Romance › Re: Why Do Nigerian Women Prefer To Date Mostly Nigerian Or Black Men by anonymous6(f): 1:37pm On Oct 20, 2011
^ I agree with you.

Edo and south south women are most open to foreign husbands. followed by igbo
yoruba women are least open to foreign husbands.

you will also know that yoruba culture is stronger in general.

so yea there is a correlation there.
It is true Yoruba women just don't marry out of their tribe as much compared to Igbo, Edo or other south-eastern Nigerian women, even if they are exposed to others in the world; culture is the determinant for them. Plus I agree Yoruba culture is strong so it makes sense.

Anytime I hear a Nigerian women has married a non-Nigerian and of another race, majority of the time it is a non-Yoruba woman from my observation

I have seen that behavior with the men as well, even though Nigerian men may integrate more then the women, I have noticed Igbo, edo and south-eastern men marry out of their culture and race then Yoruba men based on my observation. So I think it is based on the culture and upbringing. The upbringing in a Yoruba home is different from a igbo home at times when it comes to culture and marriage.
Romance › Re: Why Do Nigerian Women Prefer To Date Mostly Nigerian Or Black Men by anonymous6(f): 5:10am On Oct 20, 2011
I think depending on what tribe you are counts because their are women of certain tribes that don't even marry outside their own tribe in Nigeria; regardless of whether they were exposed to other races of men and etc(exception Hausa's). I feel Culture is involved, indian women are the same way. As a Yoruba women I have noticed that majority of Yoruba women only date/marry Yoruba men, not other tribes, other Black men and etc. If they do it is small but when it comes to other tribes of Nigeria they tend to be more open at times into dating/marrying outside their culture/race and etc.
Celebrities › Re: Genevieve Dropped As Naomi Harris Lands James Bond Movie Role by anonymous6(f): 12:57am On Oct 20, 2011
but Genevieve Nnaji was never considered to ever play the "the new bond girl role" in the first place, Naomie Harris was always picked from the beginning to play the part; so this is something new I am hearing

Celebrities › Barack Obama Dislikes His Daughters Watching The Kardashian Reality Show by anonymous6(op): 12:43am On Oct 20, 2011
" We live in a Kardashian nation, but President Barack Obama isn't exactly a fan of reality TV's royal family!

First Lady Michelle Obama tells iVillage that her hubby, 50, doesn't like Sasha, 10, and Malia, 13, keeping up with Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian's antics on the boob tube.

Michelle, 47, says that like most parents, she and Barack regulate how much TV their daughters watch and what they're allowed to see. "Barack really thinks some of the Kardashians -- when they watch that stuff -- he doesn't like that as much," she told iVillage.

"But I sort of feel like if we're talking about it, and I'm more concerned with how they take it in -- what did you learn when you watched that," Michelle explained. "And if they're learning the right lessons, like, that was crazy, then I'm like, okay."
While the Kardashian family is known for their big spending (Kim purchased a $325,000 Ferrari earlier this month), their upbringing wasn't entirely different from Sasha and Malia's.

Michelle tells iVillage she doesn't want her girls raised as "little princesses."

"They have to make their own beds, to clean up their rooms," she says. "Sasha has started doing the laundry. Malia was supposed to be doing it but [Sasha] is really into laundry."

Khloe, 27, told Babycenter last month about her "Cinderella" upbringing. "When I turned twelve, my mom's housekeeper was not allowed to enter my room," she said. Kris Jenner told her at the time: "You're twelve now. You do all your own laundry. You make your bed."
Khloe said when Kendall and Kylie Jenner were born, "I had to do all the dishes and I cooked for them. But honestly now, I'm a great cook and I'm OCD clean and I like that my parents did that."

Celebrities › Re: Kim Kardashian Not A Good Role Model For Middle East Girls- Dubai People Lament by anonymous6(f): 11:39pm On Oct 18, 2011
What these people don't get that by talking & complaining about KIM to the media, you are giving her more attention, that it in directly defeats the purpose of what they are trying to say about Kim Kardashian. Keep that discussion in the households. In the end of the day, They shouldn't worry about this because most of what Kim has ever done so far in her life is basically banned in the middle east. So if any Middle eastern girl sees her as a role model, which is unlikely the should know that is like asking for a death wish.

