cuteboy2: That means there were several beds that cost about N1.5m each !!!!
But N1.5 for one bed is still too much for one of the poorest states like Ekiti.!!! Haba
You purchase a complete set of 2+3+ 2 single seater imported Italian settee plus an 8 chair dining set for that amount. Go to Bedmate and check the price.
I respect ex-Gov Fayemi, and I believe he was a prudent man. But allowing for these kind of costs for procured government furniture is too much.
Can't all these government officials do their work without using pricy cars, pricy furniture, pricey hotels, etc. Haba!! Our leaders are just sucking us dry and killing us in this country. none of the beds in the government house cost above N1.5 million. He said none of the beds in the government house cost above N1.5 million Reading and comprehension is really a major problem on NL. |

Godswill Akpabio embarrassed by heckling in the Senate!
The Senate Minority Leader and former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, who recently flew to London for treatment following a road traffic accident, was questioning Osagie Enahire during the Senate’s ministerial confirmation hearings.
As Enahire is a surgeon, the assumption was that he would be appointed Minister of Health. So Akpabio said: “I was privileged to build the biggest hospital in West Africa”. This was meant to be the preamble before he asked a question about recruitment of medical staff.
Before Akpabio could get to the relevant part of his question, a fellow senator heckled several times: “But you went abroad for treatment”.

He didnt see the Boulevard. Where?
He didnt see the Afro Tropicana Uncompleted
He didnt see the E-Library Useless. Poor people of akwa ibom have to pay toll to use it.
He didnt see the world Class Stadium A non FIFA rated football field. No basketball court, no vollyball court, no boxing court, no swimming pool, no tennis...nothing, just a football field. And when was the last time it was used since commissioning. It's a waste and gross white elephant.
He didnt see the World Class Roads. Just a few new roads in UYO.
He didnt see the Bridges Flyover and 1 bridge. How sad that with the richest state in Nigeria, all you are able to list are less than projects. The shame you listed cost the people of akwa ibom wasted 8 years and the largest budgets in Nigeria No new Hospitals - Fayemi built a new 300 bed hospital in less than 4 years while akpabio did not build 1. NO health centers No new schools No water works No skills centers Abeg keep quiet.. |

southsouthman: This is one politician I love but I must say that if this was his response to the question then I am so disappointed. Is he saying that he didn't take into consideration his state's monthly income and that of Akwa Ibom. This is just like saying a man whose monthly or yearly income of 200k building a house of 3m because he saw his colleague whose income is 7m having that structure. You are not making any sense.. That fact that you bought a new car just like your wealthy neighbor doesn't mean you have to spend the same amount your wealthy neighbor spent. New Toyota corolla and a new Rolls Royce are both new cars designed to get you from point A to point B regardless the amount spent. The need to build a new government house for many administrations to come was a good investment for his state and he offered a very sensible and rational reason for his actions. southsouthman: It is better to be as clueless as GEJ than to be so heartless and confused like PMB and you. ^^^^^^^ And with such above thoughtless comment by you says a lot about your own poor judgement and flawed mentality.. |

Bevista: I sense a woman who regrets being identified with Jonathan. This is a subtle but clear indictment of the inept GEJ administration. That was a very gross and unambiguous indictment of the administration she was part of and GEJ in particular... Fortunately, she left out the part she played. We know today that the NNPC lost billions of dollars not because our own money manager, finance minister and economic coordinator kept tab or was paying attention to our earnings and savings, it was because SLS did. She admitted that $10 billion was missing so what if SLS wasn't aware and didn't speak up, would she have said anything? Is she saying she didn't know anything about all the zero due process and illegal funds she released and also the billions we lost because she was granting import waivers to cronies left and right? While I do appreciate her candor in admitting her failure and speaking glowingly about PMB, I'm curious to know why politicians & public officials suddenly become Patriotic when they lose the patronage & glamour of office - case in point, Edwin Clarke & NOI. They do this to look sane and clean after the fact, but unfortunately for them, they are still part of the odious and corrupt history they left behind.. As for the obdurate ones still holding on to the shadow of their "Hero", this is a wakeup call. Your role models are deserting you in droves and joining the path of progress. Soon, you'll be left clutching at nothing. The rest of Nigeria have moved on, even Jonathan's own Ijaw people have moved on and in many cases even questioning and ridiculing Jonathan's presidency and corrupt and incompetent. The folks you are talking about sadly are not interested in Nigeria, her progress and or unity, their only concern and love for GEJ is based on their primitive and pedestrian tribal, selfish, self centered and bigoted ways. They too tribally distracted and necessarily and dangerously paranoid to function and lovingly co exist with the rest of Nigeria.. |

Cases of corruption, stealing and looting are handled by our law enforcement agencies with constitutional ability and capacity to source critical evidence, to initiate criminal trial and prosecute and jail offenders, but Wike's rubbish can not do all that so why not forward whatever relevant facts he has against the former governor to the levant crime fighting agencies and let them initial trial and prosecution against him if he really has something worth prosecuting over. Obviously, he has nothing so this is just a show and pathetic smear game against the former governor. If you are really concerned about corruption and the former governor's guilt, beg Wike to take his facts to the EFCC because this is the standard practice and logical thing to do. |

