OlowoB: You need to slow down madam, I think it is the school that is giving him scholarship. His options are limited and YES there are many schools in UK (I know many) where the international department are so slow in dealing with issues.
Please bear in mind that there are many schools in UK. Aphrodite007: If I had a scholarship and all I had to do is pick a uni to study at, I would make them beg me to study in their uni. There’s almost no school I know about that takes longer than 5 working days to respond to you, unless the school is backwards. You are doing hem a favour by picking them to study in their uni, not the other way around so you should be served accordingly.
Unless the school is the one giving you the scholarship, I advise you go to a school that would treat you like a king. So yes, if a school hesistates to respond to you, mail them explaining your displeasure at their service, then look for another school.
I know how my school pampered me throughout, even when I was sick. I had small problem with my housemates and they sent me vouchers and a letter of apology. Even my friend that had problems with UKVI, my school sorted it out immediately! I mean, You are paying money to study, it’s not free, you deserve to be served better! Simple. Emphasis on the bolded. Cos, duh, If a school is giving you scholarship you have no right to complain as a beggar is not a chooser. I expressly stated that one is at liberty to complain if they are paying the tuition or they owned the scholarship. |

mzapplication: Hello good people,
You may recall my "saga" of making the wrong application category - Settlement instead of Tier 2 Dependent.
I am here to share the good news that I have finally gotten the correct visa (within 2 weeks of applying). In everything I thank God.
I now need some advice..
As we all know the vignette visa required us to travel within the 30 day period which I have done, with my 2 children. I have collected all of our BRPs. We stayed for a week.
The issue now is that I had to come back to Nigeria to tidy up a few affairs, close out on projects at work, clear the Nigeria house, sort out some family matters.
I reckon I will be out for about 2 months - after which I will move to the UK finally. My husband is still working and living in the UK
I hope I am not flouting any rules? I am seriously considering getting a lawyer considering the costly mistake of earlier...
Many thanks house. As far as you’ve gotten your BRP and don’t stay in Nigeria for more than 6 months, you’re cool. Enjoy. |

Gbemmy120: Hmmm, thank you for taking out time to explain. But what if I decide to neglect the visiting visa and start afresh as an intending immigrant, what other options are there or do you advice asides marriage? You can come in if you have expertise in IT, med or nursing. Write the appropriate health exams. Apply to the NHS (I think) to be on a tier 2 visa. Or you can come in via the tier 1 visa (read more about it). I’m sure the experts that came in through these methods can explain further. |

akfaa: Hello Aphrodite007, I understand your concern, however it's unfair for you to respond with "Nigerians are good at tolerating bad customer service" in this situation. What would you have me do? Go to the UK without a visa and demand to speak with someone? Or reject my admission, scholarship and cancel my visa application? The most I can do is send emails and call. If I had a scholarship and all I had to do is pick a uni to study at, I would make them beg me to study in their uni. There’s almost no school I know about that takes longer than 5 working days to respond to you, unless the school is backwards. Gbemmy120: Good day house, I am new to this thread but i obviously need all the help i can get. I have read through all the pages and i know i still have hope. Lol, I am looking at settling in the UK and i have a 2 years valid visa and also Family over there. But my fears are how possible is it to migrate legally considering my visa is for visiting. Do i need a BRP and if yes, how do i go about it? Thank you in anticipation! Next to impossible. Especially now that the UK GOV has tied the visa to all essentials (bank opening, job application, study, drivers license). Your visiting visa permits you to visit and not to work or study. So no way. If you over stay koko for you. With your visit visa, you may not be able to open a bank account (unless maybe those online ones). You will not be able to apply for a job because everyone will ask to see your work permit. Heck you won’t even be able to get an apartment so you’ll forever live with the family member. The only way out is to marry a citizen and hope and pray you finally have a way to stay (maybe through the kids and after 10 years). Mean while you still can’t work unless you do underground work which only happens down south. If them nab you before your miracle husband/wife show, we will be expecting your gist about how the flight was back home. You’re welcome. |

akfaa: Thank you, pls what's the name of your uni? And could you tell me what your case was and how the int'l office helped. I'm asking because my uni's (BCU) int'l office hasn't been helpful, if I can mail them and let them know what type of service other universities are offering their int'l student, that may help. I've already requested that UKVI escalate the case. You haven’t even entered the school and they are treating you badly, when you become a full blown student, what would happen? Nigerians are very good at tolerating bad customer service. It is well with your studies. |

