US Defences Are Incapable of Intercepting Russian, Chinese Missiles, Navy Admiral Admitshttps://sputniknews.com/military/202002281078431489-us-defences-are-incapable-of-intercepting-russian-chinese-missiles-navy-admiral-admits/ Missy89, come here and explain this blatant truth. Since you're a member of the armed forces, Americans should know how on earth the trillions of dollars spent on defense can't produced a useful air defense platform. Trump is coming for y'all. ![]() |
The F-35 fighter jet program is the greatest boondoggle of the 21st century. |
Zoharariel:You are very spot on. The point that really certifies Erdogan as a crazy idiot was when he asked that Syrian forces shouldn't enter Idlib. Imagine the stupid effrontery. He is already losing popularity in turkey, and as more and more body bags start returning home, a revolution would soon happen and the crazy terrorist sympathizer sultan would be shown the way out. The man is simply crazy. |
tsephanyah:Russia was never looking to escalate this because it doesn't make any sense. They will try as much as possible to avoid a full military showdown with Turkey, and that's what the conciliatory tone represents. After all, the recent killing of Turkish forces wasn't an overt act by the Russians, but an obvious show by the Syrians as supported by the Russians. Notwithstanding, if Turkey thinks it can just have its way in Idlib because of some economic ties with Russia, then I'm afraid they will be met with a disappointing reality. History should teach Erdogan that Russia does not sell its national interest for pieces of economic gain. The situation in Ukraine should be a warnng sign to Ankara. |
tsephanyah:If the best form of defense is to attack, then be ready to suffer counter attack because nobody would be coming to help you out, not when it involved a nuclear and much more stronger power. Stop making it look as if the EU makes Erdogan a sheriff that protects Europe from terrorist. If Turkey hasn't invaded the Kurds deep into Syria, the situation would have been much more different. Beside, Turkey failed to keep it side of the Sochi agreement per Idlib, am now that he is suffering the consequences, he isvteying to blackmail the EU with more refugees. The EU would only give a listening ear is because of the influx of more refugees, otherwise, no one is sympathetic to erdogans cry in Syria. I hate it when you say Russia called Erdogan to beg. Where you there when they made the call? The news said there was an exchange of calls between the two leaders and that agreed to meet soon. Nowhere did it says Russia begged Turkey to not escalate. Rather, the reverse is the case. The Russian Upper Legislative House is threatening Turkey. No one oa begging Erdogan. Yes, its all about oil and pipeline politics, and Russia is a master in this game. Both parties, including Turkey and the EU and Russia wuould be the ones to lose if things get worse. Only the US would be the winner here, but the EU won't let that happen because they're haplessly dependent on Russian oil. So its a real game of geopolitics which the Russians are very good at. 0 |
tsephanyah:What a babel! I can't help but laugh each time folks like you brings up the NATO card vis-à-vis Russia. When Russia is involved, article 5 only exist on paper. You can take that to the bank. You think the leaders of the nations making up NATO are as daft, arrogant and stupid as Erdogan? You invade another man's land and want your friends to help you out when things starts turning sour for you in there? You think Russia is Afghanistan, Iraq, or Libya? If push comes to shove, Russia will bomb the chicken from Turkey in Syria and NATO will just complain and do Nada. Its laughable to even think that NATO would go to war with Russia in Syria because of Erdogan. ![]() Tell me, who will fight the fight, is it France, Italy, Greece, Hungary, Germany? If only you understand the deep hatred these nations harbors towards Turkey under Erdogan, you wouldn't have mentioned NATO at all. Besides, article 5 of NATO has nothing to do with Turkey in Syria. So bringing up NATO make no sense. Yes, economically, Russia would love to keep things going with Turkey, but if you think Russia would acquiesce or be on the begging side as much as Syria is concerned, you seriously have to think again. Russia has sacrificed so much for Syria that she won't hesitate to do the needful to ensure the Syrian regime stays put. Erdogan should have known this back in 2015 when they shot down a Russian jet and the Russians retaliation that follows, barring all Turkish aerial operations into Syria and damning the Turkstream deal and such other economic ties witj Ankara by imposing economic sanctions. Russia don't give a dime about any pipeline with Turkey because Syria is too great a price to lose. Turkey saw that it needs Erdogan to achieve its goals in the greater East and beyond, and so quickly decided to ditch the F35 program and opt for the Russian S400 defense system as a way to mend ties with Russia, all to the ire of NATO. Same NATO you believe would be rolling out the guns to fight alongside Turkey in Syria. I just dey laf. ![]() If you want to understand Russian resolve, try Syria (like Ukraine) and you would understand. The US tried it many times and understood that Syria is a no compromised Russian redline, that is why Obama was so careful during his time, and even a more daring Trump now wants to leave the place completely. Its same reason that Netayaho hasn't stopped traveling to Moscow to seek Russia's passive cooperation in its target of Iranian weapon shipments to Hezbollah. It is only an idiot like Erdogan who thinks he can corner Russia over Syria. The Russian upper legislative house just made it clear that if Turkey tries any stupid thing in Syria, she would run off with her tail in between her legs. The message is clear already. ![]() |
