If you choose to upload all the supporting documents from your end, all she needs to go with is her checklist, passport and appointment confirmation.

As regards availability of biometric slot, you have to monitor closely for dates f you choose to go with non paid appointments. But if you do not mind paying for primetime appointments, those are available for everyday.

Thanks so much for your response I really appreciate this.

This makes my life easier smiley

Hello everyone, let me first commend you all for your selfless contributions to make our visa application journey smooth and stress-free. Please I need your help. I was denied UK visa recently and I intend to reapply this month. Attached is the refusal letter. Is it advisable for me to reduce my monthly expenses to N45,000 not minding the initial figure I provided in the previous application? Standing by for your advice. Thank you!

Let me contribute to this. I am not active on this thread however since I have made a request I should also give back.

What I suggest that you do is that you take each item in that refusal letter and address it in a detailed letter / or in the Other section of the form), to accompany your next application. The reference to monthly money is only one of all the issues highlighted.

1. Income is not sufficient issue - you can demonstrate that you have savings to cover the trip (supported by cash in your bank statement which you submit, and that it will not impact your monthly expenses.

2. Looks like the hotel booking was done improperly - state that you have rectified the issue with the hotel booking (ensure that the start and end dates corresponds with the dates you put in your form.

3. Provide a breakdown of the GBP 1,500 (or revised amount) that you intend to spend (return flight ticket, hotel cost (value should tie in with the hotel booking that you submit), list an itinerary of places you want to visit (since you are travelling alone and you don't have family or friends according to your form), costs of places you want to visit, spending money per day, etc etc). This is to show that you have done your homework. The last line in your letter shows that the onus is on you to ensure that you prove without reasonable doubt that you will come back to Nigeria

4. The letter mentioned that you are married - state all your ties in Nigeria and demonstrate that you intend to come back.

Good luck smiley

Hi all, I hope we are all well and keeping safe.

I live in the UK and I am processing renewal for my mum. I am sponsoring her and providing all supporting documents. I sponsored her the last time 2 years ago.

Now, I would like to keep all my documents / information private - not sure who exactly will be assisting her to go to the VFS and I need to be careful..

So, my question is, since I am the one filling the form, if I upload all the supporting documents via TLS, does she need to take any hard copies with her? i.e. does she go with her passport only for biometrics? Or to ask another way, what documents does she need to take in addition to passport?

Also, does anyone have an indication of availability of biometrics slots. I am looking to wrap up the application by tomorrow / Tuesday and book biometrics thereafter.

Many thanks ahead for your help.

feddy27,

I had thought she can travel with the ETC without the US passport, except am wrong..... My line of reasoning is that baby can travel with either US passport or Nigeria Passport. The ETC is in lieu of the Nigeria Passport. US passport can be processed in Nigeria once she arrives

Kindly educate me on this.

Thanks

Not possible. You must get the US passport to travel

ETC is in lieu of Nigerian Visa, not in lieu of a passport.

I arrived Houston on 28th December ....

In all, travelling alone is much more comfortable than this my trip with my battalion (lol), didnt regret it sha, they are worth it.

Apologies for the long story. I am available to answer questions if i omitted any info.

P.S. Houston is freezing.

Well done mama!

On a general note, when using Emirates with long layovers, I advise that one uses the Dubai International Hotel within the airline and forget about that airline hotel voucher (where you have to leave the airport, clear immigration etc)

The hotel is within the airport so no immigration. Also, because the airline has 3 terminals, the hotel has 3 locations within the airport so there will always be one close to your arrival/departure gate.

Also the hotel concierge will meet you at the door of the plane when you land, collect your bags, assist you to the hotel (airport is large so they take you to the closest hotel location.

In my experience, it all took 10 mins to get to the hotel after landing, also when departing I checked out of the hotel 15 mins before boarding commenced.

Drawback? it costs US$98 per day/24 hours. Well worth it for me coming back with a 2 year old and a newborn

Na you know. It’s quarter to new year no energy to drag.

