Thief Obasanjo met Nigeria with Oil -rich Bakassi land, he gave it away.
Thief Obasanjo met Nigeria with our national Air carrier Nigeria Airways - he liquidised it.
Thief Obasanjo met Nigeria with relatively strong currency and low fuel prices; he devalued Naira from $1= N22 to $1=N135 whilst at the same time increasing fuel prices from N16 per litre to N75 per litre. YOU are extremely ignorant. |

PapaBrowne: I like this infomation because it exposes to us how poor we are as a nation and explains why we don't have the kind of infrastructure you see in other countries. Some people want us to be like UAE or USA or UK overnight without realizing that we are not as productive as these countries.
And for those who think that this poverty is a failure of Government alone should ask themselves what they've done in their own capacity to grow this country.
Look at the collective revenue of the top 10 companies(Sales) in Switzerland and you'll understand better the meaning of productivity. These companies would be taxed by their governments and in turn would contribute to their budgets which would then reflect in things like infrastructure, social services etc.
Switzerland top 5 Revenues Vitol9Commodities): $303 Billion Glencore(Commodities): $217 Billion Trifigura(Commodities):$122 Billion Nestle(Food): $100 Billion Zurich IG(Finance): $70 Billion Novartis(Pharma): $57 Billion Roche(Pharma): $50 Billion UBS(Finance): $48 Billion CreditSuisse(Finance): $42 Billion ABB(Power): $40 Billion
Each an everyone of these companies bring more money to their countries than all the oil that Nigeria produces. To think that the population of Switzerland is just 8 million.
The logic is simple. Only a productive nation can have big budgets to spend on infrastructure and social services. And the private sector is the harbinger of productivity. The Governments only responsibility is to create an enabling environment. When as a nation we start choosing production over consumption, then we would begin to see changes. We have a funny culture that see our capital being allocated to over priced real estate and cars. Every jeep you see roaming our streets could have started a small factory. Every property sold in Lagos could have started medium sized factory. Our cultures must change for us to see better budgets and in turn better infrastructure. And,listen i know more about infrastructure than anyone i know. i studied development for quite a long time. nigeria produces way more money than any country in the world in natural resources. 27 billion or whatever you said is just what they spend on the budget.DO YOU REALLY THINK THOSE CORRUPT NIGERIANS LEASDERS ARE GOING TO REALLLY USE ALL THERE INCOME ON OUR NEEDS. You need to release reality that nigeria has way more(up to fifty percent more)money than it need to develop itself in a year. And do you know how much the swiss economy is worth,600 billion dollars. So i have no idea how you got such results of those so called top 5 revenues. |

Some residents of Court of Appeal Estate II in Kubwa, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja got the shock of their lives on Saturday as bulldozers from the Department of Development Control pulled down their buildings without notice. Those affected were living along railway corridors in the area.
An eye witness, Kingsley Ohen, who is a younger brother to one of the victims, said he received a distress call from his sister that their building was being pulled down.
“When I arrived at my sister’s house, I was shocked at what was going on in the area. I met her devastated and confused due to the suddenness of the demolition. As you can see, everybody is running around due to confusion caused by their sudden appearance,” Kingsley said.
Although he agreed that they were given until this August to vacate the area, no actual date was given and residents assumed that it would be the last day in August.
Mrs. Justina Acha, one of the victims, said, “I was cooking, when members of the development control arrived our estate with bulldozers and mobile policemen and announced to us that they are to pull down our buildings. We were confused and begged them to give us more time to vacate since we are still in August but they refused and started demolishing our houses,” she said.
When asked if they were properly notified of the demolition date and compensated, Mrs. Acha said they paid N5.5 million to owners of 2-bedroom flats and N6 million to owners of 3-bedroom flats. She claimed, however, that they were underpaid as that amount was not enough for such houses anywhere within Kubwa.
Some other victims where unable to speak with Nigerian Telegraph as they were all busy salvaging what they could of their property before the buildings were finally pulled down.
When contacted, officials of the Development Control carrying out the demolition exercise said that the demolition commenced yesterday afternoon but declined further comments. They referred Nigerian Telegraph to their office for more comments on the matter.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nathaniel Temije, an assistant director, Monitoring and Enforcement said, on Friday, that all buildings on the railway corridors would be removed to pave way for ongoing construction of rail lines in the territory...

