[quote author=kunleweb post=73897410]Its.common.in.some.parts of Ajah. Very very common[/quote If you say so. But it's strange to me still. |
I am surprised the water in your place is this dirty. I stay in Ajah and the water we pump is never dirty. The only problem we have is spirogyra in the water of which my dad invites a plumber once in a while to wash the tank. And we additionally use a filter. My advice is you get an expert to treat the water independent of your landlord and when your rent is almost due, you search for another apartment with clean water. Also, avoid using such water to wash your clothes or any other thing. Besides, the last time I saw water looking like this was when I was still a border in Badore. All wells except one (mirinda well) had this colour. We only used water from this well to flush toilets, wash toilets and do our morning duties. Besides, didn't you check for water neatness and availability before renting the apartment? |
I am unmarried but it breaks my heart to read post such as this. My mum is a church counselor and according to her when cases such as this spring up in the home separation should follow. It could be for a short while or a long while but separation is needed. Divorce is after all not an option biblically. Well, if you do decide to separate from your husband for a while then I advise you do a lot of thinking. If you chose not to separate since you are only bothered about the malice, I feel your husband should apologize first after which you can also do same for the accusations. After the apology, let your husband sign an undertaking that he won't ever batter you again. Last advice: Please don't get used to domestic violence. Get a job or empower yourself. You also need sound education on marriage. It may also help if you do join the feminist movement. Your husband is not Lord superior and you, slave inferior. Bye. |
Well, I feel none is more advantageous than the other. The life of a single person is no different from that of a married person. The only exception is when there are kids, I think. Although, being single come with less distractions and obligations being married also drives one to be successful. Although, this happens usually when you are married to someone who loves you. They support you and even help you in making life-changing decisions. |
This story is funny sha. 1. The truth is your brother should never have married her in the first place. 2. I feel there is more to this whole issue than just church. 3. Since there is an agreement between them before marriage, he should allow her go to her church peacefully but not with their child. But from what I read I doubt it's possible since he even visits his own family. 4. If the pastor of her church is God-fearing, I think you should pay him a visit. Maybe this will help change her mind. |
This post is hilarious sha.. It seems too good to be true. The husband seem like an adamant fellow. Why don't they just give him a name from the Bible or an English name. This name should be his first name. And they both are free to give him their own preferred tribal name as an addition. I doubt this will work though. Adamant people don't change perse they only become worse in marriage especially if they are men. |
Truth is you are not ready for marriage yet. I wonder why the lady in question is even blind to this fact. Marriage is strictly for companionship, not for bearing the title "married" or "father". Children are just gift or rather part of the blessings of marriage. I will now address the major part. I am sorry to tell you that you neither love nor respect that lady. I bet with your so called anger issue you have near hit your parents before. I bet that you did not do out of fear but out of respect. Think again. No be by force to marry ooo |
Marijuana! Still remains one of the most valuable plants in the world yet it remains a misunderstood plant. Truth is they have no reason illegalizing it in the first place. They deliberately misinformed the public about this plant whose health benefits is numerous. Marijuana has been used to treat various diseases as far back as the third millennium BC. Research studies have revealed that marijuana can - help treat glaucoma - promote bone health - help prevent cancer and help people cope better with chemotherapy treatments - help in epilepsy treatment - help prevent cancer - help in STI treatment - help fight drug addiction - improve lung function There are still more benefits... Unlike other drugs out there, one cannot overdose on marijuana except one takes up to 40,000 times their regular dose.... #Fact# Tobacco products which are being sold pose one of the greatest threat to the human health, but they failed to illegalize it. But why marijuana? |
