PoliticsRe: We Haven’t Recovered From Fighting Obasanjo, PDP Laments by apolonius(m): 10:47pm On Apr 23, 2016
PDP was an organisation of looters and very greedy men and women.

It lost its war on average Nigerians after 16 years.

Let them deceive themselves in cheap attempts to revive ties with Obj.

I hope such an evil group never come close to accessing central State power again.

Life is cheap in Nigeria because we have no real leaders and strong public institutions at all levels.

Such a shame.

Really sad a promising babe and her dreams is wasted!

The university management is unserious.

They should prioritise creation of a conducive learning environment and infrastructure for the students.

Behavioural contracts should never be instruments binding learners and managers of the learning experience.

Our police are very useless.

Who are Wizkid and Linda Ikeji that resolving their stupid spat becomes newsworthy?

As a people our values have been fast overturned for kids who should be surviving on societal sidelines to be getting such cheap buzz.

Moderators on here too must understand that Nigeria has its best;cheap asses and dull little boys should get no serious spaces!

Bro you are on point, Don't mind those small pikin that does no know what politics is. With all the number of PDP Governors back then Ameachi still win the NGF election against the wish of the PDP. So many PDP senators will even go against their own when the time comes.
Thank you for sharing my perspective.

We see. Saraki won't be there for long. Another APC guy will succeed him.His successor will not be his loyalist, but Ekweremadu will stay as deputy.

African supreme presidency is all-powerful to override convenient and untested alliances.

Again,I respect your points even though I think differently.

I just made the point that you can't be so sure where the loyalty of anyone lies in politics. This is as true of the APC hawks as it is about the PDP.

The PDP has its fragments that are not obvious because they are on outside central governance. The forces imposing Sheriff and those opposing them mirror this factionalisation clearly.

When push comes to shove, the lines of interests and loyalty may not be so clear.
PoliticsRe: PDP Only Needs Three Senators To Produce Senate President - Yerima by apolonius(m): 6:35pm On Apr 22, 2016
maupe:
Appearances can be deceiving. A fragmented PDP is not likely. Those who wanted to leave have long departed, the ones left have no where to go, not due to unavailability of options, but just down to the greener grass. PDP is the more you look the less you see

PS: PDP do not want obvious control of the Senate, so they will not vie for the seat, but rather will push forward or support another longstanding Senator in Saraki's camp
I agree with your reading of the PDP strategy. Yes,with the fragment of the APC senate caucus he controls joining forces with the PDP,the seat is Saraki group's to lose.

Of course,as Harold Wilson stated,a week is a long time in politics.
PoliticsRe: PDP Only Needs Three Senators To Produce Senate President - Yerima by apolonius(m):
Yerima is assuming that all PDP senators will vote for a PDP senate presidency.

The colours of politics are rarely black and white.

The forces pushing Saraki out of office are strategically building alliances with the PDP.

If the PDP is as united as some think, how come only one or two governors, even from the Niger-Delta, attended Alams' burial organised by Mr Jonathan?

Has Mr Akpabio not gone silent as the leader of the PDP caucus in the senate in recent months?

Has Kashamu not been praising the APC-led government?

The idea that the PDP is united and strong enough to produce Saraki’s successor is a grand illusion.

Tunai, I have no idea about PTE. You probably may get someone to answer it.

@Apolonius,

You will be better off with the solicitor. I think the law society in Australia gives preference for UK qualified legal professionals. The teaching will be a long thing as the body responsible will want you to have a teaching qualification.

I read something about registering as a lawyer for foreign qualified lawyers, I should still have the documents in my system. There is a different assessment rating for UK qualified people.
Thank you. Grateful.

Great work you are doing on here Bellong.

I am a Nigerian lawyer with first and postgraduate degrees from the UK. Also presently doing a PhD in Law in London.I am in the second year and should finish next year.

Could get a UK passport in 3 years, but want to sort residence for family within a year and return to Naija to chase political dreams.

I have taught in secondary schools part-time for years in Nigeria and here in England too.

Got an invitation to apply that expired within few weeks because I forgot my login details used over a year ago.

Have seen the assessment bodies for solicitor and teaching.

From your experience bellong, which route do you advise I take?Teaching or Solicitor?

Have read both requirements, but what are the most critical requirements for the teaching route?

What sustain corruption in Nigeria are our youths!

Reading all the posts justifying the man make me very sad.

If he was a bank director and has the resources, why did he not start and complete the mansion before his election?

Does the fact that he has other properties denote a financial capacity to erect this mansion?

Was this not the same property where Chinese workers were said to have gang-raped and murdered a married woman few months ago?

Did he declare the land and 'on-going mansion' before his election?

Many of our youths are poor and jobless yet so stupid in defending our evil leaders.
BusinessRe: Panama Papers: Wale Tinubu Operated 12 Shell Companies In Tax Havens by apolonius(m):
It is always troubling that our intellectually lazy youths get carried away by sensational headlines without probing for facts.

Is Wale Tinubu of Oando the same person as Asiwaju Tinubu?

Is the oilman the same person as the politician?

Beyond the tax avoidance fervour of Panama papers, business men have every right to design schemes for their international financial transactions.

Of course, public and civil servants implicated in the P-Papers may have committed crimes, prima facie.

Has Ifeanyi Ubah cleared his debts with AMCON?

In a serious society Mr Ubah will be in jail.In a banana republic he has a voice.

I am no puritan or religious on man-woman relationship.Just practical as the fulfilled are those who see the world as it is;not as it ought to be.

