to add to this, the original tests are habitually more accurate than the subsequent tests. In fact, if a team got that many positives, Liverpool would have (and should have) ordered a 3rd round of tests but like you rightly said, they knew the outcome they wanted and gamed the stupid system.

You know one more funny and confusing thing about this people capping non-sense about UCL with or without Messi, they are the same set of people who believe Messi is a fraud and Ronaldo is a GOAT, yet they are quick belittle the UCL won by pep guardiola because he won with the same Messi who is believed to be a fraud. I usually avoid all these Pep arguments because they are largely disingenuous. It is like someone 8 years from now saying Xavi is a fraud because he never won a title without Ansu Fati (if he goes on to become the talent everyone says he is). They are setting the disqualifying factor after the fact. Notice how they keep talking about 1 billion squad and how he has been there compared to other teams that had to change managers. They are trying to make his not being fired a disadvantage to him. I can't subscribe to such arguments. They are nonsensical. I'd rather discuss tactics and teams tbh.

The only time a striker can be blamed for not making runs is when his midfielders are dominating the game or when his full backs are overloading the flanks and putting in crosses. I have never seen where a striker is blamed for not making runs when his team can't string 3 passes together. I know why Lukaku is now a scape goat. It is that interview he granted. Simple.

Do you remember when this same Lukaku was the reason Conte did not do well in 2017-18? When the board did not give Conté Lukaku even though they bid and were close to signing the player but Manchester united offered more money? Or when Chelsea offered 60M for VVD and Southampton were going to agree till Liverpool offered 75M? Some people here don't know what it is to bid for a player. So what should the board have done to get Haaland? Offer 200M? Mehn, my eyes are hurting.

Any manager that does not get his first choice was not helped by the board?

I am not contending that but I don't even think Lukaku's issue is about not adapting. I just feel teams have Chelsea sussed out. Lukaku is not the major issue in these past few games even though he has been poor.

I played the "if" because that is what a thinking player would do and the person who got it wrong was Ziyech which is why Lukaku berated him for overhitting it. Ziyech does that alot.

He hates playing with his back to goal when in a root one tactic. He played with his back to goal here and there for Inter but primarily he will run behind defenders, make in and wide runs to help his 8 or 10 come in and he will take on defenders here and there. A more evolved target nine like Lewandowski not the archaic target men we have always known.

I saw that pass and if he made an in run he would have been off. Ziyech overhit the pass. Simple.

It's not even about pressing. Lukaku kept making the wrong movement today. When he doesnt, he becomes static like a pole.

Nah this is extremely one sided. Mention one pass that he should have received that he did not? Lukaku is a target man striker. He is useless when he does not play to his strength.

Fair observation but I think they are using the wings to attack Chelsea more effectively than Chelsea. Chelsea's attack have come from both sides of the pitch where CHO/Alonso and Ziyech/Azpi have occupied with Mount in the middle of that 3. Chelsea get possession, they have no purpose in attacking the Brighton back 5 who are quite comfortable sitting high up and winning back the ball in the middle of the park. This is why it seems like every time Brighton win the ball, they are immediately in an attacking situation without even transitioning the ball.

You are right for sure. Just pointing out what I think Brighton are trying to do when Chelsea are in possession of the ball.

He has his days but in this game they want Lamptey to run him ragged. Chelsea have noticed this and are forcing them (or trying to) into Azpi's wing but Azpi is not having a great game and Silva has been playing help defence all game.

I have already counted 3 times Brighton have made conscious efforts to involve Welbeck immediately they get the ball and attack. What I am seeing with Chelsea is a stark difference. CHO gets the ball, dribbles himself, runs the overlapping players out of position and the attack is dead. Ziyech picks the ball and does the same. The midfielders have no intention of pushing the ball into the attacking 3rd, so they are either sitting deep with the ball or content not having the ball. There is no purpose in attack or going forward..

A lot of this is down to Brighton and I dare say they are following after City's playbook. Brighton are pressing Chelsea into funneling the ball via Alonso as they have identified him as the weak link. It is subtle but that is the summary of what I can observe.
