Doesn't change the fact that you've been living under the rock. For you to say Peter Obi made you understand that we have Nigerians in the NBA

Brainwashed! The best thing that happened to me is dropping out of school in my 200level. School is stupidity until proven otherwise. Nobody should be proud of going to school. You see this your yeye stage I left it far back 16yrd ago. Life expectancy my ass. There are more people dying annually in America than Nigeria. A total of over 3million people die annually in America compare to less than 600k in Nigeria. You know school has brainwashed you to a stage that you can't think for yourself. Like bullshit UN and IMF tells you 70% of Nigerians live on less than $1 (400 naira) a day. Not even a day and of baby in Nigeria will survive on 400 naira a day. Just continue being fools and idiots. Run around with your stupidity. Wear it like a badge of honor

Lol, am I surprised?
Hell, no.... Nigerians dont agree with statistics that are not in their favour, nothing new here.

Believe whatever you want and ignore the hard facts.

Brother, any serious school will indicate there scholarship offer in the Admit Letter.
CC: titialayo
This is not always the case, for some schools the timeliness for admission decision and funding decision differs.
So, it is very possible to get only admission from a well meaning school and still have funding decision pending. It all has to do with the timeline of decision for the department/school.

I have one last addition: if you like pepper, please just buy loads of pepper, and save it in a Ziplock bag. If not, you will have to look for "effective" pepper.

Effective Pepper? Buy Habanero at Walmart (or elsewhere). Thank me later cheesy

I think it all depends. Some times people are lucky but I think rice would be removed especially in Nigeria. So just put a quantity you can forfeit in case it is removed. There is rice in America. Also, pay attention to your baggage allowance. Palm oil will be removed but sometimes you may be lucky. Don't carry anything chicken or beef or carry anything that has a chicken flavour or chicken drawn on the package. Personally, I Would just advice you carry the native foodstuff you may not see in your community in America like Ogwusi, Ogbono, bitter leaf, stockfish etc and dry it very well. If you are carrying beans make sure you pick the beans yourself so that there is no bean weevil. Once your bags are searched and any bean weevil is found you might loose all your foodstuff. Just take what you can survive the first few weeks or months on. The rest can be air cargo to you buy your family or bought in the African stores abroad. Buy zip lock and label all your items for easier identification. sometimes wrapping your foodstuff in black nylon seems suspicious. If you really want to carry palm oil make sure you put it in the freezer to freeze very well. you may be lucky Nigerian customs won't remove it. I would advise you to carry little. You can watch youtube videos for other clues.

Thanks for the tips

Good Morning People of God,

I am in the process of packing my bags. I just want to know if raw rice will be allowed.
I know there is rice in the US but Christmas rice full ground here and I wish to pack some with me.

If anyone has the time you can also help me with a list of foodstuffs that are prohibited particularly in the US

Hello friends,

Can anyone please help me with sample letter for statement of purpose.

Please I need it urgently, I wouldn't mind if you share with me via my mail, hairbyuj@gmail.com

It is highly unlikely anybody on this forum will take this type of your request seriously.
There are a lot of samples you can draw from online to develop yours. Besides SOPs are program specific so you won't find a one size fits all writeup anywhere. You have to put in the work and make your findings

little advice:

Dress smart, these guys are looking for people that will travel and do well for themselves academically, dress like a student. I noticed a guy wearing a native and leather slips was denied even with his travel history.

Dress how you want to be addressed!

Above all, it can only be GOD!

Go with grace!

Congratulations on your visa approval.
To prevent misinformation, what do you mean by "Dress like a student"?

I went for my interview in a native attire, had a nice time with the VO and got my visa approved. You also made reference to leather slips ...LOL cheesy , you've forgotten you stood in front of the VO and the barricade between the two of you will make it highly unlikely for him to even see whatever footwear you have on.

I'm not advocating shabby dressing, just dress comfortably.... not an outfit that will make you uneasy because you want to please one VO.

F1 and F2 approved, 13th November.

I got to the embassy around past 7am, my interview is scheduled for 11am. I chilled till past 9am, then went towards the gate to join the queue but there was no queue. There were few people, so there was no waiting. Did the necessary biometrics around 9.30am.

VO: Good morning, pass me your passport

Me: Good morning , I passed our passports, he scanned the Ds 160 and asked us to remove mask to verify our faces.

Why are you going to US?
Me: I am a current PhD student of FSU, mathematics department, my area of concentration is Financial maths, VO cuts in

VO: what does your concentration mean, do you do some kind of research
Me: My PhD is mathematics and my research area is in financial maths, where I will work on predictive models for financial risks. I will take my coursework and at the end I will work on my research.

VO: does it use maths and stats
Me: Yes, it uses mathematical and statistical models to ...

VO: when did you start your program ? Tell me about it
Me: I started August 2020, I am registered for 9 credit units, 3 courses, I think I mentioned the course names.
VO: I see you have funding, is it a tuition waiver

Me: Yes I do, my funding covers both my tuition and living expenses.
VO: Asks my husband, what do you do?
Him: I am the CEO of my company. We run a distribution channel for a number of companies...(he continues explaining before the VO cuts in)

VO: What would you be doing in US?
Him: I want to follow them to ensure they settle in to school properly , in a few weeks, I will be back to my work. My business is automated, so I can monitor while in US.

VO: Asks Me? Have you travelled outside of Nigeria.

Me: Yes, I have. South Africa, went for my master's.

VO: Asks Husband? Ever been out of Nigeria before?
Him: No

VO: I am approving your visa, pay reciprocity fee. Congratulations and enjoy Florida

Me: thank you

@zeelady thank you for the encouragement

I just need to clarify this. How then would I pick up the document if I make use of my home address. I thought I was expected to submit one of FedEx's pick up locations in Nigeria.

Please do explain further. Thanks

Normally, it will get delivered to your home address. My I-20 was shipped from US to my home addressby FedEx.

Chill and remain calm, you'll definitely get a mail and SMS when it is ready
The protest affected their processing also. My visa was approved on the 16th but I didn't get any mail/SMS until Wednesday afternoon, while someone that interviewed the same 16th got his own mail on Tuesday. I eventually picked it up yesterday afternoon. So just chill for now
