A man has been arrested by the police for Maltreatment and starving his 2-year-old son identified as simply as Ziko.

The man and the child’s stepmother has been accused of constantly inflicting pains on the toddler and starving him for reasons unknown.

The couple and the abused child lives at No 113 Okumagba Avenue, Ojabugbe junction off Deco Road, Warri, Delta State.

Eyewitness account reveal that couple will always attack the neighbors for giving food to child and would starve him all day.

Freshrepoters however learnt that the biological mother of the child left him with the father and is out of reach at the time of this report.

However, after series of calls to human rights activists, the child has been rescued and taken to the hospital for proper medical attention.

The father of the child that looked so malnourished at the time of the rescue is arrested and detained at B division Warri.

Residents of Ebonyi state destroyed fulani houses and chased them out of the state.

Some residents of Ebonyi State went tough on the Fulani herdsmen residing in some parts of the state.

Some of the state residents went on rampage, destroying properties belonging to the fulani herders.

The people who sack the herders from their community cite violence as the motive behind their action.

They accused the herders of depriving their fathers and mothers the opportunity to farm in their own land.

Members of the community also vowed to follow the fulani herdsmen to their destination so they won’t come back again.

All destroyable properties belonging to the fulani’s were destroyed by the indigenes who asked them to go and meet governor Dave Umahi.

Barakat Melojuekun, the 16-year-old girl who accused the Ogun state commissioner for environment, Hon. Abiodun Abudu Balogun for attempting to rape and use her for rituals has come out to appeal to Nigerians to allow the matter to rest.

The girl who said this in another video posted online, appreciate Nigerians for their concern about the matter but urged them to please allow the issue rest.

Melojuekun had accused the commissioner for harassing her sexually with the aid of other two persons.

However, the commissioner denied the sexual harassment allegation leveled against him by the 16 year old girl.

The commissioner denied the allegation in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Saturday, January 2.

He said, “Whilst taking cognizance of the principle of a suspect being presumed innocent until proven guilty and the public statement issued by Hon. Abudu-Balogun denying the allegation, as a government with zero tolerance for gender-based violence and indeed any criminality, the suspension is a further demonstration of the commitment of Prince Dapo Abiodun Administration to fairness, equity, justice and the rule of law, no matter who is involved.”

Reacting to this, the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun suspended the commissioner to allow him cooperate fully with the independent investigation being carried out by the police.

Moses Mfe, a robbery suspect, was shot by the police during arrest and left to die with the injury without any treatment at the police custody, according to a lawyer Micheal Utsaha who presented the case on Thursday at the ongoing independent investigative panel on SARS and other units of police in Abuja.

Utsaha told the panel that the murder was committed by Abba Kyari-led IGP Intelligence Response Team who arrested the suspect in November 2019 in Markudi, Benue State on suspicion of conspiracy and armed robbery.

He said the suspect died slowly and painfully with the gunshot injuries without medical treatment.

Utsaha said late Mfe was arrested alongside his friend Raphael Tersoo by the police team at different locations in the state, adding that he once visited the two suspects at the Suleja correctional centre.

He said that the police had refused to disclose the news of the suspect's death to his family until the matter was brought before the panel where police admitted that the suspects died in the cell.

Utsaha told the panel that the second suspect had since been in detention and had not been charged to the court.

He said an order of the court was obtained to move suspects from police detention to prison when SARS was disbanded.

Following the fear and concerns expressed by the lawyer over the status and well-being of the second suspect, chairman of the panel, Suleiman Galadima, ordered the police to produce the suspect before the panel as the matter was stood down for two hours.

Upon the arrival of the suspect at the panel and having satisfied that he was still alive, the chairman ordered the police to arraign him before a court of competent jurisdiction in Makurdi where the alleged offence was committed by next Wednesday.

Galadima said the bail would be considered by the court and adjourned the matter to March next year.

Deputy commissioner of police and leader of the Inspector-General of Police's Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, was represented by inspector Mohammed Seidu while inspector Vincent Makinde who arrested the suspects was absent.