My two cents Firstly, ask your three-year-daughter what happened? I guess three-year-olds can talk. Aside that, you should be your daughter' best friend. She should be giving you details of her day in school even without asking. Secondly, take your daughter to the hospital for examination. Thirdly, the teacher needs to be questioned seriously. If her pant is torn why isn't her school uniform torn also? Lastly, the next time you visit the school, go with your husband and probably a police officer (in mufti). And if the case doesn't turn out like it seems, abeg change school for your child. That environment isn't safe. |
Your situation is special. But I feel only you can end it. My 2 cent. Call a family meeting, allow no one to do the talking. Make everyone know what your parents have been doing to you. Afterward leave their house, marry your fiancee legally, and inform your parents. Sometimes taking action works. Nigerian parents are adamant and selfish. |
I like this story. The kind of story one reads in Christian tracts. I equally like this story because it for gullible people. Preach love instead of fear! Preach giving instead of guilt-tripping people to pay tithe, offering! Additionally, when you write next time, do it with the inspiration of the holy spirit. |

I have never been in support of ex-situ conservation. This is one of the reason. Many of these zoological gardens can't take care of the animals, I guess that's why the University of Ibadan Zoological garden is inarguably the best in Nigeria. |
Wrong move. If I were you, I probably won't even let them know I bought that land. |
shinebabe:My pleasure.. |
Men are under-appreciated because they are poor at playing politics. Lolz... Just kidding o On a more serious note, many men are under-appreciated in Nigeria because many are only good at bearing that title and nothing else. Visit many Nigerian homes, and you will.understand better. |
It's isn't compulsory to get married. And there is no written law that requires one to compulsorily have children in Marriage. However, if anyone decides to, get to know who that person really is and if you both think the same way about the certain issues. Also, you described marriage like women are selfish. It's not always true, marry an independent woman who is equally caring and loves you. And you just might have an almost perfect marriage. Note: I am not a fan of marriage o! |
Accommodation in Ajah environs is quite affordable, it depends on the area, the no of rooms and building or rather facilities. Electricity is also somewhat stable. At least, I am sure of the resettlement area, Badore, Ado and even many parts of ibeju lekki. Using meter pays though over normal bills. I am unsure which works best. But MTN and Airtel services is okay. 9mobile has been poor since last year. Am unsure of now that I am in school. Major roads are good but inner roads usually are not so good except for estates. They usually are not motorable during the rainy season sometimes. There are a lot of good schools to chose from though pricey. There is equally a lot of family-friendly neighborhood to choose from. My street is quiet and noise free except at night sometimes. |

Stephaustin:Thank you Stephaustin |
So I am less busy right now and decided to drop this. I am a lady and I have mixed with different ladies in the past and present. But I have always wondered why can't they do this or that. Well, I must confess my upbringing is quite different from theirs and boarding school didn't help matters too. But, there are still some skills I picked along the way independent of my upbringing. Albeit, here is my personal list of things I believe every lady should know how to do. 1. Stitch: Every lady I believe should be able to fix a torn cloth or a button. I mean a really neat stitch. It will cost you nothing to learn how to stitch better but it comes with a lot of benefits once you get it right. Imagine the outfit you plan wearing out has a missing button or your child's school uniform need a small stitch. That will be you saving the day in no time. 2. Maintain Whites: Hmmm, it's no longer news many ladies can't maintain whites be it cloth or even home tiles. If you got it in white, then white it should remain. Many ladies will shy away from getting white undergarment. Why? It will become brown before a second wear. That's not too good 3. Lay a Bed: I guess taking a course relating to hospitality helped me here. I learned to make beds swiftly while ensuring they look beautiful or better put, enticing afterward. It's not so important, but I still feel every lady should know how to lay a bed. It cost you nothing. 