Although I'm staunchly a peter obi supporter, the total failure to deliver any of his legacy projects except the Agulu Lake hotel and Onitsha mall completed by Obiano underscores his very poor planning and delivery abilities as a manager.

Compared to Obiano that supervised and COMPLETED his legacy projects without abandoning any to the next administration. Of course, Soludo would not complain if Obiano abandoned his legacy projects for the Soludo administration. But Obiano went ahead and completed his legacy projects so that Soludo can focus on his own projects.

Just imagine how highly Peter Obi would have been rated in projects delivery if he delivered any of his legacy projects of Onitsha, Nnewi, and Awka malls as well as Agulu and Onitsha hotels instead of abandoning them to become the burden of the next government.
You said it all

Hopefully, the Onitsha Hotel will be completed. If the man who bought the property is unable to complete it, the concessioning contract should be revoked. Based on the location of this property and the propensity of becoming a security threat used by criminals to operate in the area.

This is a good instance of why the state government should think very carefully if it wants to allocate the land inside the ICC to a private individual to build a hotel. Some of these "private" companies are 419 outlets that will take the state funds and simply disappear after a while. I think the same shady company Noiz Konsults was awarded the Onitsha Hotel, Ikenga mall, Awka, and the Nnewi mall. All three projects failed! So the state does not need to be told that Noiz Konsults must not be awarded any further state project.

Sometimes, it is always better for the state government to build the hotel itself and then concession out its management to reputable hotel chains like Transcorp-Hilton, Protea, Marriot, Golden Tulip, Sheraton, Radisson Blu, etc. It is dangerous to sell them a piece of land or a hotel that is 90% completed because they might mess you up and leave it as uncompleted. The way they did for the Onitsha Hotel but the Agulu Lake (Golden Tulip) hotel that was first completed by the state, and then handed over to Golden-Tulip for management has been a success story.
Very incisive

Nwokem,
Stop insinuating the airport was substandard. It is not.
All over the world, storms damage building roofs. This isn't even the first time wind storms have damaged the roof of buildings in Nigeria. More will still happen this year. So stop being silly.

All of you rejoicing at windstorm damage at Anambra International airport are pathetic. It clearly exposes your bitterness that Anambra finally has an airport. I have news for you, it will be fixed in less than 2 days. Ndi uchu!
Very true

Officials Of Edo State Health Insurance Commission Visit Anambra State,To Understudy ASHIA

By Chibuzor Okoye (ABS News)

Officials of Edo State Health Insurance Commission are currently on a two-day visit to Anambra state, where they will study the model of operations of the Anambra state Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA)

Speaking during the visit in Awka, the Director General of the commission, Dr. Rock Amegor, represented by his Executive Assistant, Mr. Emmanuel Aigbogun, said that ASHIA remains the most functional health insurance scheme in Nigeria, hence their choice of Anambra state to learn how the agency has achieved a lot in the registration of people from both the formal and informal sectors.

Dr. Amegor who revealed that the Edo State Health Insurance Commission commenced operation in 2021, pointed out that they kicked off with the registration of people from the formal sector and that they now want to extend their services to the informal sector.

Receiving his guests, the Executive Secretary, Anambra state Health Insurance Agency, Dr Simeon Onyemaechi said that ASHIA which was the brainchild of governor Willie Obiano has done tremendously well in so many areas, even as he maintained that the agency has continued to innovate in order to be at par with their counterparts in the developed countries of the world.

Dr. Onyemaechi further noted that his team and that of the team from Edo state will cross-fertilize ideas during their stay in the state for them to be acquainted with what the agency has done right.

Oga,

Believe me, I am not bashing the government. I am saying that someone should call the attention of the contractor to the issue/erosion threat NOW before they leave the site and claim it should be a new contract. We are all interested in this thing getting fixed now that it won't cost anything except telling the contractor to address it, than when millions or billions would be required to address the erosion from taking down the bridge.

The pictures I posted were from the video of yesterday. Obviously, the road marking has not reached the bridge area yet. If you can disprove me and post any pictures today showing the bridge had been marked at this point and the erosion starting aroung the gutter had been addressed, I will be very happy.

OreMI22:
Yes, your observation is absolutely on point!

I hope they use concrete or grass to protect the base of the twin bridges and the drainage channels going into the stream. You could already see that flood is already eating deep beside one of the drainage channels.

You are right that erosion will eventually sweep the sand at the base of the bridges and could cause them to collapse soon. Unless they take precautions now to avoid that eventuality, rather than wait to spend huge money on remediation after erosion has caused huge damage to the bridge.

That is the only problem I have with many Nigerian contractors. Since they are not held accountable to pay if their project collapses after a few years, they turn a blind eye to little precautionary things that will cost next to nothing when done timely to safeguard their project. They will do a good job with the physical structure, but fail to do just a little precautionary step to make sure they protect the bridge from being eroded by stormwater or heavy flood during the peak of the rainy season. Even when it's so obvious to even lay people, that a risk of project failure due to erosion will happen unless the threat is quickly addressed.
This particular bridge picture is like an old content, seeing that the road isn't marked as at the time the coverage was done, compared to the 2nd picture

No, the other access roads to the airport are single-lane roads. The first one that joins the Nteje road in front of Marist Secondary school is almost completed. That is the one Obiano was referring to. Construction on the second one that will connect to Nsugbe (3-3 road) (i.e. short cut from GRA Onitsha) is yet to start.
In his own remarks, the Commissioner for Works, Sir Callistus Ilozumba disclosed that two more dualized roads from Umunya and Nteje respectively would equally lead to the airport while the State government had made several representations to the Federal Government for the dualization of the Onitsha – Aguleri – Adani road with an interchange at the junction of the new road.
Sir Ilozumba also disclosed that the State had secured approval for the airport project and acquired enough land for its construction while the contract for the major road to the facility was awarded to a competent contractor.

I think this is gonna come with water fountain. I think govt house/lodge should also be relocated to that area in my opinion. We need a new Government house, house of assembly around that area. The governors lodge at amawbia has outlived its usefulness. I think Peter obi govt made plans to relocate govt house around there with the ill fated green wood city.
The new three arms zone(government house, HOA, Judiciary) has been ongoing quietly at the area not too far from the Awka Millennium city just close to the British spring college.

Anambra International Convention Center, Awka Nears Completion

By Ejike Abana (ABS Government House Correspondent)

Finishing touches at the Anambra International Convention, Awka, one of the legacy projects of Governor Willie Obiano-led administration, is ninety percent complete.

The hint was dropped when Governor Obiano paid an inspection visit to the site, accompanied by some traditional rulers, led by the Chairman of the South East Tradional Rulers' Council, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe.

The Commissioner for Housing, Architect Michale Okonkwo and the Contractor, Mr. Mark Tu were on ground to recieve and conduct the Governor round the facility.

A renowned Awka stakeholder and former Special Adviser on Inter-Party Affairs, Chief Ben Ndi-Obi, also joined the Governor for the inspection.

On arrival, it was observed that installation of the cooling systems, chairs, sound system, curtains, among other finishing touches were ongoing at the project.

With the notable differences observed, commissioning of the project should be anticipated sooner than expected.