The question you asked was so basic that I genuinely thought you mixed up the dates or something.

To answer your question, yes Ma/sir, you can travel.

Hello house. Please i need your advice. Nigerian passport expires in 11th August 2018 with a valid US Visa. Can one still travel and enter the US with that passport in February 2018 and to return to Naija end of February 2018?

Is this a question

Why will you think that you will not be able to travel in Feb 18 if passport expires Aug 18?

Happy New year in advance to everyone.
Please I need your advice. I applied alone this year in August for B2 visa but was refused. I stated that I was 6weeks pregnant and will be staying for 4month.I was ask if my prenancy was viable and I said No. I am trying to remember some of the questions
Right now I am no longer pregnant but will like to apply next year.My questions are
1.Can I apply when I am 3month pregnant? Note I have issues with retaining my pregnancy but I believe it will be different this time.
2.Can I change my accommodation to another one on my new D160 form?
3.Can I still act as my sponsor since my monthly income is 3times higher than my husband?
4.I am also partner in an car dealship business with my brother, there is a lot of transfer and sometimes my account will be empty. How do I defend that I can have access to cash?
5.How do I defend my career ties I am into Event planning , cake designing aside from car dealership?
Thanks

Viable in lay man terms means that the baby is alive in your belly.

Saying that the baby is not viable means that the baby is otherwise...you get me?

This may be the reason for your denial.

From the questions you are asking, you need to do a lot more research on general visa application processes, not just for birthing visa.

Please what email address did you send the change of intent mail to?

You didn't have to quote the entire post just to ask one question you know. Makes the thread unnecessarily long.

If you will quote, shorten / delete the text in between.

Thanks.

Hello peeps!

Are there any Houston mums (perhaps Oakbend Medical) who have processed LO passport at a passport office rather than the Houston Passport Agency? How long did it take to get the passport?

Thanks!

I’m guessing you meant at the post office rather than the Passport agency?

In that case, it takes 2 to 3 weeks.

This is actually not always true. The hospital can simply charge you a low price and get reimbursed by Medicaid without you knowing. Some hospitals get Medicaid funding precisely to account for “losses” hospitals are expected to incur by offering services to the indigent.

At the same time, there are a number of hospitals that have special packages for cash paying, uninsured patients, irrespective of if one is a citizen or not.

One specific hospital in Houston gives patients a disclaimer letter addressed to the American consulate stating that the cash discount applied was not based on any recourse to government funds or assistance, amongst other caveats.

The key, like you mentioned in an earlier post is to ask, ask and ask again. At every juncture I made very clear to every service provider that I do not qualify for aid of any kind.

Ignorance is no excuse.

Thanks anonymousmum- I will call them again today and hopefully I'm transferred to another person and I'm able to pay with my card. Did they post your zero balance letter to you or you had to go pick it up from their office?

Receipt will be mailed to you instantly, you need to request for the zero balance which will come 2 days later

Just call them with your card ready to pay. I received the same bill in the mail but still paid 1k5 and received my zero balance

Also, their main office is in Dallas so transactions are best done in the phone.

Hello anonymous Mum and everyone, I'm a first time US Mum to be, I completed my Visa application already Thanks

Well I can't say specifically, mine was DropBox under the visa interview waiver program.

To be on the safe side, ensure the picture is uploaded so that you are not disappointed (would be a shame to be turned back based on a technicality)

Just read and read well. Folks here are willing to help when the questions are genuine and have not been previously addressed.

Good morning my people. Pls has anyone renewed visa recently? How did you do it abeg

I renewed recently. Nothing has changed significantly other than the fee (64k chaii)

The only difference now is that when filling the DS 160, there is a last page that requires one to upload a picture. Previously one could bypass this step and bring a hard copy.

Now, it is compulsory to upload a picture, and also bring hard copies along when submitting.

Mine took 4 days.
