zolzlolz:To tell you the truth I am not a model-fashion world fanatic but I never said the supermodels of the past are in the same league as the models of today in my past statements but no matter how you phrase it, if ABC news and Forbes is calling Heidi Klum and Tyra banks supermodels or giving them that title that will show you that in today's age nodody really care about the distinction between the traditional supermodels of the 80's compared to the models now. Plus nobody really knows the difference between Tyra banks and Naomi Campbell when it comes to their line of work or level because the thing that gave them a distinction which is the supermodel vs. the model era is dead and seems to be meaningless to people. If you go to anybody outside the fashion world, they don't see a difference, to me right now they are in the same level, only one came out before the other that's all (the top 6 supermodels you mentioned I never denied it or questioned it, but that era is dead now but the word "supermodel" or title "SUPERMODEL" is still used). As far as I am concerned You should direct that debate to ABC news, Forbes and etc. I really don't care what they are called because models are all the same to me whether it is Heidi or Cindy(except the difference between runway vs. Glamour models), but what I am telling you is in 2011 even though the supermodel era is over and dead, the title" supermodel "is still used now on Heidi, Tyra, and many other models of today regardless of how you and I think about. To me the way I look at it most of the people in the world don't respect the title of "SUPERMODEL" itself because if they did you wouldn't see forbes, ABC news and etc give heidi klum and etc that title so loosely, so that shows me that the top 6 supermodels that you mentioned are only relevant in the era when the legit SUPERMODELS mattered, now nobody really cares Also to be honest besides the fashion world, people tend to respect musicians more the models, so it is easy to know that you can't compare beyonce and Aretha at the same level, everybody in this world that knows them knows both women are not and never will be in the same level. Aretha is in a different league but when it comes to the modeling world nobody cares enough to know the difference between the supermodel and model because they are basically mirror images of each other; and since the era that made the distinction is dead and the word or title "supermodel" is still used by mainstream media on models besides the legit 6 supermodels you mentioned, it shows that in today's age nobody really knows the distinction(besides people like you) or cares to know because they don't see a difference and since the media uses the title loosely, people like Heidi, Tyra and etc are getting the title now. It is sad but the truth. |
zolzlolz:I know the era of the Traditional supermodel is basically dead and reigned in the 80's & early 90's but Tyra and heidi have been labeled as supermodels by many acclaimed fashion Glamour magazines & media because the word "supermodel" in 2011 is used losely now, here are some examples: HEIDI KLUM Heidi Klum: From Supermodel To Super Mom http://www.accesshollywood.com/heidi-klum-from-supermodel-to-super-mom_gallery_1159 "About Heidi Klum Heidi Klum (pronounced Kloom) (born 1 June 1973) is a German supermodel, actress, fashion designer and artist born in Bergisch Gladbach, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany." http://www.supermodels.nl/heidiklum ABC NEWS Heidi Klum: Supermodel and Supermom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kz90uQut_Y4 The End of the supermodel "Not to mention that the supermodels of yesterday are as busy as ever. Many of them—such as Kathy Ireland, Tyra Banks and Heidi Klum—now head up multi-million dollar or even billion dollar corporations." TYRA BANKS ‘Supermodel’ Tyra Banks’ turns bestselling author with ‘Modelland’ http://zeenews.india.com/entertainment/bookworm/supermodel-tyra-banks-turns-bestselling-author-with-modelland_1979.htm Why Is Tyra Banks A Supermodel? http://www.bobpardue.com/supermodels/tyra-banks.htm nobody respects the word "Supermodel" or what it meant at the era or time of the traditional supermodel like Naomi & Cindy any more or cares, most glamour models of today are given that title now a days because the era of traditional supermodels are gone & it has a different meaning now, so any model can get that title now so in a way Tyra and Heidi are supermodels. The title "Supermodel" of the 80's that was given to people like Cindy Crawford is different from the title "Supermodel" now(2011) after the end of the traditional supermodels days or era http://forums.thefashionspot.com/f96/end-supermodel-era-41836.html http://www.hilary.com/fashion/supermodels.html http://www.bellasugar.com/Supermodel-Dead-Should-She-Return-592318 http://www.forbes.com/sites/kiriblakeley/2011/05/08/the-end-of-the-supermodel/ http://www.topindianmodels.com/indian-fashion/supermodel-culture/ |