[s] ahaika23: His Excellency Ezebunwo Nyesome Wike in his wisdom and resolve to position Rivers State on the path of greatness once again, delivering state workers from the shackles of hardship, suffering, penury meted against them and the abandonment of their children, turning them to destitutes oversees by one who was supposedly elected to be a loving leader thought it wise to understand the challenge the past administration suffered, comparing overhead cost to revenue received and was alarmed by dastardly evil activities designed to increase the suffering of the common masses.
At the end of the last administration, humane, reasonable and responsible Governors presented their handover notes, but one remarkable thing we all can remember is that Rotimi ran from one court to another paying for injunctions to stop the swearing in Of His Excellency Nyesom Wike but failed woefully. One may ask at this point, what is Amaechi afraid of, and what is he hiding and can't stand His Excellency Nyesom Wike from knowing?
Rivers State is the richest oil revenue State after Akwa Ibom but was grossly indebted home and abroad which even Amaechi confessed that His Excellency Nyesom Wike would find difficult paying salaries. During His Excellency Nyesom Wike's first few months, massive looting was discovered littered everywhere in the State's financial records such as billions awarded for a specialist hospital with not even a foundation to show for it as well as several billions transferred to a fantom company with address as 25 trans-amadi layout which is in fact occupied by a bank as no company with such name EVER existed there.
For APC to come out and call a legally constituted commission of inquiry's report 'IDIOTIC', it therefore means the following;
-All Oshiomole's rantings about GEJ, Deziani, Ngozi are IDIOTIC
-All Buhari's rantings about oil thieves being investigated are IDIOTIC
-All EFCC arrest and detention in this administration are IDIOTIC -All CCB findings and prosecutions are IDIOTIC [/s] Amaechi delivered more and better infrastructure that all the governors in the whole of SS and SE combined many times over... Get over yourself with your silly lies... |

-Despite his public outcry of bankruptcy in the State treasury and dwindling funds from oil revenue, Delta State Governor, Mr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has given the exorbitant sum of N750 million to members of the State House of Assembly for a leadership training jamboree in the United State Of America (USA) We reliably learned that twenty-nine members of the House, selected aides, and a few directors of the Assembly led by the speaker of the House, Mr. Monday Igbuya, will share the N750 million for the leadership training jamboree billed for 12th October 2015 in the USA. According to one lawmaker, who refused to give in-depth details of the trip, the training will last for more than two weeks. “I will not tell you the exact figures that was given to us by the Governor for the training for security reasons. But I will only confide in you that the Speaker and the principal officers will get the lion’s share while other fellow members of the house will get flat shares and the least goes to a few of the selected aides and directors,” he said. The lawmaker continued, “if the figures should be revealed Deltans will stone us and protest, especially in this era of almost zero allocation. If I must tell you the truth my brother, this is the second time I am attending such training as a lawmaker and the training is actually nothing but a kangaroo training and jamboree. If you say you won’t attend, you will be tagged as the black sheep in the house.” When asked if he was aware that the Governor released the sum of N750 million for the trip, the lawmaker smiled and simply said in pidgin English “Na my mouth dem go hear say dem catch monkey mother and the pikin run.” Another lawmaker from one of the opposition parties on the jamboree trip, spoke under a condition of anonymity, stated that the lawmakers are not happy with Governor Okowa because of his kind of financial treatment. “The training for the Delta State lawmakers is an annual event that is carried out shortly after the inauguration of the new Assembly, but if you ask me with the huge sum released so far, which I am not ready to disclose to you, no right thinking and meaningful government will encourage this foreign training during this much talked about dwindling revenue.” A staff member at the accounts department of the State House of Assembly, who pleaded anonymity, confided in our correspondent that the initial amount released for the trip was rejected by the lawmakers because it did not include non-principal officers of the house. The initial amount N4million per member, but this was rejected and the Governor had no option than to bloat the money three time http://urhobotoday.com/?p=19403 |

CMD, Patients Decry Poor Facilities In Uniport Teaching HospitalThe death of a 200-level student of Department of Theatre Arts, University of Port Harcourt, Miss Kelechi Promise due to alleged lack of bed space in University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital was condemned by many. Investigations into the hospital’s facilities showed that it is indeed in a sorry state.
It is far from what one can describe as a standard hospital, though in Rivers state, it is perceived as one of the highest health institutions as major cases are referred to it. The situation is so bad that the management cannot maintain regular light and water supply. Sometimes, relatives of admitted patients need to come with their own water and lantern to avoid being taken unaware.
The much-debated issue of inadequate bed space in the hospital is true. Findings revealed that sometimes, the nurses and doctors have to appeal to patients to stand up from the bed and sit down to allow people with more critical cases to use the bed. This is most common in the Accident and Emergency ward of the hospital
