You put up pictures of ladies who are only good at modelling for Ann Summers or victoria secret NOTHING MORE!!!!!!!! Probably for a Snoop Dog or Shabbah Ranks musical video.
For a victoria secret highly unlikely, but for a snoop dogg and shabba ranks music video you are correct. |
Sagamite:Then we need people like you to start breaking that world or it will continue. Any way I have heard for a while the fashion world has been losing money but it wasn't obvious until 2008 that the fashion world has been losing money because of thsi out of touch attitude and the bad economy added to it, so they are losing money. At least that's what I heard from ABC news two years ago |
Sagamite:Those women have good bodies but to the fashion world These women with that type of body are considered fat, even for glamour models: http://www.drrobynsilverman.com/body-image/karl-lagerfeld-says-no-one-wants-to-see-curvy-women/ . Do I think it is right? NO but the fashion world as I have said before is not in reality at times or in touch with how real womens bodies are. when it comes to Glamour models they will always pick Gisele, Heidi and etc and when it comes to runway models or "catwalk" models they will always pick people like Kate moss and once and a while Alek wek |
buzugee:between the ages of 26-30, you figure out what number ; any way I enjoyed the discussion with you as well |
That is why majority of the time I watch Yoruba movies, because their storyline is always different, non-westernized and traditional. the quality is getting better and improving so I am happy about that but when it comes to Nollywood English movies well I only watch them occasionally, it is mostly when I investigated it very well & found out it is good before watching it; movies like Silent scandal for example. In general though Nollywood movies tend to repeat certain storyline or the westernized stuff they copy they keep recycling it over and over again. |
Sagamite:You are right, I forgot about the others. Many White american women love Blair Underwood; he was featured on the show "sex and the city" as the red heads love interest or boyfriend. Also Many women love Boris kidjoe, like crazy too |
buzugee:I haven't been around a few but alot, and since I was born and grew up in this country I have encountered some with this discussion, especially since it is not secret non-black women in America love black men, specifically african american decent. However harsh features have nothing to do with the rugged look. the older women or middle age women you say tend to just want the rugged men for sex because they think they are packing downstairs, which has nothing to do with the harsh features; that's why the sex industry in the Caribbean between white women and black men is high: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtU3m2M1Ivs |
buzugee:The mature ones like Will Smith, Taye Diggs, Shemar Moore, and etc black men not harsh featured black men, at least the majority of them. I have been around many non-black women and I have heard them even called harsh featured black men ugly. Will Smith https://celebrityscoops.net/wp-content/gallery/will-smith-photo-gallery/will-smith-20090113-484016.jpg Taye Diggs https://www.bizarrebytes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Taye-Diggs-Shirtless.jpg Shemar Moore https://www.eftekasat.net/pmg/pix_edadasastew/3105/Shemar_Moore_29.jpg |
buzugee:To the westernized world, in America that is harsh features or a minor form of it, not to talk about somebody like Seal This is the type of Black men white women or other non-black women tend to gravitate too; if he is not mixed black like shemar Moore then it is black men like will smith,, Reggie Bush(african american men) https://www.blogcdn.com/www.bvonlove.com/media/2010/01/reggie-bush-essence-cover.jpg https://www.theteaent.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/reggie-bush.jpg https://www.usnews9.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/hidden-gem-reggie-bush.jpg Not Black men like this https://www.jamati.com/online/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/1172684317_extras_fotos_gente_0.jpg |
buzugee:I am not a man, and I am actually a african female but born and raised in America, and some african women don't have problems with harsh features. The african females I tend to see have that anti-harsh features view are either from horn of africa or Kenyan. If you see how ghanians women have a thing for the ghollywood actor Prince David Osei, you will be surprised and he has harsh features Prince David Osei https://cdn.nigerian-movies.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/42.jpg the african men I have seen african women call ugly for the harsh features is seal, but many african american women & non-black women I have heard expressed the same opinion |
