edogho: after reading mi post,a ph.d holder like you should know. Count your teeth with your tongue. Thats why i always say acquired knowledge is not enough. Sorry o.How old are you? ![]() |
edogho: Ask dem to explain a simple thing. You are either called ignorant or told you are talking nonsense. Make somebody tell me how a black man go fit use just one broom stick cut yam and dem shoot im without bullet proof o. Bullets just dey bounce off for mi eye koro koro,u come from london wey you go school come dey tell me say there is no spiritual anything. I get one before for protection buh since i start to go church i don throw away am. If to say i catch any of you then wen mi papa still dey juju ministry ehn. Na sacrifice we go use una do. Mtcheeeewwhen you come up with a silly write up like this, it's hard not to call you ignorant ![]() 1) No PhD holder sites Wikipedia as reference 2) You've just referenced Wikipedia as a source for your claims on Greek Chaos and yet you have the balls to box atheists for that? 3) Funny you accuse atheists of basing all their arguments on articles/books written by other people. I Bet you wrote the bible yourself right? You probably noticed no one bothered to respond to your silly thread all this while. Piece of advice, read your bible from start to finish and ask Logical questions before you come here and make a fool of yourself and your religion N/B: I've seen Chris Angel walk on water. However, is that; A. Black magic B. White magic? or C. An illusion? D. All of the above E. None of the above Hmmmm choose wisely |
Mustay: Biko, what has Islam done to you todayno mind the sheep ![]() |
truthislight: keep quite.Your amazing shortsightedness and blatant self dishonesty explains why you have the faith you do. Sheepie ![]() i'm off to get a beer. I bet u need one too ![]() |
truthislight: you are a disaster, self deceiving hypocrite, where dose bottle comes into this analysis/analogy?I honestly had you at a higher level and most of the sheepies that call themselves religionists. But o well, being dumb is a requirement to believe in your invincible daddy big boss There you are feeling like you have actually said something meaningful. But in all fairness, you spent most of your text allowance bashing me rather than coming up with a logical defense for that lame analogy by your ally. you've just degraded yourself to the lowest level one can ever achieve! Kudos Learn to read and understand, it will do you plenty good. You clearly lack that simple ability in tonnes, and that probably explain how you can read your stu.pid bible and still be a christian. So the only thing you could pick up from what I said was bottles flying around? and toss it straight out of context like you guys are good at doing. LOL! i laugh in the face of idiocy HAHAHAHAHAHA Take your time and read my post again, this time lock up your prejudice in a "bottle" and maybe you will get the gist of what i'm trying to say. |
. Oh and by the way, the other kids think their teacher is no good.
You are digging yourself deeper into that hole you started with a terrible analogy like that.Every logical person will see a flaw to your seemingly simple analogy. Now wait, this teacher is pretty confident he knows much more than everyone else in that class room. Hence would know the limits he can let this "naughty" kid behave. So when bottles start flying and there is total anarchy, isn't it about time the teacher says "hang on, everyone keep quiet" ? Your fictional teacher will only allow the naughty kid to do as he please WITHIN the confines of certain limits of things he finds acceptable. What limits have your god set for poor old Lucifer? So basically everything happening now is acceptable by god? |
@poster did you suddenly turn atheist? You seem so excited! @post the devil rules this world. God didnt lose power to him(devil). He let him rule. Consider this scenerio. A teacher is teaching, and a naughty kid stands up and says 'hey teacher, you dnt knw hw to teach'. A wise teacher wouldnt just punish the kid, he'd let him teach and make fun of himself before he gets punished. Thats exactly what God did. The devil wil be punishd along with al that challenges God. We have been given a chance to belong to a perfect 'world.'
