airsaylongcon:And here I thought we were Bonnie and Clyde. Well thank goodness you used two of my all time favorites in your analogy. Em & Jay Bdw I ddnt snap (or I should say I don't snap) it was more like a "surely I'm not the only one that thinks this" kinda moment (ok maybe I did snap just a little bit, lol). Well, that moment's passed. Interestingly I noticed a good number of people who, ..well let's leave that before folks start on how I'm "insulting" their central repository. What's done is done, what needs doing needs doing; best to get on that. xoxo |
Ok, I'm done with this. Sayonara, guys (candidates). Wish y'all all the best. Don't forget to write or call. xoxo |
Hi kaitung, maybe if you read the post again or extend your 'investigation' to preceding posts you'll make the connection and read the right context in that situation. You say it's not by speaking big English? Really? Should I have written in parables or material balance equations instead with Qs, Ms, and Ds as variables? Would that have been better for you? Am I being insulting right now? Are you feeling challenged? Upset maybe? Now you have a little idea of what it feels like. "Let's not suffer the righteous", gosh the pedestal you imagine yourself on must be BurjKhalifa-esque. |
It's amazing how someone will assume an adversarial position when presented with a contrary position to what he/she does n believes is right. You pick out individual words in my post and somehow convince yourself there's an insult there. If i truly wanted to insult you, trust me you wouldn't need to read a second time to grasp it. I only said, if x is the course of action taken to somehow protect your anonymity, wouldn't that be somewhat defeated when it's talked about plainly subsequently? Please let me know where the insult is there? I mentioned geezers, true but did you notice "s"? Am I the only one that has seen strange monikers coming here to post quarters, months, and dates and the rest of the nonsensical stuff i see to rile people up? How on earth would you assume I referred to you? You go off at the slightest hint of a contrary opinion, insinuating ingratitude in us candidates? Why? Do you really want yes men all the time? I assume you've been in a relationship before, do all your friends or love interests acquiesce to your every suggestion? Or is it just an attitude you reserve for people you perceive as subordinates? Come on, if it's subservience you want I'll gladly tow that line but please don't accuse me of being something I'm most definitely not. I'm no ingrate, please don't make me out to be one. |
Why bother speaking in "codes" when a full NL page will be employed discussing the "codes" after itz bn decrypted. Going through Dplacement's posts one can surely see the difference. Basically I see all the codes, puzzles, riddles, and parables as just folks trying to yank pplz chains. Dont know what anonymity you're going to get from it since ppl r definitely going to speak plainly about it and your initial "code" is easily traceable by just a click (or tap). Honestly it's nt the wait that's truly irritating, it's the geezers who come here with differentiation, integration, and relativity equations all under the pretense of giving candidates inside info we cdnt really give a rat's tail about. We'll b contacted when we'll be contacted period. |
airsaylongcon:Congrats.. Gr8 news. |
forkadict:Alrighty then.. Good one. |
forkadict:Ok, i would have compared like for like if the rise of say the software Britannica was responsible for Encarta's discontinuation - it wasn't. Wikipedia's rise made it unprofitable for Encarta to continue in that sphere. Now you claim I said Wikipedia doesn't care abt money, now it seems you're confusing "liking money" with having need for the absolute lifeblood of any non-profit venture which is operating capital, which Wikipedia even solicits for (ever notice the donate button on the site?). Now Wikipedia receives content freely from contributors like linux distros like Kubuntu receive code to improve upon versions of the operating system free from the community which after "curating" will include in subsequent releases if they so wish. Wikipedia operates the same way with their content. The WikipEdia model clearly disrupted Encarta's model just as Uber's taxi model is causing major disruptions in the traditional cab model (remember the French cabbie protests from last yr?). Ever seen those highly technical wikis on topics like say engineering or science? You think hippies gave Wikipedia that content? They came from experts in that particular field and were given free for the sake of spreading knowledge and not for money. That's what got Encarta discontinued and that's the point my argument made. Awaiting yours. |
