VTJN:Any course is relevant and can take you anywhere in Canada, depending on your vision, your mentor and your hunger. In the UK, Naija education and experience mean nothing to them. |
SocialJustice:Yes, but you will get a Permanent Residence in Canada with the Express Entry from day one while it will take you 4-7 years to get its UK equivalent, Indefinite Leave. Let me give you examples of earnings between the UK and Canada. In the UK, qualified teachers earn between £27,000-34, 000. In Ontario, Canada, they earn $CAD 90-110, 000. Nurses in Canada earn about two-three times more than their UK counterparts. Doctors in many places in Canada earn over $350,000. In the UK, it’s less than £70,000. New Lecturers in the UK earn £30-45,000. Starting rank for their counterparts in Canada is Assistant Professor and they start with $95,000-125,000 depending on the field or area of specialism. Of course, these are median rates and salaries, and the £ is stronger than the CAD$. Both pay different taxes. The most important thing is that it takes some time to settle into these societies depending on who is mentoring or guiding you. Some of these jobs may require you to get licensed and will the process will depend on your dedication and how fast you can push. Accountants who come to Canada from Nigeria can start AML Analyst and Business Analyst roles pending when they are licensed to go for full accounting jobs. These roles pay anywhere between $50-95,000, depending on your experience and who is guiding you. In my years in the UK, many Naija UK graduates and students were happy working in ASDA, Morrison’s, Sainsbury’s, doing security jobs, carer e.t.c. These include MSC, LLM and PhD holders from great UK universities. Since, I came to Canada. I have watched tens of Nigerians come from banks and the streets in many local places in Naija to start bank jobs...I am yet to see ANY except those just coming in today and refugee claimants do the jobs that Naija people in the UK do and celebrate. |
SocialJustice:Great plans. Option 1 is doable but expensive. More importantly, with the benefits of hindsight, I will do LLB(JD) and an LLM in Canada. Doing it here will open unimaginable doors for you that the UK won’t open in 40 years. Option 2-I can’t advice because of professional ethics. But I will say direct the plan to Canada. Will likely succeed and be far less challenging with proper guidance and information. |
He has been around for awhile and paid his dues. Wishing him success! |
I haven’t logged on to post for awhile but for the silly generalizations on this topic. Art courses are relevant and useful in the West just like science courses. It depends on where you are, what you want, what you know and who is guiding you. I have lived in the UK for 11 years, and Canada for some years. While I studied in the former to PhD level, I did art(law). It has served me well. I know many who read art courses who are doing well in the financial, legal, healthcare, business and hospitality industries in Canada. In short, they read these courses from places like Abia, Osun, Ebonyi, Delta, Ogun and Ekiti states. I know science graduates too. Through the Canadian NCA process, I have met and continue to interact with many Naija lawyers trying to practice here. Some work in courts, law firms and big professional services firms like PWC, Deloitte, Denton...while writing their licensing exams. The licensing exams that Naija lawyers write are also written by American, British and Australian lawyers who want to practice law in Canada. It’s not peculiar to Naija lawyers. Naija and other African doctors even face greater and tougher pathways to getting licensed here. Engineers, nurses and teachers from across the world face licensing requirements and demands here too. Reason? ...Traditional professions are elitist and regulated to ensure credibility, control and compliance, and standardization. In Canada, the UK, the US and co, all immigrants go through processes and seasons to settle in. Reason? We were not born here, didn’t study here and couldn’t have built the organic network for easy ascension. It takes time to study, graduate and work in Naija where we were born and raised. It’s not abnormal and it is expected to take same, if not longer time, away from home in societies that are many decades, if not centuries, ahead of ours. Over 30,000 Nigerians moved to Canada since 2015...The opportunities and areas of accomplishments and struggles are diverse across science and the arts. Guys, do your research before you generalize.Stop listening to single and half stories of people who are determined to stay in their comfort zones on the sidelines of these societies. I can speak confidently about the UK and Canada. Ask questions, if you have. |
awhybliss:Not social media data. I am a lawyer of about 10 years not far from where this guy is. Need more? |
awhybliss:Who rated him? |
awhybliss:What has he won? Forget the normal Naija false hypes. Go and read it again; no known cases. He has 4 victory testimonies on his website with no known names. C'mon, verify your claims before you post. |
I am in Canada, and studied in the UK for 10 years to PhD level. Just follow this advice and you will thank God sooner. Your choice of country should be Australia and Canada first; then the USA; then Germany. All the best. flyingpig: |
