I don’t understand. Why are you indirectly discouraging people?
If the person decides to send a formal complaint because of perceived displeasable treatment at the embassy... what exactly is your business and why are you saying these insensitive things? It is entirely up to them.. not you.

I can assure you that everyone has a right to positive service no matter the outcome of the visa application.
Your words >>>>(Insensitive, discouraging, not my business) because I aired my opinion, say yours and move on I am entitled to my opinion / post but if it means something else to you or you disagree , l cant help you. It was all part of why the National Assembly summoned the Ambassador, and it hasn't changed anything since then, make Nigerians boycott the US completely for 5 years, maybe Donald Ezego Shehu Ayo Trump will make a CNN broadcast appealing to the US embassy globally to issue visas to Nigerians, spend 20 minutes on each applicants cheesy

You obviously don't get it!
l get it perfectly, you want the VO to treat you nicely, give you a cup of coffee, and give you 1000 hours to explain yourself, and call UBER for you to take you home because you paid visa fees, it is not going to happen anytime soon, if you are not happy with the interview process / treatment meted out to you, avoid the US embassy, Na by force to apply for US visa grin
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by AngelicBeing: 3:06pm On Nov 14, 2019
Broadenyourhori:
That's exactly the problem. No one wants to make a sacrifice - waste of time or not. If everyone sings from the same page about the way and manner Nigerians are being treated at the embassy, maybe there will be an improvement.

I am not talking about granting visas or not. They need to treat people like humans - with respect and dignity! telling someone who has paid for a service "i don't want to hear what you have to say" is rude and condescending. She should have at least taken a minute to listen and still uphold her decision.

"Your problem is not problem" is what is still making people go through treatments of such!

TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by AngelicBeing: 3:03pm On Nov 14, 2019
Broadenyourhori:
Its not about granting visa or not... its about showing respect and business courtesy regardless of your profile or demographics - even if the VO can see through an intended migrate. If i have paid for a service i expect to be treated decently. The more people that apply for visa, the more money they make. So there is a strong correlation and they need to understand that. If only genuine people apply, they will not make less profit for sure
l am not a spokesman for any embassy, Nigeria Embassy has also been accused of the same thing you are accusing the US embassy of?.

The money making angle does not cut it, if you want to be treated like the Emperor extraordinaire of Africa because you applied for a visa, you are not ready to travel, visa is not a right, it is a privilege, if US refuses you visa or treats you with disdain, sit down in your country, hold your thieving politicians to fix the country or apply for visa elsewhere to another country.

The US embassy will not portrate for you or treat you like the Queen or king of Heaven because you paid visa fees, they have the right to refuse or deny you and if part of the denial process is what you called been rude or lack of customer care to applicants, then sit down in your country or else you will continue whinning till eternity and nothing will happen grin

I do understand that, its their business to grant or deny but in a more professional manner. They will never get away with that in any advanced country
I don't think the rules differ in other countries, say for instance

1. Candidate A is from South Africa

2. Candidate B is from Seychelles

3 Candidates C is from Botswana

4 Candidate D is from Mauritius

5 Candidates E is from Ghana

6. Candidate F is from Nigeria.

Let's assume all things been equal, all of them are all residents in Nigeria with the same profile, same age, likely same ties, all going for the same / similar conference but interviewed by different VO's, what do you think might likely be the outcome? several factors might likely play out during the interview session with the different applicants, who among the countries above have serial visa abusers / overstayers, credibility issues, etc you might be surprised to see that candidates A to D might get the visa but E and F might be denied based on several factors but solely on the discretion of the VO's

I doubt if this is going to make much of a difference to you or your situation, but it is what I would do if i was in this position. I would send a complaint letter to the embassy and to Department of Home Security in the USA about the uncanny /unprofessional attitude of this lady. They are providing a service that should be done in a professional/ respectful way regardless if visa will be granted or not.

They cannot and should not intimidate anyone simply because they believe they have an advantage. If you can remember any useful info, make a complaint about the unprofessional service you received - maybe some other people would do the same and will prompt an investigation. They have CCTV with voice recorder in all the cubicles. You never know!
I feel your pain and that of the lady you quoted, even if you write to Donald Olusegun Ibrahim Eze Trump, your letter might not hold water, visa issuance by all embassies is a privilege and not a right, any country including Nigeria can choose to issue or refuse visa to anyone, issuance or refusal is at the discretion of the issuing country / VO and it is not a right that you can contest via protest letter / the judiciary, it is sometimes painful but that is what it is grin

thanks , it to help people not to close up their mind to small small investment,u don't have to put million down , 400k can set up a salon instead of buyer I phone max ,then gradually using same financial models have multiple location and multiple the income....that what rich people do ....simple bussiness that generate constant amount then multiple location increase the income
I,once read a thread on Nairaland of a guy who invested in( Mai shai) tea seller in the Northern part of Nigeria and Akara seller as well, he opened several outlets for both businesses and was doing exactly what you said about the barbing saloon business and he was making cool cash weekly from both the akara and tea sellers respectively, such businesses might look small in the eyes of people but it is bringing in income weekly to the owner and it is enough to get by in Nigeria.

