How can a police officer be drunk while on duty only to use the gun assigned to him to kill? This should be a public concern and the IG who is doing a good job should look into this and call for investigation. Those officers should be arrested, dismissed and prosecuted.

For me, I believe that NYSC program has outlived it's value. I only see it as a curse and not a blessing. Someone will borrow money to train his/her child only for the child to die along serving his nation.The NYSC program was for good during it's birth and youths benefited whereby you will even be recruited while graduating or while serving, government establishments or parastatals will have one employed.

Right now, it has turned to be a curse to the society whereby parents have lost their children after spending their hard earned money on them, then the government will execute them through NYSC program.Parents has lost their children participating in an NYSC program during election, or by road accident, and some been kidnapped and raped to death. I only think that some officials are benefiting through the whole program to the detriment of the children of the poor. The well to do individuals, government officials will not have any of their children deployed to those volatile areas as they would end up having their children posted to anywhere they would want them to be safe.

My children will NEVER EVER participate in any NYSC program as I will empower them to be self employed.

NYSC has added sorrow and pain to many homes.

I hereby call on the authorities to either have those children posted to the areas where their parents are or their own state of origin since the government never paid for their education or contributed to their welfare. Let the authorities ONLY allow those under the federal government scholarship, if any, be meant to do the National Youth Service. Children their parents suffered and borrowed money to train, should be exempted from the program in order for them to find their way and look for jobs since no government can provide them with any jobs after service.

Those they are ready to give jobs, let them ONLY go for the program and after their service, an automatic employment should be given to them.

Don't think they are all that beautiful per say.Just normal ladies or women per say.

The procedure is entirely wrong. NUC got it wrong. They should have given them 1 yr to allow those already registered to pull through against next yr, then they can now wound it up.

The people who already paid close to 200k for the pre-dregre programs would do what now? Are the schools going to process them for a refund?

After using that number of yrs outside trying to hide what he has stolen. He knew that he cannot run and hide anywhere in the world cus America is not where he can hide himself as he can be fished out when the authorities need to get him.
To have himself submitted to the authorities would serve him better but let him start returning the money he has stolen.

Jurisdictions could be Maiduguri, Abuja, Kano, etc, but never clustered. Same as you don't have Western States of Nigeria instead of say, Lagos, Ogun, oshun, etc.

Sometime in the early hours of October 8th, 2016 men of the Directorate of State Security (DSS) carried out Gestapo like invasions on the homes of a number of Justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and the Federal High Court.

The affected Justices of the Supreme Court were, Sylvanus Ngwuta and Inyang Okoro. The affected Judges of the Federal High Court were Muazu Pindiga, Adeniyi Ademola, Abdullahi Liman and Nnamdi Dimgba.

At this time, Justices Ngwuta and Okoro of the Supreme Court and Justices Adeniyi & Pindiga had been abducted and detained. Justice Dimgba only escaped abduction because he was not at home at the time. Justice Abdullahi’s abduction was prevented by the timely intervention of Governor Nyesom Wike, who insisted on the observance of the rule of law and the application of due process.

Governor Nyesome Wike was assaulted by the men of the DSS during his intervention causing him to sustain injuries on his arm. At a point, an officer pointed a fully cocked gun at him and threatened to shoot him.

The invasion was carried out between 0100hrs and 0500hrs in the early morning using hundreds of fully armed men of the DSS. During the invasion, the Justices were manhandled and members of their families as well as their household staff beaten up.

This invasion is the latest in a series of actions taken by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration which reveal its disregard for the rule of law and its abject disdain for the Principle of Separation of Powers.

This inexorable slide into fascism began with the invasion of the Akwa Ibom State Government House by the self same DSS, the continued detention of several people despite Courts ordering their release, the invasion of the Ekiti State House of Assembly and detention of Hon. Akanni Afolabi and the invasion of the Zamfara State House of Assembly.

This slide into fascism has included a sustained attack on the leadership of the National Assembly as President Buhari has sought to break its independence and make it a rubber stamp to suit his will.

It is worthy to note that NEVER in the history of our Country has any President attacked the Judiciary in such a manner. Even the late dictator - General Sani Abacha, whose regime is remembered by many as the second worst regime in Nigerian history, did not carry out such Gestapo style attacks on the members of the Judiciary.

By bringing this attack to the Judiciary, President Buhari has shown that he has no desire to respect the pillars of our democracy. He has shown his desire to kill off our democracy and convert it to an autocracy without checks and balances.

The government has no regard for the rule of law. They do not care about Court Orders. This Government has disregarded the Orders of the ECOWAS Court and every other Courts in the land and continue to detain Dasuki illegally. They continue to detain hundreds of Nigerians without bringing them to trial and against valid Court Orders.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Constitution in Section 153(1)(i) and Part 1 of the Third Schedule thereto establishes the National Judicial Council (NJC) and empowers same to regulate and discipline judges across the Country. The proper path to follow to discipline erring judges will be to forward a petition containing any wrong doing to the NJC along with any evidence in support thereof.

The path not to follow is this Gestapo style invasion in the middle of the night that involves the use of sledgehammers to breakdown gates and front doors for DSS to gain access to the homes.

Nigerians can no longer afford to stand aside and watch the Buhari Administration destroy the foundations of our democracy that we have built for several years. Nigerians have a duty to speak out against this sort of tyranny.

You nailed it. Our judiciary is a pure disgrace to humanity and the legal profession. Armed robbers are better than they are.With money as a big man in Nigeria, you can commit any offense and get out of it. That is why politicians can kill their opponents and get away with it.

That IG does not know what his men has been doing. I was traveling to Shagamu via Ikorodu towards NNPC in Ogun State, at a Place they call Italuwo Boarder between Lagos and Ogun State, you will notice a serious road block by The Nigerian Mobile Police officers all armed to the teeth, extorting money from all commercial vehicles. On coming back to Lagos from Ogun State the next day, after an official business assignment, I noticed same sight and later pulled over to ask some people around what was happening because of the traffic build up , I was told that the Police officers has been their for over 6 months extorting money and do start releasing bullets on the air if any of those buses fail to give them money.

This is an eyesore as I was with a friend who came in from abroad and I call on the IG to direct the Lagos state commissioner of Police to that area to restore hope for people over their by arresting these officers as I believed they were there on illegal duty. If nothing is not done, I see someone been killed and it will be tagged as accidental discharge.

The Lagos state government should do something about the activities of these Police Official Armed Robbers