BabaOwen:Great analysis. |
dermmy:Erdogan is just making a fool of himself. Of course, NATO would voice solidarity with Ankara, but nothing more they can do to help him. |
tsephanyah:Turkey patrolling its borders inside Syria? What a Joke .Turkish forces in Syria is an invading force and everyone knows that. Idlip isn't even a border town with Turkey, so your excuses doesn't hold water. The Turkish soldiers killed late Thursday were in covert operations in observatory posts aiding and abetting the targeting of Russian and Syrian planes. It was in same area that Russia lost a plane two weeks ago. So the Syrians with the full blessings and capabilities of the Russians simply bombed them to send Ankara a strong covert warning: "down any of our planes again, and we will kick your ass straight to hell." As we speak, two Russian frigates with cruise missiles have already crossed the Bosphorous heading to the Mediterranean sea (Kalibr in heat stage ). Believe me, those cruise missiles won't be picking out 'moderate rebels' by the time they start to rain. Ankara got the message very clear, hence their rush to consult with NATO. . |
BabaOwen:Spot on. |
tsephanyah:Spare him for his error, all ofvus do err at some points. He meant to say Turkey not Syria. 0 |
tsephanyah:Mistake? Turkish forces were directly attacked and the turks knew the Russians has a hand in it because the Russians rules the Syrian skies in that part. They are only refusing to accuse Russia directly because they knew their hands are dirty as well for directly and indirectly supplying and using shoulder-mounted antiaircraft missiles to target both Russian and Syrian planes. The Turks are the ones asking for help here, not the Syrians. In case you don't know it, Turkish forces in Idlib are surrounded from every side. Putin will never plead with the turks that has failed to honor its side of the Sochi accord. Let that sink in. I didn't change the heading. The heading is in the body of the article up there. What I did was create a heading that mirrors the reality on ground. ![]() |
If Turkey meat Erdogan thinks Russia would because of its recent bilateral relationship with Ankara abandons its ally, Syria, then he is in for many more disappointment to come. Russia don't abandon or backstabbed its allies, unlike America that abandoned the Kurds to suffer their own fate under Erdogan. It was very clear that Russia coordinated the attack that kills those Turkish forces. The Turks knows this and that's why they are calling for NATO help, blackmailing Europe with more refugees. Erdogan is learning the hard way that Russia never forget. They are now paying in kind for the downing of the SU 24 in 2015. More interesting times lies ahead. ![]() |
Airstrike Hits Turkish Forces in Syria, Raising Fears of Escalation. The Turkish Army suffered mass casualties in the strike, officials said, an attack that could set off a direct conflict between Turkey and Russia. Image Turkish military forces in Syria’s Idlib Province this week. The attack on Thursday took place south of Idlib City.Credit...Ghaith Alsayed/Associated Press Share on FacebookPost on TwitterMail By Carlotta Gall Feb. 27, 2020 ISTANBUL — The Turkish Army suffered mass casualties in an airstrike in northwest Syria late Thursday, an attack that could dramatically change the course of the Syrian war as fears grow of a direct conflict between Russia and Turkey, a NATO member. At least 33 Turkish soldiers were killed and more than 30 wounded, said Rahmi Dogan, the Turkish governor of the southern province of Hatay, where the Turkish casualties were arriving. Turkish officials said the strike had been carried out by Syrian government forces, but Russian jets have been conducting most of the airstrikes in the area in recent weeks. Turkish protesters in Istanbul converged on the Russian Consulate there early Friday, chanting “Murderer Russia! Murderer Putin!” Turkish officials have avoided blaming the Russian government for aggression against their forces in Syria, hoping to avoid a direct confrontation with Russia’s much stronger military and to keep a line open for talks with Russia’s president, Vladimir V. Putin. ADVERTISEMENT Russian officials could not be reached for comment late Thursday. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey convened an emergency meeting Thursday evening in Ankara, Turkish media reported. And Turkish forces began retaliating Thursday against Syrian forces in northeastern Idlib Province. Turkey has long supported opposition forces in Syria’s nine-year civil war against the government of President Bashar al-Assad. Mr. Assad, backed by Russia and Iran, has largely defeated the uprising, at a cost of hundreds of thousands of lives and the creation of millions of refugees. His government, backed by Russian warplanes, is fighting in Idlib to retake the country’s last rebel-held province. In the past three months, the intensified fighting there has driven nearly a million people from their homes, creating a humanitarian crisis on Turkey’s border. In recent days, tensions between the two sides have been rising, increasing fears of a war breaking out between Turkey and Russia, which controls the airspace in northwestern Syria. ADVERTISEMENT Mr. Erdogan has called for Syrian government and Russia forces to cease their offensive in Idlib and to pull back from Turkish positions, which have been encircled and cut off by Syrian government forces. He has also called for a Turkish-controlled safe zone in the region for the displaced civilians. Turkey has deployed thousands of troops into the province to stem the Syrian government advance but has been severely hampered by the lack of air support. Russia has been conducting a blistering air campaign across the province, bombing hospitals, schools and residential buildings, killing at least 300 people in three months. Turkey has asked the United States for Patriot missiles to help defend its troops, and called for NATO to enforce a no-fly zone to protect the nearly three million civilians in Idlib Province. But Washington and NATO members have so far refused to engage militarily in northwest Syria out of reluctance to confront Russia, Western officials said. The United States is withholding Patriot missiles until Turkey agrees to render its Russian S400 missile system inoperable. ADVERTISEMENT The United States has about 500 troops in northeastern and southern Syria, whose main missions are to prevent the Islamic State from returning there and to guard Syrian oil fields. Turkey is a NATO member, prompting fears in the West that an attack on Turkey could require a response by allies in Europe and North America, dramatically escalating Syria’s already complex war. “The attack against Turkey is an attack against NATO,” Omer Celik, the spokesman for Mr. Erdogan’s Justice and Development Party, said on the CNN Turk news channel. “NATO should have been with Turkey, not starting today but from before these events. We are expecting concrete actions on the safe zone and no-fly zone.” There was no immediate comment from the White House, but President Trump has made it clear that he would like to keep out of the conflict, and has previously ordered American troops to leave Syria. ADVERTISEMENT On Wednesday, Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper told members of the House Armed Services Committee that the United States was not looking to reassert its presence there. “There has not been that discussion about re-engaging in the civil war,” he said. “We think the best path forward is through the U.N. process that is underway.” Several American officials, however, reacted to the airstrike on Thursday with alarm. “The prospects of a direct military confrontation between Turkey & Russia in Syria are very high & increasing by the hour,” Senator Marco Rubio, Republican of Florida, said in a tweet. Mr. Erdogan, he said, “is on the right side here. Putin & Assad are responsible for this horrific humanitarian catastrophe.” Kay Bailey Hutchison, the American ambassador to NATO, told reporters in Washington on Thursday that “everything is on the table.” ADVERTISEMENT “This is a big development,” Ms. Hutchison said, “and our alliance is with Turkey, it is not with Russia.” She added, “We want Turkey to understand that we are the ones that they’ve been allied with.” The attack on Thursday hit Turkish troops between the towns of Al Bara and Balyoun, south of the city of Idlib. Turkish troops have been positioned in 12 observation posts set up over a year ago as part of a de-escalation agreement with Russia. A Turkish military convoy traveling to resupply troops came under aerial attack first, and then a building where the troops were based was struck, Abu Yahya, a senior official of the Turkish-backed Syrian fighting force in Idlib Province, said in an interview. The Turkish-backed Syrian fighters have made significant gains in battles against Syrian government forces farther east recently. They captured the town of Saraqib on the main M5 highway through the province on Wednesday and were engaged in fierce battles farther south on Thursday. ADVERTISEMENT The Turkish Army called on its Syrian proxies to raise their readiness for operations, a Syrian media group reported. Emotions were running high in Reyhanli, on the Turkish side of the Syrian border, where the casualties were brought. People gathered to donate blood and a crowd chanted “God is Great” outside the main hospital. The escalation came as Western members of the United Nations Security Council in New York implored Russia and Syria to decree a humanitarian cease-fire in the Idlib region. “There is more this council can and must do to stop the suffering,” Foreign Minister Heiko Maas of Germany and Deputy Prime Minister Alexander De Croo of Belgium told the council in a joint statement on Thursday morning. ADVERTISEMENT Ursula Mueller, the assistant secretary general for humanitarian affairs, told council members that the deprivations facing civilians in northwest Syria were “not humanly tolerable.” Henrietta Fore, the executive director of Unicef, who is to visit Syria this weekend, said “we desperately need a cessation of hostilities in northwest Syria.” But the Russians, who have vetoed 14 Security Council resolutions on Syria since the insurgency began in 2011, rejected the entreaty. Vassily Nebenzia, Russia’s ambassador to the global body, said the only long-term solution in Idlib