f18spitfire: GUSAU—Senator Kabir Marafa, representing Zamfara Central Zone, named by a national daily as one of the 24 Senators allegedly collecting N35 million as salaries monthly, has threatened to resign if it is proven that he actually collects such amount. Marafa, who spoke in a chat with newsmen, wondered why the said newspapers could publish such a fabricated story to cause trouble. According to him, even if senators were collecting what the paper had claimed, he saw nothing bad in it, because none of them had requested for it and were not paying themselves or asked how much they should be earning. The senator who was in Gusau to celebrate the Sallah, also noted that it was better for the media house to talk about the increasing corruption bedeviling the country, instead of such mischievous publication against the senators, describing it “as baseless, un-true and an attempt to tarnish the image of the senate.” On the issue of the controversial early marriage, the lawmaker said: “We have different cultures and religions and we live peacefully with one another and you cannot compel me to do things the way you do, or force me to either be a Muslim or a Christian.” www.vanguardngr.com/2013/08/n35m-salary-senator-vows-to-resign-if/ THATS NONSENSE,IN FACT WE ALL KNOW HE EARNS WAY MORE A MONTH.NIGERIA |

EXCERPTS
What if I tell you that General SANINEGERI A MOHAMMED ABACHA, Nigeria’s seventh military head of state and the most popular Kanuri person in the world was regarded as the most patient man on earth? My Mum, the Ogidi herself never forgets her airport encounter with him, she was thoroughly stupefied at his height. It was fifteen years ago. A man of diminutive stature (5ft, 6inches). A man of fire, iron and steel, the General lorded absolute power and unbridled authority over 120 million souls. Not even Generals dare cross his path. Those who did, knelt and wept before him while he offered them tissue paper to wipe their salty tears. Not even a plea from the Pope could melt his heart. Mandela begged him to no avail. No one messed with Abacha. He was gentle. Listening. Cunning. Daring. Attentive. Dangerous. Brave. Brutal. When an American ambassador was irritating the late maximum tyrant, he almost paid with his life. But who was SANI ABACHA, Nigeria’s most enigmatic ruler, and the first head of state to die in office without violence (a man of many firsts as you will soon see)? Why and how he almost blew General Diya out of existence? Why his last son was shot in 2011? His links with America’s most secretive Christian group, Boko Haram and Imam Abubakar Shekau, its leader and Nigeria’s most wanted man?Abacha was the first officer in the military to rise from the rank of a 2nd lieutenant to that of a General without skipping any rank.....

yomalex: US talk show host Oprah Winfrey says she was the victim of racism during a recent visit to Switzerland.
She said an assistant refused to serve her in an upmarket handbag shop in Zurich.
Winfrey, one of the world's richest women, was apparently told the bags on display were "too expensive" for her.
Her claims, made to a US television programme, come amid a political row over plans by some Swiss towns to ban asylum-seekers from some public places.
The BBC's Imogen Foulkes in Berne says human rights groups have likened the plans - which include banning asylum-seekers from swimming pools, playing fields and libraries - to apartheid.
Proof Winfrey, who stars in Lee Daniels' new film The Butler, visited Zurich last month to attend singer Tina Turner's wedding. The Oprah Winfrey Show is not shown in Switzerland.
Winfrey said she left the shop calmly without arguing, but that the experience was proof that racism continues to be a problem.
"There's two different ways to handle it," she said. "I could've had the whole blow-up thing... but it still exists, of course it does."
Her claims are a public relations disaster for Switzerland, our correspondent says.
About 48,000 people are currently seeking asylum in Switzerland. It has twice as many asylum seekers as the European average.
Officials say the curbs, which will also see asylum-seekers housed in special centres, are aimed at preventing tensions with residents.
The country's asylum laws were tightened in June.
