jamace: What are you saying? That Buhari should close his eyes to their corruption because they sponsored him to power? You mean the fight against corruption should be one-sided, against opposition party only? If Buhari heeds your advice then his fight against corruption will not be for the benefit of Nigerians but for his political party. Buhari's conscience is on trial! Pls enlighten them, cos their support for APC has clouded their judgement and they fail to admit the truth even if it knocks them on the head. |

May God Almighty bless you richly, this is the first meaningful comment I have read in a long time on nairaland. awa: Sorry Wayoo, I am not a PDP nor APC member. Jonathan is not my hero and I am not anti-Buhari. Buhari will be kidding not to probe OBJ because corruption is corruption despite who commits it or when it was committed. Not probing Tinubu because he is not after any political appointment, according to you, is hypocrisy of the century. Now on why I should bring evidence before EFCC will probe an assumed corrupt former governor, the EFCC has mandate to police Nigerians against corruption. I pay my tax monthly and from there they are paid to police the society. This means I am already empowering them to investigate Amechi. Seun didn't create Nairaland.com for supporting evil but to help Nigerians have a common platform to chart positive way forward for this nation.
Please be more objective next time you are quoting me. I love meaningful discussion devoid of name callings. You and I can help in moving this nation forward. Long live PMB long live Naija |

Why would Ameachi be afraid of the militants? Is he not a militant leader and a cultist? Gwan2: Am not an Amechi fanboy nor have i indebt knowledge of his antecedence...bt one thing i knw abt Amechi is dat he is a VERY BRAVE MAN. . When militancy was at Itz peak, Amechi vehemently refuséd recognizing d militants as freedom fighters wich dey claim to be and instead term dem as criminals...he single handedly made Rivers state uncomfortable for dia operation...That was dsame time som south south governors catch cold at d mention of Asari, BOyloaf, Ateke Tom,Tompolo etc. . . The biggest mistake PDP made was losing diz brave warrior... |

The concept of witch hunting in the old days, did any suspected witch survived the trial? Do you know anyone that can survive from been tied to a stone and thrown into d river? O BigElEddy: Provide evidence or shut up. Wike has been wailing about Ameachi yet all he has shown us as evidence is the governors bedroom and kitchen claiming Ameachi stole bed spread, plates, and spoons. Most People EFCC have gone after from the last administration like Dasuki are not suppose to belong to any party in the first place. For those wailing "witch hunting", there is a of witch hunting that was applied during the old days. If someone is suspected of practicing witchcraft, the person is chased, caught and then tried before a panel. If found guilty the person is burnt, if NOT GUILTY they let the person GO. So nobody should be scared unless they practiced some sort of "witchcraft" during their time in public offices. |

Bros ur moniker sound like jass for warri pidgin... otumopkor: But he (or she) forgot to quote from the bible, the goodness of our lord. Like how he took the people of Israel from captivity and delivered David from the hand of Goliath and from the snare of Saul. Infact the bible says " and God killed Saul". When you are reading the bible, the most important thing to do is to read the bible with an open mind. You tell God to speak to you and to open your mind to what you need to know. When you highlight things like who created the women Cain and Abel married (because it wasnt written), you would find yourself backward and not progressing. Moral of my story: Read the bible with an open mind |

obailala: Once again I would say, it is not your fault that you do not understand this. It is not in our nature as Africans to understand the principles of long term economics. All we understand and appreciate is a thing which puts food instantly on our tables. You seem intelligent, but your utterances sounds like one who is ignorant or fails to acknowledge the truth. I ask you to name one meaningful achievement of the Obasanjo regime and here you are talking out of point. What am I suppose to use as a yardstick to measure achievement? I care about that which takes care of my needs,as every other African. |