Oh dear gawd!!!! I cant even look So the teacher stands by and watch this naughty kid start a fight club and burst a few heads with bottles?? |
ooman: That was boring. You are saying she deserved it? you know what i think? I think you deserve it 10 times.you are wasting your time with these guys.. when someone bases everything he says with bible verses, then there's no point arguing. Even if god himself came down to tell them that he did not write that book, they still wouldn't believe. The way the world works fit more appropriately with randomness and not a supreme creator. But NOOOOOOO Bugzee always has a bible verse to twist and turn just to make his point. sometimes i worry for the guy |
honeychild: and you know this how? What evidence of your common ancestor have you found? Remember Ida? The highly publicized 'common ancestor' found in 2009? She turned out to be nothing of the sort.Try and think hard about assertions you make before posting them on a public forum. It makes you come across as rather careless The assertion you are forcing on him is similar to saying "dogie style is a method for s3xual abstinence" ![]() You see how silly you sound? |
When you have a mindset to believe fables like that, then anything someone says, remotely close to what you are ACTUALLY going through then becomes accurate. Bar the possibility that he has an insider giving him all his info, your pastor can say the same things he said to you to 10 other people and 7 out of them will say it accurately describes what they are going through.. These people are not dumb, we are the ones letting them take us on a magic school bus ride. Say NO to drug abuse Say NO to vision seeing pastors ![]() Occupy church!!!! ![]() |
Rubbish |
Everyone slags off Jonathan Mrs for her poor grammar. From this video, she aint all that bad |
you have friends right? picture selection is what they are for. A public website on the other hand? hmmmm.... ![]() |
..@ OP THE BIBLE EXPLAINS IT WELL IN THE BOOK OF PROVERBS 22:6 Train up a child in the way he shoud grow, and when he is old, he will never depart from it. What you are seeing is the result of upbringing. Its easier to train a child than to repair an Adult Religion to Nigerians is not so much abouts its content, but about an identity. A girl who spent all Saturday night in the club or even having sex with her boyfriend/aristo will wake up by 7am, have her bath, dress up and she is in church. That Muslim chap that hides his alcohol inside his prayer kettle would do his Abulution and head for the Mosque on friday. Its now a part of what they do. It has no real meaning to them. Thats why a convicted felon would go straight from the prisons to a church for thanksgiving. Immorality is very high in Nigeria right now, corruption, crime and all sorts of vices.. Yet every Sunday, the churches are filled to capacity. To the Rich/upper middle-class Nigerians, Church is nothing but a social gathering where they can come into contact with the poor and subconciously oppress them. Thats why its easier for a rich man to see the pastor than it is for a Poor Church Usher to even enter the Pastors office, let alone see him. They dont pray as hard as the poor, they come late and leave early, they get choice seats in church, they get special invites to every occasion and the pastor always answers their calls personally. This classonly attend church on SUNDAYS!! To the lower-middle class/independent enterprenuers, Church is nothing but another avenue to meet potential clients. These ones get access to the pastors, but not as easily as the rich folks. They can get a Pastor to pray for them, but cant get a pastor to come to their houses. This class would attend Church on Sundays abd are always at house-fellowships (as this is where they c=get to interact with the rich). The Poor, To them, Church represents hope. This class are the most dedicated members of the church. they sweep the church, they make up over 75% of the churches workers, they are very loyal to the pastors, they pray the hardest, loudest and longest. They are the first to arrive in church and the last to leave. To them, they really do believe that if you pray hard enough, manna will fall from the skies. They are the most committed. This class can never see the pastor at will. Infact, they will be lucky if they can get the pastors number let alone speak to him one on one. They come to church every sunday hoping for a miracle. They dress their best but always come short. They eat at the feet of the rich & upper middle class who use them as they like. The Politicians need religion for control. They use it for election purposes and to keep the masses under control. A christian wouldnt kill a Politician that is stealing him blind because of religion. And he is so shackled bythe religion that he cant even fight the system, so he prays to God for a solution to a problem that is within his control. Religion is not important to Nigerians, its now a habit. Sadly, we have chosen foreign gods like the Jewish god and the Persian god. Abandoning our local gods. If we still actively worshipped Amadioha, by now, someone would have dragged their governor before Amadioha and made him swear with his life if he stole our money during his tenure or not.. By now, a Yoruba man would have dragged his council man before Sango to swear if that fake road was truly tarred with 15 billion Naira. INFACT, ALL OATHS OF OFFICES WOULD BE TAKEN IN FRONT OF AN ORACLE.. Maybe, just maybe, things would not have been this bad.
