Before Ogun or some other lame god kills Luggard who has been dead for decades, should they not first kill your senator and representative for not lobbying others to amend the constitution appropriately
Image123: And they both ended up being clueless. Stop crying over spilt milk. GEJ was the worst thing to happen to Nigeria. He was so bad that Buhari won.
Are you crying over spilled milk when you read Bible stories over and over again
obembet: Neymar is also included in the top 10, with superstar performers from the NBA, NFL, tennis and boxing figuring prominently
Lionel Messi may have taken a pay cut when leaving Barcelona as a free agent to link up with Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021, but his superstar appeal has ensured that he takes the No.1 spot on Forbes’ run down of the highest-paid athletes on the planet.
Endorsements away from the pitch, alongside a lucrative deal at Parc des Princes, have allowed the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner to pip NBA legend LeBron James to first place on a notable chart that also includes Manchester United frontman Cristiano Ronaldo and PSG forward Neymar.
Iconic figures from the worlds of basketball, NFL, tennis and boxing complete the top 10, with there some serious marketing appeal on show in a run down of those that continue to pull in the biggest pay cheques.
1. Lionel Messi | $130m/£107m
The mercurial Argentine is working on a hefty salary at PSG, but those earnings are dwarfed by the commercial partnerships he enjoys away from the pitch. Messi boasts an endorsement portfolio that includes deals with Adidas, Budweiser and PepsiCo, while a multi-year partnership with Socios is worth $20 million (£16m) to the South American.
2. LeBron James | $121.2m/£99m
The Los Angeles Lakers forward is now a movie star, having appeared in Space Jam: A New Legacy, and boasts a talk show, ‘The Shop’, that has moved from HBO to YouTube. He sold a minority stake in production company SpringHill in October 2021 for about $725m (£594m). James announced a deal with Crypto.com in January and has also invested in home gym company Tonal and sports tech startup StatusPRO.
3. Cristiano Ronaldo | $115m/£94m
The Portuguese is well established as an all-time great in football circles and remains in eternal competition with fellow multiple Ballon d’Or winner Messi. A big-money contract was signed when returning to Manchester United in 2021, but much of Ronaldo’s earning power comes from social media – where he boasts 690 million combined followers. That allows him to bring in revenue from sponsors Nike, Herbalife and Clear shampoo. He is also an investor in Tatel restaurants and is the face of an upcoming soccer community app called ZujuGP.
Is CR the number 3 behind Messi and LeBron, or he is in the top 3 with two unknown/undeclared people ahead of him3
That is Oshiomole's promise as the chairman of the Assembly of Past Criminals, APC. Don't get it twisted.
sharpden: The All Progressive Congress (APC) has said once those who looted the nation’s treasury join its fold, all their sins will be forgiven.
The national chairman of the ruling party, Adams Oshiomhole, stated this on Thursday at the presidential campaign rally held in Benin, the Edo State capital.
Mr Oshiomhole made the comments while receiving decampees from the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).
“I’m told that there are a lot of senior people from PDP who have decided to join forces with President Buhari to take the broom to sweep away PDP to continue to ensure that APC continues to preside over Nigeria,” he was quoted by TheCable to have said.
“It includes my own brother and friend Henry Duke, he is the former organising secretary of PDP. We also have former vice chairman PDP and leader of PDP Edo North, in fact, once you join APC, all your sins are forgiven,” the top APC official said.
Oshiomhole urged Nigerians to return President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term in office.
In the same way that ThiefNuibu's General Buhari is a military expert to finish off terrorists and criminals, unlike bloody civilian & clueless Jonathan, until he was allowed into office in 2015.
Emergingnation: Flashback: How Bola Tinubu spoke highly of Buhari in 2015, named PDP ‘Poverty Development Party
National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu had during the presidential campaign in 2015, referred to President Muhammadu Buhari as the only solution for the security and economic challenges facing Nigeria.
During a mega presidential rally, the former governor of Lagos State recalled how some powerful nations in the world returned to army generals when they were challenged, saying “Major General Buhari would revive Nigeria’s economy”.
He named the current opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP as the “Poverty Development Party saying they had nothing to offer.
