boluwajokosegun: THE GOLDMINE IN PLANTAIN FARMING – Regular Sources of Income
Plantain and banana are widely cultivated in the southern and middle belt regions in Nigeria. The annual local production outruns the demand. Being a highly perishable food item, substantial quantities rot away in a short period after harvest. When the rains start which signals the commencement of planting, the plantain farmers plant at the same time. They harvest at the same period and flood the markets with the product. After a short while, the product soon becomes scarce where much rots away due to unavailable technology for conversion for a longer shelf life. The solution is to process the fruits into a powdered form which can be packaged and stored for a longer time without spoilage and wastage occurring. The natural flavors in the powdered form can also be utilized in industrial food processing. Foods and drinks such as cakes, ice creams, yoghurt and custard are flavored to enhance their taste. The flavors are imported into Nigeria and are synthetic, therefore not as good as the natural flavors in banana and plantain powder. The natural flavors can be imparted into other foods. There is a readymade market within and outside Nigeria for banana and plantain powder. Nigerians in the diaspora, who are looking for businesses to do in Nigeria can look into the aspect of setting up a suitable processing technology to convert banana and plantain into powdered form. The benefits are many to the farmers and to the economy. When the planting season commences, at the start of the rain. The improved variety sucker costs about N120.00 to N150.00 per sucker even from official sources. The demand for the improved variety sucker is high.

STAGE 2: Cost of using manual labour for land preparation at N15,000/acre STAGE 3: Cost of buying 1,000 double bunch Plantain suckers @ N150 each is N150,000. STAGE 4: Transportation of suckers to farm, estimated is N10,000 STAGE 5: Cost of Planting 1,000 suckers at N15 per stand is N15,000 STAGE 6: 1st -5th Weeding @ N30, 000. STAGE 7: Purchase of Manure/Fertilizer, Transportation & Fertilizer Application @ N25,000. STAGE 8: Security @ N50, 000/year. STAGE 9: Management fee @ N50, 000/year
TOTAL= N350,000. + Miscellaneous 30,000 = N380,000 At harvest you will get 2,000 bunches, if you sell at give away price of N800 each, you will have N1.6Million and 3,000 New Suckers. By 2nd -3rd year this Plantain Farm may expand to 2 or 3 Acres if seed suckers and proceeds are reinvested. With a Projected Return On Investment ranging between N1Million and N4Million by 3rd year if expanded.
We also have 50 acres of land in Ikire just less than two hours from Ibadan, oyo state for sale with document very good for farming at N55k per acres. If you want we can manage the farm for you. There we manage farms for investors If you are interested after paying we prepare a FREE BUSINESS PLAN for the business based on the number of acres you buy & invest on. We are also working on companies who will buy all the produce at maturity. We are creating room for a business model that will create good market for the business.
DO YOU HAVE INTEREST & INVESTMENT CASH BUT NO TIME, THEN OUR COMPANY CAN SET UP THE FARM & ALSO MAINTAIN THE FARM OR MANAGE THE FARM WITH YOUR STAFF FOR A FEE. Anything you touch in agriculture is gold if you are ready to be patient. Oh, wow! Agropreneurship does not mean one has to literally work on the farm, is this right ? Not necessarily, in fact it applies to all business. What is great about entrepreneurs is their uncanny ability to see opportunities where others did not but most times entrepreneurs do not have the technical ability to make this opportunity into money. They usually have to hire the technical expert.
Money! Money!! Money!!! Seems to be what everybody seeks, unfortunately, not everyone knows the way of getting rich. Thus, the statement "THE RICH GET RICHER AND THE POOR GETS POORER" is true, not because the rich has money and the poor does not, but because of the inability of the poor to recognize opportunities each time they come around, what is the meaning of Poor? It’s simply P-Passing, O- Over, O-Opportunity, R-Repeatedly. So they stick to the old pattern of living & keeping on managing their way through life forgetting that the world is changing really fast from the industrial age into information Age. . Hi Sege, I guess I'm late to begin this year but am still interested. How reliably can the plantain farm be managed for somebody living outside SW zone? The 50k security cost, is it just for 1 acre or for as many acres as u have? The farm produce drying/processing machine seems cool too. please give more info: including plantain farm pics and machines that you have to: area.fada@yahoo.com PS: see my oil processing thread link: https://www.nairaland.com/1872160/groundnut-oil-palm-kernel-oil |

World1, my brother thanks for the succinct reply.
I'm just thinking aloud that irrigation would raise production cost, reducing profit.
Regarding this contract you are executing, are you going to be in charge till harvest?
Anyway, any discount on the 700k per acre in your area/Ewekoro? Is it anywhere near the WAPCO cement plant?
After 10 months/harvest, can the same land be immediately used to plant suckers again?
I have been enquiring about farmland around Atan Otta (Ado Odo) for a while, but Ewekoro is not too far.
Thanks. |

emmykk: To cheat in marriage is bad, because those boyfriend and girlfriend will not be there when things gets worse expect your husband or wife. The day you start cheating on either your boyfriend ot girlfriend,or wife or husband and you are caught, just a matter of time, there is no love anymore.
If i where you,i did divorce her, women are terrible if the other guy is giving her groundbreaking organsm and you are doing her like a wife, she will soon kill you and go for him be wise.
You were wrong to cheat on her but not enough for her to pay you back. . Gbam. Your marriage now has no basis. Both of you have displayed utter irresponsibility. Unless you can both endure an open relationship, this marriage is now an open sham. Even if you both agree on open relationship, you will soon be surplus to requirement. Your woman will soon tire of you altogether. I have the feeling that your wife might already have been cheating BUT only that she now makes no effort to conceal. A decent woman would want to maintain a kind of moral high ground by not cheating. She would also be worried about what her own birth family would say if they found out. DUDE: your life might actually be at risk now. |