Only less than 1 percent of men will really do 'no sex' relationship. Most may profess it but discreetly have sex elsewhere.

That he slept with somebody else does not mean he doesn't love her and won't kill same babe he cheated with to honour her.

Troubling paradox?Well, that is your average man.

Naija men you will say? No,check how many members of the British parliament lose thriving political careers to banality every other month.

Same for US politicians, from California's Arnold to New York's Eliot to Bill Clinton to the late lion of US senate,Ted Kennedy to Herman Can to Donald Trump to J.Allen among others.

I am using prominent and easy case studies to prove my thesis. The business and entertainment industries have thousands more every other year.

No man should cheat on a committed partner.Yet the earth is just not flat.

Babe, tell your friend to pick up her stretcher and walk.

Who's duty is it to build university to standard? Is it not the government? If Jonathan built substandard, does that stop the incumbent from making them to standard? Which institution in Nigeria offers degree training in maritime studies? Is it not better we have one at home than keep going to Ghana and India? What's your point man?

Why not tell the government to scrap Law schools, Nda, Police Academy, Nigeria Military School, Police staff colleges, Aviation College, etc because non of them are world class.
Law school is under the ministry of justice.

Our economic troubles do not encourage duplication of institutions now.We can do more to ameliorate the cobsequences of harsh deprivations than spend what we borrow to build a new university to turn out more graduates that have poor skills and access no jobs.

Stop this sectionalism disguised as intellectual analysis.

The entire month of January 2015 was hell for me & my family. Before the event that took place that month, I used to think that the mad people roaming the streets were all victims of drug abuse, alas I was wrong.

I'll love to use this opportunity to say a very big THANK YOU to the members of Nairaland family who kept on encouraging and praying for me throughout that difficult period. @shegsrules, @menix, @yorex2011 @lastmessenger, @dorox, @tranglatar, @twosquare @GoldCircle, @Orex @adexsimply, @haibe. You guys were awesome. May God continue to bless & lift you.
I cannot say enough thanks to @alexk2 and @tranglatar. These are guys I have never seen in my life yet they encouraged me like a blood brother. May God bless your hearts & grant all your heart desires this year and beyond in Jesus Name. Amen!

I created this thread www.nairaland.com/2083522/please-advice-sister-needs-urgent on the 9th of January 2015 when I desperately needed advice from experienced & wise Nairalanders. Although the thread never saw the frontpage, the little advice and prayers I got from the few who commented were more than enough to push me through.

It's over a year now and I'm delighted to share the testimony of how my sister was delivered from insanity. True to the comment of one of the God-sent Nairalanders on the previous thread, my sister had been battling with depression for a while and was trying to use religion as a succour. Her sudden withdrawal from everyone was a sign of depression but we mistook it for trying to be closer to God. To cut the long story short, the climax of the whole experience was on the 10th of January 2015 at about 11:05pm. Earlier that evening, my sister returned from church and was muttering some incoherent words to herself that made me really suspicious but she acted normal. Even when I asked her questions, she answered very well. Mum had retired to bed and I was in my room reading comments/advice from the previous thread about her issue. I heard strange noises from the sitting room/kitchen but I assumed my sister was probably trying to clean up the dishes and return some other stuff like water into the fridge. I was very wrong. Not until I heard a loud bang that I jumped up from bed and ran to the sitting room, what I saw shocked me to my marrows. Right there was my sister with a knife in one hand and an electric kettle on the other (it was with these she made the loud bang), her clothes (the one my mum gave her to wear) were torn to shreds & she was almost completely unclad. She had torn the sofa with the knife, pulled out a wall lamp by force, poured out all the contents of the standing fridge and chest freezers, torn open the bag of rice, smashed all the crates of egg on the wall, went to the store and poured the cement I kept on herself, sliced the yams, fishes and potatoes in the kitchen, poured disinfectant all over the kitchen, bursted open the bag of garri, shredded a part of the matress in her room & even tore the wrapper her little daughter who feel asleep while watching cartoon in the palour used to cover herself, infact a part of the house was upside down.

I couldn't believe all that happened while I was fully awake in my room (though my door was shut & the sound system was quite loud). At this time, my mum woke up and joined me in the sitting room. I quickly grabbed the knife and kettle from her and locked her arms to her back in a bid to overpower her. Mum was praying and crying and even slipped (because the mixture of rice grains, water, smashed eggs, turkey wings/laps, tomato paste etc made the tiles very slippery and difficult to walk on. We were confused on who to call or how to manage the situation. I tried asking her what was wrong with her and why she turned the house upside down, her response was that she was looking for her academic credentials (she had earlier burnt all her credentials). When my sister realized I won't release her arms, she was becoming aggressive. She was saying all sort of meaningless things and begging me to release her to go outside. She kept seeing all the cartoon characters on TV as herself and even thought the grains of rice scattered on the floor were a multitude of people. embarassed

By the grace of God, a doctor was able to sedate her by 12:37am. By that time, I was exhausted, frustrated, scared, shocked and sad. I just couldn't find the right words to console my mum. She was devastated. Needless to say we could not sleep till dawn. Each time my sister woke up from her deep sleep, we got scared of what her next reaction will be. It took days and extra hands to clean up the mess in the house. To shorten the story, after pastors came to the house to pray, we took her to a psychiatric hospital and she was on drugs for months till her condition improved. Today, she is doing very well and even works with a multinational organisation (through the help of a friend).

I learnt several lessons from this sad event which I'll like to share:
Which hospital was she treated at?Share as such info may be useful to someone else on here.Quality mental care is not abundant in our country o.