freeradical:I watched a TED talk recently about motivation and what you said is truly spot on, if i remember correctly, the guy closed with the example of Microsoft's Encarta that employed thousands of experts and professionals to give content to that software, and Wikipedia which basically curates what it's given free of charge and even sometimes relies on donations to stay up. Today Wikipedia has totally eclipsed Encarta (which is basically a discontinued software). So if the money as a motivation argument was so solid how come it didn't work there, where the same experts and pros moved from Encarta that paid them for content to Wikipedia that takes money from them in the form of donations to the platform, you know? |
forkadict:I don't think anyone prefers working without earning much. The fact that one would say money isn't the primary reason for getting up in the morning shouldn't really be interpreted to mean he would settle for meagre pay for his/her work (no one does that). That's totally inaccurate. Maybe it could be near the mark in Nigeria where the slave mentality is still paramount, (I say slave mentality in the sense that the employer kinda treats the employee like he owns his/her soul) money could be the all in all in such situations but that kinda explains a lot of the wrongs that go on in Nigeria. The employer knows the employee works simply for the pay and cannot wait to clock out each day so he stifles payday looking for new ways to screw the employee over cos the employee subconsciously doesn't see his/herself-worth in terms of ability/input but in terms of money and sees his/her employer as the fountain where the money comes from instead of vice versa; so as a result having the self confidence to stand one's ground in the professional setting is as probable as getting struck by lightning three times in one day and at three different places, the self confidence to improve on one's ability isn't thr cos the employer swindles 1 time and again so as to keep one in a state of dependence (slave). We only see few cases where some breakout. Even in companies like Sch...., Hall..., Exx.. as Nigerians you all earn nowhere near what an American working for the same company in America earns, it's only in NLNG that i observed that Nigerians there earn very close to the industry's average (note the average?). That said, back then I knew Shell guys that basically live on their salaries month after month, these are sophomore guys that were earning at least 1.5m basic salary, the only investing some do is the monthly contribution to their pension which basically bears no fruit when compared to say a money-market fund-mutual fund, some do the fixed deposit thing at the bank but is that really investing? So the over-qualified guy earning peanuts lives paycheck to paycheck, the qualified guy earning major money (in his mind's eye o) also lives from paycheck to paycheck with little plans of investing. Both have the mindset tht money is everything, both do next to nothing to keep the fountain flowing for that which they see as "everything". |
Dfavouredone:Lol! I asked myself the same thing.. Guess it has to do with those two innocuous words -"..is being.." Not enough finality in em i guess. |
You guys though. Smh |
Oh it's about typos & egos now. Smh. No one likes being called illiterate no matter how subtle or indirect. It's no one's calling to be another's frggng editor on a forum site. We owe it only to ourselves to communicate as best as we can on a forum site not to others; if you can recognize he's changed to pidgin then you can get past a little typo & not try to go off like Elijah saying he's the only one when there were 7000 more like him. And the two guys, please have some class next time; ganging up on her like that was really inelegant. |
In a way I envy the GT set of 2007. At least no one came on that thread to deliberately yank people's chains as regards the date of medicals etc.. It's pathetic someone would create a nairaland userlogin with the sole aim of making a joke at people in waiting (with a guise of easing their wait); what's even more disgusting is that the imbecilic individual may well be a candidate in this same exercise. Rubbish. |
Did y'all really miss LadyF's "confession"? |
ceetee:Hmm.. The plot thickens.. ![]() |
Funny thing, no one's speculating on only 19 people getting through. Lol. |
airsaylongcon:Pretty constant, 'we' have been lucky, our grid isn't dependent on Warri gas.. |
Perfect storm really - crude oil price slump, cbn's stance on forex, force majeure frm feedgas coys, feet dragging on train 7's FID, 'restive' GT candidates a hair's breadth away from opening a changedotorg page referencing this recruitment.. Lol.. Nlng really has her hands full. |
