Update on my cabbage garden.

I featured this cabbage garden on 21st sept.

Then it had good prospects but it appears am learning the hard lesson of being a farmer.

The plant actually did well but with the reduction in rainfall and increase in scourging sunshine the crops are beginning to suffer. Meaning that I should have planted earlier in rainy season.

The impact of this is that the cabbage cannot for round head despite the fact that the leaves are doing

I am currently doing manual irrigation on the garden.

It was a good experience all the same. HOPE TO GET IT RIGHT IN MY NEXT ATTEMPT.

i planted gloria f1 i harvested after 5 month only few are good which is abnormal for cabbage anyway i have learned my lesson pls dont go for technisem seed again just get east-west seed instead.thanks

@aquila3, if you look closely at the second to the last pic, you will notice that there are 2 varities- F1 Minotaur and F1 Sultana

I bought them from Technisem shop at Bodija Ibadan.

I love poutry business, and have been into it for like 2 years now, but i am wondering if there is really money in poultry.

When you raise birds from chicks to maturity, and you sell to market women or cold room and make like 100 naira or 200 naira on each chicken. If you have 100 birds, thats just about 20k profit.

Or if you are doing the egg business and make 100 on a crate...it just doesn't add up to something substantial.

I might be wrong, maybe someone needs to educate me on where the money is in poultry. I would love comments. Please come with hard facts, not heresay.

By the way, i am based in ibadan.

you av ask a good question, it has been bothering me coz i worked as poultry supervisor for more than 2yrs and know some pros and cons of poultry business my brother lets hit nail on the head poultry business is nt for babes one thing you gain as a poultry farmer is popularity, although there profit bt it involves huge capital, enough knowlegde and serious courteousness and ur presence aside these my brother dont bother yourself, it had been my aim to establish poultry farm in my town bt hmmn capital it wl involve compare to fish farming no be small, with the look of things fish farming sure pass o, in my area there is someone is into it and he is inviting pple to come and invest like 250k to 300k to raise 1000pcs of fingerlings to maturity stage he has been into it atleast 3yrs ago he wl also help u to dispose it in ur presence and each wl weign 1.5kg for 5 to 6 months, to my estimation tht wl yield 600k to 700k profit so i prefer fish farming.thanks

You can transplant your cabbage seedlings during this raining season between 3 to 4 weeks provided they have developed second level of leaves formation. Carrot would also require nursery because of the size of the seeds. The seeds are so small and tiny that planting them too deep would hinder their germination. On the other hand, planting them too shallow without any form of protection against heavy down pour would result into waste of seeds which is the reason why planting them in shallow soil but in nursery is very essential to having good germination and survival rate.

You would never regret trying it. Luckily enough, it is packaged in small UV pack size of 500 seeds. Just get a sachet and in 6 weeks time after planting it, you would order for a truck load. Please note 500 seeds is around 20g

Its possible to generate biogas from chicken manure 100% poultry waste without adding any other substrates this I have done before and it was a success.if you have the waste and other resources I have active bacteria that can help you to produce biogas in few days.