His words at the time were; “Every nation has a period of their own challenges, when America was challenged, they turned to one great man, their ex-military general, General Eisenhower. When the French were challenged, they turned to their general, Charles de Gaulle.
“When Britain was challenged, they turned to their general. Today, Nigeria is economically and physically challenged so we turn to General Muhammadu Buhari. He is the right man for the job. If you talk about military experience, he has it abundantly, he has courage, simplicity, he has it abundantly.
“If you talk about great determination, a combination of vision and ability to perform, honesty and integrity, he has it abundantly.
“I laugh when the incapable government, ‘Poverty Development Party’ PDP were talking. They have nothing again to say, they now want to question the qualifications of General Buhari and look for his certificate”.
Following the manifestos in 2015 which projected the APC presidential candidate as a ‘saviour’, Buhari defeated the then incumbent president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan with Nigerians expecting a total change in security and economy.
DAILY POST recalls that the Gross Domestic Product, GDP figure in 2015 was $492,437 million which made Nigeria the number 24 in the ranking of GDP of the 196 countries in the world according to the world bank.
Following the current outcry from Nigerians over the hike in prices of commodities, the cost of living in Nigeria prior to the 2015 general elections can be referred to as moderate as a dollar was exchanged for ₦187.952 contrary to the current ₦412.4 to a dollar.
Expectations of the electorates hit the rock when insecurity began to deteriorate despite the campaign promises. It can be recalled that banditry was very unpopular prior to the emergence of the current government.
Also, the activities of Fulani herdsmen which has resorted to killings across the country was at its minimal.
Recall that the Nigerian National Bureau of Statistics said in 2020 that 40% or 83 million Nigerians live in poverty. Although Nigeria’s poverty profile for 2021 has not yet been released, it is estimated that the number of poor people will increase to 90 million, or 45% of the population, in 2022.
The country is currently facing its worst security crisis following the havoc been wreaked across the country by terrorist groups, bandits, herdsmen and other criminal elements.
envoymedia: Adamu Garba Apologizes To Nigerian Youths After Pulling Down APC Flag
2023 Presidential hopeful, Adamu Garba, apologized to Nigerian youths for pulling down the APC party’s flag in his office following his withdrawal of membership from the party, IGBERETV reports.
Adamu Garba who was seeking for the presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC declared his withdrawal from the party on Wednesday stating that he could no longer tolerate the path APC is taking.
The politician and tech expert who lamented the price tag on the party’s presidential forms among others said APC has shown in the last few days that it is more concerned about money than settling for competency.
He said he could no longer accept anything that could truncate the country’s democracy and freedom, hence the decision to leave APC.
The presidential aspirant in a thread of tweets on Thursday morning apologized to Nigerian youths for his previous actions that might have hurt them.
Garba assured the public that he is now a fully reformed, baptized person, adding that he has realized some of his mistakes and is ready to move along with the youths to chat a new course for the future of Nigeria, Naija News reports.
Will Obasanjo ever apologise for tearing PDP membership card after ruining the country for 8 years on its platform
Slurity: Hahaha, this is the most daft thinking I have ever seen in recent years. Remove Gej from your equation because he can not even see 4th position in APC primary election. It appears that you don't get the manipulation they did on Gej. Gej accepting to run under APC is the final prove that Jonathan is actually a Dullard when it comes to political calculations.
Bodmum: putin =coward. The basterds sons of putin should go and die.
Putin is not a coward. He is an over ambitious strongman who outmanoeuvred himself, just as Babangida did three decades ago and he was obliged to step aside.
yanabasee: Originally, Putin is to be blame for all of this.... He let his ego and pride to guide him all along....
Some governors have resigned and many of his generals are buried...Even with all his nukes... he's handicapped...
He wanted to escalate this war into a full blown WIII but God made him useless...
Na so o. God blessed the greater hours of research work, intelligence gathering and sharing, superior weapons etc of the Western allies. Verily, verily I repeat unto you the words of James:
whizzler: Haba your words are harsh. You need to understand what the prof is saying. He is emphasizing the micro economic effects of the strike. You are jumping to the macro economics. People have small businesses in schools and with the continued strike they are out of business. Abi where do you think those photocopiers, stationery sellers, boutiques, provision shops etc in students dominated areas will now be making their trade.