4. Set a Table: Setting a table is not so hard, you could learn how to online. That skill can come handy sometimes, you never can say when. But, imagine having an important guest in your home and after preparing a delicious meal, you have on the table the wrong utensils and tableware. My lecturer will say, presentation matters a lot. 5. Match Colours: It is believed ladies generally are good with colors and it does help when we have to decorate our own home or space. Also, for dressing, if you can't match colors properly you definitely will be looking all tacky and unattractive. Orange lipstick, red shoe, green bag, yellow top and a blue skirt. Does it get any better? Such could easily pass for a man but not a lady. 6. Give First Aid Treatment: First aid and disaster management skill is a must for all ladies. My mum treated the majority of my wounds while growing up, we had a standby first aid box to take care of all situations. And I have grown to do same for myself and others around. It's essential. Take a course on first aid or better still join the Nigerian Red Cross. Thank me later. 7. Improvise: Be it a missing ingredient for a meal or an object for a task, I believe all ladies should be able to improvise. Take time, think and come up with something. You cannot always have all at your disposal, however, your ability to improvise will save you time. 8. Manage: Many ladies waste a lot. I am equally guilty of this. I didn't realize how much I waste until I started catering for guest as tests in hospitality management course. The little I feel cannot amount to anything is like a meal for my guest. Waoh, little drops of water make a mighty ocean. Be it food or anything, try to avoid waste at all cost. Even paper, plastics, clothes, money. According to my lecturer, ladies are home managers. So let's act it. 9. Plan a Party: Be it a small party or a large one, I believe ladies should be able to do that. From inviting your guest to planning the menu, to welcoming them and all...you should be able to do day. You one day will have to, your experience will ensure its flawless. 10. Wash Toilet: I don't have much to say here o. But if you are one of those ladies who shy away from washing toilet. You definitely will be served with embarrassment sooner than you think. Imagine a toilet your guest cannot use?? That's all... There is still so much i want to mention but I hate to type for too long. You can add yours too... |

I recently gave a seminar presentation on Plastic pollution. I was shocked by what I discovered while researching prior to the presentation. Plastics are silent killers. Not only do they affect all aspect of the environment including our wild flora and fauna, they equally affect humans, I mean you and I. Unfortunately, we use plastics every day. I mean we wear plastics as clothes, we use them to eat and even for cooking and many more. Invariably, plastics cannot totally be an avoided. But, I believe it will do you a lot more good to avoid them as much as you can. It's better to be safe than sorry. Plastics contain some poisonous chemicals or better put plasticizers such as BPA, Phthalates, polyvinyl chloride to ensure their durability. But in the long run, while you use these plastics, they begin to leech these chemicals which get into our body and begins to affect our health. Without further ado, Let's find out the ways plastics may affect our health. 1. Miscarriages: According to some studies, Bisphenol A, a toxin in plastics have been linked to causing recurrent miscarriages. Bisphenol A is a known endocrine disruptor which could interfere with fetal conception, growth, and development. It also affects brain development of a baby, if its does escape miscarriage. 2.Risk of Cancer: High exposure to Bisphenol A and phthalates have been linked to increased risk of breast cancer and prostate cancer in humans. Studies have shown that they can cause cancer cells to develop when they begin to disrupt the body hormonal balance. 3. Metabolic Disorder: Certain Chemicals in plastics can alter the process of metabolism in the body. If its left untreated it could lead to stroke, coronary heart diseases and other related diseases. 4. Diabetes: According to some studies, Bisphenol A reduces insulin sensitivity in the body by suppressing adiponectin a key hormone for this function in the body. This could lead to type 2 diabetes and other related diseases. 5. Obesity: Metabolic disorder and diabetes can lead to obesity as insulin sensitivity has been reduced and the body process of metabolism has been greatly affected by the presence of Bisphenol A. It could also.make it difficult to lose weight or maintain a normal BMI. 6. Sterilty: According to studies, exposure to the chemicals in plastics could lead to infertility in both men and women. Exposure to BPA and phthalates especially causes hormonal disruption in the body making it difficult to conceive. Altogether, it is better to avoid plastics especially PET bottles and polyethylene. Avoid using plastics to store food in the refrigerator or hot food in your food flask. Replace all your plastics with metals and avoid disposables as often as you can. However to be really safe, know plastics by numbers and avoid number 1, 3, 6 and 7. They are your poisonous plastics. Stay healthy, happy and strong!