Op, sorry about the beating and hoping your marriage grows from the conflict, fight and clash. Ignore many of these kids telling you the ideals you must hold your marriage to. They know little or nothing about marriage and life. You tried dictating to hubby how he should dress. He grudgingly went in to change. Then came out with a changed top only. He was already angry that you will tell him how to dress for a visit to HIS FRIEND’s place.Possibly, you told him in a patronizing way. Your error: you asked him to take a picture. The message he got is that you wanted him to change his clothes for you to take pictures to satisfy your social media audience. If we dig in objectively, you will admit that he is not one who likes you posting pictures on social media, and possibly considers it a fake lifestyle. For him, you pushed him to change his clothes to enable you take pictures for the audience you are determined to satisfy. Sensitivity to mood and a very respectful approach in nudging a spouse to do what we want is crucial. Pick the lessons as I know he will pick, and soldier on. All married people will tell you it takes hard work, patience and high tolerance to make marriage work. The slap is bad, but a very small thing compared to the huge crises that marriages go through. Soldier on. |
garfield1:Thanks. |
Modaproducer:Omala is out; PDP got about 1720 or so, while APC got 1340 or so. Sorry to kill your wild enthusiasm! |
garfield1:It’s too late to counter the Ebira votes. Anyigba was terrorized and only few units voted. That is the heartland of Dekina with over 30,000 voters. |
nzeobi:In the same Kogi, Audu ran down everywhere when we fought to push him out in 2003. Ibro turned Kogi into a mafia hub that we had to obtain permission from thugs to hold birthday parties... Was Buhari in-charge when Rivers was a war zone to impose Wike, and Sylva was pushed for treason to impose Dickson on Bayelsa? Until 2019, have votes ever counted in the Niger-Delta? What of OBJ and Maradona Iwu who declared election results while electoral materials were being transported? |
NaijaTalkTown:Of course, it’s over. Just painted a best case scenario. |
garfield1:He used violence to scatter Anyigba; that is the soul of Dekina gone. Some parts of Odu too. Edward has some hardened supporters in the Ankpa area too. Bello re-did a road for them. I expect high votes in Ankpa and Dekina LGAs to be less than 50,000 each, and Bello will get 19-28%, at worse. |
Iamgrey5:Voter turnout is the issue. I hope you know that there are many Ogugu people under Ofu too. They are around Aloma-Ogbonicha axis. I don’t expect anything heavy from those areas or Igala-mela/Odolu LGA. |
Iamgrey5:Bello is leading with over 210,000 votes so far. I think he is a settled victor. I have seen the trends in the votes from Ankpa and Dekina LGAs, Bello will pull 17-25% from there. He used extreme violence to reduce the gap in Dekina. I am a hardcore APC supporter, but Bello is an evil and demonic guy. |
Okehi LGA Result APC 36954 PDP 487 |
garfield1:Will likely pick Mopa LGA and maybe Yagba East. They haven’t declared Okehi in his base yet. |
nzeobi:It’s called The Incumbency Advantage! |
omenka:Wike will sponsor and pair with Tambuwal. Atiku will run again but will be disgraced and humiliated by the governors who are now in their second terms and ready for national aspirations. Kwankwaso will run again. Yet, my APC will beat the shit out of them if they manage Tinubu well. |
Staro:I am from Odu, Wada rigged heavily too. The videos are on here. The Ebiras have always been united against Igalas. I almost got killed in 2006/7 while returning through Okene when Senator Ohiare ran against Ibro and Audu. It was operation kill Igalas. A great politician will envisage rigging plans and design strategies to counter it. A poor one won’t. I wanted Bello to lose, but he is better at the game than all my people as at today. |
I laughed earlier at the naive and largely ignorant analyses of the election by my friends and kinsmen from Kogi state, especially the Igalas. I consider myself a vintage Igala man, and judge Bello as our worst since Kogi state was created. But, he has the indices and machineries of power on his side. He is likely to win, and win well. Ned Nwoko is not a Senator! He is a former member of the House of Representatives. He was in the House of Representatives from 1999-2003, over 16 years ago. He is an Hon., not Senator. Op and moderators, many stories on this man promote the error that he is a senator, he has never been one. Nairaland is becoming a pool of mediocrity and low intelligence. Moderators, even if Nairaland is paid to promote and exaggerate the achievements of these guys, do basic research. |
Saltoflife:What is the secret he told you? |
He lost the primaries. Moderators should verify what they move to the front pages. |
dokyOloye:Your dubious concept of ‘progressives’ mean corruption lovers? |
OkunrinOloro:No man wants to marry a liability who brings nothing to the table and wait for handouts. Maybe na that one brothers dey do am. No mind those deluded expired bums. |
This ugly one who sleeps with retired and senile dicks for money will be talking trash as always. I guess she still can’t get over marrying and divorcing a broke ass because of her delusions and desperation for money. Who brings all these idiots’ posts to this place? |
Ekitibiased:I guess you didn’t see my preceding comment that he is in London for medical care. Read well. |