l, once did transportation bizness years ago before I left Nigeria although mine was strictly on hire purchase, l buy several vehicles / motor bikes and give it out on hire purchase, recipient enters agreement with me / my lawyer for 2 years and after payment he now owns it, it was not a bad business for me at that time, atleast, l was always having cash flow weekly before I left Nigeria finally , those kind of SME's are what the current crackheads in Abuja should massively encourage to alleviate the endemic hardship across Nigeria.

l wonder what the so-called social investment intervention funds of Buhari is doing because it seems it is not really addressing the problem of hunger and starvation in Nigeria, or part of the money goes into private pockets of politicians and their cronies, because I don't understand why with all the N-power / N-failure / back to agricultural programs / 500million or billion intervention funds the country is still the world Cup headquarters of acidic poverty of the world shocked

Okay thank you. She intends to travel next year and stay 5 months. with the current trends i think 3 months is sufficient.
Hmmmm, with the current trend in the US embassies in Nigeria , staying 90 days or 5months on a visit visa is not advisable,

Moreover , during interview, you are asked how long will you be visiting, and the applicants will say 10 or 15 days and it is documented on your file, now the applicant Flys to the US and stay for 150 days, when you come back for renewal, it is like a carmel passing through the eyes of a needle for you to qualify for another visa.

It is better to stick to all you said when you obtained the visa originally , Lastly, what people did few years ago and got away with it is highly frowned at now and in most cases leads to refusal / denial , shocked
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by AngelicBeing:
bendo75:
When you think it couldn’t get worse now another ridiculous assumption. Someone few days ago was very happy about the fake news from punch that individuals are barred from buying treasury bills because according to him profits from treasury bills are ‘free money’.

Some of us who invest in treasury bills live abroad and you think we are unpatriotic and greedy by lending to our home country to build infrastructures. You think everybody has time to run a business or even knows how to run a business in a risky environment such as Nigeria. The money we lend to government in treasury bills is put into building of infrastructures that employ many Nigerians. You see building of infrastructures from treasury bills funds creates jobs. Indirectly we are creating jobs. Those folks who earn money working in infrastructural projects funded by treasury bills and bonds in turn put that money back into the economy. So treasury bills investors are not unpatriotic and we are not greedy because our country and many of our fellow citizens are benefiting from our investments.

Another point is that I will never put my money into any business in Nigeria while I reside abroad. Even if treasury bills rate goes to 0.00001%, I will never put my hard earned money into any business in Nigeria. Until our govt. in Nigeria creates a friendly business environment, I will be glad to leave my funds in savings account in the country of my residence than to lose them trying to invest in risky businesses back home.
Shout it louder, I agree with you, after series of investment in Nigeria and my finger burnt, I have learnt my lessons, apart from real Estate investment were l eventually moved my little investment into in Nigeria, l think investing in Nigeria is like a betting machine, your whole investment can be swallowed up by the voodoo economic cobra of the nonsense governmental policies of the government of the day within a twinkle of an eye grin

lol! Stop hating. Going to the US shouldn't be a do-or-die event.

The US embassy can choose any way to scrutinize applicants they want into their Country.

Every Country have different Immigration laws to go by...and that's for a reason they alone understand.

The UK also with their so-called ways of scrutinizing applicant also have hundreds of genuine applicants who were granted the UK visa and after getting to the UK still went on to abuse their legal presence in the UK.

No Country will be able to completely eliminate visas abusers. They can only try as much tactics they know to reduce it.

Even some applicants with the best and genuine documents and convincing strong ties still end up abusing their legal presence abroad if they feel the need to.
What you said about the UK is correct, a neighbor of mine in lagos (a member of our homeowners association) , married with 4kids, who has worked for more than 15 years with LASG, obtained UK visit visa around May last year, I have the copy of his visa as l type because he sent it to me in celebration and told me that he is not coming back to Nigeria again, to cut my story short, the visa was for 6months but he is still in the UK sorting out how to get iyawo, wether UK, US and other western nations, people will still cut corners and genuine applicants will continue to pay for the sins of others. QED.

The hate speech bill further aims the crosshairs on people like myself who without equivocation or any hues of grey criticize the ills of government.

We are threatened by this bill and hope it doesn't scale through because any truth that sounds unpleasant to our leaders is termed hate speech.
But the truth must be spoken.
Unless they'd rather we speak the truth only when outside Nigeria.

looool! cheesy cheesy

On a serious note, most people on the B1/B2 and US student visa are using the weak US immigration loop-holes to stay and obtain legal status in the US by marriage to a US citizen.

The US Visa officers all already know this. They can't change the US immigration laws but they can upgrade their scrutiny to be more strict but that still does not decrease the number of visas abusers who scale through.
Gbam, Na oko and iyawo plenty Buhari children take dey get Kpali / green card for Yankee, but like you highlighted in your post, Donald Olusegun Ibrahim Eze Trump and his VO's globally knows about the Odu

Na him make dem dey build Jericho wall for Mexico axis to stop people wey dey use Mexico route to enter Yankee,

The second option Na to tighten visa issuance to those coming from failed / shithole jungles and he has handed out millions of koboko laden with chilly pepper to flog visa applicants globally and that is why koboko is very expensive now in the market

l think I should start the Supply/ export of koboko laden with chilly pepper to the US embassy globally because the once they have will soon be exhausted.

Visa abusers will continue but unfortunately both the good, bad and ugly are receiving the same koboko laden with chilly pepper from the US embassy until morals improves grin
