@ayobase: Souljaboi1 "protest" o...BUT true sha,I never jam aboki mechanic sef. You don see any? |
Often times intending couple s arrive late to the venue (church). In most of the cases, it's the bride to be that is the usual latecomer. The last one I experienced personally, the lady was about 2 hours late. Meanwhile, guests and officiating ministers are usually there waiting. Also, some churches have more than one sets to officiate their marriage ceremony. #I don't do well with the Nigerian time thing. No,not even at a wedding ceremony. I hate to have my time being wasted# Anyway... Many churches have set up different systems of curbing this dilemma. Some, very brilliant but funny while others are interesting yet disturbing. Now,the most baffling is the "hear-says" that one (popular denomination) church's approach is to start the process in the absence of the intending couple and guess what, if the intending couple are yet to arrive still, they will be joined in their absence. 1) Ever heard such rumor? 2) Do you think such joining is legit/acceptable? |
Jenwitemi:hehehehehe. I like the "mythology" part. ![]() |
italo:You mean if the church were to say any woman who puts on trouser will end up in hell OR that owning and watching TV is a sin, I have to find someone, Christian opposed the Church teaching after the first Council meeting held in Jerusalem in Acts15, in order to be able to take my personal stance? . Sorry,I can't find anyone. I give up. I'll take the church's stance. |
Goshen360:I know nau. I know say I no go dey, that na why I no sign up. I been just remember na im I say make I hear jist (as you no give feedback) Me sef just dey return to my FCT state. LOL |
Goshen360 We no hear feedback from the gathering. As I dey oko-afo;badagry now na I'm I remember. |
Toks2008:Choi!!! Cutie is in defence of bride price. I agree with the "pay bride price" argument because not all ladies are priceless. (Hope you get what I'm trying to say). |
damiloladuke:True, and I know that many people know this, they just don't know how to live with it. |
ayobase:Na my mobile do gree me format am. I'll work on it when I get on PC. NairaMode:"REQUIRED"..."ALWAYS" How is it so? |
italo:I thought " We ought to obey God rather than men." (Acts 5:29). . I believe that the "church's" defined teachings are not ALWAYS superior to personal assessment. This is evident in the OT levitical order and in our own time hence "aligning" with such all in the name of "church" will be error and sin. . The issue see here is: Is it possible to have different opinions (and stands) about an issue? . Can one hold circumcision true while another believe otherwise? (Like Peter's group and Paul's) If there are cases like this, does that mean God is causing confusion? I think not. |
zed7:Let it be a spycam though. Video evidence (with audio) is better than audio only. |
coolestrogue: coolestrogue:Don't bother about moving. Coolestrogue is trying to tell you that you might soon be in jail (lolz). |
ATMC:Yes,people's own will and way of life if it is being upheld above God's commandment. By "no effect" I don't mean impotent. |
frosbel:Sometimes the issues end up like "as for me (and my house)..." If you're sure your personal stance is not against the will of God. Yes! |
ATMC:Not if the doctrine is a commandment of men that makes the word of God of no effect. |
THE CHURCH AND THE WORLD I have not been in the church for a long time…. I was not there on the day of Pentecost… I was not there when Brother Stephen had to endure the cruel stones of angry religious people who were mad at his bitings words… I was not present when the church rose in unison to save the head of Peter who was already in the dungeon of Herod Agrippa 2 who had silence the first son of Zebedee among the twelve… I was not among the congregation that listened as elders read from the handwritings of Paul, Peter or John… I have not been in the church for a long time! BUT!!! I have been in the church for some time. Long enough to see the era when the world was different from the church. I saw the days when the world looked at the church with respect and reverence. I saw the days when “born again” experience was the sincere bridge through which men cross from the world to the church. I saw the days of “SU” revival when all truly converted people were so labelled by the world. I saw the days when men respond to altar calls not with chewing gums in their mouths but with tears in their eyes broken and truly submissive before the altar of God. I have not been in the church for a long time! I have not been in the church for a long time. BUT!!! I saw the days when men of God were not men of gold. I saw the days when Reverends were not laughing stocks in the society but men given the honour of the God they truly represent. I saw the days when men went to church to meet preachers and not entertainers. I saw the days when the pulpit was not a place for comic reliefs or centers of business discussions but God’s holy altars from where holy fire proceeded to consume evil works in men’s lives. I saw the days the Spirit of God would expose the secret evils of men when they came to worship and men would not dare come to His presence with sins not yet repented. I saw the days when the church was a centre of transformation and God’s workshop where men’s lives were fabricated and molded after Him. I have not been in the church for a long time. I have not been in the church for a long time. BUT!!! I saw the days when churches were not business centres and human empires. I saw the days when humility was the hallmark of Christian service and men of God were contented with that simple life of Christ and will not hoodwink their hungry congregation to pay through their noses for the luxury and extravagance of pulpit business men. I saw the day when collection of money was never a means for motivating God to answer prayers. I saw days when men pray lifting holy hands and not 1000 euro notes in prayer meetings. I saw days when men of God were empowered by the Holy Spirit to raise men and not trained by godless motivational speakers to raise offerings. I saw the days when Jesus was the centre of all messages, heaven was the centre of all focuses and holiness was the centre of all Christian character. I have not been in the church for a long time! I have not been in the church for a long time! HONESTLY, I don’t know for how long I will remain in the church on this side of eternity. NAY, I do not know for how long the church will remain before the harvest of her Lord. BUT, But my heart bleeds for the modern day church. Oh the church of the computer