Well done Sir.
(1) Will plantain grow well in this grassland? Or you intend to use fertiliser? From experience plantain grows best on cleared thick forest land.
(2) Plantain planting season used to be around May to August with lots of rainfall to help growth. Is it that rain fall almost all round now you are planting now?
(3) How much is an acre (6 plots) of land for sale in Ewekoro/Ado-Odo area of Ogun state?
(4) The watermelon, how long is it from planting till harvest? (5)Are you also into animal farming?
Thanks very much sir. |

Abeg tell me . Now you just picked the part that suits you to ask about. Corruption in this case means causing religious divide just to try and get votes. Most 9ja politicians are money-wise corrupt but I have never heard OBJ for example advocating to "orunminalise or ogunise all of 9ja or Jang calling to Christianise or Ribadu calling to Islamise" 9ja. Considering the sensitivity of religion in all facets of 9ja, anyone with such views is highly toxic. |

jaytee01: I am not a fan of Buhari but I can safely conclude that you are not only a bigger bigot but also a punk. . The question should be did Buhari make that statement or not? Does he believe that Nigeria should be totally Islamised? You're just attacking the messenger here. Look, I had the chance to sit just yards away from Buhari when he was head of state. I actually quite liked the lanky, good-looking, smart professional soldier I saw. But that was back in 1984. He's not the same now. He has been corrupted by the politics of 9ja. To pander to his Northerners, he'd use religion. |

dabossman: This usually isn't because people are working too hard just to provide for the family, but because today's workplace demands too much of employees. It worse in a country like Nigeria where Labour Laws are not enforced. Even the working woman is not spared. Many working wives are made to work long hour and even weekends, usually leaving them with little time for family and health issues too. . That's true. |

blaise26abj: There are a lot of ways that she can be a helper when his health is concerned. Medication, Food and vacations. Why would he be proud to take a vacation? is it a lowly thing to do? just a trip downtown to a hotel with madam for only a week can do a lot to reduce stress. . He probably has to work a lot. He might consider taking such a break as a sign of weakness. Remember he considers paying all the bills as a sigh of being a man/husband. Ego is also at play here. In my line of work, I see a lot of career high-flyers ending up with a massive heart attack or mental breakdown. In diaspora though. I think such is possible anywhere. |

blaise26abj: OP: Atimes when people don't do their homework before marriage, they end up with these scenarios
1. Faith Should have have married Beatrice's or Tamar's husband
2. Beatrice Should have married Faith's husband
3. Tamar has no problem whatsoever. She only has to ensure that hubby takes the occasional vacation I disagree with you on (3). Tamar has a problem because she's not happy. She wants to help economically but she's not allowed to. What's more, she's already worried about the future in case he dies prematurely. Pride probably won't allow her husband take adequate holiday. All are dysfunctional homes, 1 & 2 even more so. |

tatiana009: No the other women don't have the same rights as the legally married woman in the eyes of the law. The children will be taken care of but court registry does not recognize 2nd wife and so on so it protects the legally married wife. Yes the best thing is to marry a man that won't marry more than one wife or betray you however many women have been shocked by husbands they trusted and thought they knew well until strange women appear after he dies do it is always best to protect yourself My dear, there's human law & there's biological/natural law. As a guy of science I know that nature always trump man-made laws. Why do you think the lowly, average n high & mighty tend to be unfaithful? From Baba Onikeke vulcaniser to bankers to J F kennedy & Bill Clinton (a lawyer)? Because behind all the facade of civilisation, education & sophistication, they ultimately succumb to human/biological urges. When you consider that about 75% (some would say even more) of people are either physically or emotionally unfaithful, then it's not an aberration but the norm. Maybe it was normal in the garden of Eden, but monogamy didn't help there either. A second wife might have dissuaded Adam from listening to eve. Now check this out: divorce rate now stands at 50%, 50% of firstborn kids don't belong to the guy they call dad, 30% of all kids would fail paternity test! So momogamy has failed woefully. For most people anyway. FYI: I come from a monogamous home, my grand dad too was monogamous. |
Romance › Re: The Growing Trend Of Men Shying Away From Court or White Wedding by AreaFada2: 8:46pm On Oct 05, 2014 |
tatiana009: We've all heard of many cases where the woman only discovers that the man had another wife or wives in the process of the burial and they start showing up , customary law will recognize all those women whereas if she got married in a registry she and her kids will be the main benefactors. Abeg if there any woman who's reading this and thinks customary law is the same it's not o. Research and find out what your rights are under customary law and make an informed decision. . Are the other kids not the man's own? The other ladies have as much right as you. If your husband when alive didn't deem you sufficient for him, why should the courts or his family do so? It seems the motive here is to corner all his wealth and disenfranchise the innocent kids outside. So marry your soulmate, not just a rich guy that splashes money around on women or a gigolo? |

If you're conerned about in-laws chasing you out of husband house in case the worst happens, there's something called a will. Customary courts recognise trado-marriage. There's even something called common law marriage WITHOUT any marriage conducted at all: after some years of cohabitation. All these religions from the desert have turned people's head. |
