Hello,
Silent reader of the forum here. And you have been of great help for me in this journey .
Looking to get back home to give a detailed synopsis of this experience.HOWEVER,Please I need the urgent assistance of anyone who recently had a baby at HNWMC.
The paediatrician bill I just received is $3,800!

The breakdown sheet I was given at registration was not even up to$1000,but I still budgeted $1000. I also declined the hearing test.

Please can someone help me to explain or direct me to who to talk to about reducing the estimate.

Please help!I am due to leave this country by Sunday

Were you CS? Did a pediatrician attend the birth? Were extra tests done? Did your child stay in the nursery (this typically should not be charged as most hospitals offer Well baby and mother packages so they cover a well baby but some hospitals have been known to charge for babies staying in the nursery as against staying with the mother in the room).

You need to be aggressive with them, ask for the financial counselor and ask for a detailed breakdown.

After all said and done, negotiate with them and keep stressing that you are self pay.

All the best. Please come back and give us an update on the outcome

Hello good pple, I want to find out between the Hospital and Dr's Office which shd be closer to my Accommodation? I was thinking it should be the hospital considering the Day of delivery but I have heard that the Dr's office shd be given more priority because u go 4 more appointments while one ends up going 2 d Hospital hopefully once. Please help a sister out as I need to make my decision about hospital/accomodation. Thank u n God bless.

bolded is correct. However distance is relative. You don't want a hospital that is 2 hours away, if you get my drift

And now Chi St. Luke's Hospital in Sugar Land has a new policy. You pay a $20,000 deposit before registration. Confirmed this at the hospital yesterday.

Abeg eez like we will share the remaining states in this America amongst ourselves and task ourselves to explore other hospitals o.

Houston is starting to open eye. Haba! 20k kwaaa!

Thanks.....
Ours is one year, think there is a mistake somewhere

The standard is 5 years.

1 year is when you use a certain type of birth certificate/ notary form that is not fully recognised / or something along those lines.

Triple K mama..congratulations again.

You will run into issues when getting the Nigerian passport for TKM junior because the naija passport agency will ask you 'on what documentation did he enter the country'.

Pls go back and do the needful ooo.

But 367k for one adult isn't bad

Yeah it's not bad at all. It's the child's own that is mind boggling.

Child is 60% of adult fare abi?, 691k is high o, na wa o. Just put a price alert on your dates and also call them give them the month your travelling and tell them to tell you the cheapest dates to fly in that month

It's very weird, One adult and one child is 691k. One adult alone is N367k. That works out to wayyy more than 60%, 70% of adult fare.

And one can't check for child alone. Still looking sha.

You're very smart to have bought your June ticket ahead now, because June & July are the highest seasons which is summer.
Me sef I always do permutations and adjust to fit into my budget, like now houston is 383k, NY is 335k via emirates, anyone travelling later it's best to buy now before the prices become unbearable, how I get alerts on cheap fare is that I sign up with the airline itself for offers, once the offer begins I get the email and I call them to book it or call travel agent. It's just so painful because airfares weren't this crazy before, if you're 550k for airfare before na business class be that but the tables have turned now, 550k is not for economy due to the recession

I should be travelling late April but the naija in me wont let me commit to buying now grin ...what if something should happen lol .

I'm still tracking daily... I don't want to miss this Emirates sale sha...I saw 691k for One adult one child

to be honest I did not know I was meant to write a letter of "change of intent" would have done that...and the VO checked my reciept and confirmed everything was paid for in full....my fear is that they never give time to explain anything and I am trying to imagine the possible questions they'll throw at us when we go for the next interview....

Question for you: did you use the visa for vacation as you had declared at the initial interview?

Saying you were not pregnant at the interview is besides the point. You said you were going for vacation, but you went for childbirth. It's a straightforward lie, in the eyes of the visa officer.

Just apply as freshers. Carry the usual documents + all your receipts.

All the best.

Hi all. Happy New Year. May this year be even better than anything we've seen before.

Please, I need a little clarification. I applied for a medical visa with my mum as traveling companion. We got the visas, thank God. The thing is, I have to travel at 35 weeks and I want to go alone, then she and my husband can join me a week or so to my delivery date. (She has a business and even she isn't eager to abandon her work plus her husband for a whole two months abroad.)

My question is, shey I won't have any issues at the Houston POE? Will they ask about the traveling companion, will it be an issue that she's joining me three days later?

Please help.

3 days or 3 weeks later?

I don't think it should be a problem. Last last if she already has a ticket you can hold it to show them she is joining later, closer to the delivery date.

I thought of that and was skeptical. Hope it won't pose a problem for me? I am already working on oakbend hospital correspondence though. So I could use that. But at the PRE it is whatever hospital I use in getting my visa that I must tender to immigration?

Just use the same correspondence for application and poe. You can always change your mind when you enter.

Can you modify your post of yesterday to take out my email address please. Thanks

Thank you. I got it.. I am really confuse. I am due in May and intend travelling at 36 weeks. They don't take wire transfers and you have to pay at 7 months. No letter to the embassy and all.

What do you advice please

What you find is that once you pay cash before delivery you should be ok.

You may need to find another hospital that is willing to give you correspondence and use that for embassy purposes.

True. I was there earlier today with my wife and they confirmed that as of Jan 1, 2017, the the new prices are $5,000 for vaginal and $7,000 for CS. Heard other Houston hospitals are likely to review their prices too, so best to choose one and register asap.

Yes this is correct.

Spoke to the financial counsellor and she said prices have not changed but I saw a documentation that said it's now $5000 for hospital. Me I dan port. Houston Methodist no be by force.

I'm wary of paying early. I will continue scouting to see what gives.

That's the price I got when I called initially too. So as adviced, go through a doctor ,you will get a lower package.

Thanks. Will wait till New year and chase up aggressively.

September 2016.

Did you mention that you are self-pay?

Physicians coordinate healthcare in the US. It is best you speak with your physician to give you a breakdown of his fee and the hospital fee.

Thanks.

Yeah I mentioned that it's self pay. I went on to ask her if there was a recent price increase, she said she cannot say anything about that but that this is the price (quite rude) undecided

I'll call again in the new year. I suspect that she has added epidural to the fee.

Please when was this.

I called them yesterday they told me that its $4,036 for VD. Not sure if they have already added epidural?

The woman was quite unhelpful; my contact there (when I had my baby there the last time) is on vacation / away for the holidays
