage.
If Madrid end the transfer window for the past 2 seasons adding Mbappe Pogba Alaba 3 of the best players in their position for a sum total of 0 which can free up money to buy some other not free players. Basically Madrid can set up a world class 11 with 100-200m which another team will spend 900m for an inferior team because they are not getting them for free This is accurate and drives home the point I was trying to make to him that day. It is not enough to just say team A spent 1B and team B spent 600M therefore Team A should be more successful. Just like the example you gave above, Team B could also be paying the players more money which is not covered with the transfer fee and Netspend argument. That is not to say money does not help with succeeding. |

That is not defensive or attacking? That is Balance!!! Ladies and gentlemen, it's Balance!!! You are saying this like he did this in the same season which he did not. If you look at things critically, both are great stats but they barely mean much. His team conceded 32 goals in the league that 2011-12 season and scored 72 goals in the season he conceded 15 goals. Both stats prove that he only focused on one aspect in those seasons. Next. |