obailala: Typical African mind, your only measure of achievement or progress is something that puts food on your plate today today. You are not alone, dont worry. What nonsense are you talking about? As far as Nigeria is concerned,Chief Olusegun Aremu Obadanjo did nothing as president of The Federal Republic of Nigeria. At least you that knows progress and achievements, show me one laudable achievement of the obj administration. |
Politics › Re: Railways: Jonathan Lacked Vision –obasanjo by April4th(m): 12:57pm On Jul 29, 2015 |
Abeg help me ask am. I live in DSc steel town and I have never seen a train track not to talk of a moving train. Like so many obj projects, the Ajaokuta to Warri railway line was an abandoned project. laudate: And how many tonnes of steel have been moved by the standard gauge rail tracks constructed from Ajaokuta to Warri? How many passengers have ridden on those tracks? Don't forget that Ajaokuta Steel is still comatose till today.
I said earlier that OBJ should be smacked on the bum for his tardiness. After reading this, I believe he should be flogged for spending 8 years to create a design!!!
As for GEJ, he needs to be publicly exposed and brought to book, if what you have written here is true! |
Politics › Re: Railways: Jonathan Lacked Vision –obasanjo by April4th(m): 12:53pm On Jul 29, 2015 |
Stop deceiving yourself,OBJ did nothing. In his 8yrs in office, the only thing he could boast of is gsm. Look at Delta steel company he spent billions of dollars trying to revive and finally sold it to Arcellor Mittal for $30m,not to talk of the billions he also spent on Warri refinery that never refined even a liter of oil. Pls obailala: For those of you wondering what OBJ did in 8 years, you are not to be blamed. Most Nigerian Africans only see the present and are incapable of looking into the future or seeing the bigger picture. To most Africans, a good president is the one that builds/renovates roads for immediate consumption.
Obj saved several billions of dollars in his 8 years of leadership so that his successor will have funds to bring about massive infrastructural development. Go and check the amount he met in Nigerian coffers in 1999 when he assumed office and also check the amount he left behind when he left. Good leadership requires forward thinking, vision and proper planning. It is not about indiscriminately awarding contracts or what you achieve now, but rather, it is about what your efforts achieve much later for your constituents.
After many years of military rule, OBJ successfully lifted Nigeria out of a deep economic and political pit and placed Nigeria on the world economic map. OBJ cleared Nigeria's external debts and boosted our foreign reserves like never before. The reason behind that was to strengthen Nigeria's credit worthiness and restore Nigeria's political relevance in the international scheme of things. OBJ's 'wasted' 8 years was wasted in building a mega-momentum for the nation to launch us into massive infrastructural development. Unfortunately for OBJ and for Nigeria, OBJ never knew his successors were going to be visionless, irresponsible wasters.
The train tracks you talk about, it was under OBJ's regime that the masterplan of the modernised Nigerian railway system was prepared. OBJ successfully constructed the Ajaokuta - Warri standard gauge line (which is of great economic importance to the steel cities) and he was about commencing the Abuja to Kaduna standard gauge rail when he handed over to Yaradua. However GEJ came in and renovated the 1903 narrow gauge tracks from Lagos to Kano instead of following the masterplan which was meant to replace the old tracks with modern standard gauges. Now we can only have snail speed trains and people are celebrating GEJ and insulting OBJ. A little investigation would even reveal that the money squandered in resuscitating the 1903 lines would have at least built half of the modern lines thereby giving us standard world class high speed trains. |

Politics › Re: Jonathan Kicks As Buhari Plans $2.1b Oil Cash Probe - The NATION by April4th(m): 8:40am On Jul 15, 2015 |
O utumunta: We encourage the probe. All our money in private pockets should be recovered and put back in our coffers to meet our ever increasing demand as a country.
I can only tell General Buhari that right from the time of General Obasanjo(1976) to Chief Obasanjo(2007), Yar'adua to GEJ; we Nigerians call for a probe of these governments. Any selective probe shall be seen and misconstrued as witch-hunt.
It was under Obj that the President and his Vice regaled the world with tales of "you say I am corrupt, but you are worse!" We heard of how our monies were deployed by the Presidency to procure SUVs for women, sleep with people's wives and wreck homes. It was the most bizzare thing I ever heard from people in government.
My problem with the GEJ government was legion, but one of them was the fact that he lacked the balls to probe the Obj government of impunity(and others). Halliburton is still with us. I encourage General Buhari to go ahead with this probe and let it consume General Abubakar 'the interventionist' too. Anything short of this and Buhari have started failing in my opinion.
God bless Nigeria! You have said it all, time for Buhari to do the needful. |
