ceometromedia:
The Federal Nigeria Society for the Blind, a non-profit organisation established for the rehabilitation and training of adults and adolescents living with vision impairment in Nigeria held an event to raise fund and celebrate the blind on 28 May, 2016 at the Muson Centre, Lagos.

This year's event tagged "Masked May Ball" had activities like fashion show by Bumi Deju, a celebrity auction featuring Sola Sobowale, Fathia Balogun and Stephanie Okereke-Linus.
Where are the maskED celebrities/participants?
Great charity initiative. I thought they will wear masks to feel, if only for a while, how BLIND people feel.
That would have been impressive.

So far, Ambode has been a nice surprise compared to his flower-planting, road-painting loquacious smooth operator predecessor, Barawo Rogue Fashole, BRF.

He however needs to focus squarely on education for ALL children in Lagos. That is the sine qua non basis for any sustainable development.
There are no two ways. No alternative to that.

Realdeals:
what President Buhari and his team promised us before last elections is CHANGE! Change means clear departure from the normal. It is a definite step from away from the usual. The usual before March 28th, 2015 election was impunity, poor leadership and directionless nation.
Change is an act or process through which something becomes different. We all agreed our nation has been on a wrong direction for long. From military era to the immediate past government, Nigeria was enmeshed in corruption. Everyone, including the deaf, heard clearly Buhari’s promise of change. In my view, president Buhari has kept faith with this promise in the last one year. Pains and some hardship tag along this change, but we as a people must learn to defer pleasure with little pains today.
His stands on corruption fight, which we all taunt as our major enemy leaves no one in doubt. What I feel the concerns of Nigeria enemies are the tenacity and brutality on how the corruption war is being fought.
He is fighting corruption while his minister for PROPAGANDA is receiving N13,000,000 (thirteen million) from each & every agency under his ministry for his trip to China?
Is that how to fight corruption or he is just DECEIVING his brain-dead zombies with appropriate noise huh
Sorry, I and other wailers REFUSE to be deceived.

If we can stop religious sentiment, tribalism and support Buhari's government i'm sure what will be recovered from jonathan and his allies will be more than enough to overcome the current challenges. Nigerians be wiser please.
Must one be:

- a dullard
- a liar
- a tribal bigot

in other to elect someone with all those features as our president and continue to support him despite his bumbling and fumbling governance that has led us from PROSPERITY to penury in just one year.
That is a question oh and anyone is free to answer!
The facts about our country that Buhari admitted is fantastically corrupt after almost one year of his FIGHTING corruption are shown below for reasonable people to reflect upon.

Unless you are suggesting we start mobbing the builders of any building that falls down or any contractor that short changes the society. If so, I get your point
I am suggesting that we stop CELEBRATING/ASSOCIATING WITH corrupt people who are all in our midst in addition to from stopping our OWN corrupt practices- big or small.

What, for goodness' sake is wrong with this country. Belittling the ruling party is such a reprehensible act by the PDP. In developed countries, the opposition understand the fact that they have no choice but to support the party in power. Why can't we copy the same? The country is bigger than any political party. Is this what PDP will continue to do till 2019? Putting the reigning party down? Praying and hoping things go wrong so they can gain points? Is it worth it? Why is Africa this backward & blind? It's so pathetic, i tell you. Why can't we all come together and support whoever is in power? I'm yet to see anything as complicated as Nigerian politics. Africa is such a huge mess. Everyone is just out for their own selfish motives. Where do we go from here?

AjanleKoko:
LOL.
I admire the idealism and patriotism and whatnot. But not actually going to engage you on that.
I'd rather educate you about aviation procedures, which I know a bit about. This particular incident I know about intimately.

1. There is an Auxilliary Power Unit (APU) in the tail of every aircraft, which powers AC, lighting, instruments, and other avionics, while the aircraft is not in service.

2. When they start loading people and goods, they plug in a Ground Power Unit (GPU) which provides power to light above.

3. They only disconnect GPU and start engines when they are ready to be towed away from the gate. In fact, they don't even start engines until the plane is ready to move in forward direction. Planes can't reverse.

In this particular episode, there were some ground-related issues, as well as delayed clearance for takeoff (documentation issues). What you do normally in that case is, you keep the GPU plugged in so AC can keep working. On this flight, they took the GPU away and switched off AC for 2 hours plus, because the APU would drain if you use airconditioning.

So the blowout you witnessed was after 120+ minutes of waiting. I take many many flights, and delays are not uncommon from MMA, prior to take off. Even at Heathrow sef, BA is notorious for keeping Nigerians waiting. I'm yet to see a BA London-Lagos flight that takes off on time. But to decide to bake people for two hourshuh Haba mallam.
Thank you for the education.
However, I don't think you said anything different from what I said as I acknowledged that the situation was BAD and the reaction of the passenger made it worse as they would have generated more heat with all the hassles instead of identifying a (group) of spokespersons to talk with the airline staff to find a solution.
I also said the time on board the plane should have been minimised to reduce the inconvenience of the heat as they were probably looking to save fuel/energy costs.
All in all, we are not far from each other.
Cheers.
