at the cost of letting peace and civilian governance reign.
Even though the common man cannot afford to stay afloat? how ingenious!

The labor leaders can take their stupid strike and go to hell. What we need is to do more work, not less. angry
At what cost?
PoliticsRe: Nigeria: My Candid Thoughts by angel101(f): 9:03am On Jun 18, 2007
Seun:
It is only in Lagos that people do a little amount of work. In my town, you will find a lot of people sitting in front of their houses doing nothing most of the time. Many small companies have employees sitting around doing nothing. Apart from the fact that Nigerians do a lot of nothing, what's worse is that we hardly read or use our brains.

People don't want to work; they just want to make money. They wish God/Government would send them money.
I do agree with u Seun but not totally. Yes everyone needs to pull their own weight to make things happen for them but the govt does need to provide an enabling environment which even u would agree is not in place.

Seun:
All countries have serious problems (the US has George Bush). Prosperity comes from hard work. Simple. You may think our government is corrupt, but at least they don't collect 60% of your salary and 'inheritance tax' when you die.
The nigerian govt has absolutely no moral justification to even consider this!

watchung:
Sad to say this but our leaders have been a reflection of ourselves and we in deed deserve whatever we are getting or have gotten. I have to agree with Seun on this one though. The Govt can't solve all your problems because it takes individual ingenuity to succeed and prosper and the Gov't can only serve as an enabling environment. Bottom line is individuality first and collectively second. I do think Nigeria will move forward if Yar'adua just follows the damn policies Obj started.
There is obviously no enabling environment in nigeria.

And yes public officers should be mandated along with their families to use our local facilities.
PoliticsRe: How Could This New Administration Prevent Government Officials From Being Corrupt? by angel101(f): 5:46pm On Jun 17, 2007
I would suggets that
1. All public accounts should be published at least quarterly
2. Immunity for Govs and presido should be scrapped
3. There should be very clear standards that must be met for any job executed
4. All contracts for infrastructural development should be awarded by open bidding system
5. Question and answer session for heads of parastatals, ministers, govs and presido should be held quarterly.

These should help.
PoliticsRe: The List Of Arrested Corrupt Governors (after May 29th) by angel101(f): 5:06pm On Jun 17, 2007
Big B1:
They should not be allowed to determine how much to be returned. Fed Govt should implement a new department within EFCC to thoroughly investigate each and every single government officials from 1999 to 2007 (not only the governors) and estimate how much these people should return.

They should be given only 10 days to return stolen money. If any of them comes with mago mago, this individual should be sent straight to kirikiri for 50 years with out any parole.

Trust me, after 1 or 2 scapegoats, you guys will see how quick these bastards respond to this proposal.

Nigerians usually respond positively after a scape goat is witnessed.
while i agree with u, i wonder though why the investigation should be restricted to the last 8 years.

Lol! u too funny.

McKren:
My brothers staggered elections and swearing in is a welcomed development. It will encourage grass-root politics not the current scenario where someone sits in Abuja and pontificates who governs and who wont.

The will of the people in our politics is about to be restored.
i totally agree. Let the decision be truly in the hands of the governed.