cap28:exactly I agree, but there is something I disagree with what you said when it comes to body shape africans view of the ideal body shape will always be different from Europeans view of a beautiful body shape but when it comes to features like nose and hair that's where I feel some blacks have been brainwashed a little. |
engineerd:You are right that her face is not facially pretty but most models in the Runway-modeling world don't have pretty faces in the first place, unless they are in Victoria secrets but in the high fashion-runway model world facial beauty is not as important their skeleton bodies or slim bodies are; alek wek's is used artistically in the fashion world not only due to her slim and tall built body but because of her uniqueness and as a result the beauty label is labeled on her. To the modeling world art is beauty & uniqueness is a sort of art; Alek wek is considered a unique beauty in the fashion world, at least in Europe, Americans just think she is ugly. This is how Alek wek is used in the fashion world, a runway model, in a unique artistic way. her uniqueness is what they equate as beauty it self https://www.beautyisdiverse.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/alek-wek-id-summer-2011-570x743.jpg RUNWAY MODELS are people like Alek wek, Kate Moss and etc that are not really needed for their beauty or facial beauty specifically but their slim bodies and at times their uniqueness to showcase that fashion designers products http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model_%28person%29#Runway_modelling examples Kate Moss https://www.harpersbazaar.com/cm/harpersbazaar/images/kate-moss-lindbergh-de-5729105.jpg SUPERMODELS & GLAMOUR MODELS are known more for the beauty and sex appeal like Heidi klum, Tyra banks, Selita Ebanks, and etc http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model_%28person%29#Supermodels examples https://socialimplications.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/victoria.jpg Tyra banks https://www.hilaryshepherd.com/rantsnraves/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/tyra-banks.jpg Selita Ebanks https://rocknrollghost.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/SelitaEbanksII.jpg This is why I don't understand why this issue is such a big deal any way because runway models are known and meant to showcase fashion, they are not meant for their beauty; it's Glamour and supermodels that are known for that |
well this is good news I guess |
@OP I just wanted to correct you: "CHANEL IMAN Chanel Iman Robinson (born November 30, 1989), better known as Chanel Iman, is an American fashion model. Half African American, half Korean, Chanel grew up in Los Angeles, California. She won 3rd place at the 2006 Ford Supermodel of the World contest and ended up signing with the agency[6]. Iman walked down the runway for the first time in the Fall/Winter 2006 season for high-end brands like DKNY; since then she has modelled for many top designers, including Dolce & Gabbana, Issey Miyake, Marc Jacobs, Valentino, Dsquared, Hermès, Michael Kors, Oscar de la Renta, Ralph Lauren, Anna Sui, Diane von Fürstenberg, Vera Wang, Jean Paul Gaultier and Stella McCartney. She has appeared in advertising campaigns for Bottega Veneta, GAP, Victoria's Secret Pink, and United Colors of Benetton." CHANEL IMAN is 1/4 asian not half, her mother is blasian and father african american http://www.modelinia.com/videos/family-dynamics--chanel-iman---her-mom/63 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaOCt1y783M http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chanel_Iman#Early_life |
That man must have had some medical conditions before to lead to this, people who are obeised like Rick Ross tend to develop other medical problems like diabetes and heart disease which increases their chances of stroke. As sad as this news is I am not surprised Rick Ross https://tattooloaders.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/rick-ross-tattoos.jpg |
OgaMadam:I agree, I wanted to also say that as well in the modeling world(high fashion world) they like the slim, thin, tall females don't care much for the facial beauty(at least in the traditional modeling world, especially in Europe but In America she is considered ugly) and it makes sense because Kate moss is also the same weight, height and she isn't all pretty facially in the traditional sense either but they have a unique beauty though in a way, in a artistic sort of way Kate Moss https://www.gossipboulevard.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/kate-moss.jpg Alek Wek https://imodelumodel.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/alek-wek-supermodel.jpg @OP The modeling world especially in Europe which is the godfather or the head of the modeling world internationally, they look at beauty artistically not the standard view of beauty. People can complain about alek wek but her body and artistic image is what the European designers like about her; and almost all top designers in the world are hiring her for that in runway shows, and etc. As much as people may have their views about her beauty, she is going to be the one remembered in the future vs. the sea of blond white women models she is always among because Alek wek is a rarity and as a result is unique and people remember the unique then the common |