The FEW that are uneducated? LOL! According to statistics most are uneducated. LOL are you attempting to sugar ish.  cheesy
Statistics from western media right? Yeah there are many uneducated Nigerians in Nigeria but "most of them" as you say are uneducated are not in southern Nigeria, do you even know where the large percentage of where most of them are? hmmm I guess you don't know the answer. Most of the uneducated in Nigeria are from Northern Nigeria(which is a Hausa region & of majority Islamic religion) because western influenced education is not as important to them Compared to the other tribe's in Nigeria. At least in Lagos education is free(which is in Yorubaland). Plus Yorubaland is the land I was talking about.

I don't know what you are trying prove in this discussion, you are even african american so how would you know anything pass those general statistics

Absolutely well deserved. Best actor we have in Africa today. Thank God people have started seeing it.
I agree, Majid Michel deserved it even though he acts over the top sometimes in his movies but his talent surpasses everybody in that list

bovy:
2011 Screen Nation Film and TV Awards  was held last night at Indigo 02 ,London. Nollywood star actress Omotola jalade won the Favourite west African actress category , while Ghallywood star actor , Majid Micheal won the favourite west African actor category .

Favourite West African actress
Ama K abebrese
Funke Akindele
Genevieve Nnaji
Jackie Appiah
Mercy Johnson
Omotola Jalade-----Winner

http://www./2011/10/omotola-jalade-ekehinde-wins-favourite.html#ixzz1b2390F8T
I am not surprised about Majid Michels win because even though he is a rookie compared to Mike Ezurounye, Desmond Elliot, Van vicker & ramsey noauh but his talent as a actor in a way surpasses them. So for him to make that impact & shock value in a short time compared to other actors in Nollywood & Ghollywood today; and the fan base he has generated I am not surprised.

When it comes to the female list well there is not way Funke Akindele and Ama K. Abebrese would have win especially against the others in the list because Funke Akindele is more popular in the Yoruba film industry & among the Yoruba tribe over the Nollywood English industry and other tribes in Nigeria. If it wasn't for the movie Jenifa(which is a Nollywood yoruba movie), she wouldn't have been known outside the Yoruba industry at all by other tribes and to other west africans outside Nigeria in a way. Ama K. Abebrese is a acclaimed actress and has won a AMAA but her popularity is more outside of west africa then inside west africa that she is not as recognizable by movie industries(Ghollywood/Nollywood) or society in general in West africa over people like Genevieve or Jackie Appiah and etc; her name is not even known as much or comes to mind when they think of a west african actress: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ama_K._Abebrese

the rest four had a chance but I feel this was a award between Omotola Jalade & Genevieve Nnaji. Jackie Appiah is a good actress and a AMAA winner and my favorite Ghollywood & Ghanian actress, also she has been voted as Nigeria's favorite actress from Ghana but against actresses like Genevieve and Omotola there was no chance. Mercy Johnson is a good actress and one of the top Nollywood actresses in Nigeria but her resume & popularity doesn't beat Genevieve Nnaji or Omotola's resume in the Nollywood business. Genevieve Nnaji is one of the best actresses in Nollywood and has one of the best resumes, she has done many Nollywood movies in her resume, won awards like the AMAA, and has done international movies like Anchor baby & Ije, interviewed & featured by CNN five times and definitely has the talent BUT she can't stay on top forever and she hasn't done more movies then Omotola jalade this year, plus Omotola is the only actress that has a similar resume to Genevieve except the AMAA win and CNN interview besides that they are head to head with each other now in the business as far as I am concerned. genevieve can't always win everything and Mercy will get her time, the writings are on the wall for her in the future. So I congratulate Omotola, especially with the two international movies she has done this year(The Ties that bind with Kimberly Elise & Amina with Van Vicker) and one two years ago(IJE with Genevieve nnaji)

Nakele:
BTW, how the hell did this woman win? Gene and Mercy deserved the title better
Not everybody agrees with that opinion, and the way I see it Genevieve has many awards under her belt, and Mercy is not in that level yet to get that title as far as I am concerned because outside Nigeria, genevieve, omotola, have more of a favored following then Mercy Johnson, especially since Genevieve had a interview with CNN and Omotola was used by CNN as a example for Nigeria being number five sexist accent in the world