Mind you am applying for a monster degree, I wouldn't if I know my academic ability is not up to the task.. All am asking is just a Simple question for those who knows about it and maybe someone who has experienced such super priority visa. Baba you will be surprised at the kind of people that come here. Lots of people are very scared of interviews and look for ways to dodge it. Apologies for the rushed assumption, but na question we been ask you! |

Am only thinking about the possibility of an interview in this short period of time.. Please confirm before you answer my question . Only if you have seen someone who apply through the newly lunched super priority.. I Are you not paying for the service, why are you then worrying about whether an interview will hold or not, If you intent is not to dodge the interview. Smh Just so you know, whether or not you’re paying for priority or super super super priority, it only means that your visa will come out faster. It doesn’t affect whether you would have an interview or not! |

monchat: Ps dear friends, a friend of mine that the hubby lives and works in the UK said, the hubby is unable to get accomodation beacuse of he has a very bad credit history which has made it very difficult for him to get an apartment because of this issue my friend said she is unable to visit her husband. I advised her to tell her hubby to look for one room self apartment so that she can visit but she said the hubby refused her coming to stay in one room apartment with him, that it is against the law. She has been so sad. Ps I want to ask how difficult it is for one to rent apartment with bad credit? If it is very difficult how can one rent with bad credit Does it mean that the hubby can not rent again? Ps I need advice. Moreso she complained that the hubby is not doing his permanent job again, he now changed to agency job. His reasons is beacuse they pay agency staff well than permanent staff, ps how true is that? The hubby works as health care assistant in the hospital. Is health care assistant really a good job, because she complained to me that they d'nt pay him well. Ps dear friends I need y advice to really know how I can talk to her. This is a very sad story and I’m sorry but the man is not trying at all. He doesn’t seem to be making an effort to get her over because there are ways around this. First of all, he can apply for some credit building cards that can fix his credit rating with time. This isn’t the best option but If he is responsible enough, this might go away. Secondly, because he has a bad credit rating doesn’t mean he can’t get a place to live (also it’s a not true that he can’t live with his wife in a one-bed apartment, I’m telling you, there’s something fishy going on with him- anyway not my business but it could help her to really investigate. So that she can either manage the marriage or walk out). Anyway, To fix his house problem he can rent an apartment with someone that has a good credit score (he must have friends or colleagues), then he would get a guarantor and pay more deposit. Thirdly, if that money was not gotten through mago-mago means, all he has to do is explain to the bank and give them proof. I work in a bank so I know first that that this would have been rectified if he had provided proof of the legit business that gave him such money. Finally, agency workers do get paid a lot more, however there’s more security in working on a permanent basis, it can go a long way in making the bank or landlord see his a credible. So my dear, the problem isn’t how the UK is unfair to him, but the fact that uncle is not being truthful to Aunty about his circumstances. |

umarwy: I had the money in my Dom account, but it's now transferred to my Barclays. I still have the money just that it's not in the same account again You shouldn’t have moved the money anywhere. If they call your bank to verify the amount, what would the bankers say? Even if they don’t call your nigerian bank, if the bank statement surpasses 31 days before your interview appointment or submission, it becomes completely useless. To resolve this, you’ll have to leave that money in your Barclays for another 90 days, print the Statement and submit it for the application. Or move the money back to your dom wait 90 days and print it. Dunno why you were rushing. |

If it wasn't for this forum, I wouldn't now be able to finally deserve some peace after all I've been through. Being in a long distance is one thing but being young (we in our mid 20's) and being from two different cultures (Hubby: Nigerian and me: Caribbean) added more to rollercoaster.
Nevertheless, my husband was finally granted his visa today. There's no words that can describe how I'm feeling right now.
Here's our timeline (standard):
Online Submission: 9th February Biometrics: 13th February Documents sent: 19th February Decision made: 11th May Passport ready for collection: 11th May Passport collected with visa: 11th May Total: 61 working days
God bless everyone who contributes and good luck to everyone who is waiting for a response. Awww congrats love. wish you guys the best. |

We have opted to not collect any benefits till I qualify for ILR just to avoid any problems with renewals. Good move. Just best to not give them any leverage at all. I know I don’t know the law so I prefer to just be careful until after the 5 years. There’s nothing like being too careful. |

Oh please relax dear. I really don’t know. Some lady mentioned that your partner (whobis a brit) can access public funds (obviously!) but whether or not that would be frowned on by the Home Office or UKBA is beyond me. And if it is an admission when do I need to start processing for Visa. I also applied for a scholarship in there university but have not gotten any news from them since then. Please someone should help a confused fellow here m If you read the document, they would tell you that it’s a conditional offer pending you paying a certain amount or do something- it’s in plain English. Do what they want and they will make an unconditional offer and send your CAS to you so you can apply for a visa. |
