Begin to read bible. Begin with the book of John. Pray always. Fast regularly (you can begin with once in a week). Look for a bible believing church where they teach repentance, holiness, salvation and fellowship with them. Pray before you go. Always run away from SINS.

Why The End-time Church Lacks Power

48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.


Introduction
Once, I heard a message preached by one of the leaders of the Church in Nigeria. It was about two young Muslim men that left their Islamic home-town to come to the city of Lagos to look for jobs. While they were in Lagos, the two of them heard the gospel, gave their lives to Jesus Christ and became converted to Christianity.

Sometimes after their conversions, these two ‘young’ Christians decided, each person on his own, that he will take the gospel back to their home town and preach to their Muslim brothers and communities. That is a good thing to do you may say. The first evangelist got to their home town, rented the biggest town hall, and invited his Muslim relatives to come and hear the gospel. They honoured his invitation.

He then held the Bible in one hand and the Quran in the other hand. He was reading the two books side by side. He wanted to use the Bible to disprove the Quran. The Muslims became annoyed and the whole process generated a very heated argument and the man would have been lynched but for the help of the policemen.

On a different occasion, the second evangelist went to the same town to evangelize and rented the same town-hall as the first evangelist. Also, he invited the whole Muslim community to come and hear the gospel and they honoured his invitation. The man preached a simple salvation message. He witnessed to them about the power of Jesus and assured them that the power will be demonstrated if he prayed with them. After the message, the man prayed with them. As he was about to finish his prayer a person that was born deaf and dumb began to hear and to speak. The boy that received healing was the son of the Muslim leader of that community. The whole town-hall became agog. Many people gave their lives to Jesus, including the father of the boy that received healing. Gospel became established in that community.

Can you spot the difference between these two evangelists? The first one was trying to use comparative argument to win Muslims to Christ while the second one just demonstrated signs and wonders by the power of Holy Ghost. The only reason why the first attempt was a colossal failure and the second one a huge success was the amount of Power of God demonstrated by each evangelists.

The end-time church is not demonstrating the power of God, again. It is fast becoming powerless and ridiculed like the first evangelist mentioned above. It is now resulting to all manners of gimmick and pranks not to win souls, this time around, but just to survive. It is a gross worrisome situation; a church that the greatest power in the history of the earth is reserved for, has now turned out to become a stepping to for the enemy. The church that is supposed to win the world for Christ through sheer display of power has now been won to the world by the reason of her powerlessness.

How can this trend be reversed before the rapture? This is what we want to address in this teaching. The church can still wrought signs and wonders, again, and win many people to Christ through the power of God before rapture.


The Significance of Power in Christian Race
The journey of salvation is absolutely a journey that requires power. It is a journey that cannot be run without the power of God. Every stage of the Christian race from the beginning to the end requires power.

The Beginning Stage of the Christian race is conceived in power. John 1:12 says
John 1:12
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

The scripture above makes us to know that once a man comes to Jesus Christ and receives Him as Lord and Saviour, the Lord will deposit into such a person an initial amount of power to kick-start the journey of salvation. This is the basic amount of power and it is the power to become the sons of God. It is the power required to repent from sins and turn to God. This is the beginning of the Christian race and it is in power.

The Middle Stage of The Christian Race is in Power
The distance between when a believer receives Christ as his Lord and Saviour, that is the beginning of his Christian race, and the time the believer ends his Christians journey at the feet of the Lord in heaven is the middle of his journey. This middle of the Christian race also requires power. The Lord tells us in Luke 10:19

19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

This is in furtherance of power that is given to the believer at the beginning stage of his journey when he receives the Lord as Saviour. He now needs power to overcome the serpents and scorpions he must encounter on his Christian journey.

The End of the Christian Race Requires Power
A Christian journey ends when he dies and make heaven or when rapture takes place and he is caught up to be with the Lord. This event is also done with power. The rapture- the end of a Christian race, requires a huge power of God. Mathew 24:30 tells us that the Lord, Jesus Christ, will come to rapture us with power and glory. That is the power and glory that will draw us to meet with Him in the clouds.

30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.


Why the End-time Church Should Carry The Greatest Power
In a relay race, the best runner is always reserved for the last leg of the race. Why? The reason for reserving the best runner for the last lap of the race is because the team cannot afford to make any mistake and lose the race. Any mistakes made by those who have run the earlier race may be corrected by the athlete running the last leg and still win the race for the team. This is the same thing for the Christian race or best still, the dispensation of the church.