airsaylongcon:True the port might be cleared of all snow but planes may not fly in blizzard conditions. I think another way to tackle this is to ask ourselves if NLNG is losing money by not taking us up. They may be losing credibility but certainly not money. The lack of communication definitely sets a somewhat negative precedence but say they called all 140 successful candidates when the oil price was $45 (assuming oil price is the sole reason for not reaching out) and this $14 dollar dip to $31 occurred, would it be possible to still take up the 140? Crude oil prices may not strongly affect long term & midterm PSAs but I think it definitely affects spot prices which much of the market is moving towards & NLNG kinda participates in the Atlantic spot market. But then again sound risk management & market projections would take care of this which is why I'm really starting to think this is looking less & less like a crude oil price issue & more of a Train 7 issue (feedgas & FID myt be d culprit). |
airsaylongcon:A year before OBJ took office, oil sold for $11.91 tho even at that price, correcting for inflation would make it $17.26 which is still far from the $10 abyss. oversupply is doing its thing on d market and with Iran upping their daily quota by half a million barrels no one can really say the price may not just graze into sub-$17 territory. I guess the real question most want answered is if oil price is solely to blame for nlng's delay and if more external factors in the future (in the event of a Q3/Q4 acceptance) will affect it. eg. will Hilary Clinton becoming POTUS cause more delays?? |
At the time of the vacancy ad (October 2013), crude oil sold for $105.46 per bbl, now it's $32.53. If that doesn't slow any recruitment decisions I guess it's hard to imagine what will. Smh. |
TheRealAdonye:Danke Sehr.. |
Happy New Year, guys. |
whatsupguys:Pseudo-dictatorships (like the one Nigeria is heading for ) generally stifles any hope of transition let alone one that has a leader with a monarchical absolutist mindset (then again which of us doesn't?) who feels he should keep getting "elected" till the fat lady sings. Revolution is out of the question cos the opposition literally has no fiscal leverage cos of the soggy tissue paper currency, the country has no fields with easy oil to encourage a western backed "revolution".. So they all have to wait till Moogabe kicks the brass bucket (which may well usher in a one-party State). China seems interested (coal) but I doubt they're in the business of overt regime change. |
All well and good but have you all considered how toxic these Chinese made phones are? They're unregulated with respect to hazard parameters like SAR values. Checking the SAR using *#07# doesn't even work, & there's no way to know how much radiation these "cheap" smartphones are emitting. |
airsaylongcon:A crime has been committed, if it comes out the link through (and to) her can be made easily making her culpable and in a worse case scenario it makes her an accessory cos even if there's no money trail in her name, it only makes her look suspicious sitting on the info for over 5 months. Now in the case she starts the procedure to whistle-blow and the criminal circle was kept small enough recognizing only her as the oblivious loose end. Now she says it will get back to the perpetrators that it's her that reported; let's say the company decides to keep it in-house because the scandal won't be good for reputation and bad rep isn't good for future business. They keep it in-house, sack both the boss and I.T guy and they take up the vendetta (I've seen people killed for less), what assurances does she have for her safety?? Keeping the whistle holstered seems a good idea. |
If Free & fair is upheld in 2019 then PMB's definitely a one-termer. But who am I kidding, this is Nigeria, they'll probably go as far as Mauritania to cop yung'uns to bump up their voting population. Yay for democracy. |
Lol.. ".. [buhari] used 6 months to vet thieves.." NSE lost a lot of money on the grounds of that mess up from buhari, literally hemorrhaging money per day but currently what's important to him is going after AIT's owner for that hour-long anti-buhari documentary during the campaign.. |
Happy new month, guys. Go forth and prosper. Saves2serve, hmm.. Let me reserve my comments. |
airsaylongcon:Lol! Good times.. I'm fine, dear.. Good thing this nlng waiting room couch is well cushioned, might as well get comfy & keep socializing (among other things)... ![]() |
airsaylongcon:Lol!!! Still waiting on anyone to step to that 'sauce'. None yet.. |
I hope that person knows that ayam a former boxer cum wrestler now fighting Boko Haram in d northeast. Taken faya. Unless you mean taken by NLNG.
?
