FBNH will never do such share reconstruction but I don't trust UBA much because they seems to always give peanuts to shareholders....Dont panic on FBNH but UBA am not sure and as regard UBA you should buy as much as you can if their price eventually reach 2.5naira......I don't have any idea about Skye Bank....Anything Ecobank should be a no no to any investors......Any investment in Ecobank is a useless investment....... lancee: U re right sir , but someone mentioned shares reconstruction regarding thses banking stocks , the thing dey fear me cos i was a victim of oceanic /Ecobank 750k reduced to 44k .. Yem0350: If FBNH shld pay #1 as dividend next year, it means it is 12.83 % div yield. The question is, will they b able to pay it. One nid to invest in div paying stock with @ least 12% div yield, now dat d market is not friendly. Market crash has nothing to do with earnings of FBNH......As for FBNH,if you read todays news very well, their head of finance said oil price will not affect their earnings and he said their dividend payment increases every year and this year won't be different....So do the math..... |

Tjohn1: BREAKING NEWS: The market has finally CRASHED!!! KILODE? It crashed before and after 5years,it bounced back and now that the previous events is repeating itself we should take advantage of low price stocks with strong fundamentals/dividend pay out to massively increase our holdings for long term....Previously when the market crashed,I was so angry and turned away from anything equity and when it bounced back,I couldn't make any profits from the market since I didn't buy any stock within that period....Dont dull yourself, buy cheap now and plan to sell four years later....But buy a lot!....My opinion... |

They have removed it from their website....And the staff they don't want you to buy into it.....I have done it two times both 180days and 365days and its good until their branch starts suppressing my deposit.....Access Bank really need to pay off Intercontinental staff so that the corporate appearance of Access can actually look like Access bank because to me the behavior of some of their branches is still within Akingbolas structure.... femummy: The reason the F R D has a high interest rate is because it is a special product and when you fix your money there, there will be no liquidation until maturity no matter the emergency, unlike the ordinary fixed deposit. They still do the fixed rate deposit in access, problem is their front desk officers don't market it. |

Rates from Access head office will be good but the mixture of old inter-continental bank staff has create Fixed Deposit cartel and the information is not clear.Access bank was doing FRD before which means fixed rate deposit and the rate was very high but the branch network cartel of Old Intercontinental has destroyed it.....Thats why contact center can't give you any viable information......Good work though!.... naijacutee: At the bottom there, it says that the poster tried with Accessbank and the customer service was so poor that they gave up. |

Don't be sorry at all.......ETI is currently dealing with me....I bought their dollar denominated shares in 2008 and when I read from their website they always declare dividend like 0.2cents,0.3cents,0.4cents,0.4cents,0.4cents and from my own calculation that should be 0.17cents but know the kind of 5yrs dividend that I received in my account is like 0.017cents times number of shares held.....How can you write 0.2cents and calculate it as 0.002cents?At least 2cents should be 0.02cents......These are manipulative shares and sorry to say there is no profit in investing your hard earned money into buying anything ETI.....I don't like UBA also with their cheap dividends upon all their earnings but they are far better than ETI.....I am going to sell their shares and count it as one of those things and nobody close to me will never buy anything ETI............ Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by angelo82: 3:27pm On Dec 11, 2014 |
I understand your own point and i agree only that share buy back is good for some stocks without strong fundamentals.....FBN is a very principled establishment and when you buy FBN stock you should know is like you have bought fixed income securities because with price fluctuation you will still get returns.......FBN believe in what they are doing and they have shown it with their constant dividend payment......There is definitely no cause for alarm and they will never reconstruct their shares like that IBTC did.....Even with the Holdco formation my shares before Holdco are still same and thats the principle of FBN......I have lost some of my shares to Access due to reconstruction, also UBN and you must know I will never buy into those banks again...... Elai147: @angelo, share buyback is as beneficial to the company itself as it is to the shareholders. Companies may use market downturn as an opportunity to buy back some of thier shares which will create an incentive for investors to have more confidence in them. Whether the buyback is for manipulative reasons or not, at least, making such announcement shows the company believes the stock is cheap. How does buyback affect the principle of FBN shares? Maybe they are waiting for it to get to 50 kobo before they buy as suggested by @carpenter. But I think Nigerian companies are scared of buying back their shares, even if the stocks get to 0.50
@All, those that are moping up banking stocks for long term should consider imminent share reconstruction in this sector. Some share reconstructions can be very beneficial (e.g. Stanbic) while some can be detrimental to investment portfolio (e.g ETI). This is not to scare anyone but to create awareness / reminder.
Note: I will be buying one or more banking stocks. |

Only speculators will wish for a buy back of FBN share...........The reasons why bank stocks are falling are many and complicated and until those reasons ease, then the prices will rise.......Do you believe that PFA couldn't invest in Holdcos which affected few banks like FBN since most PFA will prefer to invest for long term especially in FBN shares but they have been barred by law.....The good thing is that a new law has been made which will allow PFA to invest in Holdcos like FBN from Feb. 2015,so expect the share price of FBN going up again......PFAs has a lot of money to invest..... http://businessdayonline.com/2014/12/first-bank-sees-upside-in-stock-price-on-pfa-buying/#.VInzeYs-BAYAlso check a link about various reasons why stocks are falling........ http://www.punchng.com/business/am-business/why-the-nigerian-stock-market-is-falling/carpenter: I own some FBN Shares also and am not selling, am buying more when I have more cash.
I do not think buying back is the way to go, let the stock find its level considering the present circumstances. If there is ever a chance of a takeover, they can go ahead and buy back.
If I were a company that sold shares at good prices over the years and the price falls and I know it may fall lower, I won't buy back till it has gotten to a level I think it is the lowest I will like to see. Why buy a billion shares @9 naira when I can buy it @5naira or even 50kobo like the fantasies some people have been having. And if the price rises all good for them also.
Cash is always king especially for the companies. |