Let him and his fellow thinkers continue on their micro level and make enough money from adequate jobs to pay off our debts and keep Bubu’s lazy youths busy to improve security and reduce population growth. Let the micro thinkers continue to dominate public discussion. God is in control, because God is not in control of Britain and America where they think and work on the macro and micro, not so?
edogu: Prof. Muhammad Waziri of Geography Dept. University of Maiduguri wrote:
If 20,000 students make a trip to the campus by public transport with an average of N200 daily, that's N4m. If 20,000 students eat lunch at school at N200 daily, that's another N4m. If 20,000 students photocopy 20 pages of document at N10 each daily, that's another N4m
By this, just 20,000 students inject N12m daily to the local economy. During 3 months of strike, N1.08bn is lost by transporters, food vendors, business centres.etc. Expand this to the actual number of students in the Universities in the country.
BUT WHO CARES?
Parochial, low level thinking by a whole professor on food and small businesses. How do we get to create outstanding services, manufactured goods to pay off the Chinese and other loans, with gutter level thoughts like this?
Newdawn30: The rate of fake accounts on social media is alerming. All form of yahoo is bad but, it's really low when you still try to scam your country men and women .
Below is my catch with one that didn't realise his location was on and I could since the mileage between us, but, yet she insisted she was in the United States
Did you finally forgive and marry the olosho of the 2020 thread below
Newdawn30: Everything was fine BTW us till late last year when she started changing. Our sex life was great till late last year, whenever I make a move to touch her she always say she was tired or not in the mood. It was strange cos she has a large appetite for sex. Then every weekend she hardly spend time with me, it either she had to for her a week training or she had to go home to see her parents which was odd . Even when I told her to stay she refused, it was always one excuse or the other. Then we began having fights even over the silliest things. I was away for a month and I came back early because of the lowdown. I decided to check her message, that's how I learnt that she had been having affairs with other men(3) Including married man she introduced to me as a friend. Same girl that hated ladies that sleep with married men was doing same. I feel so broken cos I never expected such a thing From her . We are supposed to get married by 3rd quarter this year... I still have feelings for her cos she has been begging and saying she regrets her action begging me not to tell her mom. Her mom is the only person I can trust to knock some sense into her. I'm scared that if I forgive her she might do it again. Nairalanders I need your advice. I had built my world around her
OgunkeelAllMod: ok I understand .. will get around I'm already doing my campaign small small on Abuja street..I was in Gudu market today with poster.people just dey look me like I no get work.. nigerians ehn!!

AngelicBeing: America got the back of her citizens and look for the welfare / the best in her citizens to realize their potentials both in and outside the US but Nigeria muzzles and kill the destiny / potentials of her citizens, Americans are ready to die for their country anyday because of what the US has done for her citizens but Nigeria only offers bokoharam, insecurity, injustice, kidnapping, ritualism, ethnicity, bigotry, tribalism terrorism, senseless killings etc daily to Nigerians
Please how is America, the country different from the people, Americans? In the same way, how is Nigeria different from Nigerians
stankezzy: don't attribute failure to prayers , USA is d biggest charismatic and Pentecostal sponsors in d whole world ,d head of Catholics are in Italy and d head of Anglican Britain , Italians are very religious yet successful, religion have nothing to do with foolishness , India have over 33m different gods they worship yet they do extremely well both economically and science wise .our problem is ethnicity , just look at presidential candidates, there are some that are very old and sick yet if nothing is done , their people will be supporting him and we all know what will become of d country, so that is Nigerian problems
Do we spend as much time on going to specific places to worship the Omnipresent God as these other people do, instead of working on their community and self
ChristineC: what about the taxes collected from some? anything to show for it?
How can there be anything to show for it, when the taxpayers are not concerned enough to engage adequately in the political, democratic and governance processes?