God has reserved the greatest power for the last-days church and Christians because once the rapture happens all the powers that God can give to believers to run the race will not be useful anymore.

The end-time is a specially dangerous time foe believers for so many reasons. The scripture calls it a perilous time. It is a time that demons will invade the earth, a time that wickedness will rise up to God in heaven, a time of great persecution for the church, a time of extreme deceptions and many more. To survive all the menacing threats against him, a believer needs all the power of the Holy Ghost that he can get.
The followings are some of the reasons why the end-time church should carry the greatest power.

-1. The End-time is a Time of Great Power Display.
How will this happen? Consider the following points

-a. God will display great powers. Revelation 16:9.

9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

-b. God will give power unto His two witnesses. Revelation 11:3, 6
Revelation 11:3, 6
3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.

-c. The Angels of God will exercise so much power. Revelation 14:18, 18:1

18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.

Revelation 18:1
1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.

-d.The dragon (satan) will give power to the beast (the antichrist). Revelation 13:4

4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

-e. The beast (the antichrist) will be given power over all kindreds. Revelation 13:7

7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

-f. The false prophet will exercise so much power. Revelation 13:12-15

12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

-g. The rider of the red horse will exercise so much power. Revelation 6:4

4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

-h. Death and Hell will exercise so much power. Revelation 6:8
Revelation 6:8
8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.


- 2. The Army of The Lord will operate at the End-time.
Joel 2:11
11 And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?

The day of the Lord is the day of rapture. The Lord has reserved His army for the end-time. The Lord has reserved a very great an unusual power for His last days army. Joel 2:1-11 highlighted some of the rare power they will be exercising. Some of them include the followings.

-1. They will devour like fire.

-2. There has not been people like them before.

-3. They are swift like horses.

-4. No weapon can hurt them.

-5. No hindrance can stop.

-6. They have many more great powers. Please, read Joel 2:1-11 for the rest.

This great Army of the Lord is going to be picked from the end-time church. This is, yet, another reason why this church should carry the greatest power.


-3. God will send Elijah at the End-time to Prepare the Way For Christ Return.
Malachi 4:5-6
5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

Again, like I said earlier, the day of the Lord is the day of rapture. God will send Elijah, who is perhaps the most dreadful prophet of God to prepare the church for rapture. This is another reason why the end-time church should carry the greatest power.


-4. The Great Outpouring of the Holy Ghost is Reserved for the End-time.
Joel 2:28-30
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.


-5. Greatest deployment of Angels will take place at the end-time.
The end-time is so important to God-The Father, that He will be deploying everything for that purpose. As HE is pouring out His Spirit upon all flesh, He will also be sending innumerable company of angels on assignments of end-time. One of such cases is seen in Revelation 14:6-7 where an Angel was sent to come and preach the Gospel to the people of the world.

6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

The Gospel that the Angel will go about preaching is the fear and judgment of God which is similar to what the true end-time preachers should preach.

The greatest reference and mentioning of angels in the bible is in the book of revelation. This is another reason why the end-time church should carry the greatest power.


-6. The Seven Spirits of the Lord will be poured out.
Revelation 5:6
6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are t[u]he seven Spirits[/u] of God sent forth into all the earth.


-7. The Two Witnesses of the Lord will operate at the End-time.
Revelation 11:3-6
3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.

5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.

6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.

Some of the great powers of these two prophets of God that will minister at the end-time are underlined above.


-8. Wickedness shall become unparalleled.
The wickedness of the end-time shall become very great in the end-time. The Church of Christ needs a greater power to confront them.


-9. The Church Needs Power to overcome the ‘Signs and Wonders’ of the False Prophets.
Mathew 24:24
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Most of the end-time deceptions are aimed at making the bride of Christ to fall. The church/bride of Christ needs the great power of the Holy Ghost to overcome such deceptions.


-10. The church has complete bible, apostolic/prophetic bible personalities, and church-ages personalities to learn from.
All the bible personalities we talk about, today, did not have the complete bible in their time. Some of them did not have any written documentation of the Word of God.

Today, we talk about Noah, Abraham, Moses, Elijah, Daniel, Jeremiah, Isaiah, John the Baptist, Paul, John, Peter and the rest of the Apostles but none of them read the complete bible. But we have the complete bible translated in most languages of the world. This should be a reason why we should be better than them. In addition, we have many contemporary church age bible personalities to also learn from.
These are some of the reasons why the end-time church should have the greatest power; a level of power that had never been displayed by any church generation prior to this end-time church. However, and sadly too, this end-time church has become the weakest and the most-powerless church of all church generations. But, why is this so? We will treat this in the second part of this teaching.