buzugee:I agree that harsh features sold their talent but many black African women like harsh features( examples Adewale Akinnouye, djimon hounsou, and etc); some Black women also believe the stereotype the "darker the berry the sweeter the juice" . I have heard many african american women praise men like Wesley Snipes and Will smith in the same arena but call djimon Honsou ugly in celebrity site, but it wasn't only african american women many, many non-black women have called him ugly especially when he married Kimora Lee Simmons. Some fans have criticized her for that. In America most white females like the the look & swagger of african american dudes not african dudes, I have heard and witnessed this in school. There are many white women that love men like Will smith, Taye Tiggs, and etc but are necessarily into black men with features like Djimon Hounsou. If you see how many non-blacks and blacks have called Seal ugly after marrying Heidi Klum, you will be surprised. I have been to celebrity sites and anytime they showcase seal/heidi Klum they always say her white daughter is prettier then her three other mixed kids, it is so sad(most of the time it's from white men from Europe and America at times). Even when some folks say something nice they avoid talking about seals looks, believe me the feeling is mutual when it comes to Black men with harsh looks, it may not be as strong when it comes to black women with harsh looks but it's happening. The african dude I see non-african women(regardless of race) like is idris Alba BUT not seal Idris Alba(ghanian/sierrea leone) https://smartsexyrichcrazy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/idris-alba-essence.jpg Seal(brazilain/Nigerian) https://www.sweetslyrics.com/images/img_gal/12916_seal-4421.jpg |
I see where you are coming from too. Michael Jackson's behavior and demise is as a result of depression and mental issues he has. so the fantasy he created for himself is to try to escape his world. as long as you can connect to the people around you, one should be fine. ex if you are a fashion designer, connect to people who who you are designing for etc that's why I say that it is usually people who appreciate high fashion and art that might appreciate a beauty like alek wek. just like 20% of the population cannot connect with the 80% that appreciate Justin Bieber. lol but doesn't mean they live a fantasy world. they just live a different reality. (I know there's an exagerration there but u get my point). That's why I used the word "unconventional" beauty to describe Alek wek. she is not conventional like a pageant queen (miss universe, miss world etc). I guess you do not see her beauty. and that is ok. but there are many people out there who do see it. and that is ok too. have we agreed to disagree?
understood |
Sagamite:OMG I think I am going to hurl, so disgusting The first woman needs a sandwich, snack, desert and drink immediately the second woman needs to stop eating all together & get by pass surgery immediately |
lol. you are funny. those people you mention live real lives. It's ironic because Marie Antoinette was beheaded by the french revolutionaries. and gadaffi is currently in a cage/prison. you don't find it real because it is not your reality. that kind of life will be a fantasy to you. ex. a lot of adults do not consider children to have real lives. lol because that is not their reality. but to the child, that is his/her reality. some people out of school do not consider students to be living in real life. etc just because you don't live in it doesn't mean it's not real. I don't know how to explain it to you. but I hope you get my point.
I understand what you mean but I am talking about in general the world follow a set of standards and rules and when somebody is not in that set of standards, it gives them room or a excuse to not live in the reality they are in, so it is irrelavnt that they are living real lives because all of them are but when you live a illusion that's when it becomes a problem. To me Marie Antoinette and Gadaffi had it coming, I feel they refuse to connect to people in the real world and stayed in their illusion, which resulted in their behaviors and demise. look at Micheal Jackson, he was living a fantasy land life |
so then pls tell me: what do you define as the "real world"? there is fashion world, there is academic world, there is industrial world, there is ghetto world. there are all different kinds of worlds. what is the real world to you?
To me a world that shields you in the way life is or the way things truly are for humans, I will give you examples of people that are not living in reality because of this. examples: Paris Hilton= I think you know what bubble that dits is in Kardashian sisters= do I need to explain Marie Antoinette= I think eveybody knows her story, that attitude contributed to her death Gadaffi=his power got to him psychologically that he no longer lived in reality Mubarak Family= Egypt had to riot by force before that familiy got out of their bubble & world before they finally got their message that their time was up Micheal Jackson= He was one of the greatest singer in the world but he was living a fantasy life, with his never never land and trying to be peter pan and a white man |
first you brought up about suburbs and the ghetto, and the fashion world and when I explain each three, you mix up the three together. I was talking about two different things. so when I say fashion world I don't mean location. Location only applied to the ghetto and suburb question you asked, don't twist my words. the first sentence meant location, the second sentence which was fashion had nothing to do with location explanation. So i don't care about the location of the fashion world it is irrelevant, because they are following the same set of rules, their issue is psychological anonymous6:my first sentence was meant to answer this statement you asked?