OgunkeelAllMod: I'm ready for igbo presidency..show me or tell me what to do .I'm based in fct..all hands must be on deck ..we can't have Tinubu as president o.not possible
Boss, if you are interested in doing the needful work, you will find out around your network and stealthily get involved. All the best
AngelicBeing: Those in the US are given the platform / enabling environment to maximize their potentials but those in Nigeria are not due to several factors like lecturers strike, University shut down etc
My point, as you have probably noticed all these while, is that the platform/enabling environment there is made by all the 300 million Americans while we like to play away and pray for God to fix us. Won't happen because it can't happen. What a man sows is what he reaps.
lightnlife: To reduce the waiting time, the immigration assistant had to come to the long queue area to announce/check if there are holders of the aforementioned countries' passport, so they can be moved to the "special/fast" side...No one signified. She later to ask everyone with a BRP to go over to the fast lane.
Please what does BRP mean? Thanks.
Oh! Trolleys were free in Heathrow, UK. But they're often paid for in Lagos, Nigeria. How so?
Maybe because most of us here don't pay all our taxes unlike oyinbos
Cashsteady: And so what ?? Is NIGERIA not a third world country ?and her NIGERIANS not third world people? Lot of NIGERIANS travels abroad and start demanding the same right with the citizens of those countries and cry racism when the citizens of those countries tell them fact..
Nigerians are known for bad reputation anywhere they travel to they still carry their third world mentality enter Europe and other western countries..
Is this not what our president said about the people he is responsible for
Flets: Nigeria's president has warned his fellow citizens to stop trying to make asylum claims in Britain, saying that their reputation for criminality has made it hard for them to be "accepted" abroad.
Muhammadu Buhari, the tough ex-general elected last year, said those who had joined the migrant exodus to Europe were doing so purely for economic reasons rather than because they were in danger.
He added that because of the number of Nigerians imprisoned for law-breaking in Britain and elsewhere, they were also unlikely to get much sympathy.
"We have an image problem abroad and we are on our way to salvage that"
"Some Nigerians claim is that life is too difficult back home, but they have also made it difficult for Europeans and Americans to accept them because of the number of Nigerians in prisons all over the world accused of drug trafficking or human trafficking," he told The Telegraph.
"I don't think Nigerians have anybody to blame. They can remain at home, where their services are required to rebuild the country."
Verysmart101: Wat abt the money generated from crude oil? Wat should be done abt it?
Americans don't generate anything from crude oil, that is why they are so particular about taxes and jail useless yeyebrities who evade taxes. Not so? Do you that is why most Nigerians are ready to die in the Sahara desert, Mediterranean Sea and Libya just to reach where everyone must pay taxes fully
whitedove: Lauryn Hill told the judge who sentenced her to prison that she planned to pay her taxes; it was just a question of when.
The judge reminded her that citizens don't get to choose when to pay the government just before ordering her to spend three months in a federal prison.
The Grammy-winning singer must report to prison on July 8 to begin serving the sentence for failure to pay federal income taxes for three years, followed by three months of home confinement and a year of supervised probation, the judge said. Hill must also pay penalties and taxes still owed and a $60,000 fine.
Hill pleaded guilty last year to three counts of failing to file tax returns on more than $1.8 million between 2005 and 2007.
The artist appeared Monday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Madeline Cox Arleo in federal court in Newark, New Jersey, for sentencing.
Hill told the judge she lives "very modestly" considering how much money her music -- she has sold 16 million records -- earned for other people.
"Someone did the math, and it came to around $600 million," she said. "And I sit here before you trying to figure out how to pay a tax debt? If that's not like enough to slavery, I don't know."
"This wasn't a life of jet-setting glamour," she said. "This was a life of sacrifice with very little time for myself and my children."
The income in question was mostly from music and film royalties paid to companies she owned between 2005 and 2008, according to the U.S. attorney's office.
"Although Hill pleaded guilty to charges specifically related to those tax years, her sentence also takes into account additional income and tax losses for 2008 and 2009 -- when she also failed to file federal returns -- along with her outstanding tax liability to the state of New Jersey, for a total income of approximately $2.3 million and total tax loss of approximately $1,006,517," the prosecutor said. http://edition.cnn.com/2013/05/06/showbiz/lauryn-hill-prison/index.htm