I owe you a beer |
Teejayphillip: Hmmmm,Yvonne Nelson i want ur medicine....later you guys will say men put pressure on women in our society. I doubt you'll see a male here saying he likes her skinny look. Women just put too much pressure on themselves, and then blame the stress that comes with it on men. Well, that's typical isn't it? ![]() |

wiegraf: Oh boy, e no easy...It was an answer he gave when asked the question by the Templeton foundation. I had it copied out in word and been sharing it ever since. One of the best answers i've ever got on the topic lol. As for his books, Death by black hole is the only one I've read and trust me, it is a good good read especially if you love astronomy and the universe unknown ![]() |
Does the universe have a purpose? I'm not sure But anyone who expresses a more definitive response to the question is claiming access to knowledge not based on empirical foundation. This remarkably persistent way of thinking, common to most religion and most branches of philosophy has failed badly in past efforts to understand and thereby predict the operations of the universe and our place within it. To assert that the universe has a purpose implies a desired outcome but who would do the desiring? and what would the desired outcome be? 1. That carbon based life is inevitable? 2. That sentient primate is life’s neurological pinnacle? Of course, humans were not around to ask these questions for 99.9999% of cosmic history. So if the purpose of the Universe was to create humans, then the cosmos was embarrassingly inefficient about it and if a further purpose of the universe was to create a fertile cradle for life, then our cosmic environment has got an odd way of showing it. Life on earth during more than 3.5 billion years of existence has been persistently assaulted by natural sources of mayhem, death, and destruction. Ecological devastation exacted by volcanoes, climate change, earthquakes, tsunamis, storms, and especially killer asteroids have left extinct 99.9% of all species that have ever lived here. How about human life itself? If you’re religious, you might declare that the purpose of life is to serve god. If you’re one of the 100 billion bacteria living and working in single centimetre of the human lower intestine, you might instead say that the purpose of human life is to provide you with a dark but idyllic anaerobic habitat of faecal matter. So in the absence of human hubris, the universe looks more and more random. Whenever events that are purported to occur in our best interests (like a job promotion or having a baby after years of trying etc.) are as numerous as other events that will just as so kill us (lightning, plane crash, etc.) then intent is hard if not impossible to assert. So while I cannot claim to know for sure whether or not the universe has a purpose? The case against it is strong and visible to anyone who sees the universe as it is rather than as they wish it to be..... ~~Neil deGrasse Tyson~~ |
The whole concept of a god is flawed in so many ways. If there is indeed a "god", he/she/it isn't what the world makes of it. My stance on being an atheist is simple, the history of our cosmos and our little planet shows absolutely no sign of a supreme intelligent maker who cares how we talk, eat, sleep, grow, behave, or even have sex. One that will punish us in the end when we don't believe in him and his feeble stories like Adam/Eve, Noah and his boat, the action adventures of Moses, Elijah and his show down with Baal, Jonah and his amazing fish, Job the pawn, and for a grand finale Jesus/Yaweh/holy spirit the super Jew with his magical resurrection. God of the gaps is one simple example in history to show that god was easily invented by ancient people who had absolutely no understanding of the world they lived in. Picture the descriptions of heaven and you'll easily see where I'm coming from. No suffering, no war, no conflicts, everlasting paradise, overwhelming love, no sickness, no death, eternal life, eternal fulfilment. These are simply what we as human beings wish to have and in so doing have indoctrinated ourselves to believe we can indeed have all these in an afterlife where "god" rules supreme. Sadly, every grown up person will agree with me that in life, what we wish is not always what we get. That's the vicious cycle of life and living in a hostile universe where everything happens by randomly. I was brought up as a Christian but along the way I started asking seemingly simple questions like "what is the purpose of life?", "why are there so many religions?", "Is religion simply an alter ego of culture?". Religion has not been able to answer these without making needlessly flawed assumptions and forcing me to believe everything they tell me. Religion is simply a war against clear logic and proper reasoning. I will add an excerpt of Neil deGrasse Tyson's (astrophysicist) take on this question. Does the universe have a purpose? |
This is just sad. let us take a minutes silence to remember this Great people. who were not weak like many among us. https://mrmoyer.pbworks.com/f/1207069803/Sapa_Inca_.jpg
Indeed. these guys had what they had and were proud of it. They didnt care about some stranger and his god "inside a book". We on the other hand bought everything they sold us hook, line and sinker (heck, even bait) were still fcked. Maybe we could have had some honour by rejecting them and their malevolent god ywhw. Dont accept yaweh they kill you and nearly all your people and loot your entire nation of all its gold and wealth Accept yaweh on the other hand and they take you off for slavery in a foreign land and still loot all your gold and wealth This is the classic catch-22 of that "Imperialistic behaviour" .Moment of silence indeed, Moment of silence |
Simple answer to your question 1 is a resounding NO!! question 2 = Imperialistic behaviour? LOL!! it certainly is, look at how the Spanish took America over when Columbus discovered it. Their reason for going on a killing spree over the native southern Americans (Inca) was simply that they rejected christianity. Africans on the other hand, accepted it and look what they did with us? need I say more? well, to be honest, religion can only spread so much. There is a "peak reach" religion can ever have before it starts to decline. Funny enough, I feel we have just hit that peak Most religion have come and gone and we only see these two major (christianity and Islam) staying for 2000 and 1500 year respectively due to oppression and carefully planned scare tactics. As time goes by, we will see a sharp decline in people who believe in one god or the other. Take the developed countries for example where the bulk of their population are very well schooled and having a functional society, you will notice religion taking a back seat. The reason is simple, they dont need a god to worry about. Life works just fine without one. However, the poorer ill educated countries have higher number of people hoping for some form of divine intervention or whatever fancy name they wana call it. For me, religion is more of HOPE; hope that the world turns out the way we wish it to be and not the way it actually is. Delusion?? you make your own conclusion, I'm not gonna go that far Having said this, it is important to note that religion thrives more amongst the poorest nations/groups of people. Empower the average human being with education and watch religion die a slow and painful death*. This is similar to population crises we are noticing in poorer countries too. Empower women, and watch population explosion come under control. *N/B: I used slow death here because education is just one part of it and there are many more vices religious leaders use to keep a safe stranglehold on their followers |
