well, its a piece of paper, not like a suitcase or something. Also, air hostesses do it for a fee, which is usually cheaper than courier
True.

Logistically though looks like a long thing...courier is fast, trackeable, etc

You can go to the Airport and try to see if anyone can help you take it to Houston, Sometimes they do and it takes just one day.
Just curious...do people still do this though? i.e travelling with items that belongs to strangers undecided

If people haven't done their research and posted them here in the first place, I don't know how you would have even gotten these advertisement you are protecting so much without considering the end users. In as much as I understand that the business aspect is very important, you also have to consider those that make the thread what it is.
This for me is the fundamental argument against NL's stance. The good people of this forum made it what it is today and made it viable for adverts.

However like FinanceFitness pointed out, it is Seun Osewa's forum, after all, and they make the decisions, and they need to make money.

However I am not sure what the point of the entire thread would be then huh

We will see how this will play out.

happy sunday peeps

@veterans in the house who have driven/rented a car before in the US, is it really cost saving as such? kindly advise
did u get an international driver's L in lagos you used
kindly give me contacts. someone wana chop my head off ( as i no get the new driver' L yet)
Hey uptown17 If you are able to get a car for free/cheap, please go for it.

Hubby and I were able to get a car (after spending so much money on cab/Uber/etc).

We filled up the tank once, for about $28 or so, and used it for all our waka for about 3 weeks. We just topped it up after so that we won't be returning the car to our kind friend on empty/red.

We only had to pay for insurance and one or 2 things.

Got a bill of over $800 for the Pd's visit in the hospital for only 2 days...excluding visits after discharge from the hospital...can't do that again...Help pls. ..Trying to save some $$$
I used Dr. Bing Sung for paed.. Total cost for in hospital baby visit and follow on visit at her office 2 weeks later was roughly $380. She is very good and thorough but somewhat abrupt, no niceties.

Just ask for her when u get to the hospital for delivery.

Hope I aint breaking any rules...

Hello all, after lots of contemplation at whether to share my experience or not to I have decided to share. I know lots of people will judge me, insult and criticise me but I have decided I don't care my major reason for sharing is for others to learn.
Thank you for sharing. It must be hard. I am sure that a number of people would decide to keep quiet but you still came back to share. I admire your courage.

Just something for people who are unsuccessful in this yankee baby endeavour for some reason (visa denial, POE rejection, premature baby etc), have you considered investing the entire amount in an irrevocable trust fund for your child?

I had decided that if for any reason I have my future child in Nigeria (which would be free with my health insurance), I would set aside minimum of US$15-20k and invest in a trust fund that generates a fixed amount (10-12% returns per year) for the child, never to be touched until the child is 16/18 years. I will also commit to investing a minimum amount every year to add to the fund.

This will help to secure the child's future and help to guarantee a higher education outside the country.

funkebold you can consider this route. Hugs

No ma'am.
I think the different anesthesiologist affiliated with the hospital work with different offices.
Mine worked with pinnacle pain mgt center.

I tried getting the doc to mk payment upfront for the epidural session buh d dude seemed impossible to catch.
Like I said, I cudda even scored a better deal of less than $800.00 if I had battled them well because I know I'm very poor with the fort n back negotiation talks. .my own is just tell me ur barest minimum n we deal.
Okay then thanks a bunch...

I made my own payment to the hospital (along with the hospital fee) so did not get a chance to negotiate directly with the anaesthesia people. Anyways next time I will be more aggressive...

@ olokings thanks for the response. there was no extra thing done o and I paid the 1500 long before delivery. I am shocked to be getting this extra bill o. I am on the verge of regretting this methodist waka, their billing wahala is too much.
I feel your pain...I also used same hospital and paid US$1,500 way ahead of delivery, with no extra bill

@ologkings, just to clarify, is the name of the anesthesia coy "Greater Houston Anesthesiology"?

So we have been dulling with the US$1,500 that we have all been paying? This is good amunition for 2nd missionary journey

Good day all. I need an advice, travelled to united states and was stamped the normal 6 months stay at the immigration point. Later directed for secondary inspection where my bags were searched and my fitness of stay was found which showed i was 22 weeks pregnant and since i planned returning back in two weeks time.
I told the officer i was, fortunately i wasnt turned back but he reduced mi stay to one month. During my stay, i had an issue that made me to see a doc who told me to stay off stress and rest well. My host and hubby are suggesting i stay back to deliver. but dnt know how to go about, where to go to show that i can pay the bills and the doctor report and all. Because also the cons of overstaying the limited stay to give birth here. Wuld appreciate you can all advice me on what to do.
Really if you did not go for birthing in the first place then come back to Nigeria. No need for quibbling.

The doctor has said you should stay off stress rest well. There is plenty rest in Nigeria.

If you truly went to birth and did not declare at POE and got found out, that's is when your info request here is applicable.

Let's be straightforward when requesting for info on here.

As others have said, you can come back, and then return to the US with better preparation. You still have time, at 22 weeks.

You know how these 419er travel agents are scamming ignorant venturer.
They give them fake correspondence et al n when u get to poe n these things are verified you ll this be found wanting. .and regardless of location, diz ppl don't take nonsense or fraudulent intents fun Nigerians.
Bottom line is you gotta come out straight at all times.
Lemme use dis opportunity to share my latest experience.
...
Mehn! this is something. Was it not on ML home page about a guy too that was profiled in Poland abi na Netherlands.

When women with toddlers will go and be shoplifting ... angry angry angry

Per JFK story, it does not have to be fake correspondence. I suspect that what may have happened is that when they called the hospital and the following ensued:

a) the person that they spoke to does not know jack and gave a wrong quote; or
b) the person gave undiscounted quote over the phone to POE i.e like 15k , wen the quote that was given via correspondence was discounted, maybe like 8k.

Hmm overzealous POE official. I hope this is not their new modus operandi...