"PUNAKHA, Bhutan (AP) — The beloved king of the tiny Himalayan nation of Bhutan married his commoner bride Thursday in an ancient Buddhist ceremony at the country's most sacred monastery fortress. King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck, wearing the raven crown, came down from his golden throne in front of a huge statue of Buddha to place a smaller, silk brocade crown upon the head of his bride, Jetsun Pema. Monks chanted in celebration as she took her seat beside him as the new queen of the country. The wedding has captivated the nation, which had grown impatient with their 31-year-old bachelor king's lack of urgency to find a bride and start a family of his own since his father retired and handed power to him five years ago. Children composed poems, flight attendants practiced celebratory dances and posters of the couple were nearly ubiquitous. The celebrations began at 8:20 a.m. — a time set by royal astrologers — when the king, wearing the royal yellow sash, walked into the courtyard of the 17th century monastery in the old capital of Punakha and proceeded up the high staircase inside. A few minutes later, his 21-year-old bride arrived at the end of a procession of red-robed monks and flag bearers across a wooden footbridge over the wide, blue river beside the fort and followed him inside. Singers chanted songs of celebration amid the clanging of drums and the drone of long dhung trumpets. She wore a traditional wraparound skirt with a gold jacket with deep red cuffs. Inside, the nation's top cleric, who presided over the wedding, performed a purification ceremony for the couple in front of a massive 100-foot Thongdal tapestry of Bhutan's 17th century founder, the monk-king Zhabdrung. The pair then proceeded to the temple for a ceremony broadcast live on national television, save for a few minutes when the king, his father and the cleric, known as the Je Khenpo, entered the sacred tomb of Zhabdrung, where only they are allowed. The king's father then gave the bride an array of five colored scarves representing blessings from the tomb. Hesitantly, she then approached the king's throne with a golden chalice filled with the ambrosia of eternal life. They held it together for several seconds and then he drank. The king, wearing his red Raven Crown, with an image of the protector bird rising from the top, came down from the throne and placed a smaller crown on her head. After she took her place as queen, the newly married couple was feted by monks playing deep tones on traditional trumpets and pounding drums. The Je Khenpo presented them a series of gifts — a mirror, curd, grass, a conch — representing blessings for longevity, wisdom, purity and other well wishes. Unlike this year's other royal wedding — that of Britain's William and Kate — there were no foreign princes, no visiting heads of state, no global celebrities. Just the royal family, thousands of nearby villagers gathered at a nearby field waiting for the royal couple to celebrate with them and the rest of the country's 700,000 people watching live on TV. "The whole theme of the wedding was to keep it a simple family affair, that is the Bhutanese family," said Kinley Dorji, Bhutan's secretary of information. The Oxford-educated king is adored for pushing development and ushering in democratic reforms that established a constitutional monarchy and legislature in 2008. His teen-idol looks — slicked back hair, long sideburns — his penchant for evening bike rides through the streets and his reputation as a laid-back, accessible leader, also make him the rare monarch whose picture adorns the bedroom walls of teenage girls. His bride, the daughter of a pilot, has been on an introductory tour of the remote villages of the nation since the king told Parliament in May, "It's now time for me to marry." The remote nation began slowly opening up to the rest of the world in the 1960s. Foreigners and the international media were first admitted in 1974. Television finally arrived in 1999. The country has not had a royal wedding since the fourth king held a mass ceremony in 1988 with his four wives — four sisters whom he had informally married years earlier. The current king says he will take only one wife, so the country is unlikely to see another such celebration for a long time." http://news.yahoo.com/king-bhutan-marries-commoner-bride-040837856.html https://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/52856000/jpg/_52856287_012025572-1.jpg |

Fact is she is Ugly facially, i am not talking about height or body stats or what not. And actually, she would look uglier if she were Yellow or white or purple.