and the rest of Syria was “a final and irreversible expulsion from the country of all terrorists.” Idlib’s three million people include about 1.5 million opponents of the Syrian government, who have fled to Idlib from other parts of Syria, as well as fewer than 100,000 jihadists and rebels, according to estimates. The Syrian government and Russia refer to members of the civilian opposition and the rebel and jihadist groups as terrorists. ADVERTISEMENT Russian state news services did not report on the strike by late Thursday, but they cited military officials blaming Turkey for supporting militants who are targeting Russian positions. “The Turkish side continued to support illegal armed formations with artillery fire and reconnaissance and attack drones,” Interfax cited a rear admiral, Oleg Zhuravlev, as saying. Admiral Zhuravlev said the Russian Air Force shot down a Turkish drone. Rossiya 24, a state news channel, reported that Turkey was targeting Syrian Army troops with artillery and Russian helicopters with antiaircraft fire in response to the strike that killed Turkish soldiers. The report cited only unspecified “information” it had received, not an official source. Reporting was contributed by Saad Alnassife from Gaziantep, Turkey; Lara Jakes and Zach Montague from Washington; Hwaida Saad from Beirut; Rick Gladstone from New York; and Andrew Kramer from Moscow. garetz:It is now certain that Russia is officially wired into the psychic of the Democratic party. How Putin must be laughing his head off in Moscow seeing the dems screaming Russia like bunches of lunatics. |
OjoMadiba:They can no longer do anything in the dems house without mentioning Russia. It is beyond crazy. |
Kopfschmerzenmd:So the Russians are back in the game again. . Now that's the turn of the Dems to be anchored by the Russians, let's see how they go with this. This party is never tired of excuses. I thought it was Trump that was the Russians puppet. Now is Bernie. Rubbish. |
PDPGuy:It's game over for Biden. By now, Nancy Pelosi and a lot of her inner circle must be kicking their scrotum while scratching their bewildered Jaws, wondering how in the world Biden didn't make it to even second place despite all the media hype of him being the best and most formidable presidential frontrunner, and considering all the pains they have been through for him vis the Impeachment brouhaha. They knew that by Biden not coming even third in all these caucus shite, it inadvertently legitimized Trump's argument that Biden is corrupt per the Ukrainian Imbroglio while also solidifying Trump's position politically. ![]() Lesson learnt is "never trust the MSM and useless polls," they're just tools of the propaganda machine operated by the Establishment. But, sadly, Dems supporters never seemed to learn. That's the sad reality of the equation. |
wowcatty:There is none as crooked as the DNC. |

stanech:Don't mind the clown. That's why he would never win. I remember when Obama was president, US forces in Syria were bombing empty fields and sand fills so they appear they were actually fighting ISIS. The shameless DoD under Obama even used published Russian military plane bombing videos to claim they were bombing targets. It was only when Trump came that US started real targeting of ISIS, and that is after Russia has done a great job of supporting the Syrian Government, and Putin leaked the secret to Trump of the existence of a "second CIA" operation in Syria whose deeds and mission completely differ from the one under the White House. In return, Trump gave the Russians the full green light to bomb the "moderate" from the liberal created so-called rebels who were actively being funded by Washington. Of course, Trump ended that funding and what have we today, the complete death of ISIS. Now, you can understand why they hate Trump and Putin so much. These guys spoil market for them in Syria. Believe me, the dems liberal democracy idealism is the greatest threat to America's survival as a nation. They operate straight out of the Devil's own playboy. Wicked souls. |
kophschmerzenii:Don't be this ignorant, friend . Politics is the same everywhere and the rot comes in different or similar forms. One might be overt and the other one covert, bloody or demeaning, but both are the same in deeds and objectives. I know of John Thornton, Mayor of Washington Park, 2010, Mike Swoboda, Mayor of Kirkwood, 2008, John Roll, District Court Judge, Tucson Arizona, 2011, Drew Brown, Sheriff-elect, Dekirb County, Georgia, 2008, Tommy Burks, Democrat, State senator, Tennessee, 1998, James E. Davies, Democrat, New York City chairman, 2003, Mark Hasse, GOP, District attorney, Kaufman County, Texas, 2013, and more, all of which were targeted and killed for political reasons. (let's not mention the Presidents now RIPs). I lost count of how many bodies that were picked up mysteriously dead each time people have something against Killery Clinton. I know of some journalists in the US that have been killed mysteriously for their works (maybe it was ordinary folks like us that went to iced them for fun). ![]() I know of more than 50 holistic doctors that have been killed mysteriously both within and outside the US connected to the work they do in the US (politics of economic gain vis exclusivity. You may want to ask Big Pharma and their agents in government). ![]() I know of some persons that were silenced in the wake of the Iraq Invasion in other to cover