Only traders will like FBN share buyback but majority holders of FBN shares are long term investors who seriously believe in them.....Why do you think I am buying more FBN shares than the rest....Because I believe in their stock and share buy back to them will affect principle of FBN as it can create manipulative loophole...Their stock is not doing bad but responding to market realities beyond the control of FBN and I guess the right thing to do is to weather the storm.....Share buy back does not fit their stock.....I am planning to mop up to 2 Million units and I can't try that with most stocks listed on NSE......... Elai147: But there are so many offers for the stock. They need not consider that if they really want to repurchase some of their shares. Investors are happy to hear an announcement of share buyback because it will add value to their holdings. |

From the little that I know about FBN shares, majority of the people holding their shares won't sell them and First Registrars knows that........They even complain in one of their articles...... Elai147: So why are they not announcing a share buy-back if they feel the stock is undervalued? Could it be that the coy itself is scared of the NSE? Perhaps, there are better things to do with funds than buying back their own shares. |

A lot of people especially some of us outside the country are going through the same problem....And because of not getting my dividend,I stopped my investment in stocks until recently due to the revolution of online stockbroking.....I have been able to get my dividend from UBA covering 8yrs and African Prudential acted swiftly and everything was done via email......My issue is now First Registrars as I have submitted all documents to them through my brother in Nigeria because they asked for hard copies....They confirmed the receipt of the documents and that they will pay but I am expecting that by now my account should be credited but nothing yet....Please do you know why the delay and when they will pay my outstanding dividend?....Thesame goes for ETI Dollars denominated share.... Elai147: Wema Registrars: after a very long period they finally replied my email but said my processed transfer form was never submitted to them by my broker and thus, they could not do anything. Africa prudential registrars and City Securities (Registrars) Limited have never replied my emails on E-dividend issues. Another one I can remember is the defunct Oceanic registrars.
As for First registrars, they frustrated me with their request for bankers confirmation. After all said and done we were still heading nowhere until God used a woman to help me. She listened to my story and immediately asked for my preferred bank for the E-dividend payment. After 2 days they credited with over N100,000 (in total) of unclaimed dividends. Meanwhile, I have been receiving some dividend warrants from them but didn't know I had unclaimed ones. First registrars could not explain why they sent some dividend warrants and held back some apart from their usual stories of wrong address (the same address where they have been sending me dividend warrants). Zenith registrars explained that they do not send dividend warrants that is more than a certain amount (about N50k or so) by post. But they never informed me of this until I asked and found out I had unclaimed dividends with them as well.
Before the stock market crash, I have sent E-dividend forms by registered post to all my registrars and not even one could register me for E-dividend payment. I did everything they requested including taking the forms to my bank for endorsement. In 2010, I repeated the process but this time I also sent emails (with e-dividend forms attached) notifying them that I had sent the hard copies of the forms to their offices by registered post. Still, nothing happened and I kept receiving dividend warrant by post. This year, I repeated the process for the third time after SEC warned registrars concerning the level of unclaimed dividends and mandated investors to embrace E-dividend payment. This time it worked and I was able to register with most registrars. There is a possibility that if not for SEC's intervention, some of us will still be having difficulty in registering. |

Amefrica: Hi guys, due to what's going on in our world at the moment, I think it's hightime we started loving each other. I had an encounter with racist people some weeks ago..
My flatmate (a Nigerian) and I went to the mall about some weeks ago to get our winter clothings and all, after we got all paid, we went to the bus-stand to wait for the bus - we got to the stand and met a Canadian man probably in his mid to late forties waiting for the bus too, I said "Hello, how you doing today? Nice weather, isn't it?" The man just bone face, he didn't even answer, my flatmate looked at me and we just acted like it didn't happen.
What he did next was something that irritated me. Immediately he packed his bags and went to the stand opposite us to meet a Canadian woman sitting down too, we didn't give 2 hoots until they started saying some things we couldn't hear, laughing uncontrollably and pointing fingers right at us. My mate got infuriated and wanted to confront them I calmed him down, that they were just ignorant. Few minutes later, the bus came they got on the bus, me and my mate intentionally sat next to them, lo and behold they stood up and went way back to the end of the bus. I was just shaking my head!
For real, racism has got to stop. You have different wardrobes of many colours, can't God have humans with different colours too?
Tho, I've met so many respectful, kind, nice people here. When I told my female bestfriend who is a Canadian too, she asked me to describe them, that she wants to kick their a'ss, I just told her not to worry. I really wish racism could end for good. We have to learn to live and tolerate each other, irrespective of race, religion etc.. You are at fault here.....Why do you have to say hi to strangers?.....Even if you are going to say hi to him,you need to watch out for the friendly signal.....What you experience is not racism......I wouldn't like a total stranger to greet me that way....Simple hi is welcome and not all that your....... |