I get your point, if you teach a believers how to live a holy life, they have no fear of the rapture. If for instance, I am born again, I have nothing to fear about rapture because immediately it blows. Am off the earth

my point is, many folks don't know how to control their desires for sin by the word. If you are offering a rapture message to them every time. They have heard it and they know it very well, but they don't know how to go about keeping their salvation.

I also get your point very well. but consider this, there is motivation and essence for everything. You cannot send your child to school without making him understand the essence why he needs to go to school in the first place. Now he is in school, you cannot be satisfied with him just going to school. You have to motivate him to study very hard and pass the examination and gain admission to the university and get a good job.

That is the essence and the motivation. the same goes with this faith. You become a Christian so that you can make heaven either by death or by rapture. And now that rapture is about to take place, will you not keep sounding it in the ears of believers. Have you watched a football match before and a team is leading the other and the time is almost up. the coach will not sit down anymore. he will stand up and begin to sensitize his players not to be complacent and concede a goal because time is almost up?

Brother! the issue of rapture is very important to God! Why?
1. the whole book of joel is about rapture
2. the whole book of revelation is about rapture
3. half of the book of daniel is about rapture
4. Jesus took a whole chapter in the book of mathew to talk about it
5. it is the issue most prophesied about in the bible
6. all the prophets of old, including Enoch, prophecies about it.
7. After rapture, we cannot preach holiness again, the message will change
8. The message after rapture will not be that you should receive Jesus but that you should not take the mark.

Having said all this, I must agree with you that holiness should be the basis of our teachings but with special focus on the end-time because the end-time has its peculiarity. For instance, do you know you can live a holy life and still be deceived if you failed to WATCH? And if you are deceived what will be the result?

this is what I preach. And that is my submission.

Most messages on rapture bring fear this days, can you tell why,

I'm not against rapture messages, but I would prefer someone telling me how or what I can do to flee the wroth to come, like, the place of believers authority, my authority over the devil and how to put an end to sin in the life of a sinner, the Bible said, sin shall have no dominion over us, new creation realities and believers authority would make rapture messages good, but an average man knows he's going to hell, but there is a member inside him, causing him to act against his will.

If we can add that to our sermons, more souls will be won.

From my observation, many prefer to enjoy life on earth, knowing if they end in hell, to them, they deserve it

Okay brother. The end-time like its name sounds is the time when everything shall come to the end. I want to assume the name on its own is not fantastic. Why do you think many believers and many pastors and general overseer cannot read the book of revelation? the content is scary.

The end-time is scary and we cannot understand to what extent or degree but as scary as it will be, it is better to hear about it and make effort to escape. Jesus Himself admonished us in Luke 21:36 to pray to escape what is coming.

36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

If what is coming is pleasant, Jesus will not tell us to pray to escape.

Daniel is one of the most courageous prophets of God. He was not afraid of lion. But when God showed him some of the visions of end-time, he fainted and became sick after gaining consciousness.

I used to be very thick-skinned; deep-rooted in idolatery and occultism, until God showed me a vision of end-time and what I saw broke me down that I wept from the dream to consciousness and continued weeping still. Without anybody begging me to repent I repented immediately and gave my life to Jesus in the middle of the night. Why did I have to do this? I wanted to escape what God showed to me. Later that I started reading the bible, I found that everything I saw in a vision is in the bible the way I saw it.

It will have been better to just teach people how to run from sin without going into the details of scariness of the end-time but I tell you that this will not work. God knows it will not work like that and I will tell you the reasons.

1. God give us signs and wonders so that people can believe the Gospel
John 4:48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

With all the signs and wonders, many people still refuse to believe the Gospel, how much more if there is no signs and wonders to back up the gospel.

So if we just teach people how to live a holy life, they will not know
1. what lies ahead them if they missed the rapture, which of course, satan did not want anybody to know.
2. how close we are to rapture.
3. that rapture requires special preparation and focus.
4. how to handle the perilousness of the end-time
5. and many more.

Npw, because many pastors and general overseers have become mute about warning people the rapture, God is raising up new set up of to go and do the work. One may then wonder less why the Word of God says the last shall be the first and the first shall be the last.