the primary motive. I know of how most of the squad purported to have killed Osama Bin Laden were conveniently packed into a Chinook helicopter and "blown" out of the sky mysteriously with the blame put on the laps of the Talibans, even though Michael Snowden told us otherwise. I just dey laf. .I know of how the Obama regime spied on Trump and his campaign, if that isn't trying to get an unfair advantage over the opponent (like they accused Trump of doing per Ukraine and Biden), then I wonder what is. ![]() I can go on and on, but this would suffice. So, friend, as you can see, your political views per your country's perceived righteousness and the sin of others is far from what you think. All countries are guilty of silencing the opposition in one way or the other, whether in pure brutality, covert brutality, character assassination, blackmail, or what have you; it's all politics. And how is Trump a dictator? I hired you to work for me, and it turns out you're of no use to me: don't I have the right to fire you? If that's your definition of dictator, then I may need to borrow ya dictionary, don't you think, brother. ![]() |
PDPGuy:I have argued this line here before. The problem is, many people already have a bad picture of socialism, even though it has evolved to become "democratic-socialism, " in its current model. That's the model working for a number of European countries like Sweden, Denmark, and even the UK to some extent. But unfortunately, that name alone is a taboo to the ears of many Americans, especially the whites that are more on the conservative views. Thus, as Trump rightly put it during the State of the Union address last week, most Americans won't tolerate it, let alone vote for it. So, if Bernie should pick the ticket, there is no chance in hell he is going to win most of the key swing states and the minorities in the middle. Trump would just go to bed and let sleeping dogs lie (I don't know if I'm wrong here). The Dems knew this hence they are doing everything they can to make sure Sanders did not win the ticket. |

He just might be under the influence of something psychotic... Some dark secret service stuff might just be testing off a new drug-related mind and action control weapon. Same way they are testing the Corona virus weapon in China, now spreading everywhere inch by inch. Welcome to the age of biological weapons and the elite population control agenda. At least, they didn't remember Africa this time around, their usual testing ground. They seemed to have shifted focus to Asia. Next would be South America. It never comes from Europe or America. It is only an idiot who believe the Whiteman claim that Aids comes from dog and Ebola is produced by monkeys. It all make sense, when you reason that the places being targeted are the continents that holds much of the world's population, reducing it by almost half have always been the elites quest. Many don't even know that reducing the global population drastically is a major INTENT and vision of the UN. But God strong pass them. |
kophschmerzenii:You ain't see nothing yet. You dems started the reggae, now Trump wants to finish with the blues. Y'all forgot that everyone has skeleton in their cupboard Trump is about to dig theirs and let them have a taste of their own medicine. Payback is a wicked fowl. ![]() |
Jimi24:From where would the shocker come? You mean from the DNC that is tramping on voters rights by rigging the outcome of their primaries? Are you even watching the news at all? Please, read alternative sources and see the facts for yourself. Many dems voters online are now turning independents following the disgraceful and outrigt robbery that characterizes the just concluded Iowa caucus. You think people will always remain foolish. People are already loosing faith in the DC process that specializes in rigging primaries against certain individuals. Bernie was robbed in broad daylight, and even the most conservative talk shows are pointing that out already. It's also been alleged that Pete Buttigieg paid the App that did the counting $40, 000 (I don't know how truthful that is). But everyone knows the process was rigged. And there is no kind of shock such a rigging house can deliver come November when people are already losing trust in it. As things stand now, the dems have no solid political base and figure to unseat Trump. That's the fact. |
raumdeuter:I see sense in your analysis. But don't forget that people are the same everywhere. Among those 20% leftover base that you mentioned, there are those who would reason it that a man whose son takes in thousands of dollars from a company where he does nothing is not worth entrusting public office to, notwithstanding that others are doingbit. And there are those who would also reasoned that this same man who have boasted of doing the same thing that they accused the current president of doing (per Ukraine), isn't different from whom he is up against, and so shouldn't be taken seriously. These are some of the ways we humans reasons, and that's what played into Biden coming 4th place in the just concluded Iowa caucus. His own political base for that matter. Would you have believed it if you were told before now that Biden wouldn't even come second in the caucus? That confirms it that people are the same everywhere...the majority of us shares a certain line of reason in specific scenarios. |
OjoMadiba:OH stop that, the Russians rigged it. ![]() |