age. Nay, the church of the ICE age. The church where men play more than pray. The church where holiness is a denominational doctrine. The church where those who speak the truth are extremists and biased. I weep for the modern day church as I see self- adverts and miracle hawking in the name of ministry. I weep as I see the church married to the world and the world enjoying the driver’s seat of the church. I weep when I see a church that is a million miles wide but less than a meter deep. Although I have not been in the church for a long time, I weep brethren for what I see the church turning to in my generation. I weep because my children and their generation do not see what I saw in the days past. I have not been in the church for a long time! I have not been in the church for a long time. BUT!!! I notice everyday that the Bible is the same in every age and generation. I have read times without number what is written in 1 Peter 2:9: “BUT YE ARE A CHOSEN GENERATION, A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, AN HOLY NATION, A PECULIAR PEOPLE; THAT YE SHOULD SHEW FORTH THE PRAISES OF HIM WHO HATH CALLED YOU OUT OF DARKNESS INTO HIS MARVELLOUS LIGHT”. I keep wondering the peculiarity of the church in today’s world. Well, I have not been in the church for a long time! I have not been in the church for a long time. BUT!!! I have been there long enough to know that the Foundation of God still stands sure and also long enough to know that the Lord still knows those who are His and everyone that is named with Christ must depart from iniquity. I have been in the church long enough to understand that not everyone that calls Jesus Lord will enter His heavenly home. For said He “MANY WILL SAY TO ME IN THAT DAY, LORD, LORD, HAVE WE NOT PROPHESIED IN THY NAME? AND IN THY NAME HAVE CAST OUT DEVILS? AND IN THY NAME DONE MANY WONDERFUL WORKS? AND THEN WILL I PROFESS UNTO THEM, I NEVER KNEW YOU: DEPART FROM ME, YE THAT WORK INIQUITY” (Mat 7:22-23). Beloved, how long have you been in the church and what gospel have you been made to believe? I hope it is not one that will put your eternity in serious jeopardy? Think on these things and heed the warning of God from a sincere believer. I have not been in the church for a long time but I desire to be with the Master; my loving Saviour and my Lord throughout eternity. I HOPE THIS IS ALSO YOUR SINCERE DESIRE! P.S. I'm not the author. |
Ephemmm:While it is good to look before one leaps, he can't be too sure that he'll be able to sustain anything. No! not even assured of life itself. If he waits long enough and eventually gets what he wants (employed partner and more money for himself) let's say at age 39, does he think that life will wait for him? Him go see say old age no easy to train children. He will surely regret not having children earlier by that time (especially after he understood that money would have come anyways). |
Jusmudi:So can you tell us the result of the queen's request from her son? Please quote the bible verses following the one you quoted above. SMH Jusmudi:By non-catholics,which group are you referring to? Praying through their deceased parents...? You are unbelievable. On your way into the ditch that you gladly look forward to falling into. P.S. Your OP is all a catechism joke I suppose. |
ProfessorPeter:Ok,now its clear to me. All na religious bondage. Doctrine of men is not the standard of God...BUT you are also yet to show me where the bible says that DOWRY validates marriage before God and man. |
ProfessorPeter:The question is not even about it being sin in the first place. It's about what makes two become one and at what point the joining occurs. Many references in the scripture. |
Processor01:Infact bro, betrothal is on the same level as introduction (formal declaration of interest in marriage witnessed by families. Engagement literary means connected. When people are connected, why do they need "white" connection again? It is because we adopted the "white" wedding that our faith and practice was relegated and reduced to semi-authentic. "The union is dedicated to God by the couple themselves" - this statement is the over-all truth. |
ProfessorPeter:Same way "white wedding" was copied (no big deal with the copying other than making it a standard and a tool for discrimination and blackmail by some) so was payment of "dowry" copied. This practice has long found it's way into the society that it's hard to divorce it. However, marriage is established between two people mainly (regardless of white wedding or dowry being paid) when some steps are taken, which are God's principle of "two becoming one". Honoring ones parent and societal practices (which in itself not a sin) is ideal in the sight of God hence they are also be permitted in the sight of God BUT they are not spelt out as a requirement by God in the scripture. NOT even dowry was commanded. |
IMHO, AY is overhyped. QED |
hifaif:At the bolded, are you referring to verse 2? "For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him." If yes, it doesn't mean that he is "so ugly" rather it means that he was as ordinary a man as any other person. He was so an everyday man that someone needed to point him out (Judas) among his brethren. He was down to earth. Son of man--a real human without exceptional beauty being God in the flesh. I hope that helps. |
Flashh:What did you deduce from my post? |
christemmbassey:Sir,with this allocation, your cup will surely run over. @goshen: I chose the venue already. Suntan beach under the 7th coconut tree. Lol. Pay for my flight,I go come. Convention of truth. |
Flashh:Ok sir but I still insist that "twas your kind of person that sank the titanic". I actually hope you understood my words else you only read and being defensive as I expected... |
Flashh:Twas your kind of person that sank the titanic. @OP: hard work indeed. Let us all labour in that kind of sphere of life and see where we'll all remain. Lucky him,he made money but he has not contributed much and he's dry (my opinion). Abeg, where better comedians dem dey? |
I go come if you go let me coordinate collection of tithes and offering ![]() |
The bride and her flower girl both got a smooch on the big day. (Photo: Leah Bullard Photography) Love was in the air for this bride — and her flower girl. When Tennessee mother Michelle Hall got married on Saturday, she wasn’t the only one getting a kiss. Her 4-year-old daughter, Anderson, decided to get a smooch of her own, too, and surprised everyone when she planted one on the ring bearer, Ike. Thankfully, the moment was caught on camera. ***Things dey happen*** cc: farano, Rocktation, Ishilove