ok. then I'm not living in the real world then. because I don't live in the ghetto. are you living in the real world? I think we should all agree to disagree. esp. on this topic where beauty is a matter of opinion. as they say, it is in the "eye of the beholder"
|
Sagamite:I agree, lol |
Sagamite:The issue you are not getting is in the fashion world they believe this, some art in the fashion world I think is crap but the fashion world lives by a different set of rules from the real world, so to us it nonsense to them it makes sense; and that's what I meant with the statement. To the high fashion world kate moss and Alek wek are beautiful in a artistic way, it's weird but that is the fashion world for you. That is why personally I am in different to the high fashion world because they are not in touch sometimes with the conventional world |
ok. then I'm not living in the real world then. because I don't live in the ghetto. are you living in the real world? I think we should all agree to disagree. esp. on this topic where beauty is a matter of opinion. as they say, it is in the "eye of the beholder"
No, their are other places besides ghetto's and suburbs their are towns, cities and etc. Majority of the fashion world is not in the real world http://www.drrobynsilverman.com/body-image/karl-lagerfeld-says-no-one-wants-to-see-curvy-women/ |
so what is the real world? the ghetto? lol everybody's reality is different.
In a way the ghetto is a sad reality of the world because their are hard choices and struggle people go through in the ghetto Everybody is living in the real world but psychologically some people in the this world are not in reality. |
beauty and art is all in one to many people outside the fashion world as well. fashion world is not the real world, suburbs is not the real world etc. that's ridiculous. ghetto isn't the only real world out there. if it's in the world, it's real.
In reality the fashion world is not in the real world, and to a extent the suburbs are not either. The fashion world is like a illusion 99% of the time & the suburbs I have been many of them are not in reality, they don't know what struggle is or care to. For example the Germain designer Karl Lagerfeld was criticized for not putting curvy women or real women in his runways and he said "no one wants to see curvy women", he is right in his fashion world they don't but in the real world nobody wants to see a anorexic kate moss. This attitude has been affecting the fashion world now a days because they are out of touch with reality' http://www.drrobynsilverman.com/body-image/karl-lagerfeld-says-no-one-wants-to-see-curvy-women/ |
Sagamite:There is a big difference between convincing yourself about something and explaining how things are. I was explaining how things are in the high fashion world not how I want things to be, those are two different things. To the fashion world it makes sense, because that is what they believe, the fashion world is not in the real world so to them uniqueness and art = beauty; and that's how they view Alek Wek. As I said before I am in-different to Alek Weks look when it comes to her face, to me it isn't pretty but it isn't hideous either |
Sagamite:I didn't convince myself with anything but that is how the high fashion world in a way views her, unique=beauty with a artistic twist to the high fashion world but in the real world it isn't always the case, and that's where Alek Wek is in. Personally to me I am indifferent to Alek Wek's look, she is neither ugly or pretty facially to me but my opinion about her face is meaningless compared to the versace's hiring her for her 'UNIQUE LOOK". Also in the high fashion world Alek wek is a rarity, she is the first person of that look to make it up to the top level in the fashion world |
Not just that. The shape of each tooth. Her teeth is not align sef. They are all just going in their different misdirection.
understood |
Alek Wek is not the typical African, it's ignorance that makes Non-Africans believe that all Africans share her feature. She is not the typical African. I've yet to meet any African that looks like her. Saying she's ugly is not insulting Africans. She's simply ugly. I've seen better African models. The western world just use her as the typical African model, which I believe is the real insult. She has grace, intellect, body and all those mushy stuff. Just not beauty.
There is a point you brought up that I agree with, she is not the sole representation of african beauty but people like Liya Kebede is not the sole representation of african beauty either. What I don't like is they don't show other beauties of Africa like West, Southern, and central africa, if it's not a women form horn of Africa like Iman or Liya Kebede, they put Alek wek as a option and that's it; that's the issue I have seen that I don't like |
