Excuses, excuses! Y dont the govt just do whatever it takes to give nigerians cinstant power supply, I suppose that would mean building enough power stations throughout the country. (which i believe is being done now) they should get on with it and not bug us down with their senseless theories of sabotage. isnt it an irresponsible govt who can be held to ransome by a very few business men? What are the laws of the land meant for? I beg give my people light jare! |

@ menyi i find it rather so surprising that people of so much intellect would reason this way. Let me start with the "telephone is not for the poor" stuff. Have you guys ever bothered to ask yourself the salary scale at that time? How many persons could afford stuffs like a VCR (video cassette recorder), how many could afford TV sets How many Nigerians were driving sleek cars at that time. This things were obviously beyond the reach of the common man. To be frank, were this things affordable at that time just as they are now? obviously no. Things are a lot better than those days and i bet you would not have said anything different.Isnt this just a weak excuse for anybody to make no matter how little intellect he/she posesses. First of, where in the world is telephone for the affluent? Can u name 1 single country? The common man could not afford essential services only because they were priced out of the market. Yes people are now able to afford telephones, cars, T.V's etc. Is that because they now earn more? No my dear, it's because the telecoms sector for instance was deregulated and seddenly, the multi links phones which used to sell for 100k plus fell to 15k! Something your dear David Mark thought unecessary so that the common man in Nigeria will forever face deprivation and oppression. For your information. His people adore him So what? Abacha's poeple adore him. Even Hitler's people adore him. How does that change the fact? I can go on and on, The man is just the best thing that happened to the third senate of the fourth republic. Only in your dreams darling. And make no mistake, Nigeria will get rid of his likes. Maybe slowly, but surely. spanga: HI Nairaland users, i wonder all the fuss. Have we forgotten that a rotten process can never produce men of honor & integrity. The unfortunate thing about democracy is that it sometimes overlooks rationality and the majority always have their way no matter how wrong they are. Spot on |

minto: I have absolutely nothing against celebrities but I tell you some of them are unresonable. They allow the wealth and fame rule their head so much that they start misbehaving and have no respect for any individual or the society at large. The situation is mild in Nigeria[except that nigerian stars would always want to copy their foreign collegues]compared to what we have outside here. They practise all the ills of the society; drug abuse/pedalling,drunk/reckless driving.shop-lifting,violence in public places, assault, just name it; when they are supposed to touch many lives by showing good example.I'm happy one of them who was arrested driving with suspended licence[for driving under influence] has just started her jail term .Served her right I would say, cause that sure will serve as deterrent to others who believe they can go against the law at will and get away with it. Spot on uchetobi: But its not in our place to judge them Why not? They are public figures. they belong to us anyway, i quite like Liz Benson. I saw her in a mall in Luton and she was so gracious when i went up to her. She's very beautiful as well. |

I am done trying to educate you on how Nigerian politics works. while you here crying do you realize the so called corrupt governors are all dining and wining with the people you think will put them in jail? This is exactly what we have been saying. only i dont understan what exactly ur point is. if these ur men didnt finance the elections how come they are untouchable and winning and dinning with those supposed to prosecute them? a bit confusing man |

The first signs from Yaradua i'm afraid are not encouraging. Besides the fact that Kingibe represents the old order, this is a man who was a party chairman and his party was believed to have won an election which was fraudulently annulled. and what did he do? he went right ahead and accepted a political appointment from the very perpetrators of the injustice! That tells me a lot about the stuff he is made of. |

MILITIA: Let Y'ardua put his cards on the table first, tell us what he has for the future than we can go from there. If you have been jilted by so many lovers, you are prone to be more cautious in your future relationships. We cannot rally around him without knowing his agenda, lest you become a useless sacrifice. Let us wait and see! Too many failed promises in the past. By the end of the year, we will find out what he is up to. It does not take long to figure out what Nigerians are up to most of the time, since we are all wired the same and we all know each others games. So this is not going to take long. Give him 6 months! Patience guys, patience! I totally agree |

This is from ur link and it is soooooooooo true
The struggle for political power in Nigeria is for most of the time between the North dominated by Muslims and the Southwest dominated by Yoruba Christians whose extremists form the core of Afenifere. Both groups are suffering from feelings of insecurity. The North dominated by indolent leaders feel insecure because they are landlocked and they lack independent ideas of improving the lives of their teeming poverty stricken peasants. |

auwal87: Hahaha, 'Yar Adua was nominated by OBASANJO (STUPID SOUTHERNER) Ruled for 8 YEARS, BUT uptill now, Nigeria has NO Electricity, even common Niger Republic that you are bashing, has her own non-interruptible 24/7 Electricity, Niger Republic has Good Road network, Niger Republic has Good education, Good health, and the country is developing not like Nigeria, if Niger has wealth like Nigeria, I am sure they would have become very developed,
What was your OIL MONEY has to offer in all these YEARS (1970s to 2007) ? Nothing! I am sure there is nothing, Uptill now is Nigerians that travel outside the country to study, but not Foreigners coming to Nigeria to Study, SHAME!!! Now the southerners have ruled for 8 YEARS with nothing to show!!! NOTHING! But now in Niger Republic, crimes are fewer, and everything else is better than in Nigeria, even if you live in Village, you will have access to good water and electricity, and even the internet (like the one im surfing now))), yes OBJ ruled for 8 years after ur retarded (northern) leaders have run the country aground for 40years! Oil money is what ur sorry *ss has been surviving on for the last 48years, it is what built abuja, the kaduna refinery amongst many other things. do us all a favour and hurry on up Niger republic! |

auwal87: That is why I always want our people to understand that Nigeria is in a wrath up, the white man has done a very big mistake by making Nigeria a mixture of Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, all these three ethnic groups are supposed to have their own Country, I am sure if Arewa will be given a republic, you will see a development that will occur in good 10 years, and you will start seeing the Oduduwans and the Inyamirais migrating into Arewa, we will never let you in, we will give very top Visa procedures, you will not be given Visa to enter Arewa, and if we catch you in Arewa without Visa, we will lock you up in Prison for life after then migrate to Prison of Hell.
To all those Pro Resource Controll southerners, Please kindly read this article made by one Good northern Scholar published at this website; http://www.kanoonline.com/publications/pr_articles_resource_control.html
We are also very happy to see us Independent, By the Grace of God, Northern Nigeria will become the Federal Republic of Arewa, or the Islamic Republic of Arewa, and we shall make our notes all in Arabic so that Southerners would not be able to understand it, And we shall build Nuclear Bombs to Destroy the South and take over it, And we will make Arewa the Largest and the most developed country in Africa, and make Arewa one of the worlds most developed countries, We have a big Vision - Mission, What is yours? To have worlds best football players? To have worlds best musician? To have worlds best film actor? or What, why dont u just wake up and stop talking through ur *ss! |
