From 28 weeks, Emirates requires fit to fly from your doctor, with the hospital letterhead.

Must not be dated more than 48 hours before your flight. All of this information is on the Emirates website.

They do not require port health letter.

Airport officials have no business with if you are pregnant or not.

2.NPC= National Population Commission
3.Citizen of Nigeria (also known as Nigerian Citizenship)=I have shared extract from the constitution earlier
4.Should/shouldn't= authority to decide (base on rules & regulations)
5.Fact= Very deep and wide with many attributes e.g true always, constant over time, verifiable and can come in different form)

NB: Assumption here is that Children in discuss are holding both Nigerian (due to lineage) and American (due to place of birth) citizenship

A birth certificate is what it is - certifying the details surroundng the birth of a child (DOB, time of birth, location, etc)

So you have a birth certificate stating a person was born in Fort Bend County, USA.

Then you have one issued at Mafoluku Local Government stating you were born in Mafoluku General Hospital.

How does this make any sense?

IMO having 2 BCs is like have 2 Int'l Passports. So far they have same information stating the actual fact. BCs issued in Nigeria is to record a Child's birth by NPC, they should be the one to state if children (Nigerian citizen) born outside the shores of Nigeria should/shouldn't be registered in Nigeria.
I don't agree a document stating the fact can affect anyone adversely in the future.

Usually all providers provide a zero balance letter, or some documentation that shows zero at the bottom of the page.

From the tone of the form, the MEDIF is primarily for people with serious illnesses, I sent it to them just to be sure but from their response I did not have to. This was EMIRATE's response after I sent MEDIF to them:

Medical certificate on official letter head, either from the Doctor, Hospital or Clinic at the airport on travel date.


Expectant mothers are normally not regarded as Person with Disabilities however certain restrictions apply which are given below - medical certificate or letter :-

1. No medical certificate or letter is required up to the end of the 28th week of an uncomplicated single pregnancy.
2. Common complications in pregnancy that require a medical certificate or letter can include gestational diabetes / pre-eclampsia and eclampsia / placenta praevia / intrauterine growth retardation and premature rupture of membranes.
3. When the pregnancy has entered the 29th week a medical certificate or letter issued by a qualified doctor or midwife (an official letter head of Doctor, Hospital or Clinic) stating fitness to fly and confirming the expected date of delivery is required.
4. Medical certificate can be on official letter head, either from the Doctor, Hospital or Clinic.
5. No approval required from medical services up to the end of the 36th week.
6. The certificate or letter must be returned to the passenger after verification as it might be required at down-line stations. If required a photocopy may be retained.


Acceptance

In addition to the certificate requirement there are certain limitations as the pregnancy nears its end. These are

(a.) Uncomplicated single pregnancies - accept up to end of the 36th week.

(b.) Multiple pregnancies such as twins or triplets - accept up to end of the 32nd week

Emirates:

I had send an email to the Emirates office with my info and status of pregnancy, they responded that I did not have to fill the MEDIF form and I was good to go. I shaa printed the emial to take with me before someone will tell me another thing.

At boarding, they asked me for fit to fly, I gave them the sample one on the website I had gotten my Doctor to fill, but they asked for one on a hospital letterhead. I gave it to them and they let me through.

Flight to Dubai was basic, nothing fancy. Travelling with an active 2 year old, he scattered my tray of food, threw tantrums, etc. 5 hours into a 7 hour flight, he eventually slept. Pleasant hostesses, with plenty gifts for the kiddo, coloring book and pencils for him, a stuffed toy with a blanket in it, cute.

Dubai airport lovely as usual, stroller for kid etc . Connection of 3 hours, pretty short and flew by quickly.

15 hour flight from DXB to IAH was loooong! In retrospect I would not do it again, kilode. Thankfully my son was pretty well behaved this time around.

POE:

Immigration queue was bloody long. I was trying to look helpless as if someone will just assist me, or bump me up the queue, nothing o.
No stroller for kids, no special assistance, nothing. I know sey I dan enter America be that, all man for himself.

After about 1.5 hours on the queue, I was pissed but arranged my face when I got to the front

Me: Good afternoon
POE Officer: Good Afternoon. I can see you are pregnant, you have a kid with a US passport, and you are Nigerian. CanI see your receipts?
Me: *taken aback at how direct he was, showed him all my recepits, I had arranged and labeleld them for each provider (dr, hospital, paed, epirudal etc)*
POE Officer: I dont want receipts, show me all the zero balance letters
Me: Showed him all the zero balance letters
POE Officer: I am convinced. Make sure you come with your receipts everytime you travel to the US, even if you dont have hard copy, ensure you have it in your email. I can see you came prepared. Well done. make sure you do the same for this pregnancy.

took my finger prints and said I was good to go.
I said thank you and quickly left lol

Of course the oversabi Agriculture people had to do their thing and pulled me to one side, I guess I had Naija written all over me.

Scanned my bags through the machine, said I was free to go.

I wonder why people always asks this question about driving in the US, U are in the US to have your baby,why driving? why cant they do what they came to do and leave to Nigeria and then drive as they like? instead of coming to foreign mans land with non immigrant visa and create one problem or the other for yourself in the name of driving,. The women that are typically bounced are the women that said one thing at the embassy e.g. vacation and get to the point of entry and say another thing e.g. childbirth. This is also knows as MISREPRESENTATION.

Go for your vacation, as you told the visa officer, come back, and then go for your childbirth.

Okay this is what I have gathered based on my research on this matter:

Emirates as we know it has always been up to 36th week okay.

Recent information came out about this 33 weeks thing....

Scouring through the website, contradictory information.

One section - see here - says that under 36 weeks is allowed to travel

Another section says that for flights under 8 hours, can't fly beyond 36 weeks, but for flights over 8 hours, can't fly beyond 33 weeks

So generally flights LOS to Dubai is 7 hrs thereabouts which is fine, but the DXB - america leg is at least 13 hours, hence the confusion.

People have called their offices with varying responses.

Just called Oakbend.

It's now US$2,750 vaginal, effective yesterday.

At least the increment is still reasonable, not like Houston Methodist Sugarland that practically doubled their rate...

You can try to get a letter from the hospital stating that you are not indebted to them in any way, and did not take aid in any form.

Everything in your story checked out and seemed straighforward except that the cash paid appeared low...

I called Emirates office last month when this issue of 32 weeks came up. I just called them again now, the number of weeks for single uncomplicated is 36 weeks. All you need is your fit to fly and signed medical certificate from their website. Please let's always confirm. So many people have bought tickets based on the 36 weeks. Before person go enter high jump.

The medical certificate you are referring to, is it the one specially for pregnancy (simple one pager for your Dr to sign), or the MEDIF one (very detailed 3 page document); they are both on their website hence the